Hunter and I enjoyed walking about down here.

All the caches here are truly interesting. What a great place this is!

What are great place this is! I've been here only once before as a teenager. My son and I enjoyed walking around and taking photos.

Those jets taking off don't fit in with the scenery though!!

I'm loving earth caches at the moment. Learning new stuff all the time!

These earth caches are great.
So much I didn't know about ...life!

27-Aug-10
Cold, windy and cloudy up on Mount Cottrell on Friday. My wife, I and geopup were soon at the top.
Terrific views all around. I have never been up here and was only vaguely aware of "volcanoes" in the area.
A real eye opener for me. You've piqued my interest in earth caches for sure!

My first earthcache!!
As a boy I used to fish for gar fish of the rocks at low tide with my dad and brother. Summertime fun!!

...Cold and blowy down Willy backbeach today. Our pup didnt seem to mind as much as we did. She's always keen for a walk.
We were keen to get back to the car! So it was in and out in short time.

A very clever hide!
I wonder if they will ever finish the park or at least let people walk in.

It started teeming down right as we were slowing to stop. Sitting in the car with rain teeming down and traffic passing by way too fast for the conditions, (I was thinking of those U.S. police shows where they or their cruiser get hit from behind.lol) I decided it was too dangerous for my son to be out and about. I had a hunch where the cache was and drove the extra k's to park on top at Farm Rd. This proved a good idea as it had stopped raining by then and the traffic was ...us! I sent my son 'over' and 'down slightly' and he came up with a large grin and the goods.

A good cache for us.

A play ground with no equipment. hmm....lets scratch around in the dirt then!

No Dice.

Is this cache still 'alive'??
I suspect that it's not.

We will await verification that its still there before attempting again.

Found at 2:10 pm

I used to live in Wembley Avenue as a boy.
Lots of memories for me here. The High School is long gone but the State School is still there.
I must have crossed the foot bridge hundreds and hundreds of times back then. (2 more today!)

Another good hide. We left an aussie flag magnet and signed the log.

Our last for today. Both geo-kids had a play on the equipment, geo-wife took geo-pup for ANOTHER walk!
As I write this geo- pup is sleeping!! A big day for everyone!

A good hide. We had to wait for some walkers to pass. In I went and retrieved it. Hunter took yellow rubber man
and left a keychain with aboriginal art, 2 aussie flag magnets and some of his "motivational stickers".

We crossed the ford which was at 30cm... according to the depth gauge.
I've heard stories about this place... all in the way way past admittedly. It seems to be "cleaner" than I remember. My son and I ran out of light on a previous visit and came back today with the whole family. (my plan to appear as dog wallking muggles!) There was a pair of white slip on shoes near by, I'm sure they were not there last time we came.
(Hmm... those stories again!) No one was around today though and we got the cache fairly easily. We even walked further on just to have a good look around.

It really is a nice area.

My son and I searched, it was me that spotted it and retrieved it. The log book is FULL.

Hunter and I finally found it. I noticed the log book was a litle damp. It seems the bag/container does not seal properly.
I watched the exchange take place. We replaced the cache as found.

My first log!
Thanks 'maccamob'. A great cache.

My son and I met up with 'Old Wine Bottle' at the carpark. A short search revealed the spot. We couldn't get the cache out and light was fading. 'Old Wine Bottle' saved the day when he produced and bent a piece of wire into a hook of sorts. I signed and my son placed it back as found. This was the first of many caches for my son and I. We loved it!
We will be better prepared from here on in thanks to tips, hints and general help provided by 'Old Wine Bottle'. This was a great experience/introduction to geocaching for us.

Thanks 'Old Wine Bottle'.
