Logs for Mind Socket

15-May-23
Took me over 20 years to make it out here. Glad i finally did!

25-Jan-16
Time to pull the plug on this one. Protip: if the person after you found the inside wet, you probably didnt close the ammo can properly. As far as i can tell this cache is still watertight when closed properly after 13 years

02-Jan-16
After 13 years it's time to tank this one out. Thanks to all the visitors, especially those that carried out maintenance.

21-Sep-13
Accessing the cache via the gardens as suggested is a 2. Anything else is really up to you Wink

16-Jul-13
Cache check carried out, replaced zip-loc bag. Not doing too badly for 10 year old cache!

02-Jan-12
Driving back to Sydney from Brisbane via Glen Innes, we thought we'd start the new year with a cache, and this one fit the bill nicely.

Spent a while wandering amongst the stones and surrounds dodging dog walkers and fitness fanatics while the GPS settled down, and eventually found it.

We were caught out without a pen, so if you're feeling particularly strict on the rules, feel free to delete this log since we were unable to make a mark. I have a photo to prove we were there if that helps. Smile

Thanks all for playing Smile

07-Jun-11
Quick easy find. Cache appeared to be out of place so restored per hint

First find in a while. Popped un during a quick campervan tour. Tnln

Popped in on the way to Iluka

11-Apr-11
The end of an era... With another cache now bringing people to this lovely spot, and my own commitment to maintenance waning, Jumble's time has finally come.

Thanks all for the memories, hope it was rewarding for you as it was for me. It was nice of you all not to kill me for my dastardly puzzles :p

04-Apr-11
No updates, busy moving house. I'll consider archiving since there's another cache nearby now.

22-Jan-11
Checked in today, all is well. Thanks to the person who kindly provided a spare log book.

Picked up the cache today, will probably archive this one but before I do, will try to scan the story. The zany tales of Mr and Mrs Muggle and the odd socks are truly bewildering Smile Stay tuned

28-Nov-10
Taking offline for maintenance

03-Oct-10
I plan to reinstate this cache in November, as I'm currently travelling. The waypoints have been retrieved and need work before redeploying - this is not a simple cache nor a simple process, so I need a little time

10-Jul-10
Popped in to pick up a jumble way point gowza rescued. TFTC and waypoint rescue Smile

Good hide

Great spot.tftc

09-Jul-10
Taking offline for maintenance. This cache will likely be back in a more virtual form, same puzzles, less waypoints.

01-May-10
My first find for the year! It was great to catch up with all the old-school cachers and meet some new ones Smile

12-Apr-10
It's easy to take a bad approach here and scratch yourself up unnecessarily. I was able to place and maintain the cache without too much trouble (though I must apologise for not checking in for a while). In the interests of preserving the area, the listing has been updated with part of the information from the hint:

To avoid unnecessary bush-bashing, approach the cache from the bend in the Basin track NW of the cache (approx S33.598622 E151.288224 )

19-Sep-09
Got within cooee of this one, but my original plan for a 3-4 person dedicated cache-attack was (happily) converted into a 7 person hike from Cowan to Brooklyn. As a result, we only made it to the despicably defaced "Top of the World" for lunch before turning on our heels for the onward journey to Brooklyn Dam where we set up camp.

The cache has waited 8 years for me to show up and I've been planning an assault for 7, I'm sure it'll be there in another year. Smile

It's been a while between caches for me, I'm hoping gratuitous graffiti isn't par for the course these days. Sad

26-Apr-09
I was in the area, and popped in to check on the cache.

All is well, and the story, whilst long and obscure, is hilarious. Keep up the good work people!

12-Jan-09
We camped on the tent platforms for our 5th night out on the Overland Track, and after taking in Mt Oakleigh (from the top) I plum forgot to log this one properly! :p

06-Jan-09
Found this on the ground while waiting for the ferry. Wasn't exactly sure where to put it back, but did my best based on the clue.

05-Jan-09
A nice easy find on a beautiful part of the track, even with the hordes of chardonnay backpackers on my heels.

04-Jan-09
I hiked up Mt Oakleigh with a new friend in the afternoon, after doing the Windermere to Pelion section of the Overland Track. We got within 800m of the cache, but I was more than happy with the views and achievement of reaching the secondary peak, so we traipsed back on down as the sun started to set, instead of pressing on to this one.

