Logs for Aussiegourmet

Bit of a trick with this one. Lucky I had the ballerina with me to origami her way to the cache! Well done!

07-Feb-22
We almost gave up but one last effort yielded a result! Yes, it should have been obvious but it was starting to rain, kids, dog and partner were a bit over it all as it was our fourth cache after being up and down the hill already. Was good practice for the GPS unit as the signal was bouncing all over with the app. This one was dry and in good condition. Beautiful spot, shame about the noise (unless cars and gunshots are your thing). TFTC

06-Feb-22
Container has degraded and contents are getting wet despite ziploc bags. If next could bring a replacement container, that would be great. We did not have one today.

An easy find but mind the prickles! The GPS unit came in handy close in as the trees were interfering with the phone app quite a bit. TFTC.

The contents are very wet as the container has degraded and the plastic is friable. If the next to find can bring a container, that would be great. That was the one thing I didn’t have in my kit today.

The littlest crew member, Miss 6, was the first to find the cache and Miss 11 found the largest golden orb spider I have ever seen. Lucky she saw it before walking straight into it! We did what we could with the resources on hand to dry items and place a dry log into a ziploc bag. A good easy find on our trek to round up the ponies!

Great trek up the hill and views to the bay. Again Miss 6 was the first to find. Lots of neat swag to trade and mainly dry. TFTC

R2D2 appears to have come under attack and left for parts. Cache intact. We righted the little guy but his head needs some glue and weatherproofing. Must add glue to my list of things to take on adventures. Added some swag and replaced the ziploc bag to make sure all stays dry. I loved walking through the dry scrub. No tall grass to deal with but still very much out of muggle view. Very fun find.

A winding road through a neighbourhood I had wondered about. The houses resemble cute 90s villas. Dog wash vehicles in the shape of big blue dogs were the highlight for Miss 6. A surprising park at the end which connects to a much bigger green space wax a highlight.
We will be back for the playground - the midges were getting the better of us at 5:30 in the evening/late afternoon.

There is no room on the cache log sheet - we creatively added in a date but the next person will need much more creativity. I wish I had a tiny roll of paper with me for a replacement but perhaps when we go back for the playground we will fix it up if still in need. Mist remember tweezers. TFTC.

First try out of the new GPS device as the phone seems unreliable at times. Tiny bit worried about snakes but we did not see any on this day. Spiders and ants were much scarier. Amazing that this was placed in 2008 and still stands. The houses close by were amazing too. Great rock scrabbling for kids. TFTC.

Love this reserve. I have never entered from this end so that was a nice change. So many grass trees, it was like walking through a forest of people! Ants are fierce at the site. Cache is in good condition with good swag. Miss 6 loves the new nose pencil sharpener! TFTC

So cute and in pretty good condition for its age! We were lucky enough to see bats and a wallaby on the trek out. Not a lot of room for swag but we manage to put in. A cute item for the next visitor. Bring your own pen! TFTC

An easy find for Miss 6. We found a trackable at this site and will send it on its way tomorrow. We put the log in a zip lock bag to make sure it stays dry. Cute cache, was out in the open so we put bark over it. It looks like there will park construction shortly so access from the other side might work better. Great, new scooter course for kids nearby so bring your scooters and helmets! TFTC

30-Dec-21
A nice easy find for the kids after disappointment at Defender -Utilities. The cache was dry and we traded some neat swag. Nice park, quiet location. TFTC

Not for us today. Mozzies, grass cuts and boggy conditions made this no fun for kids and dog. Maybe in drier conditions.

10-May-21
Having a 5 year old read out the numbers was fun! Backwards, wrong letter, numbers, anything goes! A busy Mother’s Day at the sign. We got our pic and then were off for lunch.

02-Apr-21
A little daunting given the density of the bush from the closest road but once 5 m in it was just scrubby tea tree to navigate through. Navigating to the cache was fine but navigating back out to the road was a bit more challenging. Found a rusty old Ute which was interesting. Trusty geopup was on the trail and has us out in no time. Swapped a piece of swag. Definitely bring mozzie repellent! I double dipped myself; the mozzies are BIG and hungry!

Great for kids! A few poles to choose from and the first was full of water! Should have read more to look for rocks. The littlest geocacher had the cache in her hands in no time. Added a few stickers and signed the log before heading to the park for a play and some grunge music courtesy of the house next to the park. Nice breezy spot.

A bit of a tricky one for us! Tall grass, phone took us on slightly the wrong course (or maybe cache has moved?) but the littlest geocacher found it in the end. Many thanks,

Such fun finding this one. A few strange muggle looks as we searched around but they soon left. Glad I brought the tweezers this trip. First one of this type for the little geocachers.

15-Mar-21
I’ll come back at night. Too many muggles to feel comfortable stalling the bushes!

Quick find! Thank you! The dragonfly chair, view and fig trees are beautiful. Log and GZ in good condition.

Great spot, very discretely placed and still there given the level of muggle activity around! Log in good condition with several spots left to fill.

I had some time before my dentist appointment so went for a wander. It was drizzling so not many people about. Added a wee strip of paper to the GK for 1-2 logs more. Looks like some repairs might be done soon in the area so I’m glad I found it while it was still there!

Excellent concept and design! We loved it! We left a magnet for you to enjoy. We will be back to book swap!

03-Mar-21
Easy find. Put GK back in intended spot and covered as it had migrated and was quite visible. Beautiful, big resident water dragon said hi!

01-Mar-21
This was a tough one. At the end of the day with 3 kids in tow, prickly pear and spiky agave like plants surrounding the coordinates, we had to let this one go. The Platypus wrench was neat.

We did not find this one but the site had lots of evidence of muggle activity including heaps of rubbish which we carted out and a lean to of tree branches.

Great SWAG! Good for geokids.
