It's been over a year since I last did any geocaching and I no longer have interest in maintaining this cache. Bye!

21-Feb-18
I was walking the dog today in daylight and located the final. I'd always been meaning to come back and locate the log, but no such luck. I searched around for a bit but couldn't find it. I'm fairly certain where I was is the final because it obviously fits the clue, but I can't locate the log.

11-Feb-18
Thanks Smile I have been meaning to get down there and replace the container with something more water resistant. Your new logsheet will help in the meantime!

08-Jan-18
I've removed the waypoint - doesn't really seem to help people so I'll just leave it up to you to find your best way in (and out!) through the bush. There isn't any particularly easy way in or out.

31-Dec-17
It's been a while since my last find, and decided I needed to get one to finish 2017 with. TFTC. #226

25-Nov-17
I've replaced the old container with a screw cap pill container - the other ones I have in the park like this haver remained dry through winter, so this one should work better. I've also written the co-ordinates on the lid, on the log bag and included a couple of bits of laminated paper with them on it too. Updated the description too and added a couple of waypoints. The photo shows the bridge that's been built on the river side.

I checked on this today. All looking good and still plenty of log space. Despite the drier weather we've had recently, the path in is still very muddy, but at least the first bridge isn't under water!

I've replaced the bag the log is in with a new one which has the co-ordinates on it. Plus I've written them on the inside of the lid with (hopefully!) permanent marker, and put two extra laminated bits of paper in the with them on it. Also dropped off a couple of trackables I've had for far too long.

Replaced the log bag with one with the co-ordinates written on it as a backup, and also a couple of small bits of laminated paper with them on it too.

I've added a new waypoint to help people find their way there. This doesn't make it all that much easier though, because the new planting has grown up a lot! I didn't manage to check on the cache itself today, because my little geodog refuses to go there!!

24-Nov-17
I've just messaged you the co-ordinates. I'll fix the cache up tomorrow.

20-Nov-17
Thanks for your note about how wet it is - I'm going to go around all my caches in this park shortly and do any maintenance on any that need it, and replace this one with a screw top container. They seem to be much better at keeping the water out. I also need to update the hint and re-check the terrain rating. They've done heaps of planting in this area and it's harder to get into from the car park side now.

04-Oct-17
I need to get down there at some stage and replace the container - I have some much better ones now that don't let water in Smile

18-Sep-17
With the development work on the empty lot, the flax bush has been hauled out in the last few days, and this cache is now gone.

17-Sep-17
It was a beautiful day and we took the dog for a walk here. I hadn't done any geocaching for ages and suddenly thought to pull out my phone and see what was here. Easily found this one, but the log is very full. Managed to find a space to leave my mark. #225

05-Jun-17
Easy find thanks to the clue. I've unsuccessfully tried to find this one before but was looking in the wrong tree, and perhaps not reading the clue. TFTC. #223

I couldn't find the original cache way back. The new cache is off the old coordinates somewhat, but I don't think the original were right anyway. Thankfully the photo hint helps. Coordinates I have are 36 50.026 175 44.091. TFTC. #224

28-May-17
I'd done the Xterra Auckland Trail Run this morning in Riverhead Forest, and drove to Orewa afterwards around the forest. I decided I should really pick up one of these along the way! It was a pretty random choice about which one, but easy find. TFTC. #222

27-Apr-17
What I initially thought was just a rock I was feeling in the most obvious place turned out to be the cache when I went back to the same most obvious place after a couple of minutes of looking around! First cache in quite a long time. #221. TFTC.

25-Apr-17
I've updated the terrain to 3.5 for the moment. I suspect it'll remain fairly flooded until October/November unless we have a dry winter Smile

I should also note that it's possible to work out where the final is without getting the numbers from this cache (from memory two groups have done it). In fact, it's probably possible to work out where the final is likely to be without visiting any of the other caches in the series!

29-Mar-17
I checked up on this one today while walking the dog. It's a bit wet inside and the tag with the letter/co-ordinates has come off but it's still there and the log is dry. I'll replace the container with a better one in the next few days. Also, one of the trees outside the woods has been cut down, so I'll update the long hint.

28-Mar-17
I checked on this cache when I went for a run through here this morning, and it's definitely still there waiting to be found, with a nice dry log to sign and a couple of swaps to trade.

08-Mar-17
After the really heavy rain last night and this morning, this part of the park is completely flooded. The cache shouldn't be low enough to be disturbed, but I'll go check it out once the water has gone down in the next couple of days.

Update on Thursday March 9th: the water in the field is mostly gone now, but the first bridge is still flooded, as is the path beyond that. I would probably have gone through to have a look, but my dog was being silly and probably would have fallen in the really stinky water... I'll check back again soon.

