[white] Attempted this mission with a platoon of caches, with so many foot solders with bright lights it was going to be very difficult to remain undetected stop.
Was fortunate to move into forward scout position to discovering the each checkpoint as intended. The few that we stumbled on extracting information were soon sorted with the help many reinforcements stop
Not sure if it was because Ive been on so many of these missions in the past, but some how I managed to end up with the finial cache in my hands and after so much excitement and fun I was ready for extraction.
Brilliant! I've been blessed having you guys as caching neighbours

Notes from the weekend;
1/ ☂ Rain at altitude is crap.
2/ ❄ Snow now on the other hand is a whole different story.
3/ Dry bags are the best thing ever.
4/ Spare pair of dry gloves worth their weight in gold.
6/ Love my sleeping mat and bag.
7/ VCC members are a lot more adventurous than GC members
8/ On paper gumboots appear to be a good idea.
9/ Good people, good port, Alpine hut = excellent weekend.

Hypothetical favourite point from me

[Teal]Simply awesome![/Teal]
I’ve had my eye on a few T5 caches around Geelong for quite some time and needing to find a T5 cache for the "Get Extreme“ Souvenir. With the added bonus of an event on in Geelong today that was all the extra encouragement needed to get over this side of the bay.
Moving on from "Vulpes Vulpes”I headed further up stream loving all the extra challengers the river through at me, at each one I thought will I need to do some portage here but managed to find away around without the need to get out of the kayak.
The final location looked to have me beat before I realised I didn’t have to go any further up stream. What a cool location and my kind of cache container. I will be recommending this cache for sure and goes with out saying fav point from me

I’ve had my eye on a few T5 caches around Geelong for quite some time and needing to find a T5 cache for the "Get Extreme“ Souvenir. With the added bonus of an event on in Geelong today that was all the extra encouragement needed to get over this side of the bay.
As it turned out we picked up a T5 first find near the event then after attending the event it was off to the Barwon river for some more T5 fun. After finding "What ever floats you boat” It was all up stream to this cache, after some confusion as to where I should be looking I finally went with instinct and disregarded where the GPSr wanted me to look. This time it paid off and I soon spotted the cache, Hopped back in the yak and headed over to GZ for an easy find, in the end my GPS was only out by a few metres and there was no need to exit the Kayak to retrieve the cache

Had two weeks work in Hawthorn and thought I might be able to knock this one off after work, even if I did a stage a night. but after collecting the first bit of information and battling the peak hour traffic home thought it best to try the next stages on a quite weekend.
Well today I had a few hours spare so headed of to stage1 and apart from the windy conditions had no problem gathering the required information more than I can say for whoever attempted this last, as there was all sorts of make shift throw line hanging from the tree (Wonder if they managed to get there in the end?) Well I did manage to retrieve one improvised throw bag and length of bricky's line.
After getting side tracked over to Fitzroy garden to recover a cache, I eventual arrived back where I had started. Lucky for me I had picked a quite afternoon so had the area to myself and I could extract the logbook from this very bold cache. hmm this should a cinch…. well ½ hour later I finally deciphered the instruction and entered the numbers correctly Phew!
Well atleast I didn’t have to battle the traffic home
A very bold cache which indeed gets one of my rare fav points
PS. I think it should read Three turns right to A, full turn right, right to BB, left to CC

[green] So when you say wind tunnel yon mean wind tunnel[/green]
Back in the Grampians for the long weekend, my main priority was Grampians Secrets 3 & 4, these two caches had been on my most wanted list for far to long and if there was to be any cache finding it was these two caches.
After finding No 3 in thick cloud cover I tentatively headed towards this cache hoping I wasn’t walking in the direction of a dead end. At some point I started following small rock Cairns that seem to lead me around a few obstacles but finished abruptly less than 100m before the cache. Problem was I appeared to be well above the cache with no obvious way down. Some time was spent trying different ways, some more difficult than others eventually I found a route down and later discovered I wasn’t far at all form the cache but at the time the GPSr was all over the place. Soon after finding away down I discovered the caves and for the next hour I spent searching every nook and cranny for the cache. Still not sure why but I had some preconceived notation that this is where the cache was hidden
With frustration starting to kick in, it was time for a break so headed up to the summit were in a short time I could see where the GPSr was pointing, back down I go and had the cache in no time. After the route I took from the other cache the last final few metres were a piece of cake
Great cache in fantastic area, which I so pleased to add my name

