Logs for ectizen
06-Jan-04
Found at about 8pm.
Apart from the sign at Waypoint 2 having been moved (lying a few metres away) I had little trouble finding this one. Most of the difficulty came from me being very visibly attired (note to self: get camoflage cycling gear), at a time when there were many people walking by (5-6pm). I felt I'd be a bit too conspicuous if I tried a creek crossing, so I retreated for a successful attempt a couple of hours later.
I took a Queensland statistics pamphlet, and left a small tape measure.
A fun cache, and a good bike ride. Thanks Quasar!

ectizen (geocaching novice, and first event), Caroline (ectizen's sister, and geocaching first-timer) and Josie (ectizen's niece, and also a geocaching firt-timer) attended.
Apart from some kind of fun activity, we had little idea what to expect. What we got was a really enjoyable day, full of adversity (rain, mud, inadequate preparation...) and puzzles.
Thanks to maccamob & Two+Four for a wet, fun, muddy, challenging, wet, interesting, and fun adventure!
And thanks to the other participants for the competition and occasional help.

My third cache attempt of the day (out of a planned nine) and the first find.
While searching for this, I actually gave up twice, but since I lacked the energy to go elsewhere (too hot!), I persisted. Lethargy-driven determination and one hint-decrypting paid off, and I found the cache at 11:40am, and made no exchange.
I used to work a few hundred metres away, but had never come to this interesting place. Thanks maccamob!

I had a little more trouble than most, but that was probably because I attempted this after a 20km bike ride in ridiculous heat, so I was having difficulty thinking straight, let alone counting. After deciding the cache couldn't possibly be in the middle of a nearby derelict house, I revisited location 2 and found TWO errors in my counting...
Armed with correct co-ords, the cache was found without any further drama at 4:05pm. Interesting hiding spot.
Only two more Puzzlemania #1 clues to go...

Found at 2:25pm, after a 17km bike ride from home, about 10 minutes of relaxed searching, and one power-cycling of the GPSr. This was the second cache I've found in recent days that was guarded by a spider, although this one wasn't quite as intimidating as the last.
Having nothing worthy at the time, I made no exchange.
Thanks maccamob!

Happily found at 5pm, after an enjoyable walk. I was quite pleased to see the nice, roomy cache container, as I'd been trying to drop off a travel bug for a while now (caches were a bit on the small side, or DNFs...).
Left "Wiskers da Wabbitt" travelbug, a pack of glitter pens and some butterflies. Took a tiny backpack-looking bag.
Thanks Geoff, Sophie & Frazer!

Easily found the cache, on a nice sunny Boxing Day, at 4:40pm, guarded by a very nasty looking spider!
Took nothing, left a Palestinian 1 mil coin.
Thanks Andrew & Daniel & Muzza!

Obtained a complete set of answers at 10:50pm. Having not read the logs, and nor fully read the directions, we (ectizen doing all the work, the aptly-named sloth just tagging along) had very little idea what to expect. We started with the first location. Wow. Seriously, Wow.
Thanks maccamob! Those were some impressive lights.

I'm looking forward to meeting some other geocachers, so I'll definitely be there, dragging along 1, 2 or 3 others for their first taste of geocaching.
Found at 12:50pm, after a walk through the park, involving lots of cicadas, a couple of kookaburras and many small lizards. In fact it was one of the lizards that led me to the cache
This was my second attempt at finding a cache with a travelbug (I missed the first one by a couple of hours). I left Tasmanian Blue Gum seeds, and picked up Wiskers da Wabbitt for some more travelling.
Thanks Quasar!

Surprised myself with an easier than expected find at 3:45pm - lucky, I guess
The sign that gives "CC" appears to have been vandalised to death, although a duplicate of the sign was found on its other side, so that didn't hold me up for long...
Took a Jigglypuff Pokemon card, left a purple highlighter.
Thanks kiwideb, for a nice, unexpectedly secluded cache!

A fairly straightforward find at 2:35pm. A few, slow and suspiscious passers-by made replacing the cache a little difficult, but I think I got it back safely. Come to think of it, they did look kinda wayward...
Took a small frog, and left a small butterfly. Thanks Biggles Bear!

Found at 10:40am. My first attempts at this cache were over a month ago, and failed miserably. I eventually found the final location (despite being hampered by a dismal lack of basic maths skills (two times three equals six, not two!), but gave up after over an hour of discrete searching.
I was in the area again today, had some spare time, so I gave it another try, and found it within a few minutes
I took a Hungarian 2 forint coin, and left a 25 something Philipines coin.
Thanks Muzza!

