Logs for beltsfam

05-Oct-24
On a steamy afternoon in Waratah Bay we came to find a cache or two. Unfortunately the first one was missing and this one, whilst still in position, is completely saturated. The lid had either blown off or been left off and there was water in the tub, soaking everything in there. Obviously we couldnt sign the logbook and the cache is in need of maintenance! Thank you for placing a cache and introducing us to this part of the local National Park. Great views on the way to the cache too!

03-Oct-24
A beautiful October spring day for finding caches at this stunning part of Victoria. A lot of stealth required due to a high muggle area but having kids mean you often stop at odd places and look suspicious regardless of your activities. TFTC!

On a beautiful, sunny October day, we ventured down here for the day to explore and find a cache or two. What a magical spot for a cache! Thank you for making us stop off the track for this cache. We may not have noticed the seat had the cache not been here. Love the previous log that suggested small children may be required for this cache. We dutifully sent the kids to find this one TFTC

30-Sep-24
Came down for the Screw Creek Nature Walk while staying nearby in Inverloch. An easy find. The logbook is too full to log our names and its damp anyway. Took a picture for proof because we couldnt sign the log. TFTC

01-Sep-24
Here for a family birthday and very pleased to see a cache nearby. A bit too cold and windy today to worry about muggles so cache quickly in hand and logged. TFTC

23-Aug-24
Well that was fun! Got the calculation pretty easily but weve never done a cache with a projection angle before. Thought we could head off in a direction that was approximately correct. Guess what?? It was completely INCORRECT! 13 year old Geoson knows more about orienteering than I do and he set us straight. Found the treasure and enjoyed the location. Thanks for a great cache. A heart from us!

What a lovely park! The grevillea is in flower but no watlle birds spies today. An easy find which always makes you feel good!! TFTC

A nice day for some geocaching in the area. Found this one easily. Going back through the logs, it appears the hide is less camouflaged than perhaps it used to be? No mind, we still enjoyed the find. TFTC.

Curriculum days are the best geocaching days! And its a lovely sunny day to boot. Found the cache easily. Geoson had no issue with the clip. TFTC.

I love a cache hidden like this. Something that WE know is a cache but to everyone else looks like something else. Easily found the cache. No muggles springing us. Nice new logbook in good condition even though the lid was a bit wet. TFTC.

An easy find although we got absolutely spotted by the neighbours who clearly thought we were up to no good! Oops!! Thanks for the cache. Could use a new log book.

07-Jul-24
Travelling home from a family holiday and needed a pit stop. Love being able to find a cache whilst stretching the legs. TFTC

06-Jul-24
Spent a fair chunk of time here looking in the wrong place. Once we realised where to look and put our geocaching brains on, we quickly had it in hand. Great cache! Loved the challenge of thinking outside the box. TFTC.

03-Jul-24
On a beautiful, sunny winters day we came here on our way out of Beechworth. A fun place to scramble over rocks while taking in the beautiful falls. TFTC.

18-Apr-24
Geohusband and I used to live really close to this reserve and I would pass it all the time but Ive never been in. Geoson and I have come on a day the reserve is open so weve combined logging this cache and walk through the reserve. TFTC!

This cache turned from frustrating to almost giving up to oh, but of course once we found it. Awesome camo. Although I do agree once you spot it, it doesnt quite look like it belongs. Love it! TFTC

We absolutely love the noise of the Pobblebonk frogs but, sadly, none were singing their tunes today. Enough water in the pond to make me wonder if we were going home muddy today! Fortunately we came out clean. TFTC and for bringing us to this lovely park.

This one was little more off the track than we first thought! Going back through all the logs helped us out immensely here. Pretty sure some muggles thought Geo-son and I were up to no good. Haha! TFTC!

Have absolutely loved learning about this small part of local history. Not sure Id be keen on living in one of those 7 houses!! Found the co-ordinates, a quick drive and we had the cache in hand fairly easily. Quite a few dog walking muggles though! TFTC

27-Feb-24
Second time trying to find this cache and second unsuccessful attempt. Looks like the first time we were here it was missing. Think this time we just cant see it. So sad to be logging a DNF again. Well be back!!