[green] Its taken awhile but here![/green]
Well this cache has been on my to do list since I found “A Difficult Mountain to Climb “ and not that long after starting caching, that feels like along time ago. Had to drop the eldest son off at music festival near Donald and decided to head towards the North End of the Grampians spend the night at Mt Stapylton campground. Arrived late only to find the camp ground still closed due to the recent bushfires so made my way to Mt Zero carpark and set up camp along with quite a few camper vans
After packing up camp headed off reasonably early only to find the mountain shrouded in thick cloud, oh well its taken me this long to eventually get to the start of this cache there was no way I was going to give up. Bypassing a few nearby caches on my way up, having full intention’s of picking them up on the way back or did I just have blinkers on, not wanting to stop until this cache was found.
The higher I climbed the thicker the cloud got, by the time I had reached the summit visibility was down to 10m. As there was a very fresh wind blowing and no view to speak of I soon moved on. Soon I was at a point were I couldn’t keep going on my current coarse then spotted the chock stone. After a brief “128hrs” moment I was across the first hurdle, a brief stop at the next edge to read the clue and soon realized where I had to be, this hurdle took a little long to get around but once above the cache it was a short scramble down to the cache to extend some well over due lov’en
Cache still in good order, noted the last online entry was missing in the logbook. Took some happy snaps before deciding if it was possible to head directly to the Wind tunnel cache in this thick cloud cover or retreat the way I came, but that’s a story for another log
Thx HGcore love this sort of caching
[green]Merci beaucoup

[green] Got it![/green]
I had been watching climbers on the rock face for some time as I made my across the forgotten track and wondered if they were near this cache. Once I eventually made down to the area I found they were close but not that close I couldn’t find the cache. I watched there graceful moves for awile longer before headed off to the road and back to Mt zero picnic area where my cars was parked, passed there cars in the carpark then got to the road and noticed the gate to carpark was locked. It appears this area is still closed to general public this had me pondering who these climbers were. I did hear Alex Honnold was in town, but these guys were all wearing harness
Thx for the cache in this fantastic location

[Blue]Oaky! are you kidding, how could I not find this one[/blue]
Headed out bright and early today to get my self some high terrain caches and stop in at event. Well I was a little shy of my intended target and didn’t manage making the event, but boy did I find some excellent caches and this one was no exception and how could not resist stopping finding a cache called “Oaky”
Not long after arriving I had a rope set up when a van pulled up only a few meters away from GZ. The driver soon asked what was I up too, I resisted saying almost 300 metres instead I just went with practicing rope skills. He then explained there was a Farmers market on today, Hmmm better gets on with it then.(Farmers market or not this one had my name on it) So he then went about his business and I mine
In no time at all I was at the cache signing the log taking a few selfie’s and generally enjoying the first cache of the day, by the time I had got back down more vehicles were arriving so I quickly packed up and I was off to the next cache. Great timing I say
Thx Isabella for an excellent cache and nice meeting you at another cache 8hrs later. Cant wait for your next cache to be published

