Logs for EP79

Logging my DNF with a delay (still travelling, internet is not always available) and reading other logs, which sent a photo instead, it seems cache maintenance is in order.

Thank you for the cache! The final part of the Australian section of my trip with Ironford was in Sydney. We spent four full days here and really enjoyed our time. Today was our last day, and we were doing really well on time, so we decided to go on one more trip by ferry - to Cockatoo Island. We left from Barangaroo docks on our way there and returned to the main terminal on the way back, so we got A LOT of amazing city and harbour views. The island was a great place to explore and combine sightseeing and geocaching, and we also learned a bit about local history.Greetings from Prague, Czech Republic

Thank you for the cache! The final part of the Australian section of my trip with Ironford was in Sydney. We spent four full days here and really enjoyed our time. We couldn't miss this oldie, and we made a trip today to the park to get it. It was a wonderful walk - we barely met anybody else - and we saw amazing lizards everywhere. Greetings from Prague, Czech Republic

Thank you for the cache! The final part of the Australian section of my trip with Ironford was in Sydney. We spent four full days here and really enjoyed our time. Today we went to get the oldie in Lane Cove and then returned to the city for some shopping. We also stopped to get another of the TFTC series cache in the city centre. The contrast between the peaceful morning walk in Lane Cove and the bustling late-afternoon city was overwhelming.Greetings from Prague, Czech Republic

Thank you for the cache! The final part of the Australian section of my trip with Ironford was in Sydney. We spent four full days here and really enjoyed our time. Today, we took the ferry to Manly and then continued to Dee Why by bus and spent a lovely afternoon chillin' at the beach (at a beach bar, to be more precise ??). Then we took the cliff path over to North Curl Curl, which was a spectacular hike.We took it easy on geocaching today, so only got this one as a reminder of the locations we visited.Greetings from Prague, Czech Republic

Thank you for the cache! The final part of the Australian section of my trip with Ironford was in Sydney. We spent four full days here and really enjoyed our time. We spent today just cruisin' and chillin' in the Rocks and around famous locations, and we used the "TFTC Sydney" caches as a guide. It was a really nice combination of sightseeing and geocaching, and we also learned a bit about local history.Greetings from Prague, Czech RepublicA good hint and a quick find. The cottage is neat!

Thank you for the cache!Ironford and I came to Canberra for the MEGA event and other geocaching tours and events alongside it. It was an amazing week, and I enjoyed my time here very much. Today was our final full day in Canberra (driving to Sydney the next morning), so we made plans to get some awesome geo-highlights to mark the occasion. We spent some time in the centre, we did a bit of hiking in the bush (sooooo many kangaroos, and how they judge you, just quietly staring! ), and we went to Lake Burley Griffin at sunset and the light was just stunning.Greetings from Prague, Czech RepublicThis was a lovely, quiet, peaceful spot with beautiful views. Really glad to discover it through geocaching.

Thank you for the cache!Ironford and I travelled to Canberra for the MEGA, and we had a really lovely time. It was a great idea to have geocaching tours around the main event - we got to meet the local geocaching community, and we got a lot of advice and education, too.One Tree Hill was a beautiful area to explore. Thank you, DARKSIDEDAN, for guiding the tour and taking us to the caches along the way. Thank you all for making it such a great experience! I enjoyed the tour and all the caches very much. The view at the top of the hill was spectacular, and I was very happy to spot many kangaroos through the day. SmileGreetings from Prague, Czech Republic

It was a great idea to have geocaching tours around the main event - we got to meet the local geocaching community, and we got a lot of advice and education, too. I appreciated it very much, as Australia was a totally new environment for me, and some outdoor safety rules were so different from back home. That included: drop bears ??, widow makers, kangaroo mobs (if there's one 'roo, there'll be more), caution around snakes and spiders, the usefulness of gaiters (not gators), and a proper way to step over fallen logs (let's knock first to see if someone's home). All of this delivered with delightful cheek and banter. And we DID heed the advice during our further travels, it was definitely useful.Isaacs Ridge was a beautiful area to explore. Thank you, Tealby, for being a great and welcoming guide! Your idea to bring along those cool tissues for refreshment was brilliant. Thank you all for making it such a great experience! I enjoyed the tour and all the caches very much.

Thank you for the cache!Another day exploring and geocaching in New Zealand with my bestfriend geocacher Ironford. We are leaving Dunedin today, driving to Queenstown and flying to Canberra for the MEGA tomorrow. I have really enjoyed my time here, and I'll miss this place (and all of New Zealand) a lot.For today we planned to do some sightseeing and geocaching in Dunedin, then take a scenic drive north along the coast (it turned out great!), and reach Queenstown in the evening.Greetings from Prague, Czech Republic ??Monday mid-morning was a good time for this cache, almost no muggles, and thanks to the instructions in the listing the find was quick and smooth.

