Logs for Dippedidooda

21-Apr-24
Out on a jog, so checked on cache and all good at GZ. I'd kind of forgotten to check on WP1 and it might be missing - but i've decided it is unnecessary as once you know where, just walk to the summit and you'll find the booty! Have edited description accordingly.

Keeping my eye on next log. I am rarely up this way now...so if the next log is a DNF I will archive.

Tree has gone. Sorry, this one has ended, and Whitwebbs hid another to replace it I think?

Cache replaced. Good to go again.

Spending a delightful few days on Three Hummock with friends over Easter. Whilst I have cached very infrequently over the last few years I tend to think of it when I visit an unusual place. After being dropped by the caretakers near the base of South Hummock, we walked to the summit, then down to Eleanor's Bay and then back to the homestead, a total of 14km. On approaching the trig, I wondered about the possibility of a trig cache, and then today found there was indeed one. My photo is from the trig looking north-west towards the homesteads with the tip of Hunter Island behind. The island is truly delightful to visit, experiencing such an isolated but beautiful place with a varied and interesting history. And to come across this unfound-for-13-years TP cache was a surprise - I guess that's a FTF. Assuming no one disputes it as the trig wasn't actually in the photo. But that wouldn't worry me.
Track is very easy to follow. Some views restricted due to tree growth but overall, a great walk.

Went for a jog on the track just an alternative stop to break up the journey. So I stopped and checked this cache which was perfectly dry and in good condition. I'm sorry to say though, that Fencing Fred has lost his head!

I don't really geocache much any more. For a good while I was running a dog twice a week while his owner was away and he was being minded by a non-runner nearby. He's now back with his owner at Blackmans Bay, but you cant keep a good team down, and I've been able to take him out for an explore occasionally in that area! Lovely big circuit today and heading along the track I just spotted a corner of it in its hiding spot by accident. Haha - Reborn Cyclist and his cursed puzzles, one that i would probably never have solved! Ages since I've signed a log - thanks RBC I loved that track.

Well its a long time between caches but i was up here on a big jog and walk as part of a bigger loop. As I was taking photos I guessed there'd be a TP cache. Gorgeous views. Thanks.
Is it really 6 years since it's been logged?

Wellington Park didnt want people to find a geocache at this location due to its historical significance and sesnsitivity within the landscape. But its marked on wellington park map and open to the public. I was willing to work with them to come up with a mutually agreeable solution but they took the cache. I gave up.

Oops i still need to check whether Ranger Ben took this cache also.

Land owner (HCC) was understandably concerned about the sensitivity of the site- and took away the container before any discussions about an altered placement further away. A new cache attracts so many more visitors than just altering cache placement. Regardless, you only have to read the logs to see how people have appreciated it. Oh well, I gave up.

Tried to escape the rain for a winter solstice run. Was lightly misting and no sunrise to speak of. Still better tban a nude solstice swim. Long time between caches for me but there you go. And its got so few logs!

OK, so it turns out that the kerfuffle has originated from HCC and i have now been contacted by a Wellington Parks officer who is liaising with the Heritage Officer who has some concerns about caches that are placed close to some of the more sensitive locations of historical significance around Wellington Park. So I am currently in discussions with them about the placement of these caches and disabling them while this is occurring. I was talking with Ranger Ben who can be contacted at [email protected]

Just over 7 years since the Angel cache heralded the wonderful Christmas in July event in the warmth of the hut while it gently snowed outside. Since then she's lost her head but not her wings, people said she looked a bit worse for wear. She was pristine inside though. Amazing. Nevertheless, byebye, Angel of the Springs ☺

Stump and cache have indeed gone. Derwent views remain, cache does not. Still enjoy jogging this track. Open for a new cache now.

Wow in the 13 years since i hid this cache, i think i've got older! It seemed like quite the precarious scramble to get to it. Container was broken, and as i am seldom down this way any more, am archiving it.

This cache has been a bit problematic with getting water in it and given i am seldom down this way anymore, i have decided to archive it. A great place to take in the views - now open if someone else wishes to place a cache somewhere nearby!

Went and checked. Gone and i'm not down this way regularly any more so archiving.

Seems like its gone. I liked this one but it will be farewell.

08-Nov-18
Will disable until i can go check it out.

Sounds like this one has gone walkabout.

27-May-18
Went for a walk today even though the word was that there wasn't any water left, and well, there was a little bit. It was nice to visit again. Considering the last DNF log I thought I'd also check as I had found it before but no luck. (But it's a number of years since finding it and all those rocks do look very similar so I wouldn't rule it out...but if it's still there it's got very well hidden)

12-Mar-18
Replaced cache with a new container and log. Good to go again.

26-Jan-18
Replaced log with a new waterproof paper one.

found couple of spots matching hint but no cache.

Two in one day - i'm on a roll. actually on a jog. nearly had to climb in to retrieve. so tried to replace not so far down. thanks for the cache oldsaint. now to continue my jog. ☺

ok, so its a long time between finds but i was trying to tidy/consolidate into one box my geocaching bits and pieces so then i thought i'd have a look on the site. saw that this one was close to home and i was heading to the farmers market so i popped and got it. Thanks for the hunt and nicely camouflaged cache. It takes a while for some to become equally keen for GCA seems like you have! ☺

Came for a walk today with visting friend from china. I couldnt remember finding it in its "new" location but to my surprise, there was my name in the logbook from 2 years ago! One tree fallen but the hide is perfect and that is such a good container, all perfectly dry inside. Thanks again, always enjoy the walk.

Bah humbug, I walked up this track and specifically wanted to check on this one. But I was taking a friend up the track and overshot this location myself! So I still have to come back to check on its status.

Checked on this one. Despite the snowy surrounds, all good here.

I walked up here a couple days ago in the snow - and because of it, it took a bit of finding the cache(s). But boy it was lovely. I ummed and ahhed about which cache container to take away and thought seeing the original container still seemed fine and the logbook went back to 2006, it seemed more historical to leave the original (I guess I should have taken the logs from the "replacement" one out and put them in/glued them in). I can do that next maintenance visit!

01-Aug-17
As I'm not in this area much any more, I have decided to archive the cache (along with my visits)!

Replaced log, unfortunately the little pen I brought along was a couple mm too long so it's still BYO pen for the time being.

29-Jul-17
I set off for a jog ar 5pm, i dont know what possessed me to stop and find a cache when i havent in probably months, but i found it, now i'll have to go jogging nearer home with my headtorch - bit late here now. No pen, so photo of log attached. Hope thats ok. Ta!

15-Jul-17
Temporarily disabling for a couple weeks till i get back from holidays. Pencil and log need replacing.

09-Jul-17
Sounds like its MIA. Will disable while i decide its future.

06-Jun-17
I just happened to be jogging in this area (or with the cache decided that was a good location for my jog) especially now that i'm a worker in the area! I love this track and have been on it quite a bit. Nice cache, nice location, thanks!

14-May-17
Sorry GoldJ, not this year. I will be in Ireland Smile
Have fun.

On a 100km walk, (over a week), and was standing at the lookout and thought, i bet there's one nearby. Sure enough, 10 m away. Very cleverly costructed and placed. Thanks. On holiday from tassie.

Loved this walk circuit, what a spot to come and explore. Some interesting rock formations at the top of Australia Hill and I loved the mossy paths that led down. Cache was in a nice neat hide, and in perfect condition. Thanks CraigRat.

22-Jan-17
I'd left the Blue Tiers and couldn't resist finding The Blue Tears (when I realised it was close to where I was driving by). Nice hide away from the main muggle areas. Cache in good condition. Thanks Snuva.

Had been to St Helens Sports Carnival, so came for a drive the next morning and found ourselves here. Beautiful day, lovely scenery. Thanks for the cache.

After I'd done the Australia Hill circuit, I finished off with the quick walk up this hill. Magnificent views on a gloriously warm day. I was heading back down (luckily just 80m back down) when I remembered that I hadn't looked for the cache!!! So back up i went and the cache was soon in hand. I was surprised at how many muggle entries there were, including a couple of fellas who'd climbed up there at 10.30pm at night. Thanks for a top cache/fantastic spot, aloysius7.
