Logs for clover3

18-Feb-19
Another revisit to a cache location I've been to before! Found this one with no problem, although things were pretty damp logwise. Did the best I could signing/replacing. TFTC!

20-Apr-12
Logging this one quite late. Last cache found on the last full day of a nearly three-month trip around NZ and Australia. Glad to have spent it walking along the coastline of the Western suburbs of Sydney; it's really a beautiful area and quite unlike downtown. I also felt lucky to have some sun after several days of clouds and rain. Between this and a prior trip I feel like I've seen a good bit of Australia now . . . by no means all of it, but more than a lot of folks from other countries. It's really a unique country and continent, stunning in places, unsettling in others, but filled with friendly people. Goodbye for now, hope to see you again soon--and thanks for the cache!

31-Mar-12
Logging this one quite late. Adelaide . . . beginning of the last leg of a long tour around NZ and Australia. I quite liked the city, although it honestly felt much bigger than I was expecting. The views from the river are fascinating. Glad to have logged a cache here . . . TFTC!

20-Mar-12
Logging this one quite late. Adelaide and Glenelg were very enjoyable stops on my tour around southern and eastern Australia. On a nice sunny day especially, the oceanfront here was quite appealing. Thanks for the cache!

18-Mar-12
Logging this one quite late. The Grampians in general, and Mount Zero in particular, are really striking, the way they rise up out of the otherwise-flat landscape. I loved driving and hiking through the park, and found the Mount Zero hike to be one of the highlights. Took a bit of scrambling/thought to actually get to the cache. Thanks for placing it here!

13-Mar-12
Logging this one quite late . . . so late in fact that it appears to be gone! A pity, but it was an interesting find while it was around. I'm glad to have seen this neighborhood; it gave me a better sense of Melbourne's diversity than I saw on my prior visit to the city. Thanks for the cache!

11-Mar-12
Logging this one quite late. The gardens here are really pretty neat (especially on a sunny day), and the Volcano is an especially unusual/interesting feature! Finding the cache was a little tricky with all the muggles about, but it turned up in the end. TFTC!

06-Mar-12
Logging this one quite late. What an interesting experience to come across the civility of Strahan amid the otherwise-wild West coast of Tasmania. A very enjoyable stroll through the park to the waterfall. Honestly I got a bit confused by the description of the location, and my GPS wasn't as helpful as it might have been, so it took me some time to find the cache . . . but it was satisfying to turn it up at last. TFTC!

04-Mar-12
Logging this one quite late. Penguin turned out to be an unexpectedly charming stop on a trip round the island, so much so that I ended up returning here later in the day to spend the night. It was only mildly disappointing that penguins themselves didn't show up in the evening; I tried to get intel from the locals as to the best spot to see them, but no luck. In any event, TFTC!

02-Mar-12
Logging this one quite late. Okay, on an overcast day, the view from this modest "mountain" was not quite up to the grandiose standards of some of the other panoramas in Tasmania, but it was still an enjoyable hike and satisfying to get to the top. TFTC!

29-Feb-12
Logging this one quite late. The bay and the beach are really as beautiful as reputation makes them out to be; I'm so glad I decided to make the park a stopping point on my trip around Tasmania. TFTC!

Logging this one quite late. Holy cow, some really jaw-dropping views from this spot. Thanks very much for placing a cache here!

Logging this one quite late. Definitely a sense of achievement to make it up here (in this case, on my return journey from the beach) and enjoy the views from the nearby overlook. Thanks for placing a cache in this lovely location.

27-Feb-12
Logging this one quite late. Thanks for a nice stopoff on the drive to the Tasman Peninsula . . . a chance to stretch my legs, have a bite to eat, and find a cache! TFTC.

Logging this one quite late. Little did I realize when I stopped here that I would be spending the next two nights at the nearby Lufra hotel . . . I guess the spectacular view drew me in enough that I wanted to stay. The pavement itself is quite interesting; I've never seen geological formations quite like it. I lucked out with the tides, fortunately. TFTC!

26-Feb-12
Logging this one quite late. Actually I see that the cache has disappeared, and I may have been the last one to find it! A shame that it's gone. In any event, no regrets about caching around the beautiful Bruny island. TFTC!