21-Dec-23
Out for the day visiting this lovely country town. Appreciate the history of the town and this fun cache. Introduced my sister and her kids to the fun of geocaching. What a great first cache for them. TFTC

13-Dec-23
Another fantastic OSHFAM cache! Youre always so creative and this was no exception. A fun and informative adventure lab around Mordi and finished with this themed cache. Thanks for giving myself and Geoson a fun morning out!

24-Aug-23
It’s a beautiful late-Winter’s day for caching. The sun is shining. Geoson had the day off school. And thank goodness he did because he found it quickly!! Loved the camo. Log book needs replacing. I had to sign inside the front cover. TFTC.

Geoson and I came looking for this cache in May this year. We had a fun time solving the puzzle and then headed out to find the cache. We were so confident we had our coordinates right but when we got to GZ, we were lost. It was so overgrown it was hard to even see our feet. We hunted for what seemed like forever and finally decided to message the CO for some help. Turns out, we did have our coordinates right but we had already moved on so we saved this up for another day to revisit. It has taken us three months to come back but today was the day! Even with the CO help, we struggled for a bit because it’s still quite weedy. Not as overgrown as last time but the cache was still well covered. Very grateful for the help. And now we get to log our find. Yay!!! TFTC

Loved the construction of this cache and how it was all hidden. Amazing!! Thanks for the adventure.

A few maintenance notes - the retrieval/replacement mechanism is not working properly whatsoever and needs urgent attention. Further, the ‘bomb’ was unable to be opened by us, nor the people before us. Strong geohusband was not able to make it budge. Not even a little bit. Log not signed. Photo for evidence.

Thanks for your cache. It was still super fun and we’re giving it a heart.

I’ve walked Karkarook Park many times but have never ventured on to the walking track outside of the park. Thanks for introducing us to a new walk. Log book is a bit damp. Singable but not in the best condition. TFTC

The cache has moved slightly (love the note on the tree) and seems so obvious at first!! But as per the description, it’s not as easy as it looks. I was also worried about upsetting some birds because it looks like some have made this their residence. Needn’t have worried, no one was actually home. Retrieved the cache with an ‘ah-ha’ moment and very pleased to add our own love heart on this one. TFTC

Wow - I’m sure this cache is challenging when it’s dry but it’s even more challenging when it’s wet. There was even a little creek of running water nearby!! We weren’t going to let that deter us so Geoson went under. The lock was challenging and took several goes but we finally had Trevor in hand. Sadly the log is saturated - all the logs are drowned and there is no chance of us being able to sign it. I don’t have anything with me to replace it, sorry. Thank you for the fun and the challenge my son is going home with wet hair and a dirty t-shirt! TFTC

Came to the park for some caching on a sunny late-Winter’s day. The good old “geokid on the shoulders” trick worked wonders here. TFTC

10-Jul-23
We were not expecting such a CUTE container! Thank you for placing this cache. This is our first ‘Side Tracked’ cache.

Wow!!! Love this cache so much. Finding the clues was challenging but not in a frustrating way. The lift is amazing!!! I would never have gone in there except to find the clues. Geoson and I took it up and then down again whilst we collected clues. We may have come out slightly dizzy!! Got all our checked calculations correct. Yay! Worked out the final clue and we were so disappointed when we had to ask the librarian for help. I was so sure we had it correct - and we did. We had even been in the right area but had been facing the wrong way. No matter, got the cache, signed the book and got an awesome stamp. Gave a favourite because it was so fun. Thank you so much for your cache.

02-Jul-23
This is find 100 for our family!!!! Had a nice winter jaunt along the Patterson River after parking on the other side of Wells Road. Geohusband interpreted the clue quite quickly and we had the cache in hand not long after. Kids had a fun time going down the slide. Thanks for your cache

22-May-23
A nice quick find for us on a student free day from school. We are regulars to Southland but have never ventured to this far corner. TFTC!