After the really heavy rain last night and this morning, I thought I'd better check this cache out, being the only one of mine at ground level. Nice and dry where it is Smile

27-Feb-17
I ran around the park this afternoon with my dog and had a look - the kite is definitely still there in the tree Smile

22-Feb-17
Grabbed the sheep trackable while out walking the dog this beautiful sunny afternoon. No sign of the fishing one and, thinking about it, it wasn't there when I added the new log sheet the other day.

18-Feb-17
Put a new log sheet in the cache and dropped off the "Seven Souvenirs of August Trackable" trackable. Cache is nice and dry.

Put a new log sheet in the cache, which is still is nice and dry. Part of the seat has been broken off, but fortunately the bit hiding the cache is still there! There's been a lot of rain in the last few days, and first bridge is flooded at the moment.

Put a new log sheet in the cache and dropped off the "7 Deadly Ducks Tag" trackable. Cache is nice and dry.

Put a new log sheet in the cache and dropped off the "Jo's Pink Pedal Challenge for Breast Cancer" trackable. Cache is nice and dry.

First time I've visited this cache since putting it here, and nice to see so many names in the log book. I took the troll trackable (now need to find another big cache to put it in!) and dropped off a CITO Geocoin. The bushes and trees have grown up a lot and it's getting harder to get in there. I think there may be a better spot to enter from; I'll investigate further and update the waypoint if so.

07-Feb-17
First time I've checked on this one since placing it, and it's nice to see the undergrowth has been beaten down a bit by all the people geocaching Smile All looking good, although the little bag the log was in seems to have gone walkabout. Probably doesn't need to be in a bag though - log is nice and dry and unlikely for the container to get wet where it is. I need to add another log sheet soonish.

23-Jan-17
Picked up "Jo's Pink Pedal Challenge for Breast Cancer Travel Tag Geocoin" while doing a cache inspection. There was another geocoin in the cache too, which I also grabbed but wasn't showing in the inventory. I've just had a look now and there's a note for that one that it was dropped here just wasn't inventoried.

20-Jan-17
I brought a bunch of 12 year olds out here to go sand duning, and thought I'd find some caches while they were having fun. Nice easy find, but there's only one space left in the log. TFTC. #219. Oh, and I lost my pen somewhere between here and Wainamu wandering #3...

I brought a bunch of 12 year olds out here to go sand duning, and thought I'd find some caches while they were having fun. The GPS had me on the wrong side of the track; as soon as I looked on the right side I found it almost straight away, and the title suddenly became meaningful. Nice little cache, but the log paper is in a bit of a poor state. TFTC. #218

I brought a bunch of 12 year olds out here to go sand duning, and thought I'd find some caches while they were having fun. The GPS was pointing me in the completely wrong direction (seems to have been playing up a bit today), but I ignored it and went for the obvious hiding spot and found it straight away. TFTC. #220

No luck for me today, despite having a couple of pokes around while the kids were sand duning. I'll have to have read of the logs (couldn't when I was out there - no cell coverage) and have a another look some other time.

I was here at this park with my son and a bunch of his friends having pizza, and decided to check if there were any caches nearby. While looking it up and seeing there was one here, a dad and his two kids rocked up and started looking for it. I watched them from about 30 metres away and they appear to have given up after a few minutes without finding it. After they'd driven off, I popped over to have a look myself and I couldn't find it either.

18-Jan-17
Yes, I re-read the hints and decided I'm coming in far too often/frequently, so took a wee break and look! A new card. Woohoo! That's the problem with working in front of a computer all day... easy to keep checking Smile

True optimism, or random guesses Wink

I'm hoping another one will come up soon - still only got one so far. I assume this is meant to be the case. Reminds me of Yoda and lessons about patience... Smile

17-Jan-17
Looks easy enough, but likely to be an exercise in frustration for some. Just as well we have a static IP address Smile

07-Jan-17
I did a quick check on this while walking the dog today, and have updated the hint, as I know how frustrating it can be to look for these sorts of ones under tree cover, especially when using a phone.

The glue from the hot glue gun isn't holding the letters/numbers in the lid quite as well as I'd hoped, so I'll have to pop down again with some superglue to get it stuck in a bit better, and will check all the others too.

Possibly my GPS watch isn't as accurate as I thought it was, but both times I've looked it had me looking in not quite the right spot when in fact the cache turned out to be about 2 to 3 metres away. But found it is and I'm the 3rd person on the log sheet for this one today! TFTC and I finally have all 5 of these ones. #217

04-Jan-17
I ran along here yesterday to explore but didn't realise there were caches here until I got back home to log the ones I found at the east end of the reserve. So back today for some more trail running and to find this. Just as well there was the hint, because my GPS was telling me it was somewhere deep in the bush behind the fence. Quickly located and funnily enough I didn't spot the meaning of the title until I got near the hint. Log nice and dry still. TFTC. #215
