Logs for Aquilo
13-Dec-06
This is difficult to do when a choir, followed by an orchestra are playing in the square and were on the screen for several hours!
Hunted high and low and then finally found a possible cache - it flew a short distance on retrieval and sunk! We then called it a day
Failed to find and thought we'd run out of places to look. Had to run for the train, so called it a day
I sent 169090 to retrieve the cache after we spotted it - bravery was required. Took TB Old Deuteronomy.
As waters lovers, we appreciated this sculpture and it's also our first virtual cache
09-Dec-06
Cache was very damp when found, also very buried on ground in autumn leaves
Sadly this has been all but destroyed. Eventually found magnetic ring in the flower-bed below and were able to replace it on the wall, but the rest has gone
06-Dec-06
Easily accessible cache. Mild care advised, as found another 'cache' nearby containing clean syringes and a sharps bin
Nice end to a slightly disappointing days caching. Took TB Bite me and left TB Goldie the Firedog. 169090 took Geocoin 'Dorkfish' and left UK penny
Nice end to slightly disappointing day caching. Took TB Bee 'N Gees Butternut, left TB Goldie the firedog. 169090 took geocoin 'Dorkfish' and left UK penny
Pretty sure we had the right tree, but us Poms are a little wary of Aussie spiders and there were certainly plenty of webs around. Eventually conceded defeat

03-Dec-06
Did in good company - 169090 and Cousin Murray. Took TB Red Piece-Hall Traveller, left wind-up fish
02-Dec-06
Visited with my cousin and family, who joked that we could fit the description of blondie-n-baldie. Took TB Poko Chan, left UK squash ball
01-Dec-06
Agree that this was a pictureque spot and a good starting point for a couple of less visited / less accessible caches
Found remnants only - needs basically replacing before anyone else can visit. Very clever in its day though
27-Nov-06
Did find a giant kiwi (rock) at this one, as well as lots of other paddlers. Took dice, left TB UK Photo Explorer#2
26-Nov-06
Quite a challenge to find as the magnet certainly wasn't working and there were lots of leaves
Great views out towards ? Abel Tasman. Did this on foot and found the Centre of New Zealand as an added bonus on the way home
Interesting detour, whilst exploring the town - wouldn't have known that was there
25-Nov-06
I followed the nearby sign literally to locate the cache without arousing suspicion - I felt a little stupid!
There really is a pink portaloo. Thankfully our 51st NZ cache, as not quite the memory I'd want for a 50th
Much stealth required and very sorry we didn't photograph as our strangest cache site
Private function happening. I hate to think what they thought of a couple of Poms wandering suspiciously round the gardens. + UK penny, - Maori 'hook'
Muggles doing maintenance work, with some one waiting for them almost stood on the cache - very frustrating! Glad we walked up there though
24-Nov-06
Muggles +++. Stealth certainly was required. Nice views of lake and flood plain. + uk penny, - RD coin
Agree this is a beautiful walk by Taupo. Pity about the flies ++ on arrival. Took TB Goldie the Firedog, left Aussi Koala from Stargate P38176 TB Cache
Took cache away to bench when muggles approached. They sat down on cache site and ate lunch! (?? were they geocaching too?) Finally able to replace. + UK penny, - padlock
Took glass fish, left UK penny. Got spotted looking suspicious in bushes with 169090 again!
Wouldn't have visited the fish otherwise, so thanks. Spotted by park ranger despite 0808hr - luckily he was aware, but take care
Views great, but was a little concerned that we could be trespassing. TNLN
