Logs for Dick Turpin

12-Nov-05
A very clever clue making the find quite easy. Super cache.

Looks as if the cache has gone.

Rats. Made that mistake with over confidence of believing the cache was somewhere where it wasn’t. Still soon sorted myself out. A great cache for one that was only meant to be temporary. Many thanks.

A straight forward find. Dropped TB "Red Arrow"

Retrieve the cache without a problem went and sat on the wall to complete the log where I was joined by a muggle. Eventually kept the cache and looked around the cathedral shop. When I left, the muggle was still there. When shopping in town came back and the muggle was there. Went for a coffee and then the muggle had left. Phew! A great cache thank you.

Greetings from Saudi Arabia. An interesting location for a cache I just had to bag as it was titled after a namesake. Thank you.

Rats. I chose one side of the river however when its course began to turn drastically I went back and crossed over to the other bank only to find the river bend back and I was now on the incorrect bank. Frustrating to find a river between you and the cache. Still all’s well that ends well, thank you.

Despite the sign there were no Kea here they had more sense it was blowing a gale. No problem making the bag but the weather deterred me from looking for the “lost†cache though I had found a great location for it.

Disgusting weather and frequently finding myself unexpectedly on my bottom slipping on the wet grass provided a little je ne sais quoi to this find.

How embarrassing found by my geocaching widow. Poor coverage meant I went towards the centre of the square to get a better fix only for my wife to find the cache while I was doing so. Many thanks all the same.

Greetings from Saudi Arabia. Took the side road and concluded the cache must be on private land. It was only as I was leaving that I realised my error and soon had this one n the bag. Many thanks.

Greetings from Saudi Arabia. This cache was exactly as described making it a fairly easy bag. For this, I was grateful for the weather was lousy.

A straight forward find thank you.

I didn’t hang around, too many of the permanent occupants were younger than I. Anyway, it was teaming down.

The previous entry in the logbook stated that the cache was found unintentionally. It did not say whether the baggers were geocachers or not. Whatever they complied totally with the rules.

Greetings from Saudi Arabia. Expecting a walk I managed to get quite close to the cache in the car. I was grateful as it was raining quite hard.

I was looking forward to this one though it took longer than expected. I took some time to find the way through the residential streets to the track start. A problem exacerbated by having to pass frequently through the same police speed checkpoint. At the cache site, I searched the natural feature without success before resorting to the hint. This helped in that it showed I had been looking on the wrong feature but drawing a circle of radius 17m (accuracy reported by a previous bagger) I was left with a large area containing numerous hiding places. The area included the gate and I felt furtive frequently stopping to wait for muggles pass through, their presence advertised by the gate creaking. The cacol of previous hunters gave me confidence I was in the correct area but eventually decided on a DNF. Then on my way out, I saw something that did not look natural and Bob’s your uncle. My GPS recorded the site as 22m away, i.e. outside my 17m radius search area. Still a great site for a cache, thank you.

Wow what an easy bag. At the two minute warning a passenger in the vehicle without a GPS or the description took us straight to the cache. A super location thank you.

A pleasant break on the journey back from Milton Sound. Thank you.

Greetings from Saudi Arabia. A pleasant cache in a super setting. Thank you.

We found the cache alright and Sue proved very welcoming. The next door neighbour gave us a good look over and we half expected to hear the phone ring in Peter’s house. But alls well that ends well. Went onto the end of the road and admired the great view. Enjoyed the cache very much. TB in and TB out.

Greetings from Saudi Arabia. Thank you. A thoroughly pleasant walk. Someone had used a site very close to the cache; obviously they were prepared to make the effort to have a drop with a view!

Spying a tree some distance off I guessed the cache had to be there but on arrival the GPS still recorded 17m to go. It very soon after told me to go back 30m. I decided to try my tree. Using the hint only served to confuse given that next to my tree was a hollow tree lying down comprising little else but bark. Went for the simple option and Bob’s your uncle.

The cattle fence did not get in the way but I can understand why a previous bagger found a problem. A nice set thank you.

I concur with a previous log entry that the cache is better hidden than you might expect for a 1*. Still a pleasant set, thank you.

23-Mar-05
Despite the cache being full of water the log book was only slightly damp. Dried it out the best I could.

The cache was hidden quite deep though the entrance was concealed by a natural object in such a way as to suggest I was at the right place to look.

22-Mar-05
Many muggles about. I saw the cache from the wrong side of the fence and so went around to the other. It was a quick in and out to remove the cache followed by a long wait until the site was clear of muggles to reinsert it.

Despite entering from the wrong side of the bush, it proved a straight forward bag.

What a cracking cache. A pleasant walk followed by a sensible set made this a most rewarding bag. Thank you very much.

Greetings from Saudi Arabia. A nice cache thank you.

What a great site for a cache. A straight forward find mainly from the cacol (caching collateral). There were many tracks and obvious places where previous baggers had searched.

Got myself in a bit of a tangle as to which fallen log was being referred to. Success on a return hunt.

What a little tinker. Quickly resorted to the clue which proved essential, my GPS recorded the cache some distance from the given coordinates. Though I guessed correclty from the clue it took many times of crossing the bridge, on each occasion being drawn by the lights, before nailing this one.

Greetings from Saudi Arabia. What a super setting for a cache, thank you. The cache was visible to those walking by so I inserted it a little deeper than it was found.

19-Mar-05
A simple find. Many thanks.

18-Mar-05
A bus parked in the rest area added muggle interest to this otherwise straight forward cache.

I enjoyed this bag. Many thanks.

17-Mar-05
A fun bag. Many thanks.

Wow. Some where spaing in the pool au naturel in the rain.

14-Mar-05
It doesn’t get better than this, this is what it is all about. A great experience thank you very much.

A nice cache thank you. TITO (TB in TB out)

10-Mar-05
Greetings from Saudi Arabia. Took two attempts to do this one though the fault was mine. This is a straight forward bag.

09-Mar-05
Returned to it after a DNF. A little harder than I am used to for a 1*. Many thanks.
