Logs for Pilatus

11-Feb-02
Found this one fairly quickly while on my way up to Berowra waters for a bite to eat. I walked accross country to find it but took the very convenient firetrail on the way out. Should only take an experienced cacher a half hour or so return trip from the car park. Sorry to see there were no tim tamms but Ideology had got there first. Left a bag of sweets and took some interesting looking mints in a tin. Keep an eye out for the Pilatus in the next few months.

30-Dec-01
Accompanied by Thumper and Sackman Pilatus found this stash after a hike from the car park. It was a bit cool but not freezing as it was for some others. We were not the only visitors that day, someone else had logged a few hours earlier. Been a while since I have been able to go cache hunting and enjoyed the views a lot. Had a few aches the next morning not caused by a few cool beverages the night before. I guess the round trip took about 3 hours and there was still some snow left for the obligatory snow fight on the way. Worth the walk if your up this way.

04-Aug-01
Found it without any trouble, I must have passed within a meter of it last time but missed it. Had planned to hunt for the Achilles virus but the Chaos got their first! Ate the 2 remaining Freddos and left some enviromently sound fly killer. Geocachers have a sad sense of humour at times. On On On to another cache. The log is now full so bring your own if visiting.

Spent about an hour scratching about but failed to locate stash, not sure why. Could be a bad GPS day who knows. Will try again later. Think about the name and you will know where to park.

17-Apr-01
Went looking for this one but the most obvious road out of town was closed for roadworks, I guess you can get there another way but not having a road map we moved on up the coast. Next time maybe.

15-Apr-01
Found it using the clues fairly quickly, took the hitch hiker and will place him some where in NSW in the next few weeks, would be good if he can tour all the Aussie states or further even. If you are pressed for time you can get a lot closer than the suggested car-park but the walk is ok if you have time. Lots of people about when I was there.

10-Apr-01
Visited this Cache during a spare day in Melbourne, liked the location although the private property sign made me check the GPS twice before proceeding, easy to find and nice bushland.
Fits in well with the other Peninsular Caches.

Found this one after a bit of walk around, my GPS also initially insisted that the stash was to the South of the track but I looked to the north and found it where upon the GPS decided it was at the correct spot Weird! Good location with nice bushland I liked the walk from the carpark.

Found this one easily, saw the tree from about 50m away. It is well described, contents were a bit soggy. Signed the book but took nothing.

03-Apr-01
Found this cache after a bit of a run around. I went straight to the tree in the clue after a few minutes walking but didn’t spot the container as it was well covered and the body length used to measure it must have belonged to Arnie with his arms above his head. I widened my search to every other tree around and then walked down the trail a bit further to a concrete floodway and thought I had it in the bag, I then used the 20m and 10m clue to no avail, I was assaulted by leaches in the process, blood everywhere! There is a cool mossy gully and waterfall above the floodway if you want a look.
So back to the spot shown by the GPS and there it was. I scratched a small P on the tree with my car keys so you will know you have the right tree.
Cache is in good condition, took a toy car and left a drive.

Found this stash very quickly in contrast to my hunt for Frog Hollow a few hours earlier. Moral: Trust your GPS not the clues! As I knew stash was water logged I took an old towel and cleaned out the water and dried everything out as best I could. Most of the things were stuffed so I transferred them to a nearby national park waste bin. The stash is now dry but sadly a bit empty. The logbook is still a bit damp but useable in a ziplock bag. Left my soldering iron and took a pen, which was a bit rusty and soggy. As this is Australia's first stash lets keep it going. Come fill it up again!

Found it using the alternate set of coords.
I made location S33-44.668 E151-11.264
Noted that there was no pen so took my own and left it behind, took the CDR and left a mouse. The altitude clue is good I made alti 40m so don't go all the way down to the creek as you will just have to come back up like I did

28-Jan-01
Found it after about an hours walk. Terrain is quite thick scrub in places. We saw a few kangaroos and a large goanna on the walk in. We parked at S32 16.58 E149 46.723 near the refuse tip. We tracked accross country on the way in and followed tracks a bit on the way out. Accross country is probably quickest way. Would not have found it but for the clues, we made the location S32 17.211 E149 46.874 about 30m SE of the location published. Averaged for the time we were there. Quite a walk so take plenty of water. We left some more. Cache is in good condition on the surface.

23-Jan-01
Hi there,

Had some fun tonight looking for the treasure, we took the hard drive and cap and left a game pad and yet another drink.

No snakes in the tunnel under the M2 tonight, thank GOD!!!

Covered the stash with leaves again, lower track is best.

Bye for now.

Took the wrong track at first but got there in the end but still couldnt find it. Position is just off the rock crossing in the creek. Spent about a half hour looking to no avail, clue about the 40m no help either. Gps said 0m to waypoint but still couldnt find it !!

Found cache fairly easily once we got down the rock cliff. Ali wasnt impressed by the rubber snake but we enjoyed the Freddo's. Co-ords were spot on and clues easy to work out once your there. Good one ideology ! Got the hat now thanks.
