Logs for thewanderingdrew

07-Jan-13
Gave this one a miss this morning.
Started the search at GZ until I happened to notice all the wasps around and then looked up and noticed all the wasp nests.
Will come back a little later and try again.

Found this morning on an early morning walk.
Part of my new years resolution to be more active, and get at least one cache per day off.

A great hide, spotted the cache soon after arriving at GZ, but it blended in so well that I wasn't sure if it was actually the cache or not.
So well camouflaged!
Thanks for the hide!

Found this morning on an early morning walk.
Part of my new years resolution to be more active, and get at least one cache per day off.

What a great hide, talk about a great sized cache!
Following the GPS, crossed the bridge a couple of times, must have looked funny to the nearby golfers.
Waited and listened to the friendly banter between the golfers until they had left.
Then went to visit the Troll.

Placed the log book and a loose piece of paper in a ziplock.
Noticed that there is no stash note in the cache, will drop one off next time I am going past.

Thanks for the cache and fantastic cache size!

What a clever cache!

Stumbled around at GZ looking out for something to go fishing with.
Re-read the description and some logs.
Found a couple of possible hiding places.
Was just about to leave empty handed when something caught my eye.
That looks a little strange, why would that be there.
Closer to investigate and BINGO!

First type of cache I have found with that extraction method, fantastic idea!!

Took nothing but left a little swag.
TFTC!
Favourite point on the way!!

No luck this morning, must have lifted almost every rock at GZ.
Oh well, will try again another day, hopefully more luck next time.

Arrived at GZ and started looking, suddenly I had the cache in hand.
Wait......ah, Nuts........Red Herring!

Looked again and success!
Was just closing up the cache when two muggles came around the corner on a morning walk.
Pocketed the cache and started walking away, stopped to check the GPS as they walked past.
Back to GZ and returned the cache.

TFTC!

Walked around at GZ, spotted something a little odd.
Hmm, nope that can't be it.
Continued wandering around for a few minutes but my eyes kept being drawn to the odd one out.
Went back over the investigate and BINGO!

Great hide, TFTC!!

31-Dec-12
First find this morning on an early morning walk.
Love the camo.
Took nothing but left a few pieces of swag.
TFTC!

Walked around GZ for a while and couldn't find anything but a couple of ducks that for some reason had taken interest in what I was doing.

Heard a noise and looked up, bingo!
What an ingenious hide, in plain sight but perfectly hidden.
Thanks for the excellent cache, favourite point on the way!.

No luck this morning, the muggle population started to increase so it was time to leave.
Sit down to start logging some caches on the computer and immediately find out why I couldn't see it at GZ, was looking for a small/regular sized cache Red Face
Will be back another morning with my caching ninja skills set for micro Big Grin

Nice walk early this morning, zero muggles around GZ.
Found the cache, but the log book was missing again.
Added an emergency log book.
TFTC!

26-Dec-12
Spur of the moment geocache on the way home at 2300 tonight.
Surprisingly still a large number of vehicles passing by.

Only had my android with c:geo so wandered around for a little bit, while it caught up.
Took the low road then the high road and then found my share of confetti and it was a celebration!
TNLNSL, will have to start keeping an emergency stash of swag in the car for when the geocaching bug bites.

01-Oct-12
Found while on the way past, thank you for a fantastic hide!

11-Jun-12
This once was on the to-do list for quite some time, took advantage of the public holiday to cross it off.

A nice walk to get to GZ, spotted quite a few ducks on the way.

Excellent hide, and an ingenious spot too!

Dropped off Hammy and Sluggo to start their journeys.

TFTC!!

Had this one on the list for some time, finally got a chance to cross it off.

A nice walk to GZ and once I arrived the hint made more sense.

A great cache, thank you!

Up before the sun this morning and made it to GZ just as the run was rising.

An excellent area, have lived in the area all my life and never knew this place existed.
After solving the questions it was off to actual GZ, soon had the cache in hand.

A great cache, thank you!

Dropped off CITO Tag Geocoin to start it's mission.

10-Jun-12
Called past and noticed the cache sticking out of it's hiding place.
Manipulated the cache's surroundings so that the cache slid back into place.

07-May-12
Quite an ingenious hide.
Thinking about this cache, there was only one type of container it could be.
Was a spur of the moment cache, as I was in Officeworks, so I didn't have my GPS, only my iPhone.
Looked at the map and managed to park right on top of it (not sure if that was dumb luck Smile )
Extracted and then SL.
Thanks for the excellent cache!

18-Apr-12
Called past and thought that I would check on the health of this cache.
Replaced the container as it still had a large hole in the bottom and added Geocaching print out for the cache.
Replaced zip lock bag that the log was in.

A great cache!

Had to be careful to put one foot before the other or something might have gone wrong Smile

Great area.
TFTC!!

12-Apr-12
Dropped Charlie home in time for Dinner.
Thanks for coming Geocaching with me Charlie!

Another excellent hide!

Should have learned after the last cache and taken the gloves out of the car, oh well what is a couple more scratches!

Perfectly cammo'ed and almost tripped over it before I found the cache.

Left a cap but didn't take one as I couldn't find one to fit my big head! Sad

SL, TFTC!!

Log book full.
Added an emergency log book which should cover things for some time, as there are quite a few lines in there to fill in.

A great walk from the main path.

An excellent cache, with not a muggle in sight.

Watched by one of the local wildlife as I retrieved the cache.

Swapped mugs and signed log.

Picked up Charlie Brown to return him to his home.

Great hide with some fantastic views!

Found the cache and nearly had a heart attack when the bull came charging out, maybe he wanted to see the cache too?

Packing up and realized that I had lost one of my geocaching pins from my geobag Sad
Oh well, if someone finds it good luck to them.

Took nothing, Left a few pieces of swag,

TFTC!

GPS was playing up in the area but after quite some time managed to find the well hidden cache!

A great hide, you have to be right on top of it before you can spot it.

Word of advice, wear gloves! The surrounding vegetation is sharp! Oh well, that's why the iodine is in the geobag Wink

Took bottle and Left a bottle.

Thanks for the great hide!

11-Apr-12
Arrived at GZ and started the search for the odd one out.

Started looking all around before the light bulb moment.
Found cache, quite and ingenious hide!

Left Blue Sky Geocoin to continue its journey onwards.

TNLNSL.

Great cache, thank you!

Spotted the cache as I pulled up opposite, already had quite a good idea on its location after reading the hint and logs.

SL.

TFTC!

An excellent hide thank you!

Followed the firetacks into the night and soon Yoda did we sight.
From the swamp we did flight, into the middle of the night.
The force we did follow, until found we the alien's hollow.
The cache we did find, the log we did sign.
Then the alien did we, leave to see, the next cacher after we.

TFTC!!

Edit: forgot to mention, the geocoin was not in the cache.

An excellent multi thank you!
Always nice to have to hunt for a cache, instead of just going to the coordinates and uncovering it.

WP2 definitely is interesting and a great idea.
Had a some trouble with it, but after reflecting on things I was magnetized by the results Smile

SL, Left a peacock bookmark clip and Took the Blue Sky Geocoin to continue its journey.

Thanks once again!
Favourite point coming your way.

Found after taking the straight route to the cache and bush bashing for a hundred meters.

Arrived at GZ and found a red herring, or was that a red crate and a pink herring.......

Eventually found the cache and signed the log.
Took: Silver coin
Left: Map Compass

TFTC!

09-Apr-12
Excellent walk early this morning to find this cache.

Walk up from the roadway was pretty steep, but made it up to the top.

Walked past GZ a couple of times as the GPS changed its mind.

Found the cache, and several spent rifle shells, might need to bring a bullet-proof vest in the future!

SL and exchanged swag, TFTC!!

Cache needs maintenance.

Cache has been exposed to the elements at one or more occasions.

Trashed the metal objects in cache as they were rusted and damaged.

Cleaned the inside of the cache out with some paper and salvaged some swag and placed inside a clean ziplock bag.

Added some swag in a separate bag so it doesn't get damaged.

Also the log books need replacing as they are damp as well, placed inside a new bag but couldn't dry them out properly.

SA ParrotHead, have some photos of the cache condition before and after if you want them, message me if interested.

First DNF [:(}

Followed the GPS to the updated coords, spent quite some time looking around the rocks and must have pulled half a tonne of seaweed out from between but to no avail.

Still couldn't find, will have to go back another day when the entire population of Adelaide are not there!

Oh well, better luck next time for me....

Second DNF for the day.

Managed to walk all the way out to GZ (note to self, buy better shoes Wink )
Arrived and walked around for quite some time while the GPS was jumping around a bit.

