Brisbane Day 2: On The Other Side of the RiverTodays schedule was jammed packed with things to do, and of particular interest were the caches in South Brisbane, and U of QLD at Saint Lucia (which I learnt was pronounced as Lu-chee-ia and not Lu-see-ia) on the ferry. It was also river cruise day, making maximum use of the 50 cent fare trial period, and hopping on and off at all the various stops on the Central Brisbane area. Ended off the day at Kangaroo Point, and crossed the Story Bridge back into the CBF to end the day. Walked 37.5k steps today over 26.5 km, making for a very crazy day of geocaching. Thanks for all the caches across Brisbane - they all made my day in some way or another. This is the specific log for this cache: Solved the AL in good time but was slightly peeved to see that I had to backtrack a bit to get to the bonus. Well at least it isnt in searing heat (like I would have had to contend with back home). Also, there was a rugby match nearby to distract me, but sad to see that the home team was trailing by quite a bit. At least they scored a try while I was there - perhaps I brought them a bit of good luck. The cache was found in fairly short order at GZ, though it was at the last position I looked. Ah, such is my luck sometimes. TFTC!

Thanks for all the caches across Brisbane - they all made my day in some way or another. This is the specific log for this cache: Solved most of the WPs for this one yesterday, and managed to suss of the coordinates for the cache by a little guesswork. Came by today to complete the AL and the claim the prize at the end. For some reason, I missed the cache on the first sweep and resorted to more and more outlandish ideas before testing out my initial theory one more time and ultimately found the cache. I swear I must have looked insane clambering on the ground around the host all in good fun though, so TFTC!

Thanks for all the caches across Brisbane - they all made my day in some way or another. This is the specific log for this cache: First cache here in Saint Lucia, right after hopping off the ferry. Rather brightly coloured cache that was spotted after a brief frisk of the host. All is good with the contents of the cache here, so glad to have managed to pick up a Letterbox on this trip. TFTLC!
Brisbane Day 3: The Final CacheI had found all of the WPs on my first day here, but it was a tad out of the way, so I left it to the last day to pick this one up. It was all quiet in the GZ so early in the morning, save a sweeper nearby. The find was a really quick one in a now familiar location, and it was off to Central Station to catch the train to the airport. Thanks for the nice tour of the artwork of the city - I always find public art particularly charming, more so if it is relevant to the citys culture or history. This is my last physical cache in Brisbane on this trip, and it has been a blast so, thanks for all the caches COs!

This is the specific log for this cache: Final physical cache of the day, and this one was found in the cover of darkness. I was well informed about where not to look, but even then, I made a few wrong guesses before taking the dive and extracting the cleverly placed cache. Nice work here, and so TFTC

Thanks for all the caches across Brisbane - they all made my day in some way or another. This is the specific log for this cache: Popped by here after completing the AL on the way to catch the ferry to Saint Lucia. The coordinates had me on the wrong side of the road, where I stupidly poked at a similar structure before noticing a key part of the hint that I had taken for granted, and changed tack. Very quick find once I was looking in the right place. All good here, thanks for the nice tour of South Brisbane and the cache!

This is the specific log for this cache: First cache of the day, having completed enough WPs of the AL yesterday to take a stab at the final coordinates. Was pleased to see that this was on the way to the train station for me this morning, so made a small detour to grab it. The hidey hole was particularly obvious for me this morning, making this a very quick first find of the day. TFTC!

Thanks for all the caches across Brisbane - they all made my day in some way or another. This is the specific log for this cache: It took a little while for the River Hopper to carry me across the river from New Farm to materialise and I was glad for the opportunity to catch my breathe and rest my weary feet. Crossed over and found this nice little lookout, where I had yet more opportunity to rest my feet and poke around. The initial instinct was wrong, of course, but looking at the logs gave me an idea that materialised into my geosense activating and the cache getting found. Very clever hide here, and thanks for the cache!

This is the specific log for this cache: Solved this one back home from online information, so it remained for me to hop on over here (pun intended) and make the fine. My instincts were spot on here and the cache was found in very good condition. Thanks for this puzzle and for the cache!

Thanks for all the caches across Brisbane - they all made my day in some way or another. This is the specific log for this cache: Tricky little hide here given the nature of the area, which is really quite messy. But, the previous logs have away what I needed to focus on, and after quite a bit of pacing up and down, and finally see what I am looking for, and indeed, I could log myself in here. Another one of these Mary McKillops done she really goes places, doesnt she? TFTC!

This is the specific log for this cache: Picked this one up on the way back to the ferry from my very short tour around the campus. I poked in some wrong hosts initially before widening the search radius, and coming up with the goods. The puzzle itself was a nice little diversion from the usual banality of work, but I know I will never have need for some of the knowledge gained here.An well, I still work with a lot of numbers, and I am a certified nerd - so I am not complaining. TFTC and puzzle!

This is the specific log for this cache: First find on the South Bank, and this one took a bit longer than I expected because well, there were quite a few other spots I was absolutely convinced the cache would be in. However, once a tighter reading of the hint was made, it was imminently obvious where the cache was and there it is! TFTC!

This is the specific log for this cache: As light was fading quickly, this one was going to be a challenge, especially since I had to briefly enter and scour the bush for a cache. The coordinates led me to look in the wrong area initially, and after many futile minutes, I spotted what had to be the correct place, and indeed it was there! Nice little camouflage which highlights an interesting piece of history, so TFTC!

This is the specific log for this cache: Final cache of the day, and it was quite the wall from Kangaroo Point, given my already quite tired state. But, it was all worth it in the end for the pretty night view of the city. Thanks for the motivation to make the walk here, and you will find my photo attached!

