Logs for Albany Canucks

24-Apr-24
Thanks to geocacher [domsky](https://www.geocaching.com/p/?guid=e428eb76-5eb4-4151-8a91-d8443dbc14ad) for giving this cache some TLC, and getting things in good order again.

27-Feb-24
Cache owner here: unfortunately I'm out of town for quite a while and won't get a chance to fix the cache for a bit. But it's a terrific spot and it would be a shame for it to need archiving. So if another geocacher does come here and is in a position to help give the container the love it needs, that would be amazing and appreciated.

23-Jan-23
After a series of DNFs, it looks like this cache has sadly gone walkabout. It will be too long before I'm back in the Albany area to replace it, so I'll have to archive it.

Over 300 finds in nearly ten years has made it well worthwhile, and I hope all the geocachers who went hunting for this cache enjoyed the superb location!

10-Oct-22
Hearty thanks to geocacher shonkylogic for replacing the container and logbook, and assisting to get this cache back in action again.

Not many people know about this upper lookout, so I hope that this cache will continue to encourage geocachers to visit and enjoy the superb views from here.

17-Jun-22
The "needs maintenance" log posted in 2019 was subsequently dealt with, so no problem with the cache.

18-Jan-22
Cache owner here. I visited the site in early January 2022, and the cache is still there, and easy to find (previous clue no longer applies, it should be very visible upon arrival at GZ).

06-Jan-21
Replacement cache is up and running.

Cache has been replaced, and activated for finding.

29-Dec-20
Cache owner here. Unfortunately I have been out of town for a lengthy strength. However I plan to be in Albany next week, and hope to replace this cache at that time.

30-Aug-20
This really shouldn't be that hard to find, and three consecutive DNFs makes me afraid it might have gone missing. Disabling for now.

23-Aug-20
Back in action, courtesy of the friendly and helpful Southern Boomers team.

With many thanks to Southern Boomers for helping out, this cache has a replacement in the same location as the original, and is back in action again!

11-Aug-20
After multiple DNFs, it looks like this cache has gone the way of the dodo.

It may be time to retire this geocache, since I'm currently away from the Albany/Denmark area for an extended time, and won't readily have the opportunity to replace it.

There's a slim chance I'll be travelling to this area in the next month or two, so for now I'll temporarily disable the listing. But unless I (or another friendly geocacher local to the area) can replace it before the end of September, I'll have to archive it.

Sadly it's time to retire this cache. The two previous visitors may just have missed this cache, but it's more likely that it's gone missing.

It's a long (but beautiful) hike to get here, and I'm currently away from the Albany/Denmark area for an extended time, and won't have the opportunity to come here to check the cache or replace it.

Thanks to all those who did make the effort to come here!

17-Jul-20
I'm the cache owner, but I'm out of the area for a considerable time, so regrettably I can't check on the cache right now or provide a replacement if it has gone missing. After two consecutive DNFs, I appreciate any reports from the next visitors here. If there are a couple of more DNFs, I'll sadly have to archive it, unless a fellow geocacher is in a position to replace it. Thanks to everyone who has visited so far and posted a log!

01-Jun-20
After 277 finds, it's time to archive this.

In its current hiding spot, the cache keeps getting waterlogged, and it's not feasible to keep maintaining it. Thanks to all the finders who visited and logged coming here!

It's a great area, however, and look for a new cache coming near Dog Rock very soon from jamesknowlson!

02-May-20
Cache owner here. It's possible that the cache has been washed away, because that has happened previously. If DNF is reported by another geocacher, I will have to archive it, since I'm not in a position to replace it right now.

29-Feb-20
Sadly, it looks like this has gone the way of the dodo, and needs to be archived.

26-Sep-19
This cache is now back in action, with big thanks to Albany geocacher jamesknowlson!

Look for a mint tin wrapped in plastic, and please be sure it remains well protected to keep out the weather. Enjoy!

22-Aug-19
It's time to retire this one. Like Darwin, it looks like this cache has died. But he was still wrong!

16-Jul-19
Fantastic walk on a sunny day in ideal hiking conditions. This is one of my all-time favourite walks in WA. Straight forward find, and I love the cache container too!

03-Jun-19
Sadly, it looks like this cache has gone the way of the dodo, and I'm not in a position to replace it. It's a wonderful area, so hopefully another local geocacher will take the opportunity to place a geocache here somewhere, to help bring people to the amazing view over Dingo's Beach.

Beautiful day, and fantastic spot! Terrific place for a walk on a sunny day, and an easy find.

22-May-19
Cache has been upgraded and is now a small.

Thanks for the maintenance by rosiebogs!

09-Apr-19
Sadly it looks like this cache has disappeared. I'm archiving it, since I'm not in a position to replace it right now.

I am happy for another geocacher to put a new geocache in this area, since it's a wonderful place to visit!

18-Mar-19
Parked at Maali Rise at headed up the long set of steps. Terrific views, and a must place to stop when visiting Peppermint Grove Beach! Well executed cache, loved the container. Thanks Barrikon!

14-Mar-19
This is a post from the owner: I'm currently out of town, so I can't check on this after the recent DNF. But if there are any more DNFs, please do log them. It will be a while before I'm back in Albany, so if the cache has gone missing I'll have to archive it since - unless someone can kindly replace the container (mint tin or similar).

