In 1897, the Nashua River above the town of Clinton was impounded by the Wachusett Dam. Six and 1/2 square miles were flooded in the towns of Boylston, West Boylston, Clinton and Sterling. and its water conveyed by the Wachusett/Weston Aqueduct to Weston Reservoir and then by pipeline to the Chestnut Hill and Spot Pond Reservoirs. Work was completed in 1905 and the reservoir first filled in May 1908.

The Wachusett system was built to service the 29 municipalities within the 10 mile radius of the State House. At the time, the Wachusett Reservoir was the largest public water supply reservoir in the world.

Water from the Wachusett Aqueduct could be released into the reservoirs of the Sudbury River system for transport to Boston via the Sudbury Aqueduct. Water from the Wachusett Reservoir could also flow through the new Sudbury Reservoir to the Weston Aqueduct.

During this period, Chestnut Hill Resrvoir was the hub of the system.

this is in Keene NH

located in Swanzey NH it is named Tompson Bridge and was built in 1832.

took this one on the way home today. It is on RtE. 78, even though it looks dark out it was only around 5:30 pm (thanks to day light savings time in New England) My girlfriend was standing next to the sign I thought the flash would have shown her. Hope this still counts

This is at the Orange Police Dept. to pay tribute to all K-9 units that have passed away.

this is a small part of it, they actually have different sections done, I think it is still in the process of being finished but with winter here who knows when it will get finished.

High Point in Sussex County NJ. Elevation is over 1800'. Got here doing virtual cache GC5A96 on a caching trip to PA/NY & NJ. It was freezing out temp was about 10 degrees but once we got to the tower the wind was blowing like crazy and I'm sure the wind chill was below zero.

found this marker while I was searching for another cache down in NJ/PA area

This was taken at Doanes Falls in Royalston MA. Most of the falls are fenced off as this used to be a popular place for kids to cool off, but after 3 or 4 drownings, theymade it illegal to go into the falls. This is a great hiking area though and a lot of locals still hike in the area.
