We spent our last night in Sydney by buying a few souveniers and a last walk around the piers, the bridge, opera and everything sydney.

We enjoyed every bit of this 5 week long trip, thank you Australia and all the cache owners!

Our second visit near Katoomba. This time we went to see some viewpoints we missed last time, the Wentworth Falls, and then went to Glennbrook for a short walk to the Red Hands Cave.

Thanks!

We chose the easy way for this cache, as I did not fly in my climbing gear from Czech Republic. However, I hope my next australian trip will include some canyoning and I might as well come back for a proper difficulty!

Thanks!

We drove to Cobar late at night and camped next to the old reservoir. The night was clear and we made a few beautiful pictures of the night sky. In the morning, we have visited the museum, walked around the city and headed south through the australian outback, meeting a lot of goats and kangaroos along the roads.

Thanks for the cache!

At the end of our trip in Australia, we decided to take a look into the australian outback. We set out GPS to Cobar, but the Warrumbungles were in our way, so we had to visit at least for a bit. We visited the observatory, a few views and the Split rock, including the cache up there!

Thanks!

After a night in Narrabri, we visited the Sawn Rock and Mt. Kaputar, including a short walk in the afternoon. We met very few people and enjoyed the quiet mountains, great views and rock formations.

Especially the Sawn Rock was really worth the long drive there!

As the top of the mountain was pretty much deserted (except for two people just leaving and one kangaroo watching us), we decided to have a lunch there.

We reached the Hervey bay, the northernmost Australian city on our trip. Hooray! Unfortunately, that means it's time to get going south again. So we had a short walk around the beach, pretty much deserted at this time of a year. Next, we went for a quick visit to the Rainbow beach, Cooloola and headed for a night to Peach Trees camp near Jimna. It was a great day, and it just happened that a huge rainfall caught us around the Fraser Island. Lucky we didn't plant a trip to the island, it might not have been pleasant. Maybe next time!

We got a hint to visit somewhere and did not regret it. We parked in the morning somewhere around the heads and headed out for a walk. It was a very pleasant strawl around the coast, under a very nice weather. We watched surfers and the ocean and got to the Hell's Gate. We originally planned to have a lunch there, but it was so windy we decided to withdraw and go back a bit. So I quickly gathered the indices and we stopped for lunch further back. We have watched a whale playing in water and later found the cache near Dolphin point forgotten on our way to Hell's Gate.

Thanks for the cache!

That turned out to be a great choice. As soon as we were sitting down, a whale jumped out of the ocean just under the cliffs we were sitting at. We spent some time observing it, and I even got a few nice pictures (though my camera wasn't ready for the few close ones).

We had a great day in Brisbane, took the free ferry from the city center to the cache and walked all the way back, having lunch in china town, enjoying views from the bridge, envying the rock climbers (the gear is a bit too much to take on a plane); but the best part must have been the lagoon (even though closed) and the surrounding parks and refreshing water constructs. Lovely! The only thing we missed was an ice cream shop, as the only one we found made the nitrogen ice cream and they were sooo slow!

I did not want to ruin the skyline too much by including the fence, so here is my attempt at fulfilling the requirements as non-intrusive as possible Smile

Thanks for the cache!

We had a few days in Brisbane and one of them was unfortunately dedicated for work. But we could not resist and took a short trip on Mt. Gravatt, as it's very close to our accommodation there. We did not regret, had a great walk all around and even managed to pick a few caches!

Thanks!

We just had to make a short stop at Byron Bay, and i could not resist the urge to have the australias most easterly cache. So we did. It took us two visits, as the first time the spot was way too crowded. But the second attempt was successful and it even didn't take me as much time as I expected. Nice cache and beautiful views all around, no wonder this place is so popular.

Thanks!

We have decided to try our luck on the Platypus Flat to see if we could spot a platypus there. Unfortunately, that did not happen but we had a great trip around the national parks here. I did expect rough roads, some of them unsealed, but they took us by surprise as we had to drive more than 40km on unsealed roads. But our rented corolla did well and after pulling a few branches from the bottom protective cover, we made it without a scratch!

Thanks!

We arrived to Port Macquarie a bit late and it was getting dark real fast. So we just took a short walk around the waterfront, picked up a cache, made a few photos andd off we went, to find our accommodation for the night.

