Logs for Team J@M

25-Jan-15
Have been fans of Sylken for almost 33 years now, so very happy to find a cache dedicated to them on the way home from a weekend up in the Riverland.

Happy Australia Day!

04-Jun-14
Found it while checking out the mines area. Initially the iPhone took us to the wrong spot, but we soon had it worked out when we looked at one the photos.
No pen on us today, so couldn't fill out the log. TNLN TFTC.

03-Jun-14
Found it whilst trying to work out what that object actually is, we figured it looked like a good cache hide, checked the website and sure enough. Still don't know what it is though.

06-Aug-13
Stuck to the track and headed towards GZ, hoping that we were on the correct side of the river as it was flowing very well.

Those spikey leafy thingys near the cache are dangerous, take care as you approach as they do sting a bit when they hit you. In the end it was an easy find once we checked our coords and put ourselves in the correct spot. TFTC

A clever hide in a nice spot, great of you have kids. TFTC

03-Aug-13
Searched for this one for about 15 mins before checking the previous logs. I think it is definitely missing.

Nice easy walk from the car for this one. The container has been leaking and a new book will be needed soon. TNLN TFTC

Wow, never expected to see that. Unfortunately I don't think anyone was home today, but definitely have to come back a Christmas. TNLN TFTC

Today was very wet and stormy so we had to take the high route, otherwise we'd have been washed away. Just getting to GZ was very cool though, not for the faint hearted in some parts.

It took us quite a bit of time to eventually locate the cache, but we did find it eventually. Another great spot we would never have found by ourselves. TNLN TFTC

We approached from the boat ramp side and took a track up to the cliff top area. Looked hard for about 30 mins in lots of very 'cachey' areas but had no luck.

We were only using the IPhone, and not the GPS so maybe our coords were slightly out.

We went past this one whilst trying to find a couple of the the local caches, however it looks like the entire jetty was being rebuilt, so someone might need to check on this one when they have finished.

12-Jun-12
Great location, we ended up continuing on the path to do the full loop trail, worth doing if you have about an hour.

Nice easy find, unfortunately we didn't have a pencil with us so we couldn't fill out the log book.

10-Jun-12
Out showing our friends geocaching, this was a nice easy find.

Couldn't find this one, then it started to rain so we abandoned our hunt.

21-Aug-11
Had a good look around for this one, but no luck. It looks like there has been a recent mud slide which may have buried or dislodged the cache. We did see a number of glad bags in the area and the creek so I'm not sure if this is a sign that the cache has been destroyed. Might be worth another look.

A clever hide, the clue helped.

This one is just around the corner from our house, so we thought we should go and have a look. A clever hide, took a bit of looking for us to find it.

Found the tail which gave us the cache. Good little spot on a nice day.

13-Aug-11
Continuing our walk around Port Hughes this was the 4th cache we found. This one took a little bit of hunting but we eventually found the very clever hide.

Our fifth and final cache whilst on foot in the area for the day, another good one to find for our friends that were with us caching for the first time. Easy to find once you think like a cacher.

Our third cache of the day, this one was pretty much where we thought it might be. A pretty easy one to find in a great spot.

Watch out for the snake !!!
As we approached this cache one of our travelling buddies looked in the bushes next to the location and noticed a big brown snake sunning himself. After a bit of rustling around in the bushes we convinced him to move on, I then had a good hunt around and found the cache - all the time keeping one on out for our new friend. We moved on quickly once we filled out the log on this one.

Spent the weekend in Port Hughes, and this was the first cache we went searching for. For some of our friends who hadn't found a cache before this was a nice easy one to start with. The weather was perfect and the water had barely a ripple on it. A good location and worth the walk from our holiday house.

20-Jun-10
Team J@M topok a couple of friends on their first caching experience, and this was there first ever cache. An excellent example for the newcomers - hard enoug to introduce them to the tricks yet still possible with no experience...

An ingenious hide that had Mr M very excited when he found it. We weren't sure if the difficulty rating came from the electric fence in the near vicinity but we managed to avoid a zap.

