Logs for GazaC

I haven't looked at the GA app in ages and when I did earlier I was surprised to see a whole bunch of new ones about. the description on this one was interesting and informative and hooked me in enough to go for a drive so I could test my knowledge. I passed with flying colours! turns out I am the first one to visit this cache, and it is my first GA find of this type.
wholehearted thanks to the CO for setting this one up and getting me to look up and having a closer look at something I've driven by numerous times and barely given a second glance let alone a thought.
cheers!

I found a challenge cache overseas recently that required me to find forsaken caches (ones that haven't been found in six months or longer) and found that hunting these down and giving them some love is addictive.. it turns out to be a fun side aspect of this game. This region has tonnes of forsaken caches but usually they are not so close to civilisation. Well I suppose the road here is kind of "off the beaten track" as the road was a bit of a challenge to navigate, certainly less flat, at this end compared to the other. At GZ it almost feels as though I'm no longer in Casino. I got hunting and soon had the cache in hand. Thanks for the fun and for bringing me here with this cache ashleymaree94. -- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --

I had the morning free and while going through my emails I saw that there was a new cache published in Lismore, not too far away from where I was having breakfast. Well, I had planned on a walk after breakfast which I usually take along the river, up over the hill and around behind the golf course then back down wyrallah road into town again. As this cache would only take me up another couple hundred metres uphill I figured why not add that in and increase both the exercise and the fun with a cache hunt. After a bit of huff and puff and stuff I arrived at the top... so many trees blocking the looks loose but I was happy enough to take a breather and yes I managed to see where I'd come from from up here which was surprisingly further away than I imagined. After commencing my search it wasn't long before I came up with the goods... Signed the blank log and... oooh what's this? A wee prize for *ftf* ?? Well I stashed that in my pocket for later and continued on with my walk (eventually got back to my car and found a coin to scratch... can't retire yet but I'll get another chance... if I get lucky I definitely owe Tevens a beer). My thanks go to Tevens for placing this cache, this is a great spot to visit and thanks for encouraging me to go all the way to the top, great walk. This was a satisfying multi, what with the exploration of the coasts history alongside a bunch of people watching of locals and holiday makers as the morning progressed and the boulevards got busier. There were a couple of spots along the way that took a little nutting out, indeed, when we tried to figure out the final Coordinates it was apparent that we had made a mess of things somewhere along the way. Eventually, though, we got the hassles sorted out and got a much more likely ground zero leading to a happy moment finding the stash. My thanks go to the cache owner gur the wanderer for setting this one up. Good fun, cheers.-- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --

I was visiting the gild coast for the weekend and staying fairly close by, so this virtual was definitely on my radar.. I try to bag a virtual if I see one on the map nearby. Since I was walking the beach collecting info for the multi just to the south I also kept an eye out along the way for the waypoints on this one and took note of what I needed to answer the ALR. Only problem was I forgot to take the required photograph so I backtracked before heading off for coffee and got my happy snap done.My thanks go to E ?? for publishing this one here.. I used to live for a short time on the Gold Coast but somehow neglected to take a closer look at this more tourist friendly location. It's s great spot and history to highlight, especially for visitors like me.Much enjoyed, cheers.-- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --
Out and about early with shrk and while having a coffee we realised that the cache here was a DNF for both of us, and again, both were many years in the past. With two sets of freshly caffeinated eyes we quietly rated our chance at avenging the past failures at this location. As we arrived the memories of this location floated back and I recalled having low battery at this GZ so perhaps didn't spend long on the search, but I did recall that the GPS bounced around a bit here. So this time my approach was to put down my coffee and stand for a minute in a central spot and once I had an arrow pointing me somewhere I put the phone down and walked in the direction the arrow indicated. Very soon thereafter I had the cache in hand.My thanks to Aussie liahona for hiding one here.. good to finally make the find.. the Ferris wheel wasn't here on either of my caching visits, but I think I recall it from an earlier visit years prior.-- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --

