Unfortunately, our holiday in Australia is coming to its end, this is our last day before heading back to Europe. Still quite a crazy day anyway! We left this morning by plane from Melbourne, landed in Sydney and now we have to wait several hours before catching our next two flights. Instead of rotting all day long in the airport, we decided to take a short day trip to Manly.

Even though crowded places are not really our thing, we still enjoyed a short walk along the coast, and had the opportunity to look for this cache. It was not obvious at all, it took some serious bush walking, and you never know what you find hidden in the bushes at these latitudes! Anyway, we managed to get through, and at the end the container was easily located in its hiding place. Thanks a lot for this hide! This is our last cache in Australia (for the time being Very Happy).

During our two-week holiday in Australia, we spent the Christmas days in Melbourne while visiting the family of a very good friend of ours. Unfortunately there were not so many occasions to go out geocaching, in spite of the ginormous amount of caches hidden in the area.

Today, we came to Portarlington to visit my friend's grandfather, and after a visit I had the opportunity to go and look for this cache while my muggle friends were taking a swim. Fortunately, given the high temperature of the day, the search went very quickly, and I found the very small container exactly where I expected it to be. Thanks a lot for this hide!

Unfortunately there were not so many occasions to go out geocaching, in spite of the ginormous amount of caches hidden in the area, but I managed anyway to go out one morning to get this one. It was early morning, so just a few muggle runners were passing by - that helped a bit to locate the quite obvious but still sneaky hide. Thanks a lot for this cache!

During our two-week holiday in Australia, we had a nice road trip driving from Sydney to Melbourne. These three days were super cool, as we had the opportunity to experience a little bit of the world-famous Australian "outback", and made encounters with many animals of different kinds, including a face-to-face encounter with a hungry kangaroo Smile On the road, there was not so much time to stop for geocaches unfortunately, given the long hours we had to drive, but in any case we managed to find a few.

This was one of them. We spent the night on Phillip Island in the hotel just in front, and in the morning, just before leaving, we went for a short walk along the sea shore. It was rather easy to find this cache, hidden in a quite obvious place - we just had to wait for a few muggles stationing in the spot to leave. Thanks a lot for this hide!

This was one of them. We stopped in Orbost just for a couple of hours to have lunch and have a rest in the park, although everything was made much more difficult by the infinite number of flies.. How do people stand that here?? It drives you insane! Anyway, after lunch I went on a short walk to look for this cache. It was not super easy at first to find the correct way to the cache, but it worked at the end. The actual container was then found very quickly. Thanks a lot for this hide!

During our two-week long holiday in Australia, we spent a bit less than one week in Sydney to visit this beautiful city. Obviously, a visit to the world-famous Opera House is a must. We did not visit it inside, but we spent some time walking around it and learning about the history of its construction. So, checking out this Earthcache was part of the learning process Smile We took the necessary information to answer to the questions, and then did our studying at home to complete the rest. We learned a lot about clay today - thanks a lot to 2qt2bstr818 for this very interesting lesson! Answers have been sent, and here is a picture of one of us while approaching the tiles Smile

Today, the plan for our Australian trip is to visit the Blue Mountains and do a short hike from Katoomba to Leura, walking along the rim of the canyon. It's nice to have so many caches on the trail, hiking-geocaching is one of my favorites! The weather was nice but not too hot, and not so many muggles were around, besides the very touristy Echo Point, so we had a very enjoyable (and tiring) day, where my muggle partner could enjoy the walk while I could make 5 finds.

Looking for the cache here wasn't easy at all, due to the high presence of muggles. However, I managed to take advantage of a calm moment to look more carefully and find, in a few seconds, the small container where I thought it would be. Great start for my hiking-geocaching day.

Thanks a lot for the hide, and greetings from Italy!

We make another stop along the trail to look for this cache. It required a little bit of jungle-crossing, since we came from below, but it was after all an easy find.

Thanks a lot for the hide, and greetings from Italy!

Cache #1800!!

Along the trail, I took a short detour to go and get this cache, which was found after little searching, once the correct big tree was identified.

Thanks a lot for the hide, and greetings from Italy!

At the end of our hike, we take advantage of the nice lawn to have some rest, but we cannot avoid looking for this container, as the last find of the day. After a little while with our heads up, we finally located it.. We were just looking too high! The climb was definitely an easy one, so no problems collecting and signing the logbook.

Thanks a lot for the hide, and greetings from Italy!

