Logs for goannie

Looked last night in the cold and dark but couldn't see it. Searched today with Rob SC and there it was. We met the Palyo100 crew there.
Everything was soaking wet. Dried all contents by the car heater and added a couple of log sheets.

Me and Lesley flocked to the rock in our frocks and socks to take stock of the spot at one o'clock. ... No crocs in smocks, no jocks with pocks. ... Les and I did grok that rock.
(Go Dr Seuss!)
PS log very wet. Didn't try to sign.

I finally found this one late on a starlit night after some serious guidance from a star. Was it the Star of Bethlehem, you ask?
Well, the Gospel of Matthew states that the Magi arrived at the court of Herod in Jerusalem and told the king of a star which signified the birth of the King of the Jews. Now, Magi is usually translated as "wise men" but in this context it probably meant "astronomer" or "astrologer". So it was a Magi who did the guiding after all. Praise the Magi!
PS keep your eyes peeled for the massive inch ants. Get on your bike and ride like hell if they head in your direction.

There is no such thing as an EVIL public servant, Private Freddo!
Let me reassure you about this - the guys who are on their way to your place are definitely NOT faceless men. Their faces are still pretty much intact. And striking! There's something about those close-set eyes, jagged scars and crooked noses that I am sure you will not forget.

This very noble and dedicated public servant noticed the log book was full and has added a couple of pages from her tiny budget-savings government notebook to keep the cache going until Private Freddo is discharged.

Thanks for the lovely song, Team Wibble.
Note to self re Vagaries of Phone Reception ... next time I go to the hills I am going to save the caches to my phone BEFORE I go!

My first astro cache!
I was so focussed on the bees that It took 24 hours for the penny to drop. The screwdriver in the bottle. Duh!

I found that the cowboy was made of paper. I was almost tempted to make a tearible joke about him being arrested for rustling.
Just near the shack i have used at Balgowan for some years. Lovely quiet place. After the long trot to get there i sat down just like Cuddles.
Ah, Freddo, i thought you were joking about the national public toilet map and it being the font of all wisdom. Now i can see you were deadly serious. My dream has come true - i can now browse toilets right around Australia!
I note that the icon on the web site for My Toilets is uncanny in its similarity to Astro's geocaching profile image. Given the map is the font of all wisdom, what is the icon telling me about Astro?

'When the wind blows from the north-west, you may see his spirit skimming across the waves.'
How beautifully expressed! It brought a tear to my eye. Thanks for bringing me to this lovely memorial.

It doesn't get much better than this. All the earthly pleasures; a cool autumnal morning after a long hot summer; the fresh scent of rain-washed eucalypts; the blazing red-gold glory of the allocasuarinas in their prime; the sun peeking out between white clouds racing across a wide blue sky, a cache hidden at the scenic peak of the prettiest up-hill trail near Adelaide. Aaaaaah, blissssss! One happy elf.
... Okay, okay. I agree. Not quite ALL the earthly pleasures!

Was hoping for my first sighting of a real werewolf, but not even a wild dog there at the glen yesterday. TFTC Marmela. Please do keep hiding them at the Waite Conservation Park - it's my favourite walking spot.

This one needs some attention. Seems to have been lying in a swamp. See my log.

DNF. GPS was jumping all over the place. The only thing electrifying about this experience was my near death experience with a moving tram! Stay away from the light!
Me and my new geocaching convert Jollyrogie found this one late last night. I can't believe how monstrously addictive this game is getting!
I was in high heels and party dress. We had just seen a show. JollyRogie said "Shall we wait in the queue to get into Barrio (the uber-cool totally fun festival bar that absolutely everyone is dying to get into) or go geocaching instead?'
I said, 'Let's go geocaching!' I SWEAR I was not on drugs.
North Terrace was rockin at midnight. While checking out gz we are first accosted by a curious hobo who told us he knew that we were up to 'nefarious purposes'.
Then, you won't believe this. We were accosted by a group of lawyers - yes lawyers - who had come to pay their deep, sincere and very lawful respects to a very legal lady. Isn't there a law against being so dedicated?
The scroll is damp and mushy and impossible to get out of the container. We tried with a number of devious implements but it just came out as papier mache.
I cannot believe that it has come to this. Yes, I am carrying pliers in my evening bag.

A great spot for spiders, beetles and mozzies. Us goannas eat em for supper. My first night time cache! Thks.
Yay, my drought on finds has finally ended! It helped that this gz has now been cleaned up and no longer resembles a sewage pit. Thanks to Rogie-Poo and Dr Dre Jnr for moral support. TFTC.
Finally found this little treasure with the help of a treasure of a different kind. I bobbed down to the pavement to write in the log. He loaned me his pen. I wonder what I would have done if he had dropped it?

Quite an adventure getting to this one right now. This GZ is right in the middle of a large fenced-off building site. This mild-mannered-law-abiding public servant had to stalk the site perimeter looking for a sneaky entrance through a gap in the fence and past the very large 'Danger - Do NOT Enter' signs.
But most of the adventure was to be had on the nearby oval on the way back. I could not believe my eyes! There was a woman dressed in black briefs and a black bra. She was standing up and struggling hard to lean forward. Golly, she was tethered to the oval ground by a rope connected to the back of her bra!
If Eye-Key-Ah was 'urban chic', was this 'suburban kink'? In public? In Myrtle Bank? Corgi country? Tweed territory?
ONLY in the interests of neighbourhood watch, I wandered over for a closer look. The underwear-clad woman with a terrible figure turned out to be a very sweaty man with black shorts and a black chest harness, dragging a weight across the oval! Go figure.

Wow, the stars, asteroids and meteorites are definitely not aligned this weekend! This GZ has been spoiled by some unsavoury rubbish probably left in the last few very hot nights. Not the right time to fossick amongst rocks without rubber gloves. I have reported it to Holdfast Bay council by email with a request to clean up the area.
BUT, I did have a wonderful long swim in the gloriously clear water, through many schools of rather delicious-looking, fat, silver-whiting. Oh for a fishing rod! I did indulge in a fantasy of catching them in my bare hands and taking them home for lunch but figured I might come out the worst in the battle, and end up driving home in the heat with nothing better than a case of stinky fish poop all over my rashie!

Couldn't even look for it. So any muggles. You'd think that this was some kind of place where the muggles had been expressly invited! Surflifesavers carrying kayaks, people in wheelchairs, old ladies pushing walkers about, people backing trailers, Saturday morning breakfast munchers and every Adelaide dog dragging his pet around. No place for a goanna!

It was hard to find this one unobserved on a weekday lunchbreak. I thought I had managed to keep it undercover, but when I had finished, I turned to see a woman watching me intently. Gulp!
If it was Lois Lane, then I have to say that she has really let herself go badly. Clark would turn in his grave if he saw what had become of her. Chain smoking, drinking, out of shape, SHOCKING hair-do! What a downfall.
Possibly Freddo's influence?

Found this one in the company of Astroboy on the same day that the Pope resigned. Maybe the heavens were in some kind of alignment?
Freddo, you are a ba-a-a-a-ad frog. Fancy using THAT filmic reference for this cache! You had best watch out for lightning bolts.

Hi Turner Gang, thanks for your cache. My very first cache as a newbie to geocaching! And just around the corner from me, too.
Thanks Stephie for your cache. Hard to find and needed a bit of adventurous activity on my part!
