Logs for Geoforce 5
13-Jan-07
I don't know - call it sheer dumb luck - but I thought Id have a crack at this one at 10.15pm at night after visiting someone who lives nearby - with nothing but a pen and my gps (no torch) I found it in under 30 secs once the gps settled. Are there coins and TB's in this one ??? Id have to have a closer look to work out how that could be. Anyway signed the log in the company of one very large cane toad who was sitting nearby. Brilliant hiding spot - nice work.
22-Nov-06
Found this one fairly easily after gps settled on a direction. Left King Boreas Geocoin. TNSL.
Well sometimes it pays to read the logs doesnt it - I searched the most obvious place first only to recieve 5 green ant bites on the forearm - then decided perhaps the kids might like to help look for this one after school. Returned later that day and had now decided we had a fairly good idea where to look, when one of the kids saw a snake go right into presumed GZ. You think the kids wanted to keep looking - Nooooooo - lol. Will leave this for another day.
Found this one fairly quickly - Left Jeremiah the Bullfrog TB - Also happened to find a coles carry bag with a large torch and a hammer inside - presumably for clubbing wayward geocachers???
28-Sep-06
Found this one very easily - and luckily for us it was a very quiet part of the day in Cowes. Then again - who really takes notice of 5 over-excited children running around here anyway. Took Geocoin and will take it back to Queensland with me next week for a new hiding place.
Found this one in what I would have thought was a place which could so easily get muggled - but alas it seems the camouflage has kept it nicley out of sight. I think one of the kids took a small torch which didnt work - and we left some water balloons. Thanks for the cache. The kids also had fun running amok in the playground.
27-Sep-06
Being so close to the lighthouse cache - we couldnt drive past this one and not have a go. As we entered the boardwalk area we saw a large brown snake dart out from under us and into the wetlands grasses - no doubt there to make a meal out of the local frog population which inhabits this area. The kids were a bit over cautious about searching after seeing the snake so it was left to me to retieve the cache. TNLNSL.
Found this one without too much trouble (well the kids did the dirty work anyway) - Took the Oompa Loompah TB and will take him back to Qld with me next week.
Also removed a cigarette lighter from the cache - why would you put one in a cache anyway ????

Well either this one is so easy I cant see the wood for the trees - or its no longer here - 2 visits in 1 morning and I conducted what I considered a fairly extensive search but turned up nothing. Will go back and try again sometime but might wait for another found it log by another geocacher to be sure its still there 1st.
Even when I knew where to lookit still took me a while to actually find this one - very nice cache.
Had to take my time with this one so as to avoid joggers / dog walkers etc.... Found with little trouble - another great cache.
Well this one was a little more tricky - the gps had me way off mark and 5m south of the actual location. Ready to give up after 20 min search - went back to the car - deciphered the clue and went back for a quick find.
13-Aug-06
Found this one in ? mid july - forgot to log it so if anyone finds my log let me know and Ill enter the correct date. TNLNSL.
24-Mar-06
Found on the 2nd visit here - had a vague cryptic clue from the 24/7 Garner Family crisis help line - not a very easy cache during daylight hours given the area - but went into stealth overdrive to discreetly replace it. Actually I just waited for everyone to leave.
Found this one fairly quickly afetr a process of elimination (I didnt have cache description on hand) - what a gem of a place - and nice views to boot.
It pays to advertise and it also pays to be here at the right time. There were 2 B105 Black Thunders handing out all sorts of stuff ( magazines, soft drinks, movie tickets etc...) thus I sat down for a bite to eat drink and a read (cheers B105), whilst waiting for the crowds to disappear. All said and done in less than 5-6 mins.
Well its been a while since Ive done some caching so that probably explains why I needed a hint from The Garner Family help line. A level 1 difficulty - I spent half an hour here waiting for the right opportunity and another half hour looking but alas I couldnt for the life of me work it out. The gps was a little jumpy and couldnt decide where to point me. It eventually settled in one area and whaddaya know - there it was. Thanks to Adam for the clue to get me started.
Found this one nice and easily - if you're after a travel bug - this is the cache - its stuffed full of them. If Im correct then this one should bring me up to my 50 - and I dont mind saying that it has taken me far too long to get there. Thanks Wingaap - I did 8 caches today - all of them yours.
Found this one after a couple in mins searching - I didnt have the cache description with me - so I wasnt sure what sort of cache this was - but as it turned out I didnt need it. What a nice little area. Plenty of development going on nearby.
Found this one very easily - practically a drive-by. So open and yet so hidden. Nice one.
23-Mar-06
Spent 45 mins searching here for this one but came up empty handed - will have to try again next time.
Found this one this morning @ 0850 whilst killing time between appointments. TNLNSL.

