Go_Zz found it and then realised we forgot a pen.

21-May-24
Will do my best to attend

15-Dec-23
Some unsavoury types have threatened Geocachers in this area which has been reported to police. Disabling cache while we work out if it's safe to keep it here.

14-Oct-22
Found with Ranger's on a Discovery week in Taranaki based at TOPEC doing rafting, high ropes courses and bush survival skills TFTC

09-Oct-22
Found it while checking my caches in the area. Very soggy log

Found with Go_Zz while getting the new ones.

Joint {FTF} with Go_Zz.
Driving slowly towards this one there's another car coming from the other end of the road "Do you think he's another cacher or did he come from the house on the end?" I asked Go_Zz. We stopped near the cache and he turned and came back asking if we were lost. "No, have you heard of geocaching?" I asked him.
Did the 'What's geocaching' talk and that there will be more vehicles visiting now. He told me there's regularly lost drivers on this short piece of road, and all about the night a car came screaming down the road and crashed through the fence into the paddock with the cops after him.
Meantime Go_Zz did the honors with the cache.

We're heading home for breakfast now so someone else can have some FTFs.

Joint {FTF} with Go_Zz. No4 for the morning and Go_Zz is navigating. I guessed we were heading here. A very calm morning, lots of birds chirping, the clouds are threatening to rain. Quickly signed and off to the next one then we'll go home for breakfast. Tftc

Joint {FTF} with Go_Zz. Got 5 this morning then went home for breakfast and fix logs to discover we left 1 new cache behind plus noones logged the other new caches yet. Off we go again to get this one.
Tftc MIOW4 for a fun morning.

Joint {FTF} with Go_Zz. Nice quiet morning for finding caches.
I've been told there is a nice swimming hole just upstream from the bridge here. A bit too refreshing for me.
TFTC

Joint {FTF} with Go_Zz. Continuing our journey, we pulled off the road for this one (I like the easy parking). Go_Zz had a poke around, couldn't find it, I had a go, there it is. TFTC

Joint {FTF} with Go_Zz. Getting out of bed this morning, checked the phone and 3 new published caches, check the first one and it's 1 road over, less than 2kms away (as the crow flies). Quick shower and ask Go_Zz "do you want to get a couple of FTFs? Get out of bed, I'm leaving in 5mins"
Coffees in travel mugs, off we go up the road to this one (by road this is the closest).
Go_Zz found it.
Easy parking close to the cache. Thanks for getting her out of bed.

Go_Zz found this today. She didn't like the blackberry that caught her.

Cori got FTF for this one this morning. We're 2tf. Has a fun morning. TFTC MIOW4

After going out this morning to get the new caches on Alfred Rd, had breakfast and back out to get a few more. In the meantime Cuzin Cori has already been here.

We were going to find some of the caches out here yesterday, but one of our animals conspired against us so we didn't get here and now all the FTF's are gone.
So this morning I told the family that as it was Mother's Day, it was my choice, so off for a walk around the lake we went. At this cache we went the wrong way to find GZ, Go_Zz found the cache once we found the right path.
TFTC Trayc.g

My choice for family fun today for Mothers Day so we went for a walk around the lake and to get a few of the new caches. A cloudy day today so most of the mountain was hiding.

Out for a walk for mother's day with the family.
This one stumped me a bit as I was looking at the wrong hint item. Found by Soso and then we carried on around the lake. TFTC

Soso was on a sleepover for GigiEV's birthday and this cache was found as part of the birthday fun. Thanks Trayc.g for taking Soso caching and TFTC TaraTed

15-Apr-22
Having found Shanks Pony Rest down the hill, we continued up and stopped at the junction for morning tea then carried on up here for the view and the cache. In the Leatherwood area we lost and refound the path, but did not need a machete. Go_Zz found this one. Tftc

Came here twice today, first time the views were awesome and got some great photos, but no cache and MrJ said if we wanted to do Maude Peak we had to move.
Back an hour later and the views were not so great, and after hunting for ages for the cache we gave up and headed home having found 5 caches, 1 dnf and a very sore body.
Thanks for bringing me here

