Logs for slackie

05-Apr-11
This cache was hi-jacked by moderators and moved very early on in it's lifecycle, so the clues never really reflected where the cache was... in fact after someone moved it I never found it!! So as I am unable to maintain it I have disabled the listing.

Yip.....well done! And "big ups" for the commitment shown in access vehicle!! Would've been a big effort!

Yip well done...and you're right it's not a well kept secret! In fact the "lodge" in the description is no longer there (nor is the boat ramp) as the owner is attempting to erect "high quality timeshares" or something similar...shame...was a cool spot!

Have removed the entries that didn't actually find the Virtual Cache. It's not supposed to be easy, but the GoogleMaps picture sure takes most of the fun away! GoogleMaps wasn't around when I created the cache

Well Done TeamK1w1...looks like a fabulous boat too...what wood work!! I see you discovered the method of using the kneeboard to support the chillibin, whilst sitting in an upturned bouyancy vest...pure paradise!!

[Found it this time...visited a week or so ago but kids didn't find it...returned today after school and (with the help of the hint) turned out to be an easy find...

Also helps to be able to dangle a six year old by the ankles to keep your own feet dry!!

Sorry Wakiwi, rules for Virtual Cache are quite specific ... must supply what is required. How about taking another visit there seeing as you know where to go?!? Just the place to visit in cold weather!! (as I'm sure you're aware)

Took the kids (3yr & 5yr) on another "Treasure Hunt". Didn't find this one. Maybe has been lost during recent rain/floods?? Found the two items mentioned in the clue and a couple of good hiding places but no cache ... kids gutted ... never mind, off to Paku View!!

Chappie in the Jail sure looked the worst for wear ... trendy runners though!!

After not finding "Bring a Torch", the kids (3yr & 5yr) and I struck the jackpot with this one. Easy find. Etrex lead us right to the spot.
OUT: toy train and bouncy ball
IN: Swedish Chef and Camel toys

Again went Treasure Hunting with kids (5yrs and 3yrs) after breakfast, took a while to find, was looking at the wrong P tree but finally uncovered it at 8:30am.

Once found it was guarded by a spider with a red flash on its back...don't know what a Katipo looks like, but thought this might be one!

In: golf tees
Out: compass

CACHE NEEDS A NEW LOG BOOK

22-Sep-03
Took the kids (boy 5yrs, girl 3yrs) on a Treasure Hunt. We've been up here so many times, and yet never known this cache was here (only a newbie at geocaching). Searched for about 5 mins before uncovering it. Kids loved finding the treasure! Was quite a challenge to keep the kids from disappearing over the edges!!

Took 2 shells (1 each)
Left a golf ball.

And got the kids down in 1 piece (each!).

[Encrypted text just my rant]
Hmmm ... whilst I sympathise with reuben (I too lost a teenage friend as a child to drowning, but in a 3ft deep fenced swimming pool with adult supervision not 20ft away!) ... I believe that cachers should take care and assess their own risk and ability - as indeed the previous cachers have. In these PC days I don't believe we should be forced to provide fenced wheelchair access to absolutely every activity available. Please don't take this as insulting to those with physical disabilities - it is not intended to be so.

[As I am new to this game I will bow to those in the know and will return when able to relocate the cache.

In the meantime if you still wish to find the cache then
1. Do NOT jump in the river
2. Do NOT fall in the river
3. Take care with footing as it may be very slippery
4. As mentioned in the description - this is not for the faint hearted. Terrain rating is now 6+/5.
5. Assess your ability before climbing anything that may take you out over the water.]

Called past on the way to work for a quick search at 12:45pm (only had 10 mins available). Initially Legend led me to a different deeper hidy hole ... was a little (actually A LOT) reluctant to plunge my hand down to do a tactile search - not too fond of wetas!! Instead walked back toward the path for a second approach. This time GPS took me straight to the cache. Took only memories of the Rat and left only log entry! Might try the Gardens next.

Well I should be able to find it ... I put it here!

Just returned to photo and insert logbook and pencil ... actually quite a nice place for a picnic - picturesque ... wouldn't recommend swimming (tho have seen kids do it!) as there is quite a current with many eddies. Great place to watch the Bridge to Bridge waterski races - up close and (almost) personnal!!

Went looking yesterday (16th) but Muggle with beer in hand (10am) kept leaning on the fence, right by the [zrgny pnc]!! Will return another day!

Came back today...found it!

Had nothing to leave so (except GPS or car keys!) left nothing & took nothing, but got wet in downpour!!
