Camped in at the John Hayes Rockhole campsite... optimistically looked to see if there were any caches in the area...and low and behold Wink. A rock hop down the creek which is still running, good coords and description led to a quick find. I also found and returned the missing pencil, on the ground near the cache. Cache secure and in good condition...signed the log and left as found. We did the spectacular Chain of Ponds walk yesterday...great with all the water running...wading the waist deep water in the final sections of the gorge. A refreshing swim afterwards in the rockhole Smile TFTC and providing some fun in our camping trip.

What good fun! On our 8mth western half lap of Oz. We took photos of the Hard Hat Tree when we first came in to town from William Creek ... and when we checked for caches later...there you go. An obvious choice....but someone had to make it happen. TFTC Honeysuckle Smile

Camping for a couple of days beside the creek leading into Lake Cadi. Saw that a cache was nearby and set out to find it. Loads of interesting swag in the cache...swapped a Super Duper Ball that wd recovered from the Menindee Lakes for a Coober Pedy fridge magnet Wink. The coords were spot on, which was good given no cellular connection, cache is in excellent condition...first to sign the new logbook. Thanks Janet for maintaining this for us to find...and thanks for the detailed history to the lake and song...my wife remembers the song on the airwaves when she was in school up in the high country of Victoria

Great to find a cache out here in the back of beyond. A couple of weeks out of Melbourne on an 8 mth trip around the western half of Oz. Our second trip to William Creek...have been here a few days waiting out the 40 heat before heading on to Coober Pedy. Love the hospitality of Trevor and team and have again enjoyed our stay...exciting that water is once again flowing into the Lake. It is early in the season but I expect things will soon be very busy for the pilots flying visitors out to see the Lake and magnificent Painted Hills. Thanks for maintaining the cache (all looking good) and for getting me up and about before the heat of the day Wink

Cache maintenance completed...all good.

Quick check and CITO, cache is in good condition and most importantly still in the correct location and hide. All good.

Cache container replace and new log.

Noting recent report of the cache not being intact...investigated and repaired. All in one piece again. Please take care when removing and replacing the cache in its hide to retain for others. And OMG the coffee cup pig sty next to the nearby bench seat!! CITO as much as you can carry out please. I carried out a shopping bag full of cups and lids...and that is only half the pile. And we wonder why we don't have nice things Sad

Quick check and CITO all good.

Thanks for bringing me to this interesting site and sharing the history of the mine. Amazing to learn of what they achieved in the pursuit of gold! Found the cache in the obvious spot, it was a scramble initially as I seached on the down hill side of the hide before I twigged a more obvious and less scratchy approach. Thanks to The Morris for the cache, which is in very good order BTW Smile

Visiting friends for the New Year and out for a morning stroll...a quick find at a nice hide after enjoying the view. The log is too wet to sign, the paper is turning to pulp. TFTC
