This was basically our last cache on our list of 5 for the day we wanted to find and the geokids were looking forward to this one because my geodaughter was dying to take a picture with the disposable camera. anyway we had no idea where we were and where this lookout was when we set out from "Whataview" to find it. so simply with no map we just punched in the co-ordinates in the dash of the 4WD drive it gives us a compass and a distance and we just drive the way the arrow says and keep picking roads/tracks that head where we want to go... we were having a ball.. anyway after being lost (in a fun way) and back tracking and 4WDing we found the main road to this one and wasnt long before the cache was in hand... but alass... the camera is gone. so we signed the log, the geokids left and retreived a few swaps.. and we were off to hang gliders launch that we couldent find earlyer that day. Thanks for the adventure. Team JEZES Smile

Smile This was our second cach of the day on our list, but once again, not being the best geo hunters around and being in a bit of a hurry when getting a list together of what we were after for the day we went about this the hard way, we started out on the wrong track and without any sort of real map of the watagans (only what we could get on the galaxy in between bad cloud coverage, very overcast day) we drove up the walking track as far as we could go (picked up "Take a moment" on the way) then started to walk to get to it. then realised we werent walking but climbing, only me and 2 of the geokids, started to wonder if it was actually worth it. any way, finally got to the top while wondering "how the hell do they carry hang gliders up this hill????? Nothing gets under your skin more when you climb a mountain then realise you could have drove their, and knowing you still have to climb back down LOL. So anyhow it was realy cloudy by now and with 2 GPS's we were getting only some signal and couldent realy find GZ it kept moving on us so we realy couldent narrow down the search area, and with rain thretening and two geokids and a climb back down a mountain again and we had checked out all the likely spots we abandoned this one till a later date when i decided we would look at a map an work out how to drive here and try again.... so we left. But later in the day (about 4 or 5 hours) and alot of adventure and getting lost and a lot of fun we found our self at "Freeze Frame" (the last cache on our list, and we found it by accident as well, but thats another story) we were finally getting better (not good signal because of rain on and off all day) and were sitting having a break at one of the tables and playing with the galaxy and brought up c:geo on the phone (best geo app ever) and realised we were only about a couple of km's from hang gliders launch... then put 2 and 2 together... this was the road.. so off we went... drove to the cache area got a good signal and cache was in hand after a quick search of a area we didnt go to before. thanks for the adventure. Team JEZES

This was about the 3rd on our list of 5 for the day we wanted to find, when we came to this one, with no map of the watagans and basically just driving by a compass on the GPS in th dash of the 4WD we came to the camping area, We set out on foot (only half of our crew were here this day , 2 geokids and myself) we wernt real prepared and hadn't realy read or understood the instuctions realy well. anyway we set out with a hand held GPS and a Galaxy phone and headed off along the creek. with vertually no GPS signal. This particular day was very overcast and had been raining on and off and we had had alot of rain over the last few moths in the Hunter (in fact the whole eastern half of Australia). we came to the top of a rather large waterfall and wern't sure if this was the first or second water fall from the description. as theirs was also two other waterfallish type areas we had seen but were small in comparrison to where we were (so my question was what constitutes a water fall???) Anyhow, we were at the best i could get on the GPS a elevation of 447m.. the cache is at 407m their for i had to climb down a 40m waterfall???. we already were covered in leaches and with the water flowing and everything being slippery and very wet and the jungle being sooo dense from all the good rain over the last few months and expecting to see a dinosaure wander out any minute... (not to mention the lantana), i made an executive decision to abandone this one till another day when i was a bit better prepared. (the geokids were more than happy to leave this one for now as they wernt very impressesd with how frendly the leaches were)... We will be back..

Smile With not a very good (no) working knowedge of the watagans and a bit of a faulse start, we started out on the wrong track (basically driving around at the bottom of the mountain instead of going up it) we finally found this one as we headed up to hangglinders launch. wasnt to hard once we realised our mistake (well one of our mistakes for the day) this was our first find for the day, out of 5 we set out to get, in the end the got 4, so thats not so bad we thought. TFTC. Team JEZES

Smile stumbled on this one with no GPS signal at all while drving in the car. Basically stopped at a lookout to get a Signal (cloud, Trees , etc,) and got a signel and realised this was where we wanted to be. Cache was soon in hand and we were off to try again at hang gliders launch that we had trouble with earlyer that day.. was getting late so we couldent spend alot of time taking in the scenery. Thanks. Team JEZES

Easy find at a place we take the kids to often. TFTC

Was not where it was ment to be. was definatly not down low or in a dark spot. This was our second time trying to get this one and all but given up when our Geomistress spotted it. Very Tricky. TFTC

Relatively easy Cache. after we drove up the wrong road first. lol. Took a coloured stone and left a marball. TFTC

A bit tricky. we wet to the acctual monument first. not all the information is on it. then we found the correct info not far from where we were. It was head scratching for a few minutes but then worked out our mistake. Was fun though. TFTC

Few muggles playing cricket but couldnt see what we were doing. Short walk from car park. Pretty easy to find. TFTC

Nearly gave up on this one because the mosquito's were ferocious. Found on the way out by our cute geo mistress. Look out for spiders. Pretty easy to find but not where we were initially looking.

Ok. we like others before us couldn't find this one. We had 2 attempts at this one. One afternoon without a GPS (we Know this park well as it is a short walk from our house) and a second attempt with all our team and 2 GPS's We searched every inch of this area and we mean searched. Im pretty sure its been removed. So it might need to be replaced. but we still had fun dodging the "Muggles" LOL

Big Grin Woo hoo. This was our first find, The Kids Became GeoKids Today and they are loving it. They cant stop now they wanted to keep going after we found 3 out of 4 in our first afternoon at it. This was our second attempt at this one after we couldent find it we went back to the computer and had to read the "Clues" again before we understood what we needed to do and came back again a few days later and got it. Great fun (And not just for the kids)

Our Third ever cach, also our second attempt at this one after not finding it without a GPS on a drive by. It wasn't where we thought it would be. Great fun nice views and close to home.

We Got it. This was in a way our second attempt at this one aswell after one half of our team tried this one (and a few others) as they were driving past after school one afternoon (but without a GPS) This is our second ever cach!
