Logs for dabs01

Passing by to knock this one off my list and to drop off a geocoin that I had misplaced some time ago and recently found.
Cache container was large enough to take the coin SL. TFTC.

18-Jun-09
FTF @ 2:00pm. Took a while before foot traffic quietened down enough to be able to retrieve the cache. Even before I was able to retrieve it there was someone who made a beeline to the general area and then sat in the right location, and I was wondering if this was another geocacher or not.
I was finally able to get it. Replacing it was another problem altogether. Lots more people milling around. Is that person behind me using his phone or the inbuilt GPS? A large truck had pulled up and the driver looked like he was watching me. The cache hide was in his direct line of sight, so after 15 minutes couldn't take the risk of being spotted trying to return it to it's hiding spot. Also had to get back to work, so I had to take the cache with me (sorry). I will get it back very soon - after work, hopefully as it's getting dark. Will update the log again shortly. TCLN.

Cache safely returned @ 5:30pm.
In - eraser, Out - nothing

07-Jun-09
Found it on a rainy afternoon. Went over, but also went under a couple of times. TFTC

Was quite busy here today, there was a ute and hot rod show happening @ Alexandra and it looks like quite a few visitors were stopping here on their way home. TNLN TFTC.

Found on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Left geocoin, sudoku game and a few other trinkets. TFTC.

Found it on a rainy afternoon. Have been indisposed for a while, good to get back into it.

A bit slippery here today - but the cache was still quickly in hand. Couldn't work out the magnet part of the clue though. TFTC.

04-Nov-08
Dropped off TB while taking the kids for a ride to Collingwood Children's Farm.

Found this some time ago but forgot to log the find. Stopped by again on the way to the Children's Farm to drop off a TB which I'd kept a little too long. TNTFTC.

17-Aug-08
We completed this multi just as it was getting dark. As we had no swaps with us we TNLNSL. TFTC Alsume.
(By the way checked for the Kiwi Bottle-O TB, but it was not in the cache)

11-Aug-08
STF - Found 11/8/08 @ 1:15. The weather was nice enough for a lunchtime walk, so I decided to mark this one off my list. Had the location worked out on Friday night, but was not able to get in any sooner. It was reasonably busy but in between traffic, with sleight of hand (and long sleeves), I was able to retreive and replace the cache. TNLNSL. TFTC Alansee.
(First time I have seen a 'container' like this used)

09-Aug-08
Found on the way home home from GeoKate's basketball game. Great hide - it looked "real". TFTC
T - Geocoin
L - Commonwealth Games Badge

Wasn't too sure what to expect with this one. GeoKate and I stopped off for this one on the way back from her basketball game. This cache was on the way back to the car from another nearby cache. There were many spots in the vicinity that resembled the clue, but we found it almost straight away. Left Commonwealth Games Badge. TFTC.

Although it was a nice day the tracks were very slippery and waterlogged in places from the rain the day before. It also took us a little while to find this one as our GPS was all over the place, but eventually got it. Some interesting maps in there. TNLN TFTC.

27-Jul-08
Found @ 11:50PM. Easily retrieved and replaced under cover of darkness. Out - GC LNSL TFTC.

26-Jul-08
Found on the way back home from GeoKate's basketball game.
Seems there is only one easy way in. We had to retrace our steps back to the cache and come out the way we came in after trying to find a shortcut back.

Wooo Hooo - my second FTF - and both this week.
Saw this one pop up at lunchtime at work. Started planning to get home early and see if I could fit it in before dark, but didn't really expect to get FTF considering it was the last day of the school holidays.
Parked the car and started off just as it was getting dark, but it didn't take long to get to GZ. Took a little while to locate the pump in the fading daylight. It's right off the track and a great find - I wonder how many people have walked past this relic not knowing it is there?
As it was now reasonably dark and I resorted to the hint and the cache was soon found by torchlight (5:35pm). On opening the cache and seeing how neatly it was packed - I knew I was the first.
Took the stubby holder and the TB's. Left Commonwealth Games Badge, another foreign coin and RooBoy's Aussie Geocoin.
Thanks for the cache johnny_mud - I will be back to have another good look at this one during daylight hours.

Dropped off Geocoin

2nd cache for the day having just completed What's that Skip?
Had a couple of attempts at the arithmetic before I thought I had it right - and even then wasn't sure. WP 2 had me trudging through the paddocks once again and I'm sure I ran into the same kangaroos that I saw at the previous cache.
Was relieved when I finally found WP2 and then on to the cache.
TNSL, but left a geocoin and a few odds and ends.
TFTC Homerjay73

No. 4 for the day and my third homerjay73 cache. All went ok - just had to keep an eye on the muggle mowing the grass in the park. left Commonwealth Games badge. TNSL TFTC.

Not too far from one I had just completed so had to stop in for this one. TN but left a few toys/trinkets.
TFTC Homerjay73.

No. 6 and last one for the day thankfully. I had just about made it back to the car from the previous cache and realized that I had to return the way I came to get to this one - so back down the hill again. If I complained about the climbs for the previous cache, well the same goes for this one - I was puffing just as hard. Anyway the cache was found easily - and I did enjoy the stroll through the area. TNLNSL TFTC Muzza.

No. 5 for the day. What goes down has to come up again, and I was puffing after this one. But the day was not yet over......
TN Left Commonwealth Games Badge SL TFTC.

Wooo Hooo - my first FTF.
It was drizzling on and off as I parked the car for this cache , and I was wondering if I'd left my run too late - this was my first of 6 attempts for the day.
I saw the kangaroo cut-outs on the siding outside the park and thought they were the ones pocketrocket&friends was referring to, but as I got nearer to the cache about 15-20 heads were raised from feeding in the long grass and watched me approaching before hopping away. Good thing too, as a couple of them looked like they were at least 6 feet tall and I was getting a little anxious.
Anyway the cache was in hand @ 11:45. Took TB FireFrog69 and left TB Alberta Kangaroo as I thought it appropriate for this cache.
TFTC pocketrocket&friends.
PS - also left a pen as there wasn't one in the cache Smile

04-Jul-08
Stopped by while attempting Laneway Lunacy over lunchtime. It was lunacy as it took wayyyy to long to get back into the city from here. Easily found and retrieved, even though there were a few muggles about. SLTFTC

29-Jun-08
I've ridden past this location nearly every Sunday morning for the last year or so, but it was not till today that I was able to manage a stop to look for the cache. Going by the logs, I think that I really wanted to get a few more finds under my belt before attempting this one. Looking back this one reminded me a little of a now archived cache by chefs on the run that I found almost a year ago. TNLNSL.TFTC maccamob.

27-Jun-08
A pleasant afternoon for a walk. A cache that's easy to get to and replace. TNLN SL TFTC.

22-Jun-08
Found on a pleasant Sunday afternoon. Should have found it faster than I did, but it was quite a while since the last find and nature has a way of adding camouflage. Left Commonwealth Games Badge. TFTC.

Fairly easy find - last cache for the day. Amazing how much will fit into a container that size... Left a coin for the kids and a Commonwealth Games Badge. TFTC

Nice crafty hide. Amazing how much will fit into a small container. Left Commonwealth Games Badge and a Geocoin I'd been looking after for a while. TFTC.

21-Jun-08
Found this afternoon in between errands. Dropped off some toys and picked up the geocoin. The container had a small amount of water in it which I drained - contents might be slightly damp but the log was reasonably dry. TFTC.

Found on a cold and windy afternoon. Path was very slippery walking in - glad I wasn't riding. TFTC

19-Jun-08
Found while on a lunchtime walk.
Out - TB. LNSL

08-Jun-08
Found today on the way home - after a long search. Had to move around a lot of leaves and other debris. The cache contents are wet - I emptied out the water in the container - but the log is relatively dry. TNLN TFTC.

Lot's of bike traffic, but still fairly easy to retrieve. Left Commonwealth Games badge TNSL TFTC.

Found this afternoon while out with the kids. Nicely camouflaged cache. TNLN SLTFTC.

Last find for the day, just as it was getting dark. TFTC

05-Jun-08
Turned up late this afternoon with some swaps hoping to log my first FTF. GPS was showing accuracy to within 5 metres and I had several approaches at GZ, but everytime it was leading me precariously close to the railway tracks. In the end I left, as it was afternoon peak and quite a few trains were going by and I was also getting some strange looks.

I googled the co-ordinates later, and the satellite image confirmed the location that I thought it may be located at, and that my GPS was fairly spot on. Also it seemed to be the only place that seemed a likely location for a cache.

Could you re-check the listed co-ordinates? If they are correct, then the location may need to be changed for safety sake. (There have been too many accidents involving trains recently).

Another lunchtime stroll, another cache - and a place I would not have known was there. Took TB, left Commonwealth Games badge. TFTC Alansee.

01-Jun-08
Finally found it. Had been through here looking for it a few times, but actually got it today. So obvious - it's a sneaky hide TNLNSL TFTC.

Finally got around to doing this one with the kids. Amazed at all the kangaroos that were out feeding on the way to the cache. Took pathtag LNSL TFTC.

30-May-08
Found while out on a lunchtime walk today. No TB's in the cache - TN Left 2006 Commonwealth Games Badge. TFTC

Fairly quiet this afternoon while out for a lunchtime walk, so cache was easy to get to. Just enough room to drop in 2006 Commonwealth Games pin. TFTC.

08-Sep-07
Found @ 11:20am after wandering around trying to find the right entry point. Walked straight past the right gate on the way in but it didn't register until some time later when we retraced our steps. Good location well out of sight of muggles. Left UFO TB, slinky, Commonwealth games badge and some pirate treasure and took mondo figure. SLTFTC.

Found @ 10:15 - A nice easy find to start off the day, although the kids were a little worried of encountering a snake. No snakes - just a few muggles. Left TB, Commonwealth Games badge and pirate treasure, TFTC.