It was so unusual to see autumn flowers and coloured trees in March for me. Smile Our gardens back home are only just waking up for the spring.

Greetings from Prague, Czech Republic ??As for May 2nd 2000, that would have been towards the end of the semester at university (my second year), and I would be making plans for exams and for the summer, which I was going to spend in India. In total honesty, I couldn't have cared less about GPS at that time. Very Happy Well, look how the times have changed!

They are huge birds compared to the kind of seagull we have back home. Obviously, hilarity ensued when imagining the size of their droppings... luckily no direct evidence was gathered. Very Happy

Thank you for the cache!Another day exploring and geocaching in New Zealand with my bestfriend geocacher Ironford. We are staying in Dunedin for a few days and really enjoying our time here. Yesterday we went to see (actually sailed to see) the albatross colony, and today we have big geo-plans: some amazing oldies in great locations (the variety of landscape is fantastic), lots of driving on the left Smile and finally shopping for dinner and snackies in our favourite New World. It turned out to be a really great day.Greetings from Prague, Czech Republic OK, so, first - what exactly is a manuka tree, tussock, and flax? Very Happy This has been a constant struggle (but a pleasant one) during our trip - learning new plants, trees, and strange abbreviations in hints. My idea of flax is a cute little blue flower, not a massive clump of monster blades of grass... Very Happy Anyway, with a bit of googling, we figured out where to look, and the cache was fairly easy to reach.

We had a dog as a supervisor - he was with a family on the main path but came to check on us. Smile

Not my activity of choice... but it actually got better on the return journey - with a little bit of meandering around the thickest spots, it wasn't totally horrible. Very Happy The hike to the top of the hill was lovely, it was a fresh morning with lots of sunshine, bird song, lush vegetation, and spectacular views. Ironford was lucky to stumble upon the bucket after a fairly quick search, and I was thrilled to sign a year 2000 cache.

No luck with this one, unfortunately. We tried to use all the advice from previous logs, restarted the search several times following different instructions, but ultimately had to leave with no success. Most likely, we didn't search high enough up the slope - but then again, some people said it shouldn't be too high. Well, there's always next time...There was one amazing redeeming feature though - we were accompanied by a fantail bird, which joined us as we entered the trail along the creek, kept fluttering and twittering around us the whole time, and kept us company on our way back. It was such a delightful little creature!Another day exploring and geocaching in New Zealand with my bestfriend geocacher Ironford. It was a bit eerie in its desolation, but at the same time really beautiful. There was an annoyingly loud family walking around the lake - of all places they had to choose this spot for their outing - but as we walked faster, we had the trail to ourselves which only added to the whole experience.

Thank you for the cache!Another day exploring and geocaching in New Zealand with my bestfriend geocacher Ironford. We left Queenstown in the morning, rented a car, and Ironford took the wheel on the RIGHT to drive us on the LEFT to Dunedin. Initially, it felt really weird, but we got so used to it that switching to the "correct" side of the road later felt somehow wrong. Very Happy We made a few stops for caches and for amazing views during the day.Greetings from Prague, Czech Republic ??

The vastness and desolation of the country is incomparable to anything I have seen before. Very hard to imagine any sort of structures standing here. We tried to get as close to the coordinates as possible, but we hit patches of bracken and vegetation that made it very hard. It was impossible to see properly where to step. I suppose the location must have changed over the years with vegetation growing much thicker. We were not able to find any tracks.

Thank you for the cache!Another day exploring and geocaching in New Zealand with my bestfriend geocacher Ironford. We are staying in Queenstown for a couple days and making trips to various locations (Milford Sound, Mount Crichton Loop Track (unfortunately no caching there as we couldn't get a good signal anywhere and hadn't checked before, but still a good hike!), swimming in Lake Wakatipu), and - obviously - enjoying some geocaching time in the town. I really liked the walk in the town park with gorgeous views of the lake and the Remarkables.Greetings from Prague, Czech Republic ??

I've just recently finished a book about E. Shackleton - with R. Scott featuring massively in the story. This was great to discover here, leaving a favourite point.

Incredibly clear water, though.

Thank you for the cache!Another day exploring and geocaching in New Zealand with my bestfriend geocacher Ironford. We left Hokitika in the morning and travelled to Okarito Lagoon for some kayaking, which was really fun, and we had a great guide and learned a lot. The wetlands were amazing, a totally new type of landscape for me. We also climbed the Okarito Trig. The forest was wonderful, and we could hear so many bird sounds. We found the "national" blue mushroom which was on a NZ stamp! Greetings from Prague, Czech Republic ??It was interesting to learn about Guy Menzies - a great piece of history that we discovered totally by chance as we made a stop to stretch our legs.
