Logs for Minifig Family

18-Jun-16
A nice little cache to find on a miserable Melbourne day. The boys and I arrived at just the right time and were lucky enough to meet the friendly and welcoming cache hider.

Nice, secluded little cache despite the generally busy area. Took nothing, left nothing. TFTC

I've always enjoyed strolling down the alleys of Melbourne (grew up in Carlton with its bluestone laneways) and this is the first alley cache we've done. Fortunately no-one around when we got there but I can imagine attracting the wrong sort of attention. TFTC

It's a jungle in there! Wasn't sure if we were in the right area for a while but the co-ordinates proved good and Master P was at just the right level to spot it. Took nothing, left nothing. TFTC

Got lucky, found it in the first place we looked. TFTC

We found the right location straight away but took a while to work up the nerve to go fishing. Great cache. TFTC

Second time the little guys and I have searched for this one but no luck again. I'm sure the big rollers are red herrings but not sure what the "largest metal object" is. We'll have to give it another go soon.

Nice little cache. Thanks!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!! Finally found it. (Took about 20 minutes though.)

This was a fun one. Had the nimble Master P (7yo) at work for ages without success so decided to have a go myself and spotted the thing pretty quickly. Nice range of clues scattered throughout previous logs for those who need them (i.e., us). TFTC

Nice walk along yet another stretch of Darebin Creek with the boys on a pleasant autumn morning. As usual, the hunt took us to parts of our own neighborhood we didn't even know existed. The cache was quite exposed so Master T (4yo) spotted it instantly to his great delight. Swapped in a little blue elephant and an orange starfish for the hero trading card. Also dropped a travel bug. Nestled it back in with some extra camp when we were done. TFTC

Lovely little spot, a real hidden treasure. Swapped a fortune teller card for the starfish and collected the trackable. TFTC

Had a good search with the two little trolls (who mainly enjoyed the chance to clamber down to the creek's edge and hurl in big rocks) but didn't find it in the end. Reading over the logs I'm still not sure if we should have been on or under the bridge but it was a nice location and we hope to return.

As previously noted the log needs to be replaced; it is completely full and has been damaged. Thank you.

This was a quick little grab and - as usual - geocaching proves its power to show you things in your own neighbourhood you've never seen before (the Northcote Rifle Club in this case). Took both the boys with me (6 and 3 years old) and both spotted it instantly so perhaps previous finders are right to suspect it is not in its original spot (might benefit from some camouflage if it is where it is meant to be). In the area on Saturday morning for school sport. Lots of people around but fortunately focused on their own activities. Nearly have up on this one (was interpreting the compass results a bit too strictly perhaps) but luckily when I turned to go I turned in the right direction and spotted where I had to be. Nothing taken, nothing left. TFTC

Found it...or did we? Based on the name of the cache and previous logs it must be what we thought it was. However, there was no magnet as such (though it was definitely stuck in place) and no log. That said, we loved the concept. TFTC

Fascinating piece of inner Melbourne history. Location is, ahem, technically out of bounds at the moment due to construction works (so Labour Day proved a pretty good time to investigate). TFTC

Sometimes they just seem to jump out at you. Took the two little guys out and this was just the right type of cache for them - fun but with the quick reward. Took a marbled blue stone, left a stretchy pink lizard. TFTC

It's a lovely spot, Westerfolds Park and this cache is just the right amount of challenge for an outing with a little one. Took a plastic whistle and left a sparkly red heart. TFTC

Log book is saturated, could do with a little maintenance.

Had a moment to scout around the park in between other duties and happily spotted it instantly. Log is rather wet. Took nothing, left nothing. TFTC

Enjoyable wander around the park, following the clues and finding the cache. Swapped in a stretchy lizard for sparkly red heart. The area around the cache itself turned out to have a lot of rubbish around it; certainly no fault of the cache owner and no way to see it before you get there but might be worth considering "cache in trash out" if you do this one. Nice camo and an easy find for us (despite the distraction of the mural). Logbook is pretty well full now, maybe one or two pages left in there somewhere. TFTC

What a great cache! Had a good morning's rambling with the two little guys, Messers P (aged 6) and T (aged 3). Have been to these parklands a number of times but saw and discovered so many new places while following the clues. Loved the concept and the whole experience was so well-designed. Thanks so much for the cache. Took a fortune teller card, left a stretchy snake.

Got it! Came back and found it straight away (thanks to some help from friends who found it about a week ago). Ammo box is starting to look a little worse for wear. TFTC

Nice easy find. Swapped in a stretchy lizard for little pinball toy. Cache is not watertight and log has become wet. TFTC

A lengthy search in company with the indefatigable Master P today but no luck. Found the battery housing (eventually) but there seems to be more to the clue than is immediately apparent. Reading over the older logs has helped a bit and we'll have to take another look at this soon.

Very thematic and good fun following the clues. Got the final coordinates easily enough but GPS was inaccurate on the day so although we narrowed down our search area we couldn't find the cache. We will return!
