Logs for ytrohS

21-Oct-18
The first thing we did today was come here and take a picture for this virtual cache. Thanks a lot for taking us here. We might not have seen this spot without this geocache.

20-Oct-12
Me and Flo.33 went for a walk through the centre of Christchurch today. We hadn't really expected to see so much damage which was caused by the 2011 earthquake, just another catastrophe... well, what was I doing on 11 September 2001? I just remember that I was studying when a friend of mine asked me whether I knew something about what was currently going on in the US... as I hadn't heard the news so far I switched the TV on... they broadcasted it on nearly every TV station... Firefighters really do a great job! Thanks!

On our way to Christchurch we had to stop for the Moeraki Boulders of course Smile. Thanks a lot for the cache here at the car park.

On our way to Christchurch we stopped here for a while and went to the bay. The information which is necessary to log this cache was easy to find. Thanks a lot for this cache and making us aware of this place.

We found this cache when walking back to the car park after we had been to the Boulders Smile. Thanks for hiding.

Me and Flo.33 stopped here to have a look at the pillow lava which we came across just by reading the listing of this cache. We went through the penguin viewing area to the start of the path where a sign said that the path is currently closed due to subsidence. Hmmm, so we weren't quite sure whether we should go on the track or not. Well, the listing said, that we can Wink, so we finally decided to go... the pillow lava is pretty impressing. We've also seen a sea lion on our way back to the penguin colony. Thanks a lot for this earthcache and making us aware of this place.

Flo.33 and me simply had to visit this place. These boulders look amazing! Thanks for all the information about them, especially about the cracks which I find pretty weird Wink. Thanks a lot for this nice Earthcache.

19-Oct-12
The petrified forest has been a must-see for us while beeing down there at the coast Smile. So we were checking for the tidal times at an i-site beforehand. Thanks a lot for this nice Earthcache about Curio Bay!

We stopped here for the nice view. I then checked whether there is maybe a cache around here too... Yes Smile! Finding the cache wasn't a problem with the help of the hint. TFTC.

We also stopped for the most southerly point of New Zealand's South Island and went for a walk to the signpost. On our way we had to look for this cache of course Wink. Thanks a lot for hiding.

Flo.33 wanted to visit the castle so bad. When we finally arrived there the gates had been closed already. We had a look around there but couldn't catch any glimpse of the castle Sad. Well, at least we were able to find this cache. Nice stash! Thanks a lot for the cache I also left a coin there.

We went along the Catlins Scenic Route and this has been one of our stops there. The cache was easy to find, I nearly fell over it Wink... ok not quite but I went up the hill to take a picture of the lighthouse and stuff so I've been very close already. Thanks a lot for the cache!

18-Oct-12
A couple of days ago, Flo.33 and me got a text message of our fellow travellers, who were doing a somewhat different tour, saying that the road to Milford is currently closed due to rock fall, that they couldn't get through and therefore had to change plans. Oh no Sad... We had also planned to go there and now we didn't know what to do... we decided to drive down to Te Anau anyway hoping for the road to be open again when we get there Smile. Well, we spent an additional day in Fiordland waiting Wink. We went to Doubtful Sound that day. On the first day the road to Milford was open again, we had to go there of course and went on one of these cruises on the fiord Smile. That was quite nice, well... the weather wasn't... we had one out of these 182 days Wink. We took a picture outside anyway which actually looks pretty awesome with the fog and so on. Well, thanks a lot for this nice Earthcache and also for your fast reply with the permission to log this cache.

You couldn't really speak of a mirror lake the day we've been there Wink. It was raining and there was no reflection at all. But it's a really nice spot when the sun is out. Thanks a lot for the cache.

17-Oct-12
As the road to Milford was still closed and we couldn't really go there due to rock fall, we decided to book a day trip from Te Anau to Doubtful Sound by bus and boat. Well, that's why we also had only a couple of minutes to look around here and search for the cache. Fortunately it was easy to find Smile. Thanks a lot for it. I kind of liked visiting the power station by the way Smile...

16-Oct-12
On our way to Te Anau, Flo.33 and me stopped here to find out more about this glacial erratic. It was kind of hard to answer all the questions as unfortunately the sign is currently missing. But it's a very nice place for a rest stop Smile. Thank you for the Earthcache.

I visited the goldfield, that is to say what's left of it Wink, together with Flo.33. Thanks a lot for this virtual cache about it.

I actually read about Kingston Flyer in my guide book, so we stopped here for a couple of minutes. And of course I had to search for this cache which was easy to find with the help of the hint Smile. TFTC.

We also stopped here, well just for the cache actually, but the view was also great Wink. TFTC!

Me and Flo.33 went to Logantown today and did the whole walkway. It was really interesting to read about gold mining and to see all the ruins there. Thanks a lot for the Earthcache about it!

Stopped here for the lookout on our way to Queenstown. Thanks for hiding Smile

We found this cache when we had been on our way to Te Anau. Thank you for hiding.

15-Oct-12
Our guide book said that we need to go and visit this place Wink. We then found out that there is this virtual cache about it. Nice! Thanks a lot for this cache!

14-Oct-12
At the carpark it said on a sign what we should expect to get wet feet during the walk to the face of the glacier Very Happy. Well, luckily it wasn't that bad and Flo.33 and me made it to the face of the glacier Smile, well, that is to say the barrier... thank you for the cache and also pointing us to the 1750 marker etc., which we probably wouldn't have noticed without this cache.

We went to Lake Matheson after having been to the glaciers, but unfortunately the weather hasn't been good enough to see the famous reflections. I upload a picture anyway. It was sunny, but foggy or even hazy, so that we could hardly see any reflection in the lake Wink. We tried again on the next morning, but we didn't have any luck either. Anyway, thanks for the cache!

