I'm happy to archive if that's appropriate. The park is still closed due to the fire damage a year ago, and they are also undergoing dam wall maintenance, and I'm sure the cache is completely gone. The park is due to open mid 2011 and I intend to re-instate the cache at that time.

Parks Victoria expect the park to remain closed until at least the end of 2009 due to the fire damage.

This cache is in the area affected by the Kinglake Fires and is currently disabled until the area is re-opened to the public and the cache checked.

The log book in the cache is almost full. I'll drop a new one in sometime over the next couple of weeks.

Fantastic, that's the first platypus spotting, so don't worry about not finding the cache!
08-Jul-07
This one took a while for the kids to uncover, but we found it eventually.
Took the little Indian dude, left the little parachute dude.
Thanks for three caches to uncover all within walking distance. A great way to spend a Sunday morning.

What a fantastic place! Weather was perfect today so the views were awesome. Found the cache without too much hassle. Apart from the climb up the staircase to get there. The walk down Eskdale was pretty damn hard too, but all very mch worth it.

Thanks!

Looked around for the cache but had to give it a miss. 2 snakes had already been spotted on the way up and i didn't fancy taking any risks turning over or feeling under stones.
Views were fantastic though!

Looked everywhere where this should have been but no luck. Perhaps the possum that has moved in (ringtail) has knocked into the difficult terrain?
Great spot for a cache, but don't know what the dead animal nearby was?????
Took spider
Left squishy ball. (It looks a bit like an urchin? As close the theme as we were carrying!)
Thanks.

Came in from the lower park. River was dry with some pools. Not flowing all the way through. I think the kids took something out, but I can't remember what now!
Dropped off Hertz the Yellow Car. He's been parked at my place way too long.

What a fantastic view. Traveling across the ridges on our way to Pinnabar, with thunderstorms rolling across the next ridge across.
Thanks for the cache. TNLNSL.

Found as the thunderstorms were getting too close for comfort. Enjoyed the view for as long as we dared then headed off towards Wheelers Creek Hut along upper Shady Creek Track. What a fantastic 4WD track, .

Picked up the Jeep.

This cave is absolutely amazing, and full of bats. One of the best places I have visited.
Took the gum, which was a little on the soft side and left an XBOX toy.

This one took us a while to find, not wanting to do any damage, and also worried about the surrounding Bursaria.
This place is totally magnificent, and will be our first of hopefully many visits.
Took glo-stick, left $1.
Thanks, Mark

Is this our first, first to find?!?!
This was the third cache we visited on our Kosciouszko camping holiday. Had been here before 20 years ago I think. Love to see it in full flow!
Great Spot, thanks.

Took us a little while to find this, but got it in the end. Was placed a little hard to reach. e were camping up at 3-Mile, which at -5 degrees last night was a little cooler than it might have been at this campsite.
TNLN, obviously!

This was our first campsite on our trip, and after driving all day we were shocked to find it closed for the winter! Lucky there is camping on the other side of the dam, which actually was nicer! Found the cache in the morning, after surviving a minus 5 degree night. All the mud puddles were frozen solid.
Great place, and paddling on the dam was great fun. No luck catching any fish though, they wouldn't stay hooked.

Out doing a reccy for an upcoming group camp out, so decided to include a few caches as well. Been in this area a number of times, but hadn't come across this dam before. Had a quick look for the cache, but satellites were elusive. Found a likely spot, but the leeches drove us back. Will come back in the hotter months to give it another go.

Well this cache is more than a year old, and I'm very pleased so many people have enjoyed this cache. But in all this time, not one person has spotted a platypus in the park! I might need to rename it to Platypodia a Paucity.
05-Jun-05
Visited the Gorge, which is absolutely beautiful and fed lots of wallabies. Enjoyed the location so much, forgot to look for the cache!
28-May-05
Gave up on this one. Long grass on steep cliffs over a rocky wave battered coast, and no good GPS lock was all a bit too much for me.
I had planned to do a number of caches on my trip to FNQ, but either drove past them on the way up before realising I'd missed the exit, was having too much fun visiting the location to spend timne hunting a cache down, or simply couldn't find them. I was getting worried as I had two bugs to drop off, so was much relieved to find this cache in a nice location without too much trouble. Dropped off Alien TB as well as setting free my own Pigi-Billa.
22-May-05
Had a look for this cache, but didn't find it easily (the GPS wouldn't give a reliable fix, and there were too many places to look). To be honest, I really wanted to spend my time exploring the beautiful gorge and side gorges! Great location which is highly recommended a vist.
12-Feb-05
Well, our third attempt and even with a clue and 1/2 an hour searching through long grass getting itchy as all bajeesas we still could not find it.
30-Jan-05
We found the two points easily enough, I've been to both previously. The actual cache location was not so easily found. The GPS was jumping all over the place, so we continued on to another cache in this area, but on our return the GPS had settled but we still could not find the cache. Perhaps our dedication was too low but where the GPS was pointing, I didn't wish to venture too far.
Well despite the bright blue clear skies, a consistent GPS lock was elusive. We pulled over and headed in amongst the ferns and fallen timber with the GPS first pointing one way and then another. Came to a likely tree stump, but the GPS still said 40 metres to go. Looked around any way, and without moving the GPS was telling us 30 metres one way then 40 the other. At one point the GPS was indicating 10 metres, all without us moving. Anyway, searched the tree stump but came up with nothing. Totally unprepared to venture further into the virgin bush so had to give up. Picked off the leeches and scratched, bloody and beaten we returned to the car. [B)]

The mozzies are surely big! This one survived the flooding, but certainly showed the evidence of it, muddy on the outside but quite dry inside. The last few metres require care, and it's best not to try this one wearing thongs. (Of the footware variety)
Took the Pooh Bear pen and left some champagne bubbles

Better luck this time finding the clue, which helps considerably when looking for the actual cache!
The cache was lying on the ground near where it's actual hiding spot was meant to be. Not sure what was going on there but we hid it carefully as we left, in what is a really good little hiding place.

It's much easier to find a cache when you properly read all of the instructions; tackling this one again on a much more successful day. First look at the first location we went to was unsuccessful, but we managed to find the cache at the second location, and this was a hit. So does that mean the cat lived?
When we dropped by here last week, we saw a huge fat trout jump out of the river, so we figured this was as good a spot as any to drop Tongariro TB off in, though a cat and fish don't mix too well. At least from the fish's perspective.
For completeness, we visited the alternate cache location again and this time found it.

Silly me didn't research this one, so were surprised to find no trinkets but bits of paper!
Anyway we soon worked it out.
We took "Never trouble trouble until trouble troubles you." The kids thought this one quite fitting.
We left "Kids make mistakes in the dark; mistakes in the dark make kids."

Oh No, we dropped our find average below 50% again for our cache hunting today. We searched for this one for ages, as I wanted to drop Tongariro TB off as it was a quite nice spot by the river. If I had read the logs before we set out, I might have had a better idea that this one was likely not here anymore. Oh well, now I don't feel quite so bad for not being able to find it.