No 400!! What a bonus, reaching a milestone on one of the hardest caches I've ever found. What a day.
Trayc.g picked up Go_Zz, MrJ and myself bright n early for a day caching on the mountain. Having found 4 other caches and a quick look for a 5th, Mr J said if we wanted this one we better move as the clouds were moving in.
The path up this peak is quite easy to follow, ie not get lost, but I really should have done some training for today. My body is now telling me all about it.
Anyway, I got to the top, the cache was found (not by me) and signed by all then we carefully made our way back down. Back on the main track MrJ and Go_Zz carried on to Staircase for Henry and North Egmont Visitors Centre while Trayc.g and I retraced our steps, back to the tarns (which by now had clouded in), and back to the car way down at Mangorei Rd. Glad to have crossed this off, didn't think I ever would. Never say never I guess. Tftc

Trayc.g organised a caching trip for her and I. Go_Zz and MrJ came too. Trayc.g had already found this one a few years ago. We stopped for a rest and bit of food and when the muggles left Go_Zz and I went looking. She found it and once MrJ's cup of tea was boiled n consumed we carried on our way. Tftc

First find for the day. Trayc.g wanted to get some of the caches in the Pouakai area, did I want to come? I'm not sure if I wanted to come or not as I'm not very fit at the mo, but said yes anyway, Go_Zz made it clear we weren't going without her, and I got MrJ to come too.
TFTC

After a rest at the Pouakai Hutt and to bag the cache there, Trayc.g, Go_Zz, MrJ and myself carried on our way. We had fun posing on the rock for photos here. Trayc.g found this one. Tftc

02-Apr-22
Out for a cache hunt with Go_Zz, GigiEV and Soso. This one took a little longer to find as we started at the wrong K, plus some muggles came past while we were hunting so we ducked and froze while they went by. Go_Zz found this one. Several varieties of ducks and some black swan at the lake today.
Tftc

Out caching with Go_Zz, Soso and GigiEV. Soso navigated us a bit too far down the track and looked around the wrong buttress tree (making difficult more of a 3 than 1.5). I went back and found the correct tree for the find. TNLNSL TFTC

Soso asked if GigiEV could stay the night and could we go Geocaching. Sure why not. So after consulting Trayc.g re what caches does GigiEV not have, we made a plan for Barretts Domain and off we went.

23-Oct-21
Going for a walk around the lake today. Go_Zz and hubby had left Soso and I behind.
Saw lots of native birds, North Island Robin kept us company most of the way. Also saw Saddleback and Hihi.
Soso found this cache. TFTC

Hubby wanted to come down to Hawera shopping so i said 'how about walk around Lake Rotokare after'. Turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. The girls found this easily. TFTC

27-Jul-21
As long as Go_Zz's netball game is not a 12pm game, we'll be there

09-Jul-21
I had a bit of time to spare while in Inglewood today waiting for time to tick by for an appointment so came to get this cache.

13-Jun-21
Soso wanted to go caching yesterday but to the caches here that we have done before so she could check out their swag. I said if we're doing that, we also had to do the multi so I could actually log a cache.
We had a lovely bush walk counting bridges. Worked out where the next Waypoint was. Once we got close we sat on a nearby seat to work out the final and off to GZ. There was a hint item close to my projection but no cache. Tried several other hint items nearby but no cache, only the bones of a small dead animal.
Checked my projection coordinates again this morning with satellite map and the first item we went to is there right one but no cache, although the grass is in places 1-2 foot long. Last year when we were here there were horses in this area but there are no fences now.
Thanks for a nice walk.

Found with the Inglewood Rangers, its quite damp including the log book. They had fun finding this in the dark.

30-May-21
Solved this a while ago. I remember testing several options before confirming i had the right answer.
Decided i need to 'find' some of the many puzzles i have solved.
Today in in town with Soso today so dropped by to get this one. I sat on the seat as lookout while Soso found the cache. TFTC

17-May-21
Came here yesterday with Trayc.g and cuzincori. Had a good hunt around but couldn't find the cache

16-May-21
I'd been here before to try and find this with my daughters but it was just before church so we had to leave as the girls were getting really nervous about being muggled. Today with 3 sets of eyes Trayc.g soon made the find.
TFTC

Trayc.g said we 'had to' stop and look for this cache as it's been taunting her for a long time. Cuzincori and I hunted for a while but couldn't find anything then Trayc.g came over and found it quite quickly. VERY clever camo. We all signed the log then replaced it properly. TFTC

On a caching adventure for the day in the Wanganui/Marton areas with Trayc.g and cuzincori.
Trayc.g bought us here for our lunch break and to see if we could find the cache here. While cuzincori was otherwise occupied I made a quick find of the cleavrrly camoed cache, then we had our picnic lunch.