After driving to Casino to do some work I found that work was delayed due to the high amount of rain. Since I was in the area, I thought I'd see how the new rail trail i had heard about looked. I looked at the map on my geocaching app of choice to see where it came near to a road and saw that there was a geocache at just such a spot. Once I arrived, I was pleased to see there was a sheltered picnic table at the location that I could finish my coffee at and stay dry. As I sat looking at the trail in both directions, I spotted something that looked like it needed investigation quite close by, and yes, this happened to be the cache hide as I hoped. I barely got wet at all as it happens.I took the log back to the shelter to sign and found that although it was published a couple of days ago, it appeared that I was the first to find it. Quite a surprise, and my first *FTF* since arriving back in the country after walking the length of Aotearoa over summer and spring. My thanks go to Fergclan for hiding this one here.. I haven't done a lot of caching since returning, but this was a fun one to find, which kind of makes me hungry to get back into the game again. Stopped in here to shelter while having a bite to eat. There's some good sporting facilities for the locals here, and the dish lickers across the way look happy too. After having a munch and messing about with my phone killing time, I saw that there was a cache only a few metres away, so as i could tell where it likely was I wandered over without my phone out and soon noticed a likely hiding spot. Well I found the stash, but she was floating in a couple inches of water, and had anout an inch inside the box too. I emptied it out but I can't see the wee bugger not filling back up almost immediately given the state of the hiding spot and the weather lately. This one will require a bit of owner attention... at least a waterproof log My thanks go to the cache owner Fergclan for hiding one here, -- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --

Having just arrived home yesterday from walking 3029km across the length of New Zealand from the top of the North Island to the bottom of the South Island, I checked on a couple of challenges that I was close to achieving that I had been watching. This was one of them.I originally signed this challenge cache back in around 2020 I think, during a visit to the Tenterfield area, and had a great time following the old tracks and exploring the rickety old bridge as I love old structures like this. The challenge itself, though intriguing, would need to wait some time to qualify for as years of urban caching in Melbourne had my terrain rating quite heavily in the 1.5 region. It was great to selectively do mainly T2 and upwards caches since that point to try to move the average as I do prefer geocaches with a bit of a hike or adventure attached. Progress has been painfully slow, though. My recent tramp across Aotearoa however included many mountainous crossings and a five day section canoeing, which delivered me many finds with a terrain rating far above the T2 mark, and I hoped that this would finally get me over the line. It appears that it has!![GazaC](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=GazaC) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC4YPG2/8575 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.Total finds: 2582Average difficulty: 1.91Average terrain: 1.82Average total: 3.73My thanks to Captain Trend for setting this challenge. I've really enjoyed tracking my progress over the last few years as I inched towards qualification. Some great memories in these higher D/T cache hunts, so I very much appreciate this challenge and am glad to have finally achieved it.-- This log is trackable !
This was one of them.I am not actually sure what date I ticked off the last of the hidden date caches that I was chasing, but I am fairly certain it must have occurred sometime during my tramp of Aotearoa. When I initially found this challenge cache during lockdown from the pandemic I was I think only three caches shy of achieving the required qualification. Glad to see using the checker that I've finally got this one ticked off:[GazaC](https://www.geocaching.com/profile/?u=GazaC) has used [Project-GC](https://project-gc.com/Challenges/GC4VFT3/14713 "Project-GC Challenge Checker") to see if they qualified for this challenge and they did.366 dates of 366 completed. My thanks to Net88 for the challenge.. would never have noticed this stat without it. Great to see an ammo can at GZ too, cheers for the hide.