[green] Rowen!!! my name is Rowen Banana's....[/green]
After reading B1’s log I approached GZ in full ninja stealth mode, the coast looked clear and so I proceeded with my set up. First shot close, second even close but became stuck fast on something close to the cache. Had to now use my backup line and throw bag, pressure was on and I new if I mucked around much longer I risked being carted off in hand cuffs especially if they thought a maybe related to Philipp Barnes.
Bang nailed the next short and soon had a secure rope in the tree, a little lower than I wanted but I wasn’t going to risk hanging around on the ground any longer. Made it about half way to the cache when I noticed a security man on a push bike stoped on the nearby track looking up at me I proceeded a little further up and realized he wast going anywhere, at this point I remembered the line "never let the truth get in the way of a good story' so I just yelled out "Rowan my name is Rowan Philipppppps" to my surprize he seemed happy with this response and carried on his merry way leaving me to go about mine which was checking on the micro bat roosting box, well that’s what I told the Muggle who asked while I was packing up.
Once up at the cache the stuck bag and slick line were retrieved, a broken branch being the culprit. Log signed and log selfie taken. It was then just a matter returning to the ground, pack up the gear, brief chat to a muggle and I was off to place my own cache.
Thanks Philipp for yet another fine excuse to get the climbing gear out again

[Teal] Heaven on earth! [/Teal]

Our original plan was to come to Tassie to do a hike to Blue peak to find an unfound cache and perhaps spread some love to a few unloved caches in the area. But as the date approached it was decided not to try for "Blue peak dreaming" cache as it was a bit of an unknown walk and might be a bit to much for the younger members in our group. So instead we decided on Wall of Jerusalem as an over night hike destination and after spending way to much time on a nearby (as the crow fly's) unloved cache we eventually set off later than planed on the up hill climb towards Wild dog creek camp site. Just managed to get our tents set up and dinner cooked before the weather turned for the worse
We awoke the next day to the occasional sleety shower but managed to get some breakfast cooked between showers. Around 9ish the weather looked to be improving so packed our lunch for a walk to Dixon's kingdom, as it turned out the sky’s turned blue although still very cold we had an amazing walk, finding this cache along the way was a bonus. What an absolute pearler of a spot, truly breath taking. Cache was found in excellent condition, but had me wondering why on earth their wasn’t anymore caches in this area. I guess you really don’t need any more reward for coming here.
(On a side note I did carry a ammo can up here so stay tuned for more on that if I can get it published)
Not long after arriving at Dixons Kingdom hut it started snowing and continued through out the night. We certainly got the full Tassie experience on this trip, an adventure that won’t be forgotten in a hurry
Thx
Spreyton22 for placing this cache, we are forever indebted for showing us this paradise

[Blue]Cool![/blue]
When I first arrived at this one I was only there 5 minutes before two of the locals asked what I was up to. Oh boy this is going to be tricky, so this time I went with the “Just checking the micro bats nesting roost to see if its been excepted by the bats as a new home”. “How cool is that,” said one of the muggles. And soon left me to the job at hand.
Once the rope was set and helmet was on not another muggle paid me any more attention. Soon after I was signing the log and admiring the view. No bats at home today so back down to the ground I went, pack up the gear and headed off in search of the next adventure
Measured this one at 8.8m, not enough to qualify for any rope ascend challenge but still a fun cache to do.
Thx Philipp love the work that’s gone into these and the extra challenge the locals may present

[blue]Eh bien je ai fait un gâchis de cette approche [/blue]
Arrived at the suggested start and started off down the well formed track which the arrow to Tabletop seemed to be pointing (In actual fact it was pointing across the alpine plain) After a considerable distance I consulted the GPSr and it indicated I was heading away from my intended destination Oops!
Enlarged the map on the GPR and it revelled I was at least 1km west of the Tabletop walking track. ok lets double back and head cross country to meet the track
The trek across the snow plain wasn't to bad and soon the GPSr was indicating Id met up with the trail to Tabletop but I couldn't make out the faintest trail what so ever, I trusted the GPS as it hadn't let me down before. It wasn't long after changing my heading that I was thinking maybe the track had been realigned, soon I was heading down hill with the gps say I was right on top of the track but I had come to the realisation that there had never been a track in this area
Once down the steep hill I started moving more in the direction of the cache. It was about the 2 km to go that I stumbled across the track I was supposed to be on Yeah! This was better a well maintained track clearly marked with orange markers mind you the trees in these parts look mighty hungry
The remaining walk to GZ was almost uneventful and quite enjoyable although once on the Table Top the dead trees have now decided to lay down making the final approach to GZ a zig zag one. Cache was located easy pezie then an hour at GZ taking in the serenity
The trip back to the car was much quicker as I decided to stay with the trail this time, highly recommended as well as this cache
Thx Bingley3683 for showing me this area, thoroughly enjoyed this cache and the journey how ever geography challenged I was on the day

