Yes! This is a huge milestone for me. I just finished my third lap around the Jasmer grid!!! Oh yeah!
I can’t do it a fourth time, the maximum, unless I travel to Europe and find the only remaining September 2000 geocache that I don’t have. In the meantime, and before I take that trip, I need to push on here in the USA and get my fourth finds for all the other months. But that’s the future. Today I’m celebrating my third Jasmer.
There is an asterisk however. I may not have three caches placed in October 2020. That’s the thing about the Jasmer; you have to constantly feed it in the present day or else you’ll fall out of qualification.

Wow. I knew it was OK to go there, but the signs and the location still made it feel weird. I sure am glad the homeowners association is agreeable. I 1000% understand why this needs to be paused and removed from service during any nearby mega. I’m by myself not saying a word and I still felt self conscious. Local muggles were fishing at the lake. Such a peaceful morning. And a nice area in general. Oops. Gotta go. The mosquitoes have found m...
Nice one. I mean, how could it not be? Reminder: this is the speech to text log. Mistakes likely, humor possible. Anyway this is my third August 2000 cash fine. I found all three in the United States now. I’m only one cash away from a triple Jazzmar in fact. This is a nice little area, a cool hike. Earlier I found the Beaver cash over a few miles away to get my third June 2000 cash. All I need now is one more September 2000 cash and I will have finished the jazzman three times around. Today I’m working on another challenge as well. For some reason I got it into my head that I needed to do 26 laps around the 366 grid. At 11 the color on your statistics chart gets a darker green, and it 26 to get a further shade darker. So that’s what I’m trying to do. I’ve only got 11 dates left. Today is one of them. As soon as I get another half dozen fines today I will only need to do 10 more dates to have this weird obsessive self-inflicted challenge finished. Thanks for having this cash be part of it.

Hallelujah! For years I thought I was going to have to go to Brazil. I still might! I tried this a couple months ago but found too much snow! This time we can through the tunnel of light. Aptly named! No TBs here at all, which seems weird. I’m dropping a few.
This cache is helping me raise today's overall month/date total to 26 caches to make today’s 366 grid square a shade darker. Yay! Well, it is.
If you’ve seen this before, take comfort in the fact each time you see one of these means you’re less likely to see it again. If you’re seeing this for the first time, welcome to my current caching obsession.
I’ve finished over 306 dates so far, which means there are less than 60 left to go — an average of just five dates a month. That means that most of the future logs you get from me will be normal ones — if they ever were.
I suppose you could consider yourself lucky because: a) you’re PART OF IT and; b) these logs are getting increasingly rare, if not downright collectible. Also, I appreciate your help, I really do, especially if this cache was a quick P&G that helped me sail through a needed 15-cache run on a weekday.
The very soonest I can finish this demented challenge is Leap Day 2020 — I need 14 more caches on that date to bring that date’s total up to 26, but at least it’s a Saturday. What this means is these last 60 or so “critical caching days” are going to be spread out over at least 18 months. So TFTC and, more to the point, thanks for helping me complete this difficult long-term quest.
Finally, if you’re thinking about taking on this challenge yourself, give me a shout. Perhaps I can talk you out of it.

?? The road to the trailhead is unplowed and deep. I might try it if I had a geobuddy and snowshoes, but today I’m fresh out.

Headed to Seattle the second week of March. My wife is working the ComicCon there, but I'll be out caching. This one is in my sights. Any other Con attendees geocachers? Snow could be iffy, but snowshoes can be rented. Still, I'd rather not do this alone.
Edit: Yeah, no. THis is an above-average winter. Too much snow to consider this. I guess I'll be finding a reason to come here this summer. Bummer. I will be in town mid-march anyway. Anyone care to offer some suggestions?

Poked and prodded to no avail for at last 20 minutes, then briefly gave up before turning around and going back in. I finally found it after another five minutes, at which point a pair of Kookaburras began to laugh it up.
Today I’m driving from Goulburn to Sydney via Bathurst, and my plan was to see a bit of countryside and the local wildlife. It certainly is raining cats and dogs, so I’m covered there. I was hoping I wouldn’t be tracking so much countryside back into the car after each find!

Nice one. I’m enjoying a leisurely drive back to Sydney. At some point I’ll have to stop caching and make a bee line for my hotel, but not just yet.

It’s there as it should be! Finally a dry stop. More rain is in the air, though.

Nice spot to stop and stretch the legs. This is a wonderful road, a great place to cache.

How fun! And such a great group of people! Please look me up if you ever find yourself on holiday in southern California. This was my first event outside the US, and my first GIFF event anywhere. (My favorite was the one made by one of your own, the guy who went broke and then went to jail after using funny money to buy another TOTT.)
This one was just over 7500 miles from my home coordinates, a distance category that I did not previously have before coming to your wonderful country. My only regret is that I only have one full caching day in my schedule. Thanks for the friendly welcome, the advice on where to go, and the cuppa!

My first cache in Australia. I’ve been here in the area about ten years ago, but that was before I started caching. It’s great to add another country to the mix. I left a travel bug I picked up at Geocoinfest in California that wanted to go south of the equator. Mission accomplished!