23-Feb-19
Sadly it looks like this cache has disappeared. I'm archiving it, since I'm not in a position to replace it right now.

I am happy for another geocacher to put a new geocache in this spot, with its great views of the surrounding coastline.

18-Jan-19
And we're in action again with a replacement cache at the same location. Happy hunting!

I have completely replaced the container and log book. The previous cache had done its dash, and was looking a little worse for wear.

It looks like this cache has disappeared after a new bench was installed in the area, so I'm archiving it, since I'm not in a position to replace this one right now.

I am happy for another geocacher to put a new geocache in this beautiful area, with its delightful views.

10-Oct-18
Taking this offline temporarily after several DNF reports, so I can check on it personally, and make changes if necessary.

03-Oct-18
Went to check on this cache since it was a very low tide (0.3m), and was even prepared with water shoes for the wading section. But the swell was still rather big (5m), and so the wading section proved a little too dangerous. I decided to give it a miss in the interests of safety, and headed back.

Still a wonderful walk - saw a seal swimming in the surf, a massive crab, a gannet catching an octopus, and of course a very impressive swell and big waves!

Future cachers should carefully check both the tide and the swell to have the best chance of being able to access this cache. I have also replaced the "Final Resting Place" cache, which is on the way to this cache, and gives you an extra incentive to head out here, with two potential smileys up for grabs.

PLEASE DON'T TAKE RISKS, AND BE SAFE!!!

02-Oct-18
Upon request, I have replaced this, so hopefully we can get this unarchived.

It should also be an extra incentive to get the nearby Cathedral Cliffs geocache, so you can get Final Resting Place on the way to that one.

01-Oct-18
Got soaked walking out here today, but it was worth it. The battery operated cache worked fine, and we were glad to have some shelter. Saw some nice wildflowers along the way, and also a large snake. TFTC.

Cache has been replaced, so we are up and running again.

29-Sep-18
After a recent DNF, I went to check on this cache, and sadly it looks like it has been washed away. Time to lay this one to rest.

Sadly this has been muggled multiple times in its current location. I'm sending this one to the archives to give someone else an opportunity to make a hide in this area if they wish - it's a location with spectacular views that deserves visitors.

Meanwhile, my nearby cache "Jimmy Newell's Other Side" is still active - it's a bit more effort to get to, but well worthwhile if you have the time and agility!

27-Sep-18
As cache owner, I visited the site and did a maintenance check - everything is in good order! Always a spectacular place to visit!

26-Sep-18
As cache owner I visited the site and did a maintenance check - everything is in good order!.
The swell wasn't big today, but it's still an impressive place to come.

29-Jun-18
It looks like this is muggled ... yet again! I'll have to reconsider how best to keep this cache here, to ensure it's ongoing longevity. It's a beautiful spot and deserves visitors, but I'll have to find a way to make things more muggle proof.

Judging by the most recent logs, this may have gone missing. I'm disabling it for now, until I have a chance to check up on it.

20-Feb-18
Went to check on the cache today, and sure enough it was gone, and the entire area had been cleaned up. A replacement is in position, and it's ready to go again. Just be sure to make sure it is well covered when returning it to its spot.

24-Jan-18
A spectacularly beautiful day, with sunshine and blue skies, making the beach and waters look stunning, and we really enjoyed spending some time exploring the Tessellated Pavement, and other spots in Tasman National Park. A good hide too, didn't have too much trouble making the find. TFTC Snuva.

23-Jan-18
This proved a little more elusive than it should have been, but we got there in the end - met some other cachers who were also there at the same time. Very cold and windy at the top of Mt Wellington today, but the views were oh so spectacular! Bit of a tricky drive up and down, but it was well worth the effort to get here, and finding a geocache was an extra bonus at the top! Favourite awarded for the location. TFTC Budgietas.

Post by owner: two DNFs in a row might mean it has been muggled again - will be back in Albany in a week or two and hope to check some time soon.

22-Jan-18
Our trip to Bruny Island was one of the highlights of our visit to Tasmania, especially the speedboat cruise.
It was nice to be able to take our own vehicle to the island via the ferry, which was a fascinating experience on its own. Cache was an easy find, and glad to have something to do while waiting more than 30 minutes for the ferry. TFTC!

19-Jan-18
We enjoyed a short visit to Mt Fields National Park, with Russell Falls being the highlight. Not sure it was worth the effort of going up all the steps to check out Horseshoe Falls - wasn't that impressive at the time we visited since not a huge amount of water was coming down, and there weren't any decent views of Russell Falls from the top. But the geocache made it worth coming here, and we did love the spectacular Russell Falls - of all the waterfalls we saw in Tasmania, these were arguably the most impressive in the minds of our family! TFTC Rocket2015

16-Jan-18
Enjoyed our walk along the river, were hoping to see some platypuses which didn't pan out, but still a very scenic family hike - the essence of tranquility! Cache was a nice easy find in an obvious spot. TFTC Milc.

Ideal spot for a family walk, so that's what we did. GZ was 8m off for us today, but a quick find with the help of a good hint - thanks!
