Logs for Les & Jan

26-Sep-05
Thanks to Geocacher "Everlasting" for the information that she couldn't find "Point Zero" and had tried twice. I went to the cache site and it has gone. So as I didn't have a spare to replace it I will temp disable it. Will have it up and running again as soon as possible with a slight jump to the right/left ?? As the cache site has been compromised.

The old folk tried this one this morning, searched high and low. Must admit that we had no idea what we were looking for (The cache is very small). Even had a Google Earth screen shot of the location pinpointing the cache. Maybe another go later.

[;(]Announcement!!!!
The Great Gold Nugget Hunt has been postponed due to lack of numbers.

Sad, Us oldies would have liked this one. I thought that considering the distance from home, PERTH. That the few who had expressed interest would have been enough for this one to go ahead. But what ever……….. Will watch this space.

This sounds interesting it might be an opportunity to set up a couple of pensioners for ever & ever & ever…………. GOLD FEVER …….

We will keep watch on this one, although it is a bit far away it might be worth the effort. A bit of old goanna/kanga in the fire etc. No just joking. Sounds like it will be fun for a couple of oldies.

Caution slippery when wet. I must admit that wintertime isn’t the best time for a bit of Geo-caching. Our “NEW NEW NEW†very new GPS’s reading was out by 6m and as were weren’t really prepared to go swimming I could envision a bit of skinny dipping as the cache looked to be on a small island. But thanks to she who must be obeyed, she spotted it where it was hiding in time, whew…… Logged our visit only and left TB Kangabug. Cache is in good condition.

Well done nice cache, we picked up TB's Kangabug & Tecnic. Left a small toy, Ernie. Logged our visit and we continued on for the day and done five caches for the day. Not bad for an old couple. Cache is in good condition but was tempted for a new toolbox. .... Grin....

Sneaky little thing, managed to get dirty fingernails digging in the WRONG place for it. I think that we are supposed to report the cache condition as a courtesy. Well we must report that the cache is in good condition. ……..GRIN……

We enjoyed this one, but doing parts of it without a parachute was a bit scary. I for one didn’t go too near the edge. Our email answers didn’t get us a plus, but we scraped over the line anyway …. Phew ….

Well this was a strange one; there we were standing out in the middle of nowhere trying to look innocent. Thought that someone from the high-rise buildings would ring the police thinking that we were up to no good. But at present we seem to be safe. I think that we are supposed to report the cache condition as a courtesy. Well we must report that the cache is in good condition. ……..GRIN……

Didn't really know what we were on about on this. Had heard rumours about it. When we found one of the traveller’s it told us a bit of the story and when we found another traveller that gave us the rest and being lucky enough to make note of the first fella's information we knew where to go.

Logged our visit, swapped a small toy car for a key ring.

Well done nice cache chase.

Testing the new Magellan Platinum out. Bit scary this new stuff, but had old faithfull Garmin Plus II with us just in case. Cache is in good condition we took nothing, logged our visit and started our very first TB called That's Interesting, from there. There is no special quest for it just get out there and enjoy its travels.

Found this one on our way home after visiting another geo-cacher seeking info on the Magellan as our Garmin plus II is getting a bit long in the tooth no maps in it. But a very accurate GPS. We done this one with our friend Ian. Just logged our visit. Nothing in Nothing out. Nice cache.

Furthering my friend Ian’s geocaching experience we went for this one. Ian found it on his own this time. Well done.

Entered our visit in the log book, left calling card and a green cricket that fits on the end of your pencil. NO NAUGHTY THOUGHTS PLEASE. Took nothing. Nice place for a cache.

Revisited this cache on 22 May 2004 as it is local to a friend of mine who now has a GPS and wanted to see how geo-caching went. Was surprised to find Solly the TB in there. This enabled us to take things one step further with an explanation on Travel Bugs, what a bonus.

Solly has gone with my friend to meet his wife and will be out and about again soon.

Went and checked the cache to see if everything was well and found that TB Red Arrow had been picked up by Dexter Ditto. We left TB Solly there. We found a pair off shoes plus a 2004 street directory plus a diary at the cache will post a photo of them.

Thought that it would be nice day to go Geocaching. Found it about 11.30am 19 Sept 2003. Jan grabbed the key ring as war bootie. We logged our visit and left a face mask and a police helicopter badge that has flashing lights when turned on.

Found that the co-ords were spot on. And will email our answer as requested.

We went for a drive on Saturday morning looking for this one. We walked it, didnt cheat by using the car and found that all the co-ords were spot on. We left a message in the log book to say that we had been and left a calling card. Jan took the opal pendant as it is her birthstone, we left Tigga and some stickers. Nice contents in this cache.

14-Aug-03

As this was close to home thought that we would duck off and have a look for it between cups of coffee. We found it quite easily and logged our visit but was surprised to find that rowan33 had not logged their visit and taken the TB Aussie Invader. We knew that it was not going to be there before we went but after reading the log and to find that no record of it had been left for the following Geo-Cachers to read was a bit strange. We took the shaver and left a toy, Genie in the teapot.