Found at 4pm, after a good hike, involving quite a few other walkers, lots of giant ants and an echidna. Being a bit unsure as to where I was supposed to be, I eventually decrypted the hint to find the cache.
No exchange was made.
Thanks, Vector180!

It was a rainy day, so I didn't have too many other people to contend with, although at one point, I was adopted by a passing swarm of flies... One lunch-and-insect-repellent break later, I continued my quest, and found the cache at abaout 3:10pm.
Took a spirit level, left an orange clip/LED torch.
Thanks for a fun, sandy trek, close to home!

Found at 2:40pm, after a pleasant walk, having the area almost to myself - I only saw one other person on the way to the site, a no-one else on the way back to the carpark. I liked the hiding spot for the cache
Took a toy monster (Digimon, perhaps?), and left a couple of butterflies.
Thanks Sparkky!

Found at 4:25pm, after a fun drive to the cache, and an interesting shortish trek on foot. Took a glowstick, and left an orange clip/LED torch thingy.
Thanks for a good cache in a nice spot, kids of Threepwood!

Found at 3:40pm!
This was the most demanding cache I have attempted, and I had a great time. It was very difficult to get a good GPS fix. For most of the trek up to the cache, I had EPEs of around 50m, when I could get a fix at all. At the cache, someone must have been smiling on me, since for a couple of brief moments, the EPE dropped below 10m. I found the cache within a minute of decoding the hint.
I took a "Wild Freesia" Glass Candle, and left a bicycle spoke tool.
Thanks for a hugely fun cache, kiwideb!

Found at 8:50 this morning. As I was standing there, waiting for the GPSr to average, I casually looked around, saw something that looked a bit odd and then went over and picked up the cache. Lucky, I guess
I didn't have anything suitable for exchange, so I swapped nothing. After writing my log entry, there was only about 15cm of log paper left.
Thanks for a great cache in an unexpected park, Alan-san!

We (ectizen, phantom & sloth) weren't looking for this at first, but after a slightly disappointing failed attampt at another cache, the keen-eyed first-timer phantom spotted the waypoint as we drove past. We decided to try it, and found the cache at 1:30am
This was a first find for both phantom and sloth, and my seventh. The clues/directions were good, the hiding spot was easy enough to find for a pack of beginnners like us, and we all enjoyed the extra historical info. We took an orange car, and left a toy compass (unfortunately, we didn't have a car themed swap...)
Thanks Alan-san for another great cache!

Well, after the second attempt in the space of 24 hours, and about 2 hours of searching we (ectizen & phantom (& sloth, kinda)) didn't find it. There was no sign of ol' man poss - scared away by geocachers? & no sign of the cache despite searching extensively along trees & bushes by the river. We shall search again after another reported find!
Found at 8:50pm by ectizen & phantom. Nice, quick, easy and informative. Took a small pocket knife thingy, left a small alarm clock.
Thanks for another enjoyable cache, Alan-san!

Found at 5:25pm, after a short search. I was in the general area for well over half an hour before making the final approach - taking photos so as to not look too suspiscious to the occasional people walking by
I saw some interesting wildlife (no mosquitoes, but lots of tiny rabbits) and had a great time. Took flower seeds, and left a golf ball.
Thanks to GeoJo & Lucy Diamond for this great cache!

I found this cache without too much trouble at around 4pm this afternoon. It seems I was just a tad optimistic in my hopes of being the first to find this one, and getting my first look at a travelbug - turns out I was about 6 or 7 hours late
I took a table tennis ball, and left a key tassel.
Thanks for the fun cache, Team Frogger!

I found this one at about 6:30pm, after spending at least an hour playing with my new compass, taking bearings from all over the place to figure out which side
Took a spider, left a 10-sided die.
Thanks for a cache with an interesting story, so close to my regular lunching grounds, Alan-san!

A not-so-quick find for me, but I still barely know what I'm doing. After a failed attempt and well over two hours of searching, I finally found this one at 5:25 am.
Thanks for the challenge, muzza!

Found it at about 2:40pm
I had a huge amount of fun on this. Once I figured out what I was supposed to do, it was fairly straighforward. This was certainly better than I was expecting, although as a novice (only started geocaching yesterday - 2nd find!) I wasn't sure what to expect. Kangaroos were a highlight for me too.
Took a glue stick, left a ten-sided die.

Thanks gmj3191, for a cache in a nice place with a nice walk, that was easy enough to be found by a complete beginner (I just started today). I did need to use half of the hint though, but I figure that was probably okay since I've never seen a cache before
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