This is the specific log for this cache:I usually eschew the tourist-y thing when I visit cities for the geocaches, which usually do bring me to the cooler spots in town. But, if the two coincide, all the better then! So, popped by here on the way up and down the South Bank and did the necessary photo taking and hunting for the info. Thanks for showing me this scenic spot and for the VC!

This one was pretty easily dispatched while hunting for lunch nearby - ended up settling on Subway since there were not too many options. Ah well at least this large-ish cache made up for it. TFTC!

I thought this was sandstone, but thanks for informing me that this is ignimbrite and tuff. Looks can be deceiving indeed. I really love what the Council has done with the place as well, it was a great evening amble indeed. TFTEC!
Brisbane Day 1: Since I have a long weekend back home, I suppose it would be nice to spend it somewhere where the weather isnt actively trying to turn you into a puddle - and spend a couple of days on a geocaching spree. So, the plan was made for a solo trip down to Brisbane for just that. The flight arrived nice and early today, and a short train trip to the city later, the day began in earnest. After a few caches as a warm-up, I dropped the luggage off at the hotel, and headed out for a second round - which included the clock tower tour. Once I could check, I had a short break to sleep off the jet lag, and I headed out to Fortitude Valley for dinner. It has been a very productive day indeed so thanks for all the caches in the city! This is the specific log for this cache:First cache picked up on the way to dinner. The coordinates were resolved very quickly to reveal a very close GZ which I headed over to poke around at. The geosenses were spot on here and the cache was found in no time. Nice construction here, I must say. TFTC!

The South Bank Parklands are really quite cool and very popular during the weekends. Shame I didnt have too much time to stop and smell the roses or the other herbs, but I know where to bring the partner the next time I am in town. TFTVC!

That being said, I did work out my fair share of the puzzle too, so I am not mooching off anyones work here. This cache was found after a short and quick sandwich breakfast nearby and a little bit of feeling around. All good here with the little guy, TFTC!

Unlike the Libraries in a couple of other Australian cities, this one doesnt quite boast the architectural grandeur, but it makes up for with its rather more compact and welcoming charm. Had a rather nice learning experience in the Indigenous exhibition area, and popped up to get the last bit of info - must have been weird to see someone just visit the library to see a few objects in a glass case. Thanks for the VC here!

All that was left to do was the get this one, and the find here was fairly fast, albeit a hide I really didnt expect to see here, much less yield a dry logsheet. These things have a bit of a reputation back home, but this was the only one of the type I found today, so I am not complaining. TFT nice puzzle and walk in the park!

Nice little bit of heritage highlighted here, though a plaque explaining the significance may have been nice. But, these things are pretty common nautical adornments in maritime areas like this one, so it is where it ought to be. Thanks for highlighting this and the cache!

With some pre-research, the work here was resolved very quickly and so was the cache find, as I noticed the odd colouration of the cap amongst the general area. Ended off the day at Kangaroo Point, and crossed the Story Bridge back into the CBF to end the day. Walked 37.5k steps today over 26.5 km, making for a very crazy day of geocaching. Thanks for all the caches across Brisbane - they all made my day in some way or another. This is the specific log for this cache:This was the highlight of the journey down to UQ, and I really hoped that I might be the one to catch the tenth drop. No such luck obviously, but I really did enjoy the architecture of the Parnell Building and the Great Court. The reliefs were a very nice touch and as a Physics major and now educator, it was really very funny to see the chosen representations. Thanks for this VC here!

However, the geosense saved the day here, and found the cache in the one spot it was most likely at, despite the lack of the promised sign (or maybe I was blind). All good here, so TFTC!

I had a lot of fun tracking down the little doors, though quite a bit of planning and a little serendipity was needed to make this sequential AL work for me in my very limited time in Brisbane. The cache was a little bit of a slog, only because there was a greeter at the buildings entrance and I didnt want to look weird. The hint finally clicked amidst my antsy loitering, and the find was made soon after. Thanks for the AL and the find here!

Indeed there was, but a family decided to occupy the table nearby just as I got there, so I had to reach the cache from a more awkward angle. Got there eventually and signed the new log? Seems like the last finder had to put in a temp logsheet as the original has gone missing. Thanks for this scenic hide!

This is the specific log for this cache:Next find of the day, and thankfully, the other photos helped immensely in getting to the right level to find the cache. All good when the correct spot was located, though the top had fallen off the container when I found it. Fortunately, it was nearby and the two halves were reunited. TFTC!

Watched a parade of visitors informed that the next booking is hours ahead, and felt some pity of the receptionist who has to answer the same question again and again. It was a very nice ride up with our guide Sunny, who was really happy to share all sort of fun facts about the place. Thanks for putting this VC together, the tower is really quite popular these days! Attached is my photo at the top of the tower.

Quick enough analyses to be done here, especially for the geologically inclined. Thanks for highlighting this here and for the EC!

This is the specific log for this cache:Popped into the Gardens in my walk around the CBD and has a look at the very impressive height of the floodwaters here in Brisbane. The flood levels are really epic, and it seems like I have never seen floods this high because of the lack of a hinterland and a large drainage basin to provide the volumes of water for the deluge. I learnt quite a lot about hydrology with this cache, so thanks for that and the EC!

I imaging this hunt is a lot more awkward at certain times. I didnt find the cache where I expected it to be, so I suspect it fell off, and a kind muggle just placed it at a convenient spot. I put it back where I felt it should be. TFTC!

Finally, found the spot that lined up with the hint and made a very quick find after that. Getting the logsheet out was as tricky as always, but I managed in the end. TFTC!

This was found as the morning crowd was starting to build up, but I figured out what I needed to do here in short measure, and was fortunate to be just tall enough to reach over to grab it without looking like I have gone mad. It took two hands though to fish it out though after the single handed attempt failed. But all is well in the end, TFTC!
