Logs for WesternStars

04-Feb-12
Found the cache quickly, was well hidden and not noticable to passing muggles, had to wait for a few cars even though it was 2.30 am, seems mobile phones do come in handy even for fake calls, everything in order here. Took nothing. Left nothing. Signed logbook, many thanks to tackle_head Smile

Was an easy find as the name suggests, was dark so no muggles or cars around, this made it even easier to park next to GZ and find the cache which was well hidden, many thanks to kellyhaunts, Took Nothing. Left Nothing. Signed Logbook Smile

Found this cache quite easily, cache and log book in good condition, well hidden in a great spot, also glad that it was an easy find as it was 4.30 am, many thanks to Chewinprickles, another spot we have never visited but driven past many, many, many times Smile

Great little cache, found at night when nice and quiet, well camouflaged and an easy find if you know what you are looking for. Signed log, everything in order here, replaced as found, thanks to Kel279 for another little victory for our team.Smile

Great little cache, found very easily thanks to the clue, no walking at 5 am in the morining for which we were grateful for, it was also a great time to find this cache due to volume of traffic in location during the day, another interesting place to visit, thankyou to tackle_head for the cache and another small victory for us Smile TNLNSL (log book full)

03-Feb-12
Most unusual place that we never knew existed, went at night as did not like the thought of those cold blooded friends (hopefully asleep) on the warning sign at the beginning of the path, took a while of searching but eventually located the cache with no interuption from too many creepy crawlies, thankyou Robmc for a very interesting location and our first active cache find since 2003. Wooo Hooo Big Grin

16-Dec-03
We will be there!

Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year! Smile

19-Nov-03
Found at 4.45pm

We were lucky there were not many people around, had to wait a minute for some dog walkers and bike riders. Found GZ quick enough but had trouble locating the cache, searched for about 20 minutes but the heat got to us and we took shelter in the car for a few minutes and decided to have one more attempt before we gave up. A few moments later after searching high and low it was finally located.
Thanks Mr. Blobby for a very nice spot, at least the river was nice and cool as the younger WesternStars soon found out.
Took mitre10 toycar. Left stick on jewel earings.

16-Nov-03
Found at 3.26pm
After already having worked out all the clues on a previous attempt at this cache, (had to leave the park on instuction from the rangers, as it was closing time) we arrived at the last posted coordinate to find that there was a large contingency of people picnicing on this wonderful Sunday afternoon. GZ was not to far away and we were wondering if we would be able to retrieve the cache undetected as everywhere you looked there were more and more people, un deterred we decided that we would try, fortunately for us the site where the cache was located was deserted (unbelievable).
Took large Spoon and batteries. Left tea strainer and set of measuring spoons. Also left Norbert TB to enjoy the ocean view. Thanks maccamob for another easy find.

Found at 5.18pm
Found cache mostly uncovered, so not much searching was needed and luckily the cache was not in view of any visitors to the area, unless you knew what you were looking for. Replaced cache and made sure it was well hidden this time. There was no smell today, much to our relief as there was a cool breeze blowing.
Took white chalk. Left Harry Potter stickers. Thanks again Two + Four for another easy find.

Found at 4.18pm

Found after a peaceful and quiet walk, not a soul in sight compared with " A Cooks Tour " which was absolutley swarming with people picnicing and playing. An unusual structure and would never have known it was there, so another thankyou to Maccamob for introducing us to this wonderful spot with great views to melbourne.
Took $1.00 coin and 10c Honk Kong coin. Left white dice and seahorse toy.

Found at 5.40pm

Nice easy find, hardest part was finding the entrance to the park. Younger members of WesternStars were intrigued by all the rabbit activity on the other side of the creek, clap your hands and see them run, not 1 or 2 but many.
Took mini torch and car. Left set of two suction hooks. Thanks Two + Four for another find to add to our total.

Found at 2.15pm
Found in the company of Two + Four, Maccamob & Geojo. Its really amazing to find these little walks that normally unless you live in the area, you would have no reason to visit or even know they were there. Youngest WesterStars had fun looking at the local animals. Cache was found easily and swaps were made.
Took golf ball and left hair clip & lizard toy. Thanks to GeoJo for another find to add to our list.

Found at 12pm.

Always driving past this spot and never stopping. Didnt take long to find the cache, was hidden in the obvious place. Youngest WesternStars took the time to walk along the river and enjoy the scenery.

Found at 3.30pm
Found in the company of Two + Four, Maccamob and GeoJo.
A pleasant walk through some nice bushland until the heavens decided that our group needed a shower, then came the attack of the killer mosquitoes, depite these drawbacks the youngest members of the group had a great deal of fun searching for the cache which took a bit of time to locate but was found after a few trips around the same area.
Took a box of slides and left dolphin toy and bulldog clip.
Also took TB Norbert to try and help him find his way back to Germany. Thanks to GeoJo for a great location and find.

28-Sep-03
Found at 2.40pm
Parked on the wrong side of the river (of Course). Luckily the water was only knee high, the youngest members of the WesternStars took great delight in removing shoes and socks and going across to the other side. Crossed safely and soon found the path to the cache, searched for a while and kept drifting back to the most obvious place and finally found it. Thanks Maccamob for another pretty place with only the distant sound of motorbikes to break the peace. Took ladybug keyring and left bulldog clip and crocodile toy.

Found at 4.30pm
The etrex had a mind of its own again and kept jumping around, but after a few minutes searching the most obvious spots this tiny cache was found, a pretty place for a walk and a nice easy find. Thanks two + Four for another cache close to home and special thanks to Jenna. Big Grin

Found at 6.14pm
A pleasent walk across the footbridge, and a very nice park so close to the centre of town. gz was easily found and the cache retrieved as the place was deserted. Took deck of cards, left bulldogclip and toy shark. Thanks two + four for another cache so close to home and special thanks to Keryn. Big Grin

Found at 3.50pm
Who would have thought there was a cemetery out in the middle of nowhere. What an unusual place and some very old graves and some very new ones as well. gz was easily found and the youngest WesternStars had fun retrieving it, especially as there was a nest of baby birds in the same nook as the cache was in and they had to be careful not to disturb the babies. I suppose they thought we were their mother as the four of them had their beaks wide open for a feed, it was a wonderful sight. Took padlock & keyring, left hairclip and seal toy. Thanks two + four and especially Laura. Big Grin

Found at 4.15pm
Its unbelievable how quickly new estates appear, last time we were in the area there was a school in the middle of a paddock, now there are houses everywhere. Found the park and the playground easily, but gz was a bit harder as the gps had a mind of its own and the signal kept jumping around. Finally common sense took over and yes it was in the most obvious spot. Took pink pom pom ball and left bulldog clip and 2 dice. Thanks two + four and especially
Mason. Big Grin

Found at 4.45pm
Second attempt at this cache finally gave us success. First time round we were hampered by a fisherman who would not move, but then again i suppose he was there first. The foliage around didn't like us, but we continued searching despite the constant prickles, all to no avail as the cache was not in the place we thought it was. The youngest WesternStar found it where we were not searching, luckily for us. Took blue bouncy ball and letter opener, left Silver bracelet. Thanks to Maccamob for another interesting location and fun find despite the injury toll. Big Grin

Found at 2.59pm
After a nice paddle in the river to get to the other side, we found gz but had to wait to retrieve the cache as there was plenty of motorbike activity on this beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon. Finally retrieved the cache and quickly replaced it while another WesternStar used the mobile phone trick with the etrex just in case anyone could see us. Thanks Mr Blobby for another side of an interesting place.
Took address book and left 2 hairclips.

11-Aug-03
Found at 4.50pm
A quick and easy find. Just as well, as time was ticking away, we thought we may get locked in as the gates shut at 5 pm. Luckily for us the place was deserted and we were able to retrieve and replace the cache fairly quickly without being seen. Took packet of seeds left pot hanger garden gnome. Thanks GeoJo for a nice walk and pleasant location.

10-Aug-03
Found at 1.55pm
Great walk and fantastic views, hard to imagine that your in suburbia. Found GZ very quickly but couldn't do a thing about it because various groups of people were everywhere due to the sunny Sunday it was. Waited for about 40 minutes whilst younger WesternStars enjoyed the area and finally we were rewarded, quickly retrieved the cache and replaced before anyone else arrived, great place for a barbecue and a nice day out. Took NZ keyring and left 2 dinosaur toys. Thanks Maccamob for our third cache of the day.

Found 1.15pm
Arrived at this pretty spot and found right area within minutes, searched for about 20 minutes and couldn't find cache, had to be careful as it was a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon and there were a few people out walking dogs and in their front gardens. Decided to take a break for five minutes and sit a few metres away till everyone disappeared. While i was gazing around at the ducks and other water birds, i happened to look down and couldn't believe what i saw, it was there right next to me, retrieved it quickly before any onlookers saw. Took matchbox car Left kangaroo coaster, hairclip, pink fish and big paperclip. Many thanks to Maccamob for another wonderful area to visit.

Found at 12.05 pm
An easy find for us, didn't stop to find the South Base Stone as the younger members of the WesternStars were eager to get to the next cache. Will come back another time to look for the stone minus the younger members. No one in sight so was able to collect the cache and replace before being detected. Thanks Maccamob another great opportunity close to home, Took stickers, left sting ray toy and toy disc.

09-Aug-03
Found at 3.20 pm.
Parked very close to GZ and youngest WesternStar (8)found cache within minutes, took nothing, left nothing, signed log. Thanks Two+Four for an interesting spot, we had no idea existed so close to home, will return when open.

Found at 4.40pm
Finally after 2 visits in one day and extended help, found cache in area we hadn't looked in, so close to where we had been searching thoroughly, GZ showed we were right on top of the cache. Today the island WAS an island and we had to remove socks, shoes and roll up jeans, not once but 4 times in 2 visits, Younger WesternStars alway love adventure and barefoot,in freezing water, in the middle of winter, was a piece of cake for them and a lot of fun getting wet through, even more fun when the cache was found and 12 year old male WesternStar got to chose what to swap. Took Harry Potter keyring and Left whale toy and plastic paper clip, thanks again Maccamob for a great cache and extra help.

Found at 1.50 pm.
Was a wondeful day for a walk and the scenery was pretty, ducks swimming in the river added to the enjoyment of the walk. Found GZ quickly and had to wait while a few people went by with their dogs and children. Took star stickers and left koala coaster. Thanks Maccamob for another easy and fun cache.

08-Aug-03
Found at 5.25pm.
Took a walk down the nature trail, but alas the heavens decided to open on us, by the time we reached GZ we were all soaked and what we thought was GZ wasn't at all. After heading back to the car we decided to give it one more go, and approaching from a different angle, perserverence paid off when 12 year old Westernstar claimed that he had found the cache, and of course he had! Took nailpolish as it was his sisters turn to choose an item, and left hair comb and Harry Potter stickers, thanks again maccamob for all your help.

After much experimenting with the etrex and finally discovering its secrets, we headed for the Presidents Dog. What an amazing experience! This is the first Cache found by the WesternStars, and we were very excited when we found it. Many thanks to Maccamob for introducing us to Geocaching and helping us to get started, could never have done it without you.