25-Feb-12
Logging this one quite late. I've seen plenty of lighthouses, but this one is among the most beautiful I can recall due to its stunning setting. I'm glad I spent the extra time on Bruny (after doing the Aquatic Adventure) to visit this part of the island, see the lighthouse, camp at Jetty Beach, and hike the trail around the Labillardiere Peninsula. TFTC!

24-Feb-12
Logging this one quite late. A nice spot to find a cache while returning from an aquatic adventure on a beautiful day! I actually missed the spot from the road the first time around due to traffic and windy roads, but got there eventually. TFTC!

23-Feb-12
With the CO's kind permission, I am logging this find (belatedly) based on my recollection of finding it and signing the log. A day of mixed rain and wind atop Mt. Wellington, but after being deposited at the peak and finding the cache, I decided to press on and hike down the mountain. A good idea: I was eventually rewarded with some sunshine and clear views of Hobart, the harbor, and the surrounding landscape. Very pretty! The "organ pipe" rocks are quite striking. TFTC!

22-Feb-12
Logging this one quite late. The walk here from Wrest Point turned out to be quite pleasant, giving me a sense of everyday life in this spot down under down-under. The cache itself required a bit of searching to find the right altitude, but that's okay. I've been to many sites like these in other parts of the world and always find them interesting. TFTC!

21-Feb-12
Logging this one quite late. Honestly I did not know exactly what to expect of Tasmania . . . it's always been sort of a blank spot on the map, conjuring up little other than the Devils. I'm really happy my travels took me here! Beautiful landscapes, friendly people, a bit of history, a share of culture, all good. This particular spot, in addition to nice views on a sunny day, evokes some interesting history explored in more depth in the nearby museum. Also near good spots for fish & chips, including Mako (where I ate twice!). TFTC!

19-Feb-12
Logging this one quite late. What a sobering but interesting experience to visit Christchurch after the earthquakes, having seen it once beforehand. Nothing can really make up for the tragedy, but it was at least somewhat comforting to see how the city's residents have adjusted, and to see that there are areas of beauty, like the botanical gardens, that remain as beautiful as ever. Finding this cache proved to be a logistical challenge because of fences and muggles. How nice to meet RAYNSLV looking for the same thing! TFTC.

18-Feb-12
Logging this one quite late. I'm so glad I decided to take a detour in my trip to visit Mt. Cook; I'd call it an awe-inspiring sight. I love the way the landscape constantly changed depending on the time of day and the cloud cover. The intense blue of the glacial lakes as you travel up the valley is also spectacular. Took a little while to hone in on this cache, but glad to have logged one here. TFTC!

17-Feb-12
Spent more time than I like to admit looking for this one and it just didn't turn up. Oh well, the views from the lookout, and the amazing experience of visiting Stewart Island, were more than enough to compensate!

13-Feb-12
Logging this one quite late. Seeing this beautiful stretch of beach on a sunny day was a great experience . . . I'm glad the cache gave me a reason to linger here! TFTC.

Logging this one quite late. Really an interesting location--one of many beautiful spots in this part of the world. I've seen images of those windswept trees in various spots and it's cool to be able to think "I know that spot; I've been there!" TFTC!

12-Feb-12
Logging this one quite late. Wow, this is really a spectacular setting . . . a wonderful gateway into the amazingly beautiful Catlins region. It took quite some time to snag the cache, given the many many muggles and the long sight lines to the area, but it felt like an achievement to finally put my hands on the log. Thanks for this well-placed cache!

11-Feb-12
Logging this one quite late. It was really interesting to get up out of the city and into the hills; some very beautiful views. This one took me a while to find, but turned up in the end. TFTC!

Logging this one quite late. Dunedin is definitely charming (when the sun's out) and it was definitely nice to find this cache near some of the beautiful architecture. TFTC!

Logging this one quite late. Nice spot in an interesting city--some real hills you've got here (probably good for staying fit!). TFTC!

10-Feb-12
Logging this one quite late. After a couple of cloudy days, the sun peeked out just as I stopped here, making the visit to the boulders (dragon eggs!) extra special. TFTC!

I'm logging this one quite late. This was my first cache on a 3-month tour around NZ and Australia. Oamaru is such a nice town . . . I made it a point to stop on my drive to Dunedin, have lunch at the Whitestone Cheese Factory, and find a cache. TFTC!

01-Oct-09
Right where it was supposed to be, although my slightly wayward GPS took me walking up and down a few times before things settled down. Left signature item, took nothing. TFTC!

The paths around this part of Hong Kong look really nice. I wish I'd had a couple more days in the city to hike them! The hint made this one fairly easy to find, although waiting out the muggle traffic took a little time. Took nothing, left signature item. TFTC!

10-Jul-09
Approaching GZ, I thought the cache was going to be in a different location . . . but this one is probably more sensible. Second find in the series today. TFTC!

Started the series here because I happened to be in the neighborhood, then ended up tackling most of the others. A Friday afternoon turned out to be a pretty good time for it; some muggles about, but not a ridiculous amount. Overall, great series!

25-May-09
Mmmmm, pointy! Nice hide, perfect for a quick grab. Thanks!

Roos were hiding in part of the park I didn't get to until after finding the cache. Really fun to watch though! And great bird life in the park here. Very nice spot for a cache, good hide too, thanks.

24-May-09
Okay, this is bizarre! I found a cache today, and the GPS coords were spot-on (although it was well hidden), but it looks nothing like the cache that was found and photographed yesterday!! And it contained totally different items!! I think maybe an old cache is still there? If so, the new cache looks much better, I would vote for transferring the usable items to the new container (minus the trache) and retiring the old one, the mouth of which is currently sealed with a rubber glove. Like the park though!

A beautiful Sunday afternoon, so of course the muggles were out in force. Still, a pleasure to be here today!

Not only was this a great spot to see Fremantle on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, this has to be one of the best camo jobs I've ever seen! Bravo!!

23-May-09
A really fun multi. I am a big fan of the "hiding in plain sight" type of urban cache and this is a great example!! The second waypoint took me a while, my instincts guided me straight to the hiding spot but I failed to spot it, and spent quite a while investigating the surroundings. The logs gave me the nudge I needed. Left signature item, took nothing.

An enjoyable stroll through an area of Perth I probably wouldn't have explored otherwise. A great opportunity to see some of the local bird life too. Strolled right up to the first waypoint, but ended up taking a more circuitous route to the final. *&^%# GPS was wandering all over the place, so it took me a little while to put my hands on the final container, but got it eventually. Took nothing, left signature item. Thanks for a great cache!

Honestly, I don't know why this one gave me such a hard time, as I have seen this type of hide before. Satisfying to finally spot it though! A busy spot on a Saturday, and a nice stop on a combination cache run/wander through the city. Thanks!

18-May-09
Glad to see a physical cache in this area, otherwise so empty! Perhaps we should caution future cachers to be careful around the spiky spinifex grass in the area, don't just plunge your hands in. I was told by a guide that the points can break off under the skin and lead to unpleasant consequences . . . But overall a delightful area (don't miss the Olgas/Kata Tjuta), a nice spot for a cache. Took black dog TB, left signature item. TFTC!

16-May-09
Easy find, but replacing the cache took a while, with a constant stream of muggles parking, gawking, and moving on. Well, except one couple who decided to take their sweet time (why does that always happen when you've got the cache in your hands??). Swapped signature item for an appropriate similar item. Saw no trackables, however, if I recall accurately.

Sorry to say I couldn't put my hands on this one, it was getting late in the day, my GPS signal was bouncing all over the place, and my "cache sense" just didn't take me to the container. Oh well, the tree is absolutely spectacular, so I can't call it a wasted trip!

Great views from here today, and the weather was just perfect--warm but not too warm, and not too humid!

Constant stream of muggles coming and going today, in the end just couldn't find an unobserved moment to search for the cache. Too bad! Also, the longer hike in this area was closed today, a bit of a disappointment. Still, a pretty area, glad to have seen it.

Beautiful day to be out here! Lots of locals, not so scantily clad though, more intent on plucking fishies out of the brine. Obtaining and replacing the cache took a bit of patience. Left signature item. Thanks for the cache!
