10-Feb-13
Did the bungy! Did the cache! So excited I forgot a writing stick. Here's a pic as evidence. Favourite FOR SURE!!

Gotta thank you for showing me where the 1st hole is because later in the day we did just what you said and played a round of disc golf. It was a fun game and the surrounding really couldn't be better. What a beautiful place to play!!!! I've uploaded a few pics. Oh, yeah, thanks for the cache too. It is in great condition. #3551

We had a really enjoyable time in Queenstown Gardens - we were amazed at all that was here. The disc golf scores really varied but the four of us had a great outing. This cache and the monuments here provided a little diversion. Thanks for setting this cache up. #3452

The cache and the TB that was inside were an unexpected double bonus when we decided to pull off the highway for the view. This is a beautiful location, but I can see how it would have given travellers fits years ago. The highway was a fun drive heading northwards. TFTC in a great spot! #3449

On our drive from Te Anau to Queenstown we stopped to give this a try because I had noticed all the favourite scores. Unfortunately we couldn't come up with it. Maybe we didn't fan out far enough as I notice others have?

My daughters were getting their hair braided at the crafters market that is right in this area so while that was going on I made my way to the monument. The plaque was behind one of the vendors but he didn't mind. In fact, he elaborated on the lesson for me. Fantastic spot without which I wouldn't have imagined that an inland lake like this would flood so severely. TFTEC!!! #3450

After striking out at "School's Out" we needed a smiley and this cache delivered. Thank you for that and thank you for helping me notice the sculpture. Inside the store, the clerk gave me a poem that was written about the sheep farmers of the area that have their name on the bales. Very fun! #3448

Today was a quiet day as we wind down our great NZ holiday. But that didn't mean we didn't cover a lot of ground. It was a slow walk 4+ hour walk in jandles but we knocked off a bunch of Te Anau caches. This was the third and last. Thank you for the large enough cache to place Leo the Loughborough Lion TB, which is the TB of one of my daughter's school. As you can see from the pic, she had mixed feelings about letting him go. May he travel far and wide!!! Thank you for bringing us to this great set of trails. #3447

Today was a quiet day as we wind down our great NZ holiday. But that didn't mean we didn't cover a lot of ground. It was a slow walk 4+ hour walk in jandles but we knocked off a bunch of Te Anau caches. This was the first and allowed us to cover a great stretch of waterfront. I love how almost all town's still have the waterfront available to the public which is not so much the case in Canada. The two waypoints are in very good condition and so is the final. We left a travel bug that we brought to Canada. A great cache - thank you!! #3445

Today was a quiet day as we wind down our great NZ holiday. But that didn't mean we didn't cover a lot of ground. It was a slow walk 4+ hour walk in jandles but we knocked off a bunch of Te Anau caches. This was the second and allowed us to see a great stretch of waterfront. I love how almost all town's still have the waterfront available to the public which is not so much the case in Canada. We took the Piranha TB and left a geocoin that originated in Denmark that we brought to Canada. A great cache - thank you!! #3446

There is no lid on the cache.

A couple of the Trail Blaisers would disagree with your 3 terrain rating!! Nevertheless, it was a great accomplishment to reach Key Summit and there was a lot of pride on the walk back for getting there. What a wonderful trek - just the kind of caching experience that I love - a great journey and pretty much guaranteed find! Perfect! We rewarded the cache by dropping a TB. TFTC! #3444

We stopped here while on our way to Milford. The morning sun was beaming perfectly onto the mountains and the mirror performed superbly. Thank you for the fun and reinforcing the oxbow education that a few of our party have had in the past. This is a favourite for sure!! #3443

We were almost at our destination for the day, Te Anau, but couldn't resist another cache. We stopped for this earthcache but while here noticed that the traditional icon was hiding under the globe - so we picked up both. As noted by previous geocachers, the information sign has gone missing. I've emailed some answers to the CO and will post a couple of pics when I get better internet access. TFT interesting EC! #3442

We were on our way from Otago Peninsula to Te Anau and since one of the younger Trail Blaisers had to go wee, we opted to stop in Clinton. I noticed this cache on the radar and we made a little longer stop. A pleasant surprise was finding the TB in the cache. Also enjoyed the "Presidential Highway, Clinton - Gore" sign!! TFTC! #3440