Yes! My second New Zealand find. I’m here on a trip with Jeep. I’ve been here three days sampling their newest Wrangler with a convoy of Muggles. We’ve been in remote areas without caches until this one. I ran off while they queued up for the toilet and found this. I released a new travel bug while I was here. I hope it doesn’t get stranded too long! TFTC.
Amazingly good cammo. I love the idea. I suspect that something like it may appear back in Southern California a short while after I return. I just have this feeling. Don’t call it copying or plagiarism, think of it as tribute. Very well done, and nicely hidden, too. TFTC.
Impressive. I love anything to do with glaciers, so this place and this rock are pretty cool. Answers will come when I get back to my hotel room and it’s WiFi connection. I’m hoping I can find a couple more before I meet a crew of Muggles for dinner but, if not, this is a great one to end the day. TFTEC.
Amazing! And it’s caches like this that make me such a fan of geocaching. A beautiful spot, an nice hide and a great historical point out. I’m only here for another day, and I spent the previous four in the backcountry with no caches about. This is my time to find!! TFTC.
Hint helped here. My GPSr was pointing 10m away. Nice walk up here on a quiet Saturday. Very few Muggles, though now that I say that a large group just started playing mini golf. I’ve been in New Zealand 3.5 days, and I leave tomorrow. Not nearly enough time. I’ll be back! TFTC.
Nice cache out of the rain. I appreciate that on a day like today. The container’s closing mechanism is nearly used up. Handle with care. I’m still looking for a place to leave a travel bug, but all of the caches I’ve found so far have been too small. I guess I’ll have to look for another! TFTC.
Remarkable view indeed. I’m enjoying my walk around the park, which is quite nice. Finding caches is merely a bonus. I’m here from the USA for a very short stay on a business trip. I’m smitten. I’ll be back with my family for a holiday. Thanks for placing this one here, and thanks for the hint. I needed a wee nudge.
Answers to come when I get back to my hotel WiFi. Very interesting, especially when you think how much surface area this lake has! I had the pleasure of chatting with Luke, the sculptor, who was here patching the base, which is copped up a bit. He told me about 10x more than was on the plaque! TFTC!
Another outstanding find in Otago. Such a great view from the GZ, too. I’m glad this one was a medium because it allowed me to drop a New Zealand-bound travel bug I picked up at Geocoinfest on the RMS Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. I wish I had more than four days to spend here! TFTC.

Close, but no cigar. I’m here south of the bridge in Today’s Borrowed Cachemobile, a 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL prototype. We’re here with special permission. I’m unable to take the time to do the hike, though. I’m gutted.
02-Nov-17
My first New Zealand cache! I’m here on a business trip, if you can believe it I’m staying at Blanket Bay. This was a fantastic pre-dawn walk. Cache is right where I expected it to be after spying the spot from last night’s taxi ride, but it was far more well hidden and difficult to remove than I expected. I hadn’t expected to need any TOTTs, so I used a key. Not as much of a park and grab as I expected. And thanks for first New Zealand cache, also my new southernmost and easternmost.

I'm 90 percent sure I'll be able to drop in for this one. Looking forward to a GIFF event. I missed out last year.

Log is full. I scrawled in the margins. This cache is helping me complete the San Bernardino County Thomas Brothers Challenge cache. It's also helping me meet another goal I have record at least 26 finds on each day/month on the 366 grid, a milestone that turns the color displayed on geocaching.com another shade darker. Thanks for the cache!
20-Nov-16
Yes! I'm now only four 2000 caches away from my second lap around the Jasmer grid! I need to get June, July, August and December 2000. August looks to be the tough one, as it was before. I'm going to have to travel farther away than Utah to get my second one of those. This one was in my home state, at least. Good thing, too, because I'm on the way north for Thanksgiving, and I'm caching up through northern California DeLorme pages and counties I don't yet have. Not sure how many I'll get along the way. This is one huge state! Thanks for the cache! And thanks for keeping this old one alive and well!
27-Sep-16
Yes, another May 2000 cache! But you know what this means, right? It means I'm now committed to a second lap around the Jasmer circuit. The first one was difficult, and a second is still going to be a tall order because of the difficulty in getting to a second August 2000 cache. That's the real bottleneck. Thanks for keeping this one going. It's so obvious I have a hard time seeing how it doesn't get Muggled all the time. Anyway, cool beans!
04-Oct-14
Yes!!! This completes my Jasmer! I'd like to thank the other members of TeamDNF--TreknTerry, Stantastic, Road2Ruin, Shamrider, Mmarmont and Niblit Sr for agreeing to come along on this quest from Southern California, Colorado and Washington State.
And such a beautiful place, too! It's the opening day of the elk hunt, so there's a lot of shooting going on. We've got orange on, but not as bright as the hunters. The weather is just about perfect, too. A three-day streak of clear skies firmed up the roads and melted what little snow fell here a few days ago. Miller Flat road (from the north, where we came in) could have been tackled easily in a Camry today. That won't last long, though. A chill is in the air. Winter is just around the corner.
And now we've got to book it to the other side of Interstate 15 to get GC80 (October 2000) for some of the others on TeamDNF before nightfall!
NOTE: ARRGH! False Alarm! My Jasmer was not complete after all. I needed to get an October 2014 cache for it to be official! I did that today (10/7) now that I'm back home. Now I can celebrate. But still, PP was the last old one I needed.

You're next, Potter's Pond. I'm celebrating in Oregon after nabbing GC12 and GC17. You are now the only Jasmer cache I need. See you in the early fall.

Got it! Wish you'd call these Boogers so I could finish the Booger challenge! . TFTC.

Did the storm that dumped May snow in Colorado last dump more snow here or did that storm miss this area?
