Logs for Salstorm
18-Oct-07
Having downloaded the waypoint only and not having read any of the clues, a relatively easy find in a great spot. Only one ship out today, but storms are blowing in. Dropped off TB 'Racing East' who accompanied me to nearby St Bees to track koalas as part of an Earthwatch program, and took Tin Tin Astronaut to accompany me back to Melbourne. Thanks for the cache!

dropped off TB Taz to head closer to home, and retrieved TB Racing East, who hopefully will race north with me over the next few weeks, nice easy find, thanks
Hopefully Taz gets 'home' from here! Took TB Racing East, Thanks for the cache!

Been a few years since my last cache, and happy to pick up TB Taz on my first one back! A lovely spot close to home, thanks!

the 2nd cache along our long walk. lots of dead seals and seabirds on the beach today....but also lots of the hooded plovers and pacific gulls too. left the little bug from 'the apostle' and took the echidna. great cache!
a nice easy find along our 32 km walk of the whole penninsula, on a lovely day. have left travel bug Tigger to continue his Victorian tour.

I'm itching to tackle the long hike that passes through here! The trees played a bit of havoc with the GPS reading here, but found eventually. Left the golf ball from a local cache, and took racing car. We took the back roads from here back to Portland, which passed through lovely swamps and forests filled with colourful flowers en mass (tea tree, eramophila, and calistamen I think). Just beautiful! Thanks!
An extremely easy find (for a change!) in what started out to be driving rain and wind. A fantastic walk, although some of the lesser used tracks could use a little clearing after a big spring growth. Left racing car from Inkpot and took Tigger the Travel Bug for a ride back to Melbourne. He will accompany me on my next hike to somewhere else in Victoria. Thanks Alex.

This is a great park to camp in, we just did canoe/overnight camp, which was fantastic. Off to camp elsewhere now. We took the more direct track in, which was aroun 800 metres along an overgrown, but clear track. Found after a bit of poking around. Left cockatoo and took golf ball. Thanks Team Geocoopers.

Thanks Maccamob, another pleasant caching site. I've visited this place many times, and once spotted a copperhead snake raiding a bird's nest once in a shrub just like the one the cache was under (only time I've ever spotted a snake other than a python that high up!)Continuous muggles flying overhead today......Minnie Mouse in, cockatoo out.
What great views from here! You wouldn't pick it from near the road. Amazing number of muggles out here for a Thursday afternoon, but managed the swap eventually. Sticky gecko in, minnie mouse out. Thanks Maccamob.

First of 3 found today, after having introduced "Loch Ness" to caching. Took us a while, as we discovered that unless you're 7 foot tall, you do actually have to leave the path to find the cache! Perhaps someone has moved it slightly to make it less visible? Took sticky lizard, left pencil.
The second of three found with Loch Ness today, on a beautiful day, marred only by a puncture halfway through our bike ride. A nice easy find in a noisy, but potentially nice area. Can't say I'm in a hurry to get back here at the moment though! Thanks Two plus Four.
Left golf ball, took pig.

The third found with Loch Ness today after our bike ride was cut short. What a fantastic place that I never knew existed! Thanks! We walked past this one thinking it was too obvious, but sure enough..........
Left the cow, and took the snake.

I wasn't expecting much from this park when I undertook a day walk here: how wrong I was! It's well worth an afternoon, and a photographer's dream. I saw plenty of roos and wallabies, and shared my lunch with 3 large blue tongues and 3 new hatchlings in the sun, whilst enjoying the fantastic views. I found a very healthy adult brown snake too, which I only noticed when I heard it slithering awy, seeking shelter from me. The cache site is a lovely spot, thanks Woodiebro. Lots of goodies too! Took a golf ball and left the green keychain from 'Place Ya Bets'.

What a lovely hot day to remind us that summer is on its way. Took a bit of scouting around to find what should have been obvious, but succeeded in the end. Took hair ties, left seahorse.

Out for a pleasant stroll with a friend who's just bought a block in Gembrook; she actually spotted the cache. Shouldn've paid more attention to the clue! I'll be back with her next visit to find the remainder in this lovely area.