We were almost at our destination for the day, Te Anau, but couldn't resist another cache. We actually stopped for the earthcache but while here noticed that the traditional icon was hiding under the globe. A nice quick find. The youngest Trail Blaiser took a flower and left a snake (not a real one). TFTC! #3441

We spent three nights at a small house less than a km from here so on our way towards Fiordland I just had to pick up this cache. We also love the way these trees bend and can personally attest to the fierce winds that buffet this ridge. One night we could hardly sleep as the house creaked and groaned under the assault. Wonderful name for the cache too. Thanks for the memory - will mark it as a favourite. #3439

After having a great time at the albatross centre, we took the shoreline road back to Dunedin and picked up a couple of caches. You did bring us to a fine location although we found it a bit strange to have to hop the fence (thanks to the other logs for the hint). Anyways, glorious location which deserved a TB drop which we've brought from Canada. TFTC! #3436

After having a great time at the albatross centre and Allans Beach looking at the sea lions, we took the shoreline road back to Dunedin and picked up a couple of caches. We approached from the east and could easily see how your description applies here. We left a travel bug. TFTC! #3438

After having a great time at the albatross centre, we took the shoreline road back to Dunedin and picked up a couple of caches. But not before hitting Allans Beach in hopes of seeing some sea lions (and we did - many!). On the way there we took your suggested sideroad and greatly enjoyed the story and the site. The cache took awhile to find but we were glad to be successful - partially because one of my teammates read a previous log. Thanks for the cache and the experience - I'll see if I can make the remains into a waymark. TFTC! #3437

We spent a rainy day strolling around beautiful Dunedin and enjoying some of its fine institutions, including the Otago Museum. After lunch I went solo for a mini waymarking/caching tour. I found this cache along the way. Unfortunately the lid is missing. #3435

I'm a bit embarrased to log a DNF since someone found it a couple of days after we looked. We did have an amazing time at the albatross centre though.

This seemed straight forward enough, especially with the hint, but unfortunately, I just couldn't find this one.

On our way to Dunedin, we spent the night in Cheviot at a decent little motel just down the road. I woke up before the other Trail Blaisers and decided to explore while hitting up some caches. This is a very nice place to explore - one that I wouldn't have found without caching. The cattle in the neighbouring field really took interest in me. TFTC! #3431

This is a very nice place to explore - one that I wouldn't have found without caching. I'll mark this one as a favourite because while I was tempted to drive almost the entire way in, I picked up the pack and walked the short distance. Again, nice to be amongst the sheep, which is a rarity in Canada. It took me a while to find the cache. Once I read the hint it became very evident. I picked up a travel bug here and will take it with me. #3433

I'm a bit embarrased to log a DNF now that I see someone who came a couple of days after me had found it. I searched for quite a few minutes and used the hint - which verified I was looking in the right spot. Not sure how I missed it but I did.

Despite that I enjoyed the surroundings and actually spent a while here. I think I'll add some of the photos as waymarks.

On our way to Dunedin, we spent the night in Cheviot at a decent little motel just down the road. I woke up before the other Trail Blaisers and decided to explore while hitting up some caches. This one took me a couple of minutes because the cache blended in so well in the not-so-bright early morning sun. We began to notice many of these well groomed hedgerows through our journey on the South Island. We don't have them in Canada. TFTC! #3430

We were initially attracted to this spot because of the nearby waymark. It took us a while to find the cache but the littlest Trail Blaiser was eager and finally uncovered it. From this view we could see the great playground on the harbourfront and since we had been in the car awhile we thought it would be a great way to stretch the legs. And it is a great playground. And it is a great historic downtown! Wow! We never expected what we saw. Beautiful town that we will try and explore the next time we are in NZ!!! TFTC! #3434

This is a very nice place to explore - one that I wouldn't have found without caching. I loved roaming amongst the sheep here - the farms in Canada are much more closed off - this type of interaction isn't found very much. TFTC! #3431

Actually, I did need to fill in a square today. February 2nd has been eluding me for years and I'm trying to get a find on each day of the calendar. Today we were en route from Wanganui to the Interislander and had enough time to grab some lunch, fill up with petrol, giggle at the Wellington 7s dress up costumes (wish I was going, though!) and pick up this cache. Glad it was a quickie. One of the junior Trail Blaisers found it. Nice city at a glance, but we had no time to explore - hopefully another time! TFTC. #3429

After an amazing jetboat tour and visiting The Bridge to Nowhere I cut out for a washroom break a picked up this cache along the way. Thanks for the detailed hint because my coords were quite a distance off. The cache is in great shape.