A bit of a quick visit to Christchurch following my time walking Aotearoa and enjoyed catching up with my old mucker abl973, who took me past a few local caches while he was conducting some cache maintenance. It was great stopping here, I got to see one of these vehicles driving by.. they'd be great to take on a caching run for sure.. would make getting to some tricky ones far easier.Once I got to ground zero I found a very cool hide.. it rang a bell.. ah yes, now I've looked back through my emails I see that the cache owner had given myself and some other inner circle cachers an insight into the plann8ng on this particular hide! It is indeed great to find this one in the wild. Excellent planning, construction and execution on this particular hide. A favourite for me, good to see something out of the ordinary, and well worth the stop off for more than just the hgglund. Cheers to avl973 for this contribution to the game.. beats a soggy log in a pill vial or a mint tin any day. -- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --
While in the company of the CO a visit was made to this cache while he conducted some maintenance. This allowed me a goodly amount of time to check out the spitfire from below, not exactly what you'd expect to see out the front of a supermarket usually!Well onto the cache and this is a pretty sweet hide taking advantage of unused infrastructure. I will admit it may have taken me longer to make a find if the CO had not been focusing their attention there while I eyeballed the plane. A quick sign of the log, then a quick duck into the countdown for a lovely bot bot of the campo rioja tempranillo. Bueno.Good stuff abl973, cheers for bringing me to this one.-- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --
I came to Aoteroa in mid-September last year to walk the long pathway Te Araroa from Cape Reinga 3029km to Bluff. Along the way, I passed through an amazing array of landscapes and saw some of the best NZ has to offer... as well as finding (if my maths is correct, which admittedly it isn't some of the time) 230 geocaches. 143 in the North island and with this virtual 87 in the South Island. Toda, I fly out from Christchurch Airport, so this will be my last in this beautiful country.. I'm glad that this virtual is here because it really is fitting as the endpoint of my adventure. So, while waiting for my flight, I checked out the conveniently situated artwork out front and took the required happy snap, sans backpack. It is good to finally be able to explore without that weight on my shoulders. My thanks go to the virtual cache owner 2wombles. It's great to get a smiley here to mark on the geo map the spot I flew out from, adding to my memories and fun had over the past 5 months.-- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --
I've been in NZ since September, walking the length of the country North to South along Te Araroa, finding caches here and there along the way. Knowing I'd be leaving back to Australia from Christchurch after reaching Bluff, I was keen to do a bit of urban caching, and this was one that seemed worth the effort. Around Christmas or New Year, I managed to get the final coordinates for this puzzle sorted... so with that done, it was imperative to make the find at GZ before my flight.. but how? In my research of past logs, it seemed that this would not be an easy task, and I would need help.. most likely, the contents of my backpack would be help to me.Luckily, I know a local cacher who, as it happened, had put me up in a spare bed the last few days, and he had some insight into what would be required. In fact, he was more than up for the journey to GZ to assist me in not just getting me there, nor in providing a useful implement to assist in getting me hands on the stash, most crucially he would be able to laugh at my efforts at getting the job jobbed... caching is always more fun with a mate.Well, once on site it took a bit of looking about before I spotted where I needed to access, then after pussy-cat footing about I realised I'd have to get my hands (and feet) dirty and just got down to business as they say. Up to my bo jangles in the fun stuff I found a precarious footing with the tool of the trade and did the necessary gymnastics, juggling container, lid, logbook, biro and handholds and added a likely shakily scribed trailname to the log. Now, that was fun. But I don't think I'll be wearing those shoes to the airport or on the plane. They've been through plenty of muck and wet stuff these shoes over the last 1500 or so km, my second pair for the trip, but that's probably the last adventure they'll have. It's back in the jandals for me for the next few weeks! Thanks go to kiwilegend for the fun and adventure on this one. This cache will go on my favourite list. cheers!-- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --

I've had this cache on my horizon for years, given that I used to muck about with the cache owner. I've found a couple of similar caches back home in Australia, and if I ever came to NZ this challenge would naturally be on my hit list. I of course pre-qualified having found the equivalent challenges back in Aussie, but I've taken it as a bit of an extra challenge in the interim to try and catch abl973's total of foresaken days.. I don't know if I have in fact reached his mark, but as of today I have a total of 66435 days, or approximately 182 years. A bit over a year ago, I decided to make my dream of walking Te Araroa from Cape Reinga to Bluff a reality, and in planning I took note of the cache description noting just how many Foresaken caches there can actually be at any one time dotted throughout Aotearoa... indeed, as I plotted the gpx trail of the walk on my favourite caching app I saw that many of the caches the trail passed seemed to only ever get found by TA trampers.. I guess the locals know what a fools errand it is going after some of them, I realise with the benefit of hindsight. Regardless, a plan started to slowly take shape in my mind to see if I could qualify for this challenge using just finds in New Zealand, specifically with those finds along Te Araroa. As it turns out, this additional challenge was achieved quite easily. In four finds actually, totaling 5860 days, a tad over 16 years:2023-09-252019-01-011728GC4XV84008 Drive By (Puketi Forest)2023-11-222020-01-161406GC5CNNJBurtton's sign (Manawatu)2023-11-302020-03-071363GC7R5HDThe Tramrail Cutting (Kapiti)2023-11-302020-03-071363GC6N6N2Leprechaun's Bypass Start (Otaki)I wasn't counting at the time, however, and didn't stop at four. So in the interest of complete statistics, between mid September when I began the trail, and early February when I finished, I found 73 Foresaken caches, with a combined total of 30,114 Foresaken days, roughly 82.5 years. For the sake of the challenge cache owner, 514 of these Foresaken days were on your caches abl973, though I did have to go slightly off trail in the Richmond ranges to get to them:2023-12-202023-04-07257 GC92HFYWoodstock2023-12-202023-04-07257 GC938X0The road less travelledThe good thing about hunting for lonely caches, as I am sure all who have found a challenge such as this will agree, is that these caches are almost always, by nature, far more memorable than the average cache. They take a bit more effort to get to and almost inevitably take you to interesting and noteworthy locations. In my mind, these are exactly what this silly old hobby is about... The journey, and the places they take you to.This cache gets a favourite from me, of course. My thanks go to the challenge setter abl973, yes, for the challenge, and for the cache, and of course for all the adventures its taken me on, but on a more personal note, thanks go to the CO for even though I have walked more than 3000km to find all these foresaken caches, without you, I may have had to walk a lot further to get to this cache and sign the log. After roughly five months walking the length of Aotearoa from Cape Reinga in Northland down to Bluff in Southland, my time in this beautiful country has almost come to an end. A couple of days kicking rocks in Christchurch before I fly back to Aussie could justifiably be spent hunting up a cache or two...or three.Well, being on the right side of the Tasman, while I have the chance I'd best be searching for the Eastern edition of this trans-Tasman multi.....and what better way to get it done than in the company of the cache owner abl973 himself. Quite fitting in that we used to muck about caching in Melbourne years ago on the West Island.Easy fing once at ground zero, the cache is in good order and the log is now one trail name heavier. My thanks to abl973 for setting up this multi. It's quite a clever and novel idea for a multi, well done on getting it set up and keeping it going. Also, thanks for the lift to GZ mate, a bloke could get used to being chauffeured around like this. After walking 3029 kilometres tramping across Aotearoa along Te Araroa we are in Christchurch before flying home to Australia. A bit of caching while exploring is the order of the day along with a wee bit of record shopping. This cache was not on my plan but I noticed we would pass it while traversing across Hagley Park. I went straight to what turned out to be the correct hiding spot but didn't find it until my second pass after discounting areas elsewhere. My thanks go to the cache owner billiehenny for hiding one here. I am visiting Christchurch for the first time, and exploring is always better with a bit of caching along the way. While following the river towards the parkland I was brought t9 this location by the virtual here. It is amazing to me that so much of the city fell down and some buildings were pretty much left unscathed. A local friend of mine pointed out other buildings that were some of the only ones left standing and there seems to be no logic to it. Perhaps the whole CBD should have been relocated but I suppose that would be unfair on buildings such as this that were indeed built to last.My answers have been sent to the CO and I've been given permission to log this virtual as found. Thanks to the cache owner for the info provided here and for bringing me to this location.-- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --
I am visiting Christchurch for the first time, and exploring is always better with a bit of caching along the way. I visited the Smash Palace nearby which has some tasty beverages and a pretty sweet record store up the stair case behind it.Not far away from there, though, this virtual cache beckoned. A pretty cool sculpture. I enjoyed reading the background information that the listing provided, it gave me a good understanding of the significance of the sculpture to the history of the city.My answers have been dutifully forwarded to the Cache owner who has given me permission to login as found. Thanks to MacPacMum for the info provided on this one and for bringing me here and showing me these cuties. ?? -- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --
After walking 3029 kilometres tramping across Aotearoa along Te Araroa we are in Christchurch before flying home to Australia. A bit of caching while exploring is the order of the day along with a wee bit of record shopping. Now, this is a type of geocache you don't see a lot of anymore... I found one early on in my caching career, and another one years later which I forgot to log and once I remembered to log it had been archived and locked... so just the one lonely Web cam find in my statistics. When I spied this one on the map I made sure to do it... even if I had to wander here on my own in the middle of the night to get it done. There was a security guard who took interest in me as I made my way through the campus but a friendly wave and he waved back and moved on... then it was the waiting game, stood refreshing and refreshing the browser on my phone until I saw myself on the screen. Boom! Job jobbed. My thanks go to kiwilegend for setting this up and ensuring that it stays in the game. Much appreciated, cheers.Happy snap attached.-- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --

After completing my tramp along the famed Te Araroa, Aotearoa's long pathway, from Cape Reinga in the North to Bluff in the South, a quick visit was made to Dunedin on the way to Christchurch where I would be flying back to Australia from. While in this beautiful city, home of Speights, Flying Nun and Scarfies, I hoped to do a little exploring and yes maybe a little caching too. What a windy but wonderful city, quirky and quaint all at once. A joy to explore! This cache I only noticed amongst the nearby caches because of how short it's GC code was... such an elder statesman of the game requires the respect of a visit.. I see there are some other oldies in Dunedin also but as I am on foot this was the only one I had a chance to visit. I was glad for the walk as I also got to explore not just the botanic harden but the uni as well.. very glad to have had the opportunity.Once I found my way through the maze of garden paths to GZ the cache was found quickly in good condition. My appreciation to Donovan for hiding this one way back when and keeping it in the game in the subsequent couple decades plus. Only 2.2km remaining of my 3029km Te Araroa journey that started all the up at Cape Reinga in Northland... still can't believe the finish is finally here! Of course I need to nab a smiley or two here in Bluff to mark my adventure on the geo map and this oldie would certainly be a worthy addition to my finds in Aotearoa.Fortunately I had read some prior logs in advance so had noted a recent finders alternate Coordinates and between the two I soon had made the find.. it helps that this oldie is also a biggie. My thanks to the CO Donovan for hiding this cache here, but also for maintaining it and keeping it in the game all these years... it's old enough to have kids! The post thru-hike doldrums have not yet hit me after completing the Te Araroa.. what do I do when I no longer have to walk all day? I only had to walk about 10km today and I can't sit around drinking beer all day... well this cache is only a couple of kilometres further on, and it technically appears to be even further south than the signpost at Stirling Point.More tragically, in the absence of walking purpose, I realised that if i complete this section of the Foveaux walkway and then back up bluff Hill and then down the roadway back to town I will have then walked all of the circumference of bluff plus walked each of the paths to the middle of Bluff. What is wrong with me? Of course I did just that. Unsurprisingly, none of my Te Araroa tramping cohort opted to join me. Johan still finds it hilarious that I found one geocache on the 3029km walk from Cape Reinga, let alone hundreds of them. Meet you at the pub guys!It didn't take too long to get to GZ and unlike Lands End (muggle central) I had the area to myself. It took me a few minutes and eventually found the wee container, scribbling my name in the log. Thanks rentdi29 for hiding this cache here, it is now definitively my most southern cache find. Cheers! As George Harrison would say, All things must pass, indeed, after 5 months and 3029km my Te Araroa adventure has reached its conclusion here at Stirling Point. It was a bittersweet visit with the relief and feeling of achievement at finishing the undertaking but also a sad feeling that this adventurous lifestyle has just about come to an end and now returning to normal life once more begins to fill me with dread.Fortunately for us, a freakishly tall Dutchman named Johan that we had made friends with along the way and walked with at various points along the trail finished a day before us and met us at Stirling Point with some beers to celebrate and soak up the emotions.. luckily the sun came out for us as well.Of course, as a shameless geocacher, I also needed to get a smiley here to mark the occasion and this Stash was very conveniently placed in just the right place. Between celebratory beers i made a quick little scramble and scratch and soon I had the cache in hand. Thanks go to trutta for hiding this cache here and to chosen 1978 for maintaining it.. I doubt I'll ever be this far south again in the near future so it's great to get a find here today. It is most likely the furthest south cache I will ever find. I've completed my 3029km Te Araroa trek from Cape Reinga to Bluff now, what will I do with myself? I guess for now I could keep wandering around and do a little geocaching. With this earthcache right by the trails terminus it wouldn't do not to have a bit of investigation into the geology here along bluffs coast.I had a bit of a look around between beers at the signpost and had a bit of a think about the questions. I feel like a got a good sense of what the CO wanted me to muse on. My answers have been sent on to the owner to complete my logging requirements.Cheers to southlandicebergs for publishing this cache here, its definitely the most southerly earthcache I have found, and in the handfull of most southern caches I am likely to ever find. After five months walking Te Araroa from Cape Reinga, i cant believe this is the last day and there is only 8.4km left to walk to bluff... a wee bit more zinging and zapping and of course one last hill climb. But first, after staying at a fatmstay close by for the night first up we passed this iconic landmark advertising ones arrival in bluff. The obligatory snapshots were taken before I set about the cache hunt. Almost made it to Bluff now after months walking Te Araroa along the length of Aotearoa from Cape Reinga way back in September, its been a wild ride and can't believe I'm so close. A quick stop off in invercargill before the final road walk into bluff... only one hill left to climb haha.Even when I'm off trail there is still walking, we came to this park for a bit of chill time and while here I made a quick find of this one. In the final days of my Te Araroa journey now, and during a couple days rest at Riverton I solved this puzzle for my walk today along the beach towards oreti. We managed to dodge the rain though the wind was another thing entirely. Luckily it was at my back most of the day and with a retreating tide the sand was firm and moist for the whole beach section.Along the way I ducked into the dunes to grab this one. I searched for about five minutes checking various places but eventually came back to the first spot for a more thorough look. Cache found soon afterwards. With 60ish km remaining of my Te Araroa adventure I found myself at Riverton quite a bit ahead of schedule.. cheap and friendly accomodation at the local holiday park meant that this would be an ideal place to rest and recover for a couple of days before heading off towards the finish at Bluff. This of course meant there was time to do a little local sight seeing and yes, maybe hunt for a cache or two.I saw this challenge over on the beach side of town and thought it would be a good spot to check out, but I was dubious as to Wether I would qualify. Thanks to the checker I was surprised to see that I had in fact done the hard part.At GZ thistles were dodged and although my pen wouldn't work I got a photo of the log for proof.Cheers Pengi, great challenge!Lots of great memories going through the qualifying list. After walking 2949.4km from Cape Reinga in Northland along the long pathway Te Araroa, Today i finally reached the water at Southland. Still some 80km to get to the finish at Bluff, but it felt like a major milestone to get to the ocean at the south after all this walking. As this mystery cache was the closest to this point where my journey suddenly turned sharply east rather than south I was very keen to get it. I spent considerable time working on the solve and I was well on my way, but as it was almost time to get walking again I reached out to the CO pretty much begging to be taken pity upon. Thankfully the owner must have felt pity and very quickly replied with a generous nudge to get me closer to the finish line.I'm glad for it, as when I got to ground zero I soon found a very apt container that fitted with the theme rather well. A very cool custom stash at that. Well chuffed, i got my name in the log and enjoyed the lovely location. My thanks to RaynPengi for this cache, I did enjoy working my way through this one and the final made the perseverance worth it... a great cache to gain a smiley on to mark the point on this journey where I felt for the first time that I really was NEARLY THERE. Walking southward from Cape Reinga to Bluff along Te Araroa, the long pathway, and I managed along the way to stop for the occasional cache. What a welcome sight the tavern at Colac is to a tramper. A cold drink and a bite to eat is a high priority, but with a cache not far from the beer garden it wasn't long before I took a moment to duck over and check this one out. At first I began scanning about at the main feature here but the compass on my phone insisted I look at a less assuming feature nearby. Continuing my unrelenting southward Journey along the long pathway Te Araroa, we've been making our way up and down and along the steep mountains and ridges between Wanaka and Arrowtown. Today was the last day of the section after staying the night at Roses hut... a cheeky 500m climb straight away after breakfast followed by a chilled Ridge sidle followed by a steep des ent down to the arrow river which we walking along and through for the next 4.5km to Macedtown... boy was that water cold first thing on my poor toes... they felt like they would drop off. Arriving at Macetown gave a good opportunity to let the feet dry and regain feeling again, an early lunch break gave me a chance to hunt for this cache also.I found it in a pretty wet state and made a mark in the log as best I could before heading back to the days tramping. My thanks to Brendan, Murray and tui for hiding this cache here, I so love a more remote cache, and its great to get a smiley not far off the TA trail to mark my progress.. also noticed just now this cache is more than 20 years old, cheers for keeping it alive!-- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --

We had a day off from Te Araroa today in Wanaka, mainly to rest and resupply before the big hills needing crossed in the next few days between here and Queenstown. Since I had time, I stopped off and found a couple of geoca he's like a good little tourist. I visited the tree because, well, everyone else was... I suppose the leafy bugger is photogenic, lovely backdrop n all.The nearby cache was the next sight I hoped to see, at first it eluded me but after expanding the search area I soon found a suspicious bit of camp re Ealing the hide.My thanks to the cache owner here for adding to today's fun #tftc-- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --
A day off the trail in whanaka today. Of course there was shopping and things to get done, but also some time to find a cache or two while in town. I saw that this one was nearby and involved a library... I've never found a library ca he that I did not enjoy so in we went for a squizz. At first I was bamboozled, mainly because there was a nearby tome that distracted my attention, but soon enough, after getting some knowing smirks from the librarian I was given a nudge in the right direction. My thanks and appreciation to the cache owner highfiveitslivtime for creating this cache. Well done. -- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --

Continuing southward on my Te Araroa journey, today I hiked from Lake Hawea through Albert Town to Wanaka. It was fairly flat and easy walking along mostly gravel bike paths, but the sun was blazing, the UV high, and the path at times was very exposed. We did take advantage on many occasions along the way to have a swim in the water we were alongside all day, why would you not?I only stopped to find one cache because we just wanted to get out of the sun.. I couldn't pass this one up, and it only took me a minute to find, sign and replace it. My thanks to Dups16 for hiding one here, not a bad view of the lake at this spot either. Cheers.-- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --
