Logs for murmeltier

Mist.

Some month ago, I found this challenge
http://coord.info/GC4642W Cache Challenge: Maximum Distance (find 2 caches with the maximum distance on earth) (20000 km)
First thought that's easy. I've been in Spain and NZ (2004) for caching and this seems to match.
But ... there are about 80 km missing to solve the challenge above.
The only way is to go to Spain (1000 km from home) or visit NZ again and look for a matching cache.
My challenge is to visit NZ again and solve the challenge above. Let's see!

Found the cache easy, but couldn't retrieve it because of some nearby muggles.
After the disappeared, I could sign the log.

Today I took the Yamanote Line to Shinagawa and switched to the Keihin-Tohoku Line to Yokohama. I started a little walk (23 km) to find some caches in this area.
It took a while to find this one. Removing the cache, the magnet was separated by the box. I fixed it with self adhesive tape, but the owner should try to fix it better.
Thanks for the cache

Stage 1 was blocked by not friendly looking muggles. So I gave up.

This was also the second attempt for this cache. Yesterday we weren’t allowed to go into the park. The security was absolutely strict.
Today it was hard to reach the cache, because of many muggles near the cache.
After a while I managed it.
Thanks for the cache and the nice place.
Reiner aka murmeltier

found this cache today on the second attempt. Yesterday the terrain was locked. After a while I found the box, but it was a bit strange to search for a cache at such a place. But nobody asked me what I’m doing there.
Thanks for this quiet place near the very busy touristic spot.

This well, called Brackeborn, is placed near Roth / Germany where I lived for the first 12 years of my life. In this time we often visited this wonderful place with our parents.
The coordinates of this well are: N50 42.720 E8 41.796
Thanks for this cache.

After finding a place for the night we found 250 meter away the waypoint of this cache. So we took a little walk to the cache position, and found it without problems. The weather was not very good, so we had no problems with geo-muggles. Thanks to GoGranny for this cache.

We came not via the Ninety Miles Beach. The road was so awfull, that I nearly gave up. The poor campervan. At the end we reached the cache and found it without problems. After that, we drove 1 mile of the 90 miles beach, and took the gravel road backto the 1F, where we continued to Cape Reinga.
Thanks to the Hairy Little Dwarf for that experience.

We reached this point after some strange kilometers gravel road. The poor campervan. Many people there, but we haven’t to search for a real box.
The logbook is no more at his place. Instead I found a key where the logbook should be.
Thanks for this cache

We found this cache after a short walk along the lake. It was guarded by some birds, which where disturbed by us.
Everything in the cache was a bit wet, so we dried it as good as possible.
The sheet for the logs is completely filled. Peejay, you should add a new logbook to the cache.
Thanks for hiding it.

On our way to this cache, that is placed near the motorcamp we have been for 2 days, we met 3 geocachers that visited the cache yust bofore us. They saw our Garmin and asked us 'do you search the cache'. Nice place for a cache.
Thanks to Klaymen.

It was a bit complicated to drive up the hill on this hot and sunny day. But finally we found the way with our campervan. We enjoyed the
View to the harbour, and found the cache exactly at the given coordinates. It was a bit muddy, so we cleaned it. Now it is in good condition again.

We found the place, and I think we found the right position.
But we found no box. It might be that the box is lost.
Thanks for showing us the interesting oak road.

We came here to see one place of 'Lord of the Rings'. We where happy to find a cache nearby. After a short walk we found it without problems. Everything in the box was rather wet, so we dried it as good as possible. The sheet with the description of Rivendale is wet and not yet readable. It should be replaced.
Thanks for this cache.

We saw the cache in the GPS from the RH2 and want to have the great view of the summit. What a road to it! I always want to go a real gravel road during our holidays in NZ. That's it. At the end of the road we had a wonderful view (also to the road we have to go down). It was no problem finding the cache. The only problem was the strong wind. We thought that our campervan starts to glide.
Thanks NZWIDE for leading us to this point. We surely hadn't come to it without the cache.

After breakfast, we directly drove the this nice recreation area. But what a pity, one bridge was closed because of the heavy rain in February. So we had to go a little more by feet.

We walked along the old trail line and found the place. After using the hint, I think we found the the place where the cache should be. But we didn`t find it. Instead we found an zip lock plastic bag, in whitch the caches of Moneydork normally are packed. It might be that the cache has been stolen. Could someone who knows the cache side check it?

It's a long time ago that I heard about this famous man in school and during studying in Germany.
I didn't know that he came from NZ. Thanks to Steve and Ruth for this cache, and the confirmation of our answer.
Otherwise we would have missed to dtop at the monument.

The walk was a little bit longer because the bridge and the last 1km was closed. We found the box quite easy. With the coordinates out of the box it was no problem to find the hot spring. I build a little dam and I sit in the little pool. I didn't mix the water with the cold water from the river. The temperature was quite OK.
Thanks for this extraordinary cache.

We found the cache with the hint very easy. The only problem was to hide it after loging. In the mean time some girls came to swim at this place.
Thanks to Moneydork for this scenic view. (We didn't swim)

We took the wrong car park, so we had a nice walk at the beach. It was a little bit difficult to reach the cache due to the camping people nearby. At least we managed it.
Thanks for showing us this nice beach.
After the cache we visited Lake Matheson, but there where too many dugs, so we couldn't get good pictures with the mirror of the mountains.