I'm aiming to fill in a find on every day of the calendar and Feb 1 has been a thorn in my side because of a conference that always happens on that day. Glad to be on vacation so that work didn't get in the way. TFTC! #3427

We were returning from an amazing jetboat tour and visiting The Bridge to Nowhere. Our advance party stopped here to take in the view and I looked at my GPSr. To my excitement there was a cache 12 metres away! Thanks for placing it here. What an incredible viewpoint. Will post pics when I get a better internet connection. #3428

I've been having a heck of a time with muggles during the last few days - everytime I pull up to find a cache there is seemingly someone who's not supposed to be there, there! So even though this was a busy spot on this beautiful afternoon, I could search in relative anonymity. Thanks for putting a cache here. After finding it i sat and enjoyed the sculpture (of which there are many along the waterfront) and watched the activity on the river, which included the rowers. Here's a pic of the men's eight doing their thing. #3425

I've been having a heck of a time with muggles during the last few days - everytime I pull up to find a cache there is seemingly someone who's not supposed to be there, there! This one was no different as there was a van parked for sale between the two trees. I thought that would provide cover but all it did was attract a family who was keenly interested in the vehicle. They spent many minutes scoping it out. Finally they left and I could switch trees. It didn't take long to find the cache after that. All is good. Thanks for the cache. #3426

While on holidays this is a type of cache that the family enjoys doing - according to the female members of my party this is a much better alternative than tramping in the bush with flip flops (or jandles as we hear them called in NZ). With that in mind, we REALLY enjoyed our visit to Huka Falls - a favourite for sure! Thank you for taking the time to set this up. #3424

After having a great time with a boat charter across Lake Tarawera to Hot Water Beach and the springs, we conquered this earthcache. We had learned something of Mount Tarawera from our expert guide and also from the Rotorua Museum earlier in the day. This cache locked it all home for us. A great setup. Thanks for taking the time to make the cache available. #3421

A virtual dip of some TBs and GCs that are travelling with me.

A beautiful place for a cache - and a much larger container than I imagined. Well hidden! I spent an hour this morning before everyone else was awake to pick up a cache or two and do some waymarking in this fine park. Thanks! #3423

We had a really great day in Rotorua. Started at the Museum, then on to Lake Tarawera and then a stroll through the redwood forest. This was the next stop. I'm glad it was after hours because it took us a while to uncover this cache. Very well camoed! The youngsters, including guest Hannah, did some trading. We left some Canadian coins behind. Thanks for this - the first physical cache in your nice town. #3422

Before the rest of the Trail Blaisers awoke to this glorious day, I went for a walk from our nearby hotel to the port area. Lots of runners and cyclists out stretching their legs. Thanks for putting out this cache and adding to my enjoyment of Auckland and New Zealand. #3418

Thanks for putting out this cache and adding to my enjoyment of Auckland and New Zealand. I read many of the information boards along the way -- interesting history and current info too. #3419

Before the rest of the Trail Blaisers awoke to this glorious day, I went for a walk from our nearby hotel to the port area. Lots of runners and cyclists out stretching their legs. This was the third and final cache, but I did do some waymarking in the neighbouring park. Thanks for putting out this cache and adding to my enjoyment of Auckland and New Zealand. #3420

Second cache of this beautiful morning. A first hand lesson on what a punga tree looks like - thanks! We've greatly enjoyed our time in Paihia. Thank you for adding to the fun with this cache. Here's a photo of a well-decorated gravesite of someone who recently passed. #3417

After a few days in the country I'm pleased to say that I was finally able to download my pocket query and go out and get a couple of caches this morning. This one is the first in New Zealand and the SE hemisphere, which completes all four quadrants for us.

Ironically, I was at this church yesterday as I strolled around without the GPSr. My geosenses should have told me there was a stash somewhere here! The container and logbook are in great condition. I grabbed the TB to move along. TFTC! #3416

Our first cache of 2012 and we couldn't imagine a better place to enjoy it. We had a great day at Magic Kingdom. Thanks for keeping this virtual alive for so long. 2764
