Logs for Jimswim

28-Oct-12
We were on our way to Arthur's Pass today and did some geocaching along the way. We grabbed our lunch and headed towards the cache. While I was looking near the Tee Pee, my wife found the cache. Took the geocoin and then hiked up the trail to a bench and ate our lunch. Nice location. 12:00 noon.

We were on our way to Arthur's Pass today and did some geocaching along the way. This was another quick grab for us. Thanks. TNLNSL at 11:35 am.

Trying to keep the Kea from stripping our rent-a-car while we searched for this was kind of amusing. I saw where the cache was probably located at one time, but it's not there.

We were on our way to Arthur's Pass today and did some geocaching along the way. The gate was closed and had a sign stating "trail closed, lambing in progress". We jumped over, didn't see any lamb's or sheep and found the cache at 10:40 am.

We were on our way to Arthur's Pass today and did some geocaching along the way. The bushes here have big thorns which help protect the cache from muggles. TNLNSL at 10:10 am.

We passed by this cache on our way to Arthur's Pass with the intent on finding it on the way back. So we went to the summit, and are now headed back to Christchurch. A quick find but the container is broken and needs to be replaced. The log book was dripping wet but someone did put a 1 page log sheet in a zip lock bag in what's left of the container. TNLNSL at 3:15 pm. Beautiful spot.

We were on our way to Arthur's Pass today and did some geocaching along the way. The visibility was only about 15-20 meters as the clouds were upon us. There were other people nearby but we couldn't see them. TNLNSL at 10:50 am. On our drive back, the view was great, and the area sure looked different now that we could see it.

While my wife was inside buying a soda, I was getting some answers to the questions. We had a great drive up here today from Christchurch and enjoyed the Kea at the summit.

We drove up from Christchurch today to do some sight seeing. Wow, what a beautiful spot. A muggles came by while I was searching and asked if I was looking for Paua. I told him yes and he said he saw 3 here earlier, but they were gone now. TNLNSL at 11:30 am.

We found this one after having a white bait fritter at the local roadside stand. Pretty Yummy. We needed the clue to find this one and took nothing and left a blue bicycle can opener at 1:05 pm.

25-Oct-12
Today is my wife's birthday and we did this cache on our way to the "Red Zone". Truly amazing how fast an earthquake can devastate such a large area. Found the cache quickly and TNLNSL at 10:15 am.

My wife and I decided to take a walk after dinner tonight and look for our 1st geocache in Christchurch. No muggles around this area which made for a quick find. TNLNSL at 7:15 pm.

I found this cache on my walk from downtown to the Parnell Baths. I needed the clue to find this one. Nice hiding spot. I took nothing and left a "Crossing the Finish" wrist band at 2:44 pm.

I found this one on my walk from downtown to the Parnell Baths. Nice job on this cache. Found at 2:35 pm.

Stopped back by here today to leave a trade item. I dropped off an official geocaching pin. While here I met a very nice couple that are from Santiago, Chile. I told them about geocaching and they are going to start doing it too.

More bikes than cars going by today as the big race this weekend has everyone out practicing. TNLNSL at 9:35 am.

While I was looking over there, the wife was looking over here and said, "I found it". We took a kiwi patch and will come back and put a trade item in later today or Saturday when I pass by here again. 9:45 am.

Between classes, this spot is very crowded. During class, not too bad. Needed the clue to help zero in on this. TNLNSL at 9:10 am.

18-Oct-12
Searched high and low inside and out and came up empty handed. I did FI.dots of colored rocks, an orange, banana, but no.cache.

17-Oct-12
My GPS was bouncing all over the place due to the tall buildings. I couldn't even find the big bird for a while. Finally did and then had to watch for muggles. Lots of those around. I grabbed the bicycle TB and will move it on soon. 10:45 am.

I braved the wind and rain this morning as I didn't want to be stuck inside. I found this without too much trouble. 10:13 am.

15-Oct-12
I was so close this morning. Came back at 11:00 and found it right away. Took the trackable item and left a US Coast Guard geocoin (not trackable, sorry). My 2nd geocache south of the equator.

I searched for about an hour this morning, but every time I got within 40 meters of it, my GPS freaked out and would not update. I came back around 10:30 am and found it right away. TNLNSL. This was my first geocache south of the equator.
