Thanks Robnz for the update about the wharf - such a shame! I've now sadly archived Andrew's last and most loved cache.
Due to the Wharf being closed and most likely being closed for the foreseeable future, this cache has sadly now been archived. I can still picture Andrew laughing as DNF's kept popping up . I still can't understand how so many thought it would be an easy to find cache when the difficulty rating was so high! I'll also never forget the many kayak trips under the wharf to check on the cache - wasn't easy to hold his and my kayak in place while he climbed out and checked the cache lol. Mrs Waiiti20.

A fun cache found to remember our beloved dad and husband on his birthday. Andrew would've been proud of us!!

Due to the Petone Wharf being closed for repairs due to earthquake damage, I'm disabling this cache until the Wharf re-opens. Hopefully that won't be too far away! I was so pleased to see that some people have still managed to find it recently - I thought I was going to have to do another check on it so I didn't get another "needs maintenance" email lol, but it's obviously still safe and well at this stage!

Found with Ricky_Reindersnz on a beautiful sunny Sunday avo. Had to take the long way around because the footbridge was still out of use... good way to get my steps in . TFTC.

I checked on the cache this afternoon, and as suspected, it's still there patiently waiting for the next find. Don't give up - keep looking under and up!

Hmmm...as Daywalk points out...this isn't the first time someone thinks this has gone missing . I'm 99.9% certain it's still there, but just to get rid of that 0.1% uncertainty I'll check it out soon. I can still picture my husband's huge grin on his face each time another "DNF" showed up on this cache - this was definitely his favourite one! This is the only cache out of all of his many caches that I've chosen to keep for that very reason . Keep hunting!! Mrs Waiiti20

Found quickly after a quick trip up the waterfall track with the youngest Waiitian. TFTC!

I've walked up the Te Whiti Riser many times before and have picked up the other caches on the track a while back, but for some reason hadn't seen this one, so today was going to be the day - especially since it was such a beautiful day! It turns out this was a track I'd been on before - I remembered it well as I was slip sliding my way down there! My husband (Waiiti20) had found this track many years before when we had first moved to Waterloo (well before the Te Whiti Riser track came into being!). He'd seen the track in the hills and wondered how to get to it. He finally found the entrance (behind the Open Polytechnic) and from then on it was his way of getting up to the ridgeline quickly. I preferred the usual method of going up the firebreak, but at his many promptings I decided to try this track. I knew it was steep (he had warned me of it) so I decided to go down it rather than up, but ended up going down on the seat of my pants for the last part and bush whacking at the very end, so thank you DarrenKeri for taking me back down memory lane as I made my way down once again. I contemplated (very briefly) continuing down to the bottom, but the memory of a very sore bottom changed my mind thankfully! Cache found quickly as expected, andI had great fun in surprising some unsuspecting people walking the track by popping out unexpectedly. Cache # 9526 - only 474 to go! Mrs Waiiti20
