This became the closest to home. Having a morning off work to attend a doctor appointment so thought I would duck over and see if I could pluck this little guy. Busy in the park. Maybe people are getting in their walks before the weather turns wet. I do like this park and spend a lot of time here. Thanks for bringing back caching into it. I was raised in Richmond. Have ended up in Adelaide, South Australia for 39 years. I have been back in Upper Hutt at my sisters house and found out an old school buddy is going through issues with cancer so I ducked over for a couple of days to see him. I dropped a hire car at Snap and was walking to catch my flight back to Wellington and thought Id see if there was a cache nearby. This was less than 20 metres so HAD to have a look for it. Quick find and sign and I was on to the airport. TFTC andy.gail Big Grin7/6/2024 1:32PMFind # 2838

As a sign that I am now an aging cacher, I will admit that I was in this area because I drove past the nearby retirement village to make an initial decision about if it might be somewhere that I could call home when I retire in a year or two. I read a previous log and soon located the prize. Cobwebs were not going to dissuade me!I do enjoy these church multis. Not sure why, but I like to do them. I do like a nice church multi. I was out on my e-bike, ultimately riding it home from Clarence Gardens to Kensington Gardens after house and dog sitting for a few days. A quick find on a quiet New Years Day. TFTC Michells&hound Big Grin1/1/2024 4:16pmFind # 2836

Doh! I just realised that Clove is on Clove-lly Avenue! Im actually staying at some friends house on Clovelly Ave for a few days while they are celebrating New Year in Melbourne. They have a boofhead Golden Retriever that Im looking after. Today I took public transport back to my place in Kensington Gardens and rode my e-bike back. I plan to do some e-bike caching for a few days then make the opposite journey. It was easy to spot the cache from on the bike. TFTC Doctor Owl Big Grin30/12/2023 3:16pmFind # 2834

I am staying at my friends house in Clarence Gardens for a few days so I can look after their boofhead Golden Retriever while theyre away in Melbourne celebrating New Year with family. Today I took public transport back to my home in Kensington Gardens and rode my e-bike back. I found Clove on Clovelly Ave ( not far from where Im staying) then thought Id come look for this one. There was a bit of activity in the property nearby. Possibly a pop-up plant sale. Nobody took any notice of me as I parked my e-bike and had a drink and retrieved and replaced the prize. I have one aunty left alive back in New Zealand (and she has always been my favourite one.)Not sure this was on the way to her place. :shrug:TFTC TravlngSistersNephew Big Grin30/12/2023 3:38pmFind # 2835

Saw as rode up. I do like simple finds when the weather threatens as it did this Christmas Day. Another find on my e-bike, closish to home. TFTC Doctor Owl Big Grin25/12/2023 3:23pmFind # 2832

I have a confession. I solved this years ago but DNF-ed but didnt record it because I felt like I didnt put in a huge effort at GZ. Then I solved it again a couple of weeks ago and the were a couple of people hanging around GZ, waiting so I rode away and came back later but it was another DNF. Today, on Christmas Day I hopped on my e-bike and headed out to find a couple of caches over Magill way. It started steadily drizzle so I thought I would head home but this GZ was on the way. I found the prize reasonably simply this time and had to wonder why I hadnt found it on a previous look. TFTC Freddo Big Grin25/12/2023 3:56pmFind # 2833

Its Christmas and as Im a dirty heathen with only a small family in Aus, I have spend a lot of December 25s finding caches. It was overcast with sprinkles of showers but I wanted to get out and about on my e-bike and I kind of picked this at random as my first attempt to find. I enjoy straightforward multis and this turned out to be a quick find. TFTC Michells&hound Big Grin25/12/2023 3:14pmFind # 2831

So it was Christmas Eve and I hopped on my e-bike to go get a few last minute supplies from the local supermarket and thought I should detour and pick up the closest cache to where Im living now. It was a detour in the opposite direction from the supermarket but it was so close by that it didnt matter. I had actually found this one before when I was walking past but didnt have a pen on me so it was a quick hop off my e-bike and sign and continue. TFTC Freddo Big Grin24/12/2023 3:21pmFind # 2830

Out on my new e-bike. I thought Id have a look for some Byways now that Im living in Kensington Gardens. iPhone had me looking in one place so I brought out the trusty Garmin soon found the prize behind some natural camouflage. TFTC Southern Cross Caching Big Grin20/12/2023 1:02pmFind # 2824

Methinks the fences have probably changed since the original hint was made. Did a bee dance and GPSr refused to zero in so had to use my own wits. Luckily I wasnt witless today. The log is a-sog so I put my own bit of paper for a log. TFTC Southern Cross Caching Big Grin20/12/2023 2:09pmFind # 2828

