Logs for TraxUK

06-Apr-11
My photo is taken at the plaque honouring Dorothy Hewett whose first novel 'Bobbin Up' was published in 1959. She was an Australian poet, novelist and playwright. At the time of her death in 2002 (which the plaque does not record), she was working on the second part of her autobiography, 'The Empty Room'.

The muggles obliged with this cache and kept out of the way while I made a quick retrieval and replacement.

This was a quick find before I had to return to the hotel to pack at the end of our holiday in New Zealand and Australia.

04-Apr-11
This was my first cache find in Australia and was logged during an early morning walk across the bridge. Spectacular sights in so many directions.

I was puzzled by this one at first and then light dawned! - I then made an easy find and had just returned the cache to its location when 'Purplepeopleater' arrived – nice to meet you.

03-Apr-11
This was an easy find as we made our way from the centre of Christchurch to the airport at the end of our stay in NZ. We spent the morning in the centre of the city and were disturbed at the obvious horror that the people of Christchurch had endured - our sympathy goes out to them and all our best wishes for the rebuilding of their lives.

Found after an extended search – not quite where I expected after I did my counting.

Took some time to find this one as I had to widen the search from the GPS indicated position but found in the end.

The weather was absolutely glorious today and the views from the lookout were spectacular, making much camera-work necessary. Lots of muggles about but still easy to find and log the cache.

A quick cache and dash as we travelled from the Otago Peninsular to Mount Cook. A clever hide!

Maybe they thought I was getting too familiar with this bird but whatever turns you on...! Not too many muggles about so I got away with it as I admired the artistry.

A quick cache and dash after we visited the Moeraki Boulders.
TFTC

This cache was not in a snaplock container. The actual container not being waterproof, the log was absolutely soaking wet and was difficult to fill in.

An easy find with the help of the hint. Not too many muggles around so the cache was logged without any particular problems although my laces ended up nicely tied!
TFTC

A quick find although I was surprised by the number of muggles who were walking along the path at this location – managed to log the cache without being seen.
TFTC

Found this one eventually – a lot of potential locations to search!
TFTC

This must have been a pretty spectacular site for a school when it was in operation. The cache took some finding because of the abundant vegetation.
We were staying on the farm owned by an ex pupil of this school – there were nine pupils in his time!

Driving into Dunedin and this cache showed up on the sat-nav. A nice quick find and no muggles disturbed my search.

Visiting Dunedin so that my better half and her sister could look at the shops. Parked the car and decided to see if there were any caches nearby – this was right next to the car, in fact, so an easy find!

An easy find and not many muggles around to be a problem.
Saw exceptional views of the albatrosses when we visited the nearby Albatross Centre.

Found eventually after ignoring the GPS indication. Gave the gun a good inspection in the process.
TFTC

An easy find in a very scenic location. Half the area was roped off to protect nesting penguins.

An easy find as we passed on our journey from Milford Sound to Dunedin – it is nice to have these 'cache and dashes' as we travel.

A tranquil place to admire some spectacular sights. It seems that the ducks have been trained to come and create ripples just as you are about to photograph your masterpiece of a reflection! Answers have been emailed to CO and photo uploaded.

Found on my second visit. An easy find this time as I widened my search area considerably and looked well away from where my GPS indicated – the hint became useful.

An easy find and it needed to be quick as there was a cold wind blowing. Full log noted.

An easy find and the area was totally deserted at a late hour.

A quick, unexpected find as we passed on our way to see the steam railway – which was, unfortunately, not operating.
TFTC

The cache container was completely exposed when found. Tried to hide it better after logging the find.
TFTC

An easy find in a tranquil location – we were tempted to stay for much longer.
TFTC

It was an interesting walk up to this one – many imaginative scenes on the way to add to the interest.
TFTC

This was totally unexpected – the cache description and, in particular the hint, had built up a picture totally different from what we found. Quite delightful in the end.
TFTC

An interesting history to this cache which was an easy find.