Thanks!

We headed to Lemon Tree Passage from Nelson Bay to see if we could spot some koalas. Unfortunately, they were too shy and decided to hide. We even went to the koala centre and got a few hints where some have been spotted that day, but no luck; we strongly suspect that someone reported those bulky parasites often found on trees as koalas, as from large distances they look alike. Fortunately, we at least got a cache here and could be on our way!

Thanks!

We had a great time in Nelson Bay, relaxing and doing a bit of work in the park. The only downside was a kookaburra stealing our lunch (they picked out the meat out of a hamburger, not touching anything else!), as we were not careful enough Smile

On our way back, we stopped for a few caches (but only found one), an ice cream and did a nice sunset walk around the coast.

Thanks for the cache!

We have visited in the evening with nobody around, but I wasn't ready to sweep all of those small spots with my hands. I could not find anything just by looking.

After a night in Bendeela, we have decided to take a short trip around. As we had a hard time finding a decent map of the surroundings, we decided to go for the Three views, as there is a cache there and seemed like a pleasant walk. As it was, we had a great weather for viewing the valley and even distant mountains, took a few pictures and found all the indices.

I even did a bit of climbing to get to the final, as the GPS was sending me under the cliff at first. But I found it in the end!

Thanks for the cache!

After visiting Canberra, we headed out to the Kangaroo Valley, stopping over at Fitzroy falls for a short trip. It was a bit of a letdown, as the falls were very weak and the platypus nowhere to be seen, but still it made for a nice walk to stretch our legs.

Thanks!

The Bendeela campground was very nice to us. Not too crowded (at the time of the year) and a lot of wombats roaming around our tent, kangaroos hopping around the rear (closed) part.

Thanks!

We found a cheap accommodation at the university village. In the morning, we jumped on a bus to the city centre near the parliaments and everything. We walked around all the institutions, admiring how strange the aritifical town looks, but still appreciating it's functionality. We roamed around the lake to the city in the afternoon and even managed to stop for an hour at the museum. We are lucky it is free, as I would probably not want to pay an entrance fee just for a single hour!

During the day we picked a few caches, did the I love Canberra Wherigo and enjoyed the unique atmosphere in the city!

Thanks!

I really enjoyed the cache, what a great idea! We even got a bonus at the final location in the form of a possum watching over the cache!

We could not miss the opportunity to visit the Deep Space Communication Complex. We drove up to Tidbinbilla and headed straight into the complex. We have visited the exhibition and headed out to get some nice views and photos. A few caches around gave me the opportunity for a few nice sunset photos of the dishes, some of them even included a few kangaroos roaming around.

Thanks!

As we were leaving the DSCC, we picked up this last cache and headed out. But we happened to spot a wombat nearby, so we stopped almost on spot and tried to take a few pictures. He was not very friendly and soon hid himself in a shallow den. At least we have seen our first wombat after almost two weeks in Australia!

Thanks!

We had bad luck spotting coalas on other spots, but this place was recommended to us by our accommodation at Lake Entrace. We drove here, took a ferry over and walk along the track. At first, we startled a few kangaroos next to the road, but no koalas almost to the end. But then we noticed a koala high in a tree above some house. We took a few photos in case we won't see more, but then we discovered a koala paradise in those low trees. Some of them were sleeping, some of them opened one eye to check who's bothering them during their nap. We have seen at least a dozen koalas, maybe more.

At the GZ I had a bit harder time finding the cache. There seemed to be a holder, but that is rusted away and the cache is hidden behind a corner, maybe a bit harder to find than necessary. But I was successful and we enjoyed the cache & koalas very much!

Thanks!

After a few days in Melbourne, we decided to take the Great Ocean road to Warrnambool and back, as we were heading north-east. It started well, but as it happened, there was a marathon from Torqua to Apollo Bay, so we got a bit delayed. Nevertheless, it worked out well as we used a bit more time the next day to visit almost everything. We enjoyed the relaxing drive around the coast, stopped at some viewpoints and beaches and even tried to spot koalas, though unsuccessfully.

On the second day we headed back via Melbourne to Lake Entrance and visited the last few spots on our road -- mostly The Twelve Apostles and friends. There were quite a few touristis and the weather wasn't that great, but we were not startled and enjoyed the scenery anyway.

Thanks for the cache!