Plus we picked up a bit of information about some names of the trees in the area as they have been tagged with name plates. Thought that was nice.

That was a nice drive through the bush took nothing from the cache but left DUCKIE the Travel Bug and logged our visit. It is a bit squeesie in the cache so he/she might need rescuing pretty quick. I might go back for a wander through there later as it seems to be a scavenger’s paradise in there.

22-Jul-03

Something you would not believe. Went out and placed a cache at which we thought was a nice spot for one. Came home and posted it up to Geocaching, while I was there I said to look for caches nearby and low and behold guess what it told me. Yep there was another one nearby. So as we knew where to go we whipped around and found it. Will not say how close it is to ours but its quite scary.

11-Jul-03

Boy has the area changed over the years, we liked the area for this cache. We logged our visit in the log book. Saturday 12 July 2003 and took the compass thingie only because it looked good and in its place we left a 28 piece set of wooden Dominoes. Have included a picture of myself at the cache with my HANDS FREE GPS holder MK II around my neck.

Yippee found it. 8.30am Sunday morning. To go along with the cash theme we left 5 pennies and a printout of the cast etc from the movie called FIVE PENNIES staring Danny Kaye. We took a token Singapore 20cent piece for our memorabilia. Logged our visit and took a couple of photos. Round trip was 72.4 klms. Might leave these ones to the younger folks in future. But was still worth it.

Thought that being a nice day we would duck out of the house for this one, nice spot co-ords were spot on found Louie The Fly hiding here, we arranged for him to have his photo taken in the Australian bushland. In his place we left a purple candle in case anyone wanted to have a candlelight dinner in the bush.

Was out and about and thought that we would show our granddaughter what Nan & Pop were talking about when we said we were Geocaching. You know like trying to find things in the bush and other places. You guessed it Reeanne found it before the old folk, which was very pleasing. Was a nice day in the park and the cache is in good condition although it is a bit full. We have taken the TB key ring with the Australian Koala on it, and left a small toy.

Well Bill has had a rest and is on his way again.

25-Apr-03

Wonderful cache we retrieved it quite easily, wasn’t worried about getting our feet wet but was a teeny bit worried about the poo between the toes. We have Bill the Incredible Travelling Intel Bunny man who said that he has to come home with us to find out where he wants to go to. We left in his place a dead mouse. We had to wait nearly three quarters of an hour for some people who just wouldn’t leave before we could replace the cache.

21-Apr-03

Wow what a cache, I was like a little kid in a candy store with all the goodies here, but refrained from pigging out. We left pirate Pete to look after the store and bought Red Dog home for a grilling to find out where he had been and what he had in mind to do in the future.

18-Apr-03

Found this one after a little searching, also found a drug needle disposal case and 140 Panadeine Forte capsules. Both removed for disposal.

We took the Purple flower candle and left a wine goblet. That way if there is a wedding on you could sneak in.

Being non sports minded we avoided the Dockers hat. Sorry.

Les & Jan

Found this one after a little slog through the soft grass, which I must say was pretty hard going as we had to approach it from a couple of different directions to pin it down. Sad to say the cache is completely soaked. I think that it maybe below the high tide mark We took nothing but left a golf ball as a token that we had been there. The water has even managed to get into the bag with the booklet in it.

Wow! What a day. Geocachers Picnic in the Park thanks Michelle & family.

Well done and well organised and also a nice choice of venue.

Was nice to meet some of the Geocachers whose cache’s we had found or attempted to find since we started this traipsing around the countryside lark

Both Jan and I as newbie's had a great day and we were made to fell most welcome.

Thanks again to all.

08-Mar-03

Well we had a good go at this one on Sunday 06 March 2003 around 3pm, boy was it hot. We couldn’t find it, was on hands and knees like a couple of old emus. Looking through the planks. Taking into consideration of the instructions on looking for nasties, I had a feel around under the thing that goes BOOOOOOMMMM’s…. you could fill a bag with what people have managed to put down those little holes that stop the thing that goes BOOOOOOMMMM from wandering off.

Well if I am down at this site again I will have another look. Was a bit hard with the visitors that kept popping in.

Ps Yes we did the step part as well.

02-Mar-03

We found it on Monday the 03 March 2003 11.50am, we took the FIRST FINDER CERTIFICATE. We left a $10.00 note and we hope that the next geo-cacher who finds the cache will donate it to charity. Good incentive to go and find it. The co/ords were spot on but was worried about them joe blake things that bite.

Les & Jan

We found the first 3 plates and must have entered the wrong nunbers for the next one, we would have ended in a place that you wouldn't believe. So we called it a day and will pick it up from point 3 at a later date. Nice concept. The people that live nearby must have thought that we were a bit strange wandering up and down their streets looking at a little black box, and muttering strange words.

Les & Jan

Les & Jan will be there to try our luck as newbee's

25-Feb-03
Found it 25/02/03 12.30pm, co-ords were spot on. I sat down under some shade to write in the logbook and for the first time since childhood a bull ant got me. Boy did it sting, dam ants….. We took nothing/left nothing just enjoyed the find. Although I thought of the party popper to celebrate the find.