Woohoo. Achieved todays goal of find the 3 Byways cache that were unfound close to home. A bit of water in container that I tipped out and wiped some. Although baggy was open, log seemed quite dry. Thanks for all the Byways, and now Ill look to see where the next lot are. TFTC Southern Cross Caching Big Grin20/12/2023 2:55pmFind # 2829

Out on my e-bike from my home in Kensington Gardens. What a lovely day. Quarry quite busy. They must be stocking up for Xmas. Garmin had me a bit off so I relied on my iPhone this time and the cache was quite obvious. TFTC GeocacheHunterz Big Grin20/12/2023 1:22pmFind # 2825

Another find for my e-bike. Hmmm? I wonder if I should make it trackable and keep an eye on caches I visit with it?I do like a straightforward Multi. Calculated final cords in the little park across from the plaque as the quarry trucks rumbled by. Quiet at GZ. Continuing on my e-bike/caching arvo. Had to use the motor to get up Penfolds Rd. Sat lock had me looking in wrong spot but I tried some other likely places until I had the prize. TFTC Southern Cross Caching Big Grin20/12/2023 1:51pmFind # 2827

Although it's quite a unique situation having an anthill protecting the cache container, it is causing a bit of dampness inside. Possibly adding all contents to the inside of a big baggy or something would alleviate this situation.

I submitted a maintenance log because contents are wet and mush, but afterwards realised the CO hasn't been active since 2016 so the next chance I get, I'll come back and see what I can do.

Rode my e-bike up from Kensington Gardens. What a lovely day. The view is quite spectacular. I tried to place back a little up from the ant hill. Inside a bit damp so may need owner maintenance soon. Rode my e-bike to the lookout. My first test of steep roads. It went well but still made me work hard. I had to park the e-bike because I couldnt see a way to get past the gate without ending up with the e-bike on top of me. It was a lovely day for a walk so all good. Quick find. I was very surprised when I heard a vehicle coming towards me as I climbed back up to the gate and was passed just before by a Park Ranger's vehicle.I got to the gate just as the lady ranger was struggling to unlock it. She got a bit of a fright when I strolled up next to her.*Contents very damp. Log sheets mush. I added my own (dry) page but that will be wet by now. I enjoyed the whole experience. I surprised myself with how quickly I found this. I was out riding my brand new e-bike and this isnt too far from home. Im hoping that having an e-bike will rekindle my interest in caching. My first physical find in a number of years. Over from Aus. I had a spare arvo in AKL so took ferry to Waiheke. Walked into Oneroa and had a wonderful lunch of oysters and mussel linguine with a couple of glasses of local chardonnay at The Oyster Inn. Stopped here for a quick find while a small group of people were distracted by flowers on the bottle brush and pohutukawa across the road. Thanks for an easy find. I had to power walk to catch the ferry after. TFTC WaihekeResourceTrust Big Grin24/10/2023 4:37pmFind # 2813

Out with my sister walking Buddy, my niece’s pooch

Over from South Australia, I haven’t been caching for a long time but thought I might as have a quick look along the route.

With the help of the hint, this was a quick find.
Being unprepared I didn’t have a writing utensil.

Quiche is pie, right? I picked up a nice spinach and fetta quiche on the way but it was square so I didn’t bother to measure it and apply Pi.

It was good to see lots of people keen for pi. Or were they there for pie?

I was a little late and people started heading off soon after. I told myself they were heading to the CiTO and not because I was there.

There was quite a bit of rubbish in the little park so I did a quick personal CITO as I left.

It took longer than it should have. It had been found not long before and rehid very well.

And on top of that we did a good job of cleaning up.

Caching shouldn’t be a blood sport IMO so have dropped a temporary container at the base of a big tree until I create a proper one worthy of this great album.

After performing some maintenance on my cache at Willunga Hill and stocking up on some beers from Goodiesons Brewery, I thought that on such a lovely day I should grab a cache and this was the closest unfound.
A little cache guardian was not impressed with the disturbance.

This one might suffer from moisture once the wet months come so it would pay to keep an eye on it, or possibly put the log book in a baggy.

I do love me some Pi.

Also, love the concept of Pi Day.

One year, I forced my fellow workers to join me for some pie at 1:59 (pm. I'm not THAT cruel).
They were kind enough not to deride me too much.

Nice!

After a couple of easy finds to get me ‘back on the horse’ it was good to have to put in my ‘caching eyes’ and engage my brain on this one.

The log in the log in the log was screwed up and crammed in but luckily I had thought to bring my pocket knife and the cork screw attachment hooked all inhabitants and hopefully I have replaced them in a better way.