Make sure you get a visual on the cache/ attachment devise before climbing and best not use the same fork for your rope as you may lock the cache up,if that makes sense

Unfortunately this one has taken a direct hit from the recent fires and will need replacing.
[green] Lesson learned !(well almost)[/green]
A planned trip to my most favored mountain was almost cancelled due to the week of rain and a bleak weekend forecast. One last check on Thursday night and only this site tipped clear and mostly fine mountain-forecast.com
So at the last hour the adventure was back on
Awoke Saturday morning to beautiful blue sky’s, this was going to be a ripper of a day. Could hardly contain my excitement as I scoffed down breakfast while trying to plan which caches to target, my first thought was to target those with seasonal access. With four possible 5 caches in my sights for the day, however these were all high difficulty/terrain caches and I knew plans would change as I headed off for an epic-caching escapade
It probably wasn’t the best-laid plans to start with this one first; with all the recent rain it wasn’t long before I learnt a valuable lesson Stay clear of moss after rain! Luckily for me I learnt this lesson on the first difficult boulder encountered. Straight back down and landing on my bum, good thing I wasn’t at great height and didn’t fall that far, still it was enough to slow me down and take more care with every footing and hand hold
With this mishap behind me and a phone call to my reasonable adult to let know my exact route and intentions I proceed upwards negating ever larger and more difficult obstacles until I was at a point about 11-12m from GZ, now this doesn’t seem far but in this terrain it might as well be a kilometer. I was convinced I needed to get to the highest point but although I could see that point, from this vantage point it wasn’t accessible with my climbing skills or lack of. Spent quite some time in this location investigating many nooks and cranny’s, even found a labyrinth of voids heading downward deep inside the Mothballs.
Eventually I found a route through, over, under and around to finally emerge on the other side of these monster boulders. At this stage I was still thinking up, so I tried a few options and as climbed ever closer to the peak it dawned on me that the clue no longer made sense. I was now thinking the cache could not be at the highest point but somewhere inside as the name suggests, but at what level? A ammo-can would be had to find in that maze not alone a small 200ml cache.
This was shaping up to be a very difficult cache and would take time to finally locate. A message was sent to the CO for some possible extra information and although he wasn’t very forthcoming he did indicate I was in the correct area. It was now down to more exploration and refined searching. I wasn’t at all worried this might be the only cache I attempted today, I was having the time of my life.
Eventually a spot that had been overlooked was found that appeared to take me back through a small gap to the other side where I first approached GZ, when I reversed back and stood up something just gelled with the clue and the cache was there in my hand! Wow that was such a good feeling
Oh so happy to put my mark in this one, I could have skipped all the way back to the car but in reality it was a methodical step by step decent but not before a little happy dance on top of some giant Mothballs
Thx Scullracing, my kind of caching in one if not the best kept secrete of Victoria

We were camped at Coppers Creek campground on a Tyre tubbing/ rafting weekend down the Thomson River. Not much time for Geocaching so had to get up quite early to grab a few while the rest of the team slept in
The Holden wagon got me as far as Aberfedy campground, and then it was on to the auxiliary vehicle the “MTB” Well there was not much peddle power happing on the way up… Low Saddle track but sure had fun riding over to the nearby “Misplaced cache” and back, then the ride back down to the car was a bloody ripper. Heart stopping stuff
Thx Team Crackers sure do love this type of Caching, one cache like this one is worth 100 ridiculous puzzle caches (In my books anyway)