Walked around and looked in what I thought would be ideal hiding areas but alas - no find today - will be back again for another attempt
I think it was on this day anyway - found quuite easily - no-one in sight at the time - copped a dew oucjies replacing it before someone came along.
This one actually took 2 attempts as my led light wasntt working too well the first time - hints made this one quite easy - log book was absolutely soaked and needs replacing.
20-Feb-06
Thought Id have a go at this one on the way to work tonight - Despite a couple of passer bys and light traffic I managed to find this one in about 30 secs (2155 hrs)- filled out the log back in the car and returned cache back in its hiding spot. Ahhh to be sure, to be sure, to be sure - this ones never gonna get wet after some over zealous bagging - lol.
Thanks for the cache.

07-Dec-05
Went to do this one today - it took us to a to a place popular with people alright - a cemetery - but we figured not such a popular place for kids and bikes - now I get home and read the updated co-ordinates - will be out again soon to tackle this one.
06-Dec-05
Found today in the company of Adam from The Garner Family - pleasant walk (even in this heat) but plenty of mozzies about. Easy find.
Well its been a long time coming - but finally a FTF !!
Did this one with Adam from "The Garner Family" - you'd think that with a expert geocacher like this on side we'd literally walk right up to it with no problems whatsoever. Or do you think we perhaps approached from the wrong side -crossed creeks - tunneled under barb wire fences - traversed perimeter fences - and then walk straight past the most obvious clue !!!! Anyway - although it was the hard way - it was certainly the fun way to get there. Thanks for the cache.

Found it this afternoon at 1550 hrs - beaten to a FTF by The Garner Family (does this man ever slow down???) Didn't know about this place and have to agree that it had some degree of preparation involved. Oh well - the elusive FTF will have to wait for another daY.
26-Nov-05
Hadnt done a geocache in nearly 5-6 months - so it was about time I got out again - took the kids and found this one yesterday morning - kids acted as lookouts while I located the cache. Easy find.
Another Dooghan cache I did back in June but never logged - Found very easily from memory - found with The Garner Family, however the kids were all far too busy in the playground to join in the search for this one.
Found back in June 11th or 12th (yet another I never got around to logging) Found in the company of The Garner Family - we finally found this at 9.30 pm. Was a little difficult finding the way up to the cache at first (amazing how easier it becomes when you find a track though. The reason for the name of the cache discovered with the cache nearby. Great spot Dooghan. Sorry for the late log.
25-Nov-05
Iwas up this way for a family reunion back in June and never actually logged my find. Found in company with The Garner Family around lunchtime.Hardly anyone around at the time so made searching without suspicion a little easier. Clever hide - thanks for the cache Dooghan.

Well it looks like we missed a good day. But the Geoforce 5 clan will definitley be there for the next one. Well done Garner Family for organising what appears to have been a great event.

Found this one at 1100 am in the company of agsmky. had never been up here despite living so close to it for many years. Interesting location. Had a quick explore of the caves and continued on.
Thanks Rogainer.

Saw this one pop up on the site and thought to myself mmmmmm.... a FTF - that would be nice - havent had one of those before. Made my way to the areea and saw another car there.....nooooooooo I said - as if there would be another geocacher here. Found the cache only to discover I had been beaten by just 5 minutes by agsmky. AAAARRRGGGGHHH!!!!!!!
Next thing you know agsmky busts me finding the cache. !st time I've come across a fellow geocacher. So after a brief introduction we decided to do another couple of caches together.
Thanks for the good company Andrew and thanks to Geoblask for the cache. My FTF will have to wait for another day.
TNSL - also dropped in Rainbow Cafe (New Jersey) TB into the cache.