Ended up reading the logs and description again, and started looking at the only place high enough to survive the tides, but alas no cache was found by me Sad

Oh well, will return another day to continue the search.

An early morning walk in the park before finding the cache.
Practiced my ninja skills as there was a couple in the playground.

Excellent hide, TFTC!

06-Apr-12
Another great find today.

Came down from "Gate 29" via the paths, then went offroad via the leather boot express.

Took a little bit of working out, as the GPS decided that it would keep moving the coordinates on me Sad

Eventually found and the hint suddenly made sense!

Swapped some swag and signed the log book before re-hiding again.

Thanks for the Cache!

Yay!!!! FTF at 2120 (920)!!!! And my FTF too! Big GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig Grin

Was at home when the email came in, tore out to the car and off I went.
Parked on Langford Drv and made my way in on foot.

Walked around GZ a few times while the GPS played catchup, eventually had the cache in hand.

Took: Reindeer eraser
Left: Smiley face eraser.

* Note to self, must buy a better torch for night-caching Big Grin *

SL, TFTC!!!

03-Mar-12
A nice walk early this morning before the muggles were out and about.

Had me walking around for a little while thinking I was on the wrong side of the fence.

Eventually found the cache, a good hide! But then had to wait almost 5 minutes for muggler-walker and muggle-dog to move on from the area before I could rehide.

Took nothing, left swag, SL.

TFTC!

29-Feb-12
Called in during my lunch break and braved the rain.

It appears that the tree might be destined to become sawdust in the not too distant future.

Log pages full so I added an emergency logbook to tide things over.

T: Nothing, L: Miniature car and a pair of silk knots.

SL, TFTC!!

26-Feb-12
Fantastic cache with a great walk down to GZ (not mentioning the walk back Big Grin )

The locals kept a close eye on me on the way there and back, but unless Dr Dolittle calls by I think my secret is safe.

Took plastic dinosaur and left rubber lizard.

Also dropped off Canadian Geocoin to start its journey.

TFTC!!!

First cache for the morning, fantastic views on the drive there.

See what you mean about the steep sides, noticed an old white tarago van down the bottom of a gully, hope it wasn't someones geovan that wandered a bit too close!

Took car, left car, SL.

TFTC!!

Quick cache for the morning.
Parked on BT RD and walked down, shame about the trash, had run out of bags or I could have CITO'ed.

Great hide, took a little while to find, not in the first place I looked. Smile

TNLN, SL, TFTC!!

25-Feb-12
Called in on the way to One Tree Hill.
Great hide!
SL, TFTC!!

29-Jan-12
Spotted cache as I was getting out of the car.

Thank you for a clever hide, walked past the sign many times before and never noticed it was there Smile

Log sheets are a little damp but still managed to sign the log.

TFTH!!

A great hide! Thank you.

Followed the trail until the GPS was reading about 30 meters away then decided to go bush, couldn't directly cross the creek but remembered that an easier crossing was a little further past.

Walked 150 meters past the cache and found a large tree that has grown across the creek, made crossing easier and managed not to go for a swim!

Walked around for a little while looking in a few different spots and eventually hit the mark.

Took cow toy and left plastic dinosaur and other bits and pieces.

SL, TFTC!!

Revenge? I think you got them and a half! SmileSmile

Came from "between a fox and a bat" and followed the path as long as I could.
GPS then pointed up the hill, so that is the way I went....

Had some trouble getting up the hill, was definitely a work out.
Wasn't moving fast enough for the GPS to register the change in direction most of the time, and ended up going past the cache several times trying to get the compass to change.

Eventually found it, hidden in a clever spot, was completely hidden from the direction I approached.

After signing log and exchanging some swag, now had the problem on how to get down.
Knew I wore denim for a reason, fastest way was a straight line so I slid down via the bottom Big Grin

Thank you for a great hide!!

26-Jan-12
Decided to attempt this cache today, as being a public holiday meant that it was pretty quite out there.

Left large marble and disposed of a melted chocolate bar someone had left in there Sad

SL, TFTC!!

Great hide, thank you.

Parked down the road a little and walked across. Would be just my luck to get booked if I had parked in the bicycle lane.

Took nothing, left little toy car.

SL, TFTC!!

Excellent cache, thank you!

Attempted the cache on a public holiday to reduce the chance of being muggled while looking.

Took Pumbaa toy and left Puss in boots toy.

SL, TFTC!!