Also managed to disturb a poor little lizard who had settled in for his winter sleep and looked a little too much like a rock that needed to be flipped over. Sorry My Lizard. Smile

On a walk with some new cachers we made a rookie mistake - blindly followed the GPS - one simple wrong turn and we were on the completely wrong track Smile It made for a nice walk, and some extra exercise and we got there in the end. Smile

A nice easy cache, although nature is doing her bit to add to the camoflage. Added a silica packet to keeo it dry, the paper was getting a bit soggy.

A nice drive by cache with some nice views to introduce some friends to the sport Smile

Found this afternooon on a day trip with a couple of new cachers - dropped off a team fire safe geocoin in what we felt was an appropriate location Smile

A place we and the new cachers know well, and inevitably will visit again in the summer Smile

A nice wander through the park on a Sunday afternoon with friends - the Nitro Cars were on, adding to the interest Smile

We did this slightly out of order, and it literally shone out in the afternoon sun. We adjusted the camo, but it is still probably the easiest of the four.

We enjoyed the walk through the park, on a day out with friends. Park was very busy, with the car park almost full.

We did the WT run sightly out of order, getting number 4 before number 3, and we probably came at this one form the wrong side - due to recent rains there was water in the creek line but some athleticis and gymnastics later we were on the other side and the cache was ours. A nifty little hide.

28-Feb-10
Searched all the likely looking spots, but no joy.

Took us a bit of time to locate this one, we did a few circle looking until we realised where it was.

Another DNF for us today, looked in all the likely spots but couldn't find it anywhere.

18-Oct-09
Nice easy find, definitely needs a new log book though Smile

15-Oct-09
We arrived half an hour after Saintsno1, alas a silver for us.

Nice spot and a nice view as the sun was setting (although quite cold tonight). When I first saw the location I too was worried about where to park, it is all good though.

The cache was hidden in a good little spot, not the first place I would have thought to put one.

Thanks Bregor

Only our second FTF Big Grin

A nice view of the very large house below, not a bad spot.

The cache was fairly easy to find, once I worked out how to get it out of its hiding spot. A different container too, haven't seen one of those before - nice work.

Thanks again Lava12, we seem to be getting a lot of yours lately.

Found this one by following the Geotrail straight to it. The cache was very wet inside and the log book was saturated.

We replaced the log in a new plastic bag, but the cache really needs to be dried out and possibly replaced.

May also need to move it so that the trail is less obvious.

TFTC

A nice view as you head down to this one, those powelines are quite noisy though.

We found this one fairly easily, however it looks as though the cache container needs replacing or some maintenance.

There was a fair bit of water in the cache and the log book is saturated. We left a new log book and plastic bag.

Not a bad place to live, still in suburbia but rural enough to feel like you are in the bush.

Had to do a little bit of searching for the cache, and the clue told us we were in the right spot. Eventually found it well hidden.

Definitely a nice easy 'drive by' cache, our 14th find for the day.

TFTC TNLN

Nice easy find, had to return a runaway dog from a nearby house though.

No water in the creek today.

TFTC TNLN

Certainly not somewhere I would normally found, a nice little spot however. No animals around today but the walk was still worth it.

We followed the geotrail of trampled grass to the cache and had it located fairly quickly. The walk back up the hill took a bit longer though.

I've driven past this park a number of times previously but never knew there was a pond there, doesn't look as though it has had much water in it recently.

Had to be careful of the muggles playing nearby, but a nice easy find for us.

Took the super bouncy ball, left a SONY monitor cleaner.

We've been into the park a number of times before but had not ever seen this dam.

The nearby horses are quite friendly and enjoyed a snack on the green grass we fed them.

This was our sixth cache for the day, a nice easy find in a pleasant spot.

Great design for a cache, once again Miss J found this one straight away, It would have taken Mr M much longer I think.

No one else around today, just the three cachers.

Number 16 for today Smile
