I heard that the weather would be cool today so figured, "Today's the day".
A week or so ago I had heard from Jake that this was the first geocache in Arizona and, given that I love the Bulldog Canyon area, I just had to go for this one.
Parked just over a half mile from the cache and, water bottle in hand, started my hike to the cache. Lots of dodging of brush, up and down river washes, then the sun came out from behind the clouds, ugh. I'm not sure why I started to bonk ( I guess that I didn't have enough for breakfast ) but I was hurting by the time I made it to the cache area, a quick find, whew.
On the way back, a bit of suffering through the bonk but I eventually made it back to the Jeep - thank goodness there was air conditioning and an ice cold Gatorade waiting for me.
T : Yellow Jeep ( to be dropped off in an event tonight ) + a swag item ( Halloween Radioactive 2006 geocoin )
Left : Unactivated Alberta Rose geocoin
Thanks for a cool cache, lots of history in that can.

Target # 39 - Life Imitates Art Imitates Life
Calgary, Alberta - The Famous Five
I was in the area looking for a cache that is about 30 meters from these women. I had known about these statues for a long time and hadn't bother logging them because I didn't think that they'd still be available. However, after some checking I realized that they were still up for grabs, YO!
The Famous five, led by Emily Murphy, worked for 12 years to get women legally declared "persons" - these statues honor their efforts.

Found this one while caching with CBfan. We decided to get out Calgary for some fresh air and I spotted this one while driving in the country. Did a quick stop and took some pics.
Thanks!

Las Vegas, Balley Hotel shopping "center"
I found this while vacationing in Las Vegas in one of the ubiquitous shopping centers in the city.
Because I couldn't get a signal in the shopping mall I ballparked the coords in MapSource.

I was here yesterday but forgot to bring my camera. I just happened to drive by again and did a quick stop, jumped out the car and took the pic. I almost took a pic of the nearby one but, which has already been claimed, whew!
Thanks!

Found while on a Edmonton caching trip with XRN95. We were on a tour of the Legislative Building ( looking for a benchmark ... shhh! ) and the tour guide stopped by this door. I blinked a coupla times ... "Hand-carved door!"
I couldn't get a signal since it was indoors so will post the set of coordinates that are for the benchmark ... which we couldn't find, - it was nearby but up one floor, where the tour didn't take us, rrrr! [:(!]

Calgary, Alberta - Parkland Community Center
This park has MANY activities to keep you busy : tennis courts, a water park ( well, a buncha kiddie sprinklers ), picnic areas, and a disc golf course.
I spotted this while on the way to find "Micro @ The Beach". Did a quick detour and took some pics.

Finally got around to snagging this one, it's been on my "To do" list for far too long.
I called my daughter Lauren up and had her set things up picture capture-wise. Very begrudgingly she agreed to help - "Hey Lauren, about that gift of life? You're WELCOME!"
Waited for a few minutes while the camera swung from City Hall to Olympic Plaza. Some tourists, numerous cameras in hand, started to hover around me and I was worried that I'd be lost in the picture - thankfully they moved to my right under the green metal structure ( you can still see on in the pic ) and the picture snapped one of me all alone, hand on hip, talking on the phone!
Thanks!

South of Calgary, north of the Bow
On July 23 I logged a find for another mini-grain elevator, located at N 52° 16.958 W 113° 52.761 by Sylvan Lake. Actually XRN95 noticed it and graciously let me log it.
However, back in Dec. 18 of last year I had noticed this one but wasn't doing locationless caches at the time. When I started doing locationless and noticed 3jaze's Mini Grain Elevators lc I always had this one in the back of my mind, was it a mini-grain elevator or not, I couldn't remember.
Then, when snagging "Flats? Hoodoo U think UR foolin?" and on the way to "Nice View" I drove by this one again and confirmed that it was a mini-grain elevator.
I decided to delete my other find and log this one for two reasons :
1) I actually found this one!
and
2) It is exactly what 3jaze is looking for : a kiddie bus stop that looks like a mini-grain elevator

Gurnet Point, Plymouth, Massachusetts
My wife and I went on a whale-watching trip today and I saw this one on the way out about 1km away. Took some pics from the boat and it was a good thing as the road to the lighthouse is closed to the public. I ballparked the coords using MapSource - I believe that they're pretty accurate..
From my research on this lighthouse, except for special occasions this lighthouse is nost accessible to the public. Thus, my pics may be the closest that I can get unless I take a boat and get closer ... no thanks.
History :
The present Plymouth Light—also known as Gurnet Light—is located 3.8 nautical miles northeast of Plymouth, Massachusetts.
The Gurnet was built in 1768 with two lights on the property of John and Hannah Thomas, who also became the first lighthouse-keepers; however the lights were too close together and from a distance could only be seen as a merged, single beam of light.
In 1778, the lighthouse was struck by a cannonball and was repaired. In 1790 the state turned the lighthouse over to the federal government who installed the first woman lighthouse-keeper.
The lighthouse burned in 1801 and the government then rebuilt it as twin towers. In 1842 the crumbling towers were replaced with two white octagonal pyramidal towers. The lights were 70 feet above sea level. However, the problem of the "merging lights" remained. In 1871 a fourth-order fresnal lens was installed, greatly increasing the strength of the lights.
In 1914 the Cape Cod Canal opened, giving new importance to the Gurnet as a navigational aid. In 1924 the Bureau of Lighthouses discontinued one of the twin lights as it phased out multiple lights. The remaining light still stands.
In 1997 the Coast Guard moved the lighthouse back from the eroding 45-foot cliff. It was standing only 50 feet from the edge when it was placed on rollers and moved by tracks 140 feet from its previous site.
It now sits on the property of Fort Andrews at Gurnet Point. In 1999, the Coast Guard turned Gurnet Light over to Project Bug Light. The original 4th order Fresnel lens is on display at the Hull Lifesaving Museum in Hull, Massachusetts.

South of Calgary, Alberta, between Calgary and High River on Highway 2, hiding in the trees.
I was driving to High River to look for a cache when I just barely saw this on the left, hiding on me. I marked the location to check out on the way back home.
Checked the cache out from a closer road and, yup, it's a round barn ( big door on one "side" ).
Took a few pics and off I went! Man, I never thought that I'd find one!