The weather had been great today, so perfect for a visit of the Franz Josef Glacier! We went for a walk to the face of the glacier and did a slight detour to this viewing platform for this Earthcache, which is a really nice one by the way Smile. So thank you very much for it!

13-Oct-12
Stopped here together with Flo.33. Thanks a lot for the Earthcache and pointing us to this historic spot.

We visited Londonderry Rock on a really rainy day, probably just because there is a geocache about it Smile. I went for a walk here together with Flo.33 and we had been all wet afterwards Very Happy. Londonderry Rock is quite a big rock actually! Thanks a lot for the cache.

Flo.33 and me have probably chosen the best day to visit the Punakaiki Pancake Rocks... well, not really Wink. The weather had been extremely rainy and windy, so only great to see the Blowholes in action! Flo's camera didn't seem to like it very much either and stopped working. Wasn't a very good morning! Back at the i-site we had to find out that the underground rafting, that we had booked for today, got cancelled due to the weather conditions... oh man Sad! Apart from that, great spot! I took a couple of nice pictures anyway Smile. So TFTC!

While beeing in NZ we came across a lot of nephrite jade everywhere. I originally wanted to take a picture in a jewellery shop in Hokitika. But since the shops were closed already that day I took a picture with some jade that I found next to the Jade Factory. Thank you for the cache.

11-Oct-12
Originally, Flo.33 and me wanted to do this Earthcache already yesterday, but we simply couldn't walk anymore Very Happy when we finally had been back at Marahau after a whole day out hiking along the Abel Tasman Coast Track. So visiting Marahau marble had been the first thing we did this morning. The path down to the shore is really nice and we enjoyed this Earthcache a lot. Thank you very much for it, all the interesting information about the marble and also your quick reply Smile

I think it was tourist radio which pointed us to the Te Waikoropupu Springs. So we stopped and went for a walk. It's really incredible how clear the water of the spring is! What a beautiful place! Thanks a lot for the cache.

09-Oct-12
We went on this really nice walkway along the coastline and I accidentally found out that there is a cache at the bay when I checked my phone. I really need to say that the cache was well-hidden! It took us forever to find it and the hint somehow didn't really help much. Anyway, we found it, right? Thanks for the cache.

After arriving at Picton with the Interislander Ferry, Flo.33 and me went for a walk along the coast. It was actually him who finally found the cache Smile. Thanks a lot for the big cache.

08-Oct-12
"Wetlands" really applied on the day Flo.33 and myself have been there Wink. We've been all wet after leaving the Museum of New Zealand and doing this single cache Smile... thanks for hiding!

This cache was easy to find. Thank you.

07-Oct-12
Me and Flo.33 did the geothermal walk through the Craters of the Moon today and since we knew that there is this Earthcache about it, we were watching out for the answers of course Smile. Thanks a lot for the cache.

We also stopped by the Huka Falls on a nice and sunny day. Tourist radio told us that we have to Wink. Thanks a lot for the Earthcache and all the information about the falls.

Flo.33 and myself have been at Wai-O-Tapu this morning and went to the Lady Knox Geyser just in time to see it erupt at 10am. I kind of like geysers, hot springs and stuff Wink. I have also been to Yellowstone NP last year... anyway, thanks a lot for the Earthcache about the geyser.

As Flo.33 has written already, we've been to Wai-O-Tapu and a couple of other nice places, such as hot pools, which can be found nearby. The water had been pretty pleasant Smile. Thanks a lot for the earthcache.

06-Oct-12
After having been to the Buried Village, which is really good by the way, Flo33 and me stopped here at the lookout. We had a look around and were gathering all the information we needed in order to do this earthcache Smile. Thanks a lot for this really nice one.

While being in Rotorua, of course Flo.33 and me had to go to the Kuirau Park and visit the hot pools. Pretty impressive! Thanks a lot for the Earthcache.

05-Oct-12
It has been a very nice day when Flo.33 and myself visited the cave. The sun was shining and Cathedral Cave just looked terrific that morning! I would have liked to stay there a little bit longer, but we had to move on to see some of the other beautiful sights of NZ... thanks a lot for the Earthcache.

04-Oct-12
We actually didn't have such a good view that day, but heavy rain! And we were all wet when we arrived back at the car Very Happy. Anyway, thank you very much for the virtual cache at this historic site.

I visited Gannet's Rock together with Flo.33 this morning. It took us quite a while to measure the rock and stuff Wink. Thank you very much for the Earthcache and pointing us to this interesting location.

Before we went to Hot Water Beach we were checking the tidal times at one of the i-sites. We wanted to make sure that it is still possible to dig our own spa when we finally get there Smile. When we arrived, we went straight to the beach where we also met the rest of our fellow travellers. It was pretty cold that day so that I didn't really want to have a bath Wink. We were digging anyway of course... well, after a while we had a nice little pool, unfortunately far too hot for us!! So we tried again a little further. This hole wasn't bad, so Flo.33 and me had a nice warm footbath. Thanks a lot for the earthcache.

02-Oct-12
We went down to the famous lighthouse and signpost this evening and stopped at every plaque on the walkway. It has all been very interesting for us. Many thanks to the owner for this nice Earthcache and the quick reply to our email.

Flo.33 and me had been pretty much in a hurry to get to Cape Reinga still during daylight. But we finally made it and spent quite some time there waiting for the sunset Smile. A really nice location, but also cold and windy Sad. Thank you very much for the cache.

We actually spent last night at Takapuna Beach Holiday Park and just before leaving I realised that there is an Earthcache right next to it. So of course we had to do it Smile. The weather wasn't great, but the walk along the beach and over the rocks was Smile. Thank you very much for showing us this interesting place.