Today was a caching adventure in the Wanganui and Marton areas with Trayc.g and cuzincori. Our day started by leaving home at 4.30am to meet the low tide in Wanganui for 'stranded' up the road.
Cuzincori drove his GeoTruck on the 4x4 track which isn't really wide enough anymore. The last bit was on foot, climbing hills, negotiating cutty grass and gorse. We finally made it and cuzincori made the find. Now down the beach to the next one.
TFTC

Trayc.g, cuzincori and I spent the day finding caches in Wanganui and Marton areas targeting a few high DT grid caches. Stopped in Martkn for lunch and while here Trayc.g suggested we quickly do the AL here and get the bonus cache.
The AL was quick but the bonus took a while. We couldn't get our phones to settle so had to search all over.
I was ready to quit when cuzincori called out 'found the tool'. Looked at the tool, we need to look for a ... and it's supposed to be under the tool. Hunting around I spied something that didn't belong and came up with the cache. Obviously a new container as it does not need the tool to get in.

Today was a caching adventure in the Wanganui and Marton areas with Trayc.g and cuzincori. Our day started by leaving home at 4.30am to meet the low tide in Wanganui. After a few caches as the sun was rising in Wanganui we came to this reserve, got the bridge cache then Trayc.g says there is another one here, do we want to get it. None of us had down loaded it so we had no coordinates, but somehow Trayc.g managed to get the hint instructions on her phone so we followed those to find the tree and the cache.
TFTC angela&ian for a fun,& at times slippery walk in a beautiful reserve we would never have visited otherwise.

Came here with Trayc.g and cuzincori to complete the AL cache so we couldn't leave without getting this one too. Found after a short search.

Today was a caching adventure in the Wanganui and Marton areas with Trayc.g and cuzincori. After getting a couple of caches nearby, with no reception and no offline info, we made our way here with no idea what to expect. The waterfall was a lovely surprise and the cache easily found by Tastyc.g.
TFTC

After a morning doing caches with high DT ratings this morning, we were trying to get all the other caches in the area except we hadn't downloaded the offline data so only had the location, no info.
We stopped at a gateway to a reserve but decided this probably wasn't where wer were supposed to be as there wasn't any sign about a memorial so we drove further around the corner and found the gate with the memorial sign on it.
Following the path up the hill, hoping we are going the right way, I'm in the lead so the first to see the monmument. What an impressive sight.
With only the hint accessible on Trayc.g's phone we were able to find and sign the cache.
Have since searched Robert Bruce and discovered there is quite a bit online about him now.
TFTC and for bringing us to this monmument that we never would have known was here otherwise.

I never thought I would do this one but Trayc.g wanted to do a trip to Wanganui aiming for DT grid gaps. The date was picked, the cache list set. Trayc.g, CuzinCori and I left our home town 4.30am to be here for low tide which also happened to be before the sun came up.
Where we crossed was way above our gumboot level. High waist level for me. (Should have gone closer to the bridge) Once across we went the way in with ALL the toitoi. Very slow going. Lots of cuts and cursing.
Finally got to the hint item and CuzinCori was up and found the cache before I was half way round.
Coming out, OMG if I didn't have my phone or buddies I'd be in the ocean. Cori found a vantage point to work out the easiest way back and what do we find, 2 tents pitched on the island that we had to go past.
Back on the mud flats and nearly at the other side I tripped and ended up swimming back to the beach. Thank goodness it wasn't as chilly as I was expecting.
Tftc and an FP for the fun adventure

Today was a caching adventure in the Wanganui and Marton areas with Trayc.g and cuzincori. Our day started by leaving home at 4.30am to meet the low tide in Wanganui.
After completing a few high DT caches in Wanganui we came here and cuzincori nipped across the bridge to retrieve the cache for us to sign.
TFTC to watcache for placing the cache and to cuzincori for retrieving it.

Not here. Checked all the hint objects including the one with spot on coords. Couldn't find it.

After finding Mana Agnes & Flora, and completing the requirements for South Mole Earthcache we walked up the beach to the rocks then decided although the rocks don't look nice (a fall would hurt a lot) they were probably better than bush bashing. Rock hopped as far as we could then back into the scrub to close in on the cache. Found the towers and the cache.
Tftc and for the adventure getting here.