On a chilly but clear Monday morning, geo-son - who had a day off from school - and I came out for a day of caching. Have been to the kids playground many times but had never ventured up the path to the war memorial. Thanks for introducing us to something new! Got the co-ordinates and geo-son found the cache quite easily. He was far more prepared to get dirty on the wet log than I was. Thanks for the cache! Off to the playground for a go on the flying fox…..

As regulars to Southland, you’d think we’d have nabbed this one before! No matter, today was the day. A fun find at our favourite shopping centre. A good place to park close to the door too! TFTC

24-Apr-23
This cache had eluded us previously but this glorious sunny Autumn day gave us the time we needed to find the cache. As per previous notes, the log book is very damp and could do with replacing. TFTC

Geoson is a mad tree climber at the best of times so what better cache to attempt on his curriculum day! Thanks to the tips below we sent Geoson up to rustle around and we soon we had the cache in hand. Took a little longer than we thought it would but you should always bring your patience when geocaching

A beautiful day for a stroll along the pier. Geoson had the day off school so thought we’d nab this cache as a special thing to do today. Answers sent through to CO. Thanks for this cache!

15-Apr-23
After visiting the Euroa Farmers market we stopped by the falls with the family. Lovely spot. A very mild autumn day with some people even having a swim! Not us, except for the geokid that fell in!! Grateful to have a cache to find while we were here. TFTC.

04-Sep-22
Out for a Fathers Day walk around the wetlands. Needed a cache to get the kids incentivised to come. Thanks for the fairly easy find. It’s made our day!

24-Jul-22
Out Mornington-way for a footy match on a bright Sunday afternoon. Pretty happy to find a cache nearby. Easily found and logbook signed. Will hopefully be back down here to find the rest in the series. TFTC.

14-Jul-22
The last few logs have been DNFs but we weren’t going to let that deter us. If the co-ords are correct it can only be one tree (which seems to be growing poorly) and, sadly, we have had to add to the DNFs for this cache. We checked some of the other trees/bushes just in case but still no luck. This is a local one for us so we’ll be back for another try.

Although it’s a micro it was an easy find for us today. TFTC.

Haven’t been caching in AGES! Geo-son and I started to think we weren’t going to find it. It was closing in on lunch time. Would our hungry tummies get the better of us?! One last read through the logs and we remained determined to find this one. Co-ords on point. Cache found. Off to get lunch! Thanks for the cache and congratulations on grandchild number 6 who must be almost a toddler now?

19-Apr-22
We looked and looked and then looked again. It just wasn’t happening for us today.

18-Apr-22
Ronice88 we love your caches!! This was a pretty easy find but the fun happens when you open this one. TFTC

This one was a real family affair. Geoson easily found the cache (love it!). Found the red herrings - super fun. Then the frustration set in. I couldn’t find how to open the darn thing. Read some of the logs and knew where we needed to get in to but just couldn’t. Called over the geohusband for some brute force. Another few minutes (we didn’t want to break it!) and we FINALLY had the cache in hand. Fun albeit slightly frustrating. But that’s the point, isn’t it??!! Haha. Thanks for another awesome cache.

We were here last year and, unfortunately, the cache had gone walkabout. We knew we’d be back again so we weren’t too worried that we had to log a DNF. Very happy to report we found it today quite easily. A very enjoyable ride or walk along the extension. TFTC!!

Out for a walk along the survey track with the geofamily. Came for the views. Left with a cache! Watch out for the blackberries. TFTC

How fun is this cache?! Note to self : put the dots in when adding in a waypoint. Had lots of Roos watching us but no muggles today on a slightly drizzly Easter Monday. Fun fact, I brought a mini golf pencil to sign the log books! Felt very apt to be using it (even though I didn’t need to BYO pencil). Thanks for more fun caching Ronice88