Another geocaching stop here, a very quick one though because the small container was found at the exact GZ spot.

During my two-weeks trip around Australia, we spent a few days in Sydney and of course we could not miss this world-famous beach. We had a great time swimming, sun-bathing, getting a sun burn (ouch!) and also looking for some caches walking from Bondi to Coogee. Before starting our walk, we spent some time on the beach and solved this Earthcache. It's super cool to look at the sand from up close and discover so many colors! Thanks a lot for the educational cache Smile

Our Australian holiday continues today in Sydney on the beaches. We decided first to take a swim in Bondi, and then follow the walking trail to Coogee. The weather is very hot today, so we cannot stay too long looking for caches, that is why we selected just few of them along the way. And even if we wore tons of sun screen, we got some patchy sunburn.. Probably we are still not used to these latitudes.

Second physical cache of the day. I left my muggle partner to relax at Coogee, and walked back a few hundreds meters to look for this one. Really spectacular view from up here! It was very easy to locate and find the container, with little amount of muggles in the area.

Thanks a lot for this hide, and greetings from Italy!

Third and last physical cache of the day.. while the muggle partner is taking a swim, I keep walking along the road to go for this one. Even though it's plenty of muggles everywhere, they are all too busy driving and being stuck in traffic, so I can act without attracting too much attention. The first look deceives me, but the second one makes the job. This type of camouflage is always very clever, even when you have found already many of the same kind.

Thanks a lot for this hide, and greetings from Italy!

After the Earth cache in Bondi, this was the first physical cache of the day. Once on GZ, it was easy to imagine where the cache would be hidden, but after a few minutes I found it on the ground, open, and in full sight. Someone must have forgotten to hide it back, or some muggles found it and left it there. Anyway, I closed it and put it back in the place I thought was meant to be the hiding place. Hopefully I got it right.

Thanks a lot for this hide, and greetings from Italy!

This find is a very special one for me, as it comes as the first ever find in Australia, my country #19, as well as my first cache ever in the Southern hemisphere! I had been looking forward a long for this moment, since I started planning my trip to Australia from Italy a few months ago.

In Canberra for the wedding of a dear friend of mine, today was the slack day after the wedding, so we had the opportunity to walk all over the city, visit the Parliament and other interesting sites, and do of course some geocaching. When we arrived on this small island, we noticed a queue of people waiting to access the carillon for the incoming concert, but we passed by them and went to the lovely GZ spot. While my partner was relaxing with some tai-chi practice, I looked for this cache, which ended into my hands in a very short time. The compass was pointing to a slightly different location, but it was quite easy to think about the most probably hiding site. Thanks a lot for this cache, which I will remember for a very long time!! Leaving a FP and a trackable.

After a long day spent walking all around in Canberra, we headed back to the hotel after dinner, but I did not feel like going to sleep directly. So I went out again and looked for some caches in the neighborhood. It was a very lucky night, with 4 finds in less than an hour. Canberra is a dream place for geocachers at night, it is so empty of muggles that one can look for caches in any way without having to care. It is a rare chance in many places in Europe.

Fourth and last cache of my night tour, this was a very tricky one! No difficulties in reaching GZ, but really many possible hiding places. Fortunately, no muggles are around, so I could act without being disturbed. But it took a lot of observations, and some reading of previous enlightening logs, to have the right idea and know where to put the hand. Cool hiding place, thanks for this hide!

This cache was the first of my night tour. Once found the right side of the hedge, I started looking in the only possible place, until I caught a glimpse on something not really in place.. and there was the cache! Quite a sneaky hide, but solved fortunately within minutes. Thanks a lot for this hide!

After visiting the carillon, we continued walking up to the war memorial, and even if we were too late to visit inside, we still had the opportunity to gather the answers to this Earthcache. We learned a lot about sandstone, thanks to Pinkpiggy7 for this interesting cache!!

Second cache of my night tour. This one must be a real nightmare during the day, but it went really smoothly at night. I had to wander a little bit from tree to tree, until I realized I was using the wrong approach. When I changed my mindset, I had an idea, which turned to be immediately the correct one. Very nice hide indeed, difficult to spot. Thanks a lot Tankengine for the cache and the precise coordinates!

Third cache of my night tour, a very quick (no doubts about the possible hiding place) but also very interesting one, as it shows how this place would have looked like if no city was built. Thanks a lot for the hide!