Found this one (again with agsmky)around midday today. Parked at the lookout and proceeded down the track. Well it was a toss up - use common sense and take the track - or a couple of hundred meters as the crow flies ??? Hell - how hard can it be - the crows won. We took off down the hillside only to be greeted by some very nasty lantana at the bottom - but far too late now to turn back. After leaving a trail of blood and flesh for the last 100m we finally made it to GZ. Phew !!!!
Noticed in the logs that Lt Sniper did this one at night following the same path as us - now that would have been a challenge!!!

Doornob TB was placed in this cache back in Febuary by me - I however accidentally lost his tracking number. I emailed the owner who said he would email the details to me so I could complete the log. Unfortunately he never got back to me and thus he has been lost in the system for a little while. I placed him into this cache as it was the closest to the airport I could find and he wants to get to the UK.
A big thanks to agsmky who found him and contacted me with the details. He is now back online and ready for travel.

After attending the Anzac Dawn Service (4.28am) and breakfast at the casino, we took the kids for a stroll thru the botanical gardens. Found this one just as we were about to give up. Took Rainforest Cafe NJ TB.
Wisley neglected to tell the wife and kids about the resident snake (tho he was no-where to be seen on this occasion).

Found this one at lunchtime today - took the kids to southbank for the day and whilst waiting for the citycat we couldn't resist having a quick search. Found by my daughter after a coulpe of minutes searching. Didn't have anything to trade but took Jeramiah the Bullfrog TB. Also placed Jeep TB in the cache after a somewhat extended stay at our place (he was actually lost for some weeks amongst my sons car collection)

Jeep TB dropped in in Combination Bravo - just wanted to be sure I logged it properly cause he still shows up on my inventory.

There have been many things getting in the way and preventing me from finishing this one off for the past couple of weeks - but on my way home from work tonight I decided it was high time I finished it.
The only difficut WP for me was WP3. For the life of me I couldn't get my checksum to add up - until I realised I had misread a small but vital part of the calculations ( I mistook II for the number 11 !!!
For the final WP I ended up doing the last 90m thru bush - (note to self - always check previous logs - lol )GPS died halfway there but luckily I always carry spare batteries. Encountered heaps of cane toads and large spiders along the way. Finally found cache at 9.45 pm. My torch anly just lasted long enough to get back to the car.
All in all a most enjoyable series and I would highly recommend to anyone with a few spare hours (not to mention a small degree of bravery) to tackle this one.
Thanks to jrfreak for setting this one up.

Found this one on the way home from work this afternoon in fading light. 2nd visit here and would never have found it without a clue from the Garner Family. Don't know if it was cloud cover or tree cover but the gps was a good 12m out from GZ. TNLNSL.
Thats one down in this series and now onto the others.

Spent 2 hours on this one yesterday - gps was a little jumpy but always led me to the same spot. Unlike Lt Sniper I didn't have any trouble with security - but Im sure there were some people wondering what in the world I was doing. I had a good cover story just in case.
Will try this one again soon.

I have emailed my answer to the owners but it appears they have not logged into the site since late Feb. I believe I have not only worked out the answer but I can also specify the location of the the odd one out.
If it turns out Im wrong then this log / find will be changed accordingly.

I now understand the reason behind the title Lt Sniper. Took me nearly 30 mins to locate this one - I was sure the gps was inaccurate - but alas it turns out it was very accurate indeed. Its a tough call to trust the gps or your logic sometimes isn't it.
Really enjoyed this one. Thanks Lt Sniper.

Did this one without the kids as they were not too keen about no "treasure" to claim at the end of it. Too bad really cause they missed out on a spectacular view. Like previous log I too was briefly stumped on the name of the park at WP1 but logic told me it was there somewhere.
Thanks for a great series so far Crew 153.