Yeah, I'm soft. Smile

We were having so much fun on the overland track that I forgot to look for this one :p

03-Jan-09
My hiking buddy and I arrived at sundown on the 1st in gale force winds and a blizzard. We stayed 2 nights as we waited for the rest of our party to join us (thanks to the booking system). I tried to find this on the afternoon of Jan 2nd, but there was quite a bit of snow covering the ground. After retiring to the hut for the evening and confirming that I was looking in the right spot, I nabbed it the next morning on our way to Windermere as the snow had melted somewhat.

A nice easy find, and an interesting introduction to geocaching for one of our hiking party.

I think I may have written the wrong date (2008) on the log scroll by mistake. :p

01-Jan-09
We got here in fairly rough weather conditions and in our haste took a photo in the wrong direction. Hopefully it still qualifies. Smile

Similarly failed to find this as we had to give up the search in very unpleasant weather. Great spot though!

29-Dec-08
Nice easy find in yet another lovely spot. Thanks for bringing me up this way.

27-Dec-08
My 2nd find for the day/year/state Smile Interesting spot

My first ever Tassie find, on the first day of my first ever Tassie trip! Great spot, and a good one to remind me how this whole geocaching thing works again. It's been over a year since I posted a find, so it was good to nab a few in 2008 Smile

18-Nov-08
Checked in at WP2 today and WP3 on the weekend. I've shifted WP2 slightly to a stable resting place and reinforced it a little.

29-Aug-08
Haven't the time to maintain this one sorry. I didn't hear back from Bear Left regarding the Happily Ever After series, but I'll try them again if anyone still wants to chase it up.

14-Jun-08
Carried out a cache check and maintenance today (on my pushbike in the rain). Smile

All is well, WP3 is back in action and it's good to go again.

Sorry it took me so long.

Carried out a cache check and maintenance today (on my pushbike in the rain). Smile

Cache is dry and back in place.

21-Oct-07
Sounds like the first waypoint has lost the ability to point to the final cache. Will try to fix it up soon.

01-Sep-07
Waypoint 3 is undergoing maintenance. The others are still in action according to recent reports.

13-Aug-07
Found the clue, but there's no ground cover that might conceal the cache. Suspect it has been picked up by garden maintenance.

12-Aug-07
Went for a drive up the hill and took some piccies.

08-Aug-07
Out of action while it goes into a 12 step program to dry out.

27-May-07
This is a great little spot for a cache. I was camping with friends at the basin, and I was lucky that my hare-brained idea to wade across the basin with a DSLR, radio, GPS and shoes hanging from my neck didn't end in disaster. After traversing 1/3rd of the mesh fence across the basin, I decided that wasn't a good idea, and resorted to a thigh-deep wade further upstream. Then it was back on with the shoes and off to the cache.

The area around GZ is lovely, if not a little overgrown, and 4 kookaburras kept me company as I took some snaps and located the cache.

I took a slightly deeper route back across the basin and drowned my keys, but everything else managed to stay dry, no thanks to me. Smile

Found the monuments ok, and got some reasonable measurements. GZ matched up with the hint, but no cache gave itself up under the scrutiny of 6 pairs of eyes. That doesn't mean it's not there, but if the cache is within 3m of the hint, then I'd be surprised that we didn't find it if it is there. We also searched nearby to no avail.

I was at The Basin for a short camping trip with KitPie and friends, and managed to convince 3 of the girls to hike up the hill with me to check on the cache (it's 5 years old!).

Cache is in good order, as is the view. I stopped and took some panoramic shots.

For those concerned about the bush bash, the easiest way I know is to approach from the first big bend in the Basin Track. Follow any of a number of vague animal trails south until you get to the rock platforms (about 30m of thick bush), then it's an easy rock hop to the east.

07-Jan-07
Replaced the WP1 container and tidied up the clue note.

This one's been in my sights for aaaaages. Opting not to take the MTB after all, KitPie and I set out today on foot. We took a wrong turn here and there, and got drenched after it started raining, but we got there. Cache is in fine condition, and the helper coords from previous finders were handy.
