Logs for Pipi and Kina

31-May-15
Hundreds of miles away from the cache.... disabling it.

Nowhere near cache to do anything about it, the disabling.....

01-Dec-13
Will log our visit on here, however, was so excited in showing new cachers what fun it was to partake in such a hobby, that we forgot to sign the Log Book!! A senior moment indeed Big Grin With simple directions and telling him to work it out for himself, it took an 8 year old boy to find the cache easily by counting!! TFTC

No luck with this cache. The surroundings and undergrowth have had a major overhaul and a large amount of landscaping has taken place. In fact all we saw was one rooster. Rat traps everywhere!! As we pass by regularly we may have another go at finding this cache another day Wink

Almost stood on our heads to find this cache, but to no avail!! Sat on the bus seat, and every man and his dog passed by, but thank god, no buses. Literally felt all over the lower part of the shelter and really do wonder now if a muggle could have found it and disposed of it. Will keep an eye on this cache then..... as I pass by to work, at 6am in the morning!!

17-Mar-13
Found very quickly and the sun was shining brightly..... lucky we could count!!! TFTC

Wow the 'tide was out' ... Lake Taupo was the lowest we had ever seen. Our two wee boys enjoyed their view being King of their Domain for their five minutes of fame!! TFTC

Happened to be passing, so quick find. Somebody left the wee white pencil on the ground below the tree so that made it simpler to log in the teeny weeny logbook. TFTC

Almost a Trout pout because we could not find it, but then reading the clue again, we easily worked it out. Very clever hiding place. TFTC

08-Feb-13
Found fairly easily, on our way back from shopping in Whangarei. Pays one to enter the north side of the tree, less hazards!! Good idea to take a First Aid Kit tho... Razz
Took nothing out, left an old Sports Medallion. TFTC

07-Feb-13
We had a choice of car, or quad bikes, or on foot. We chose to be on foot!! Two minutes from our home, we discovered this cache. Very easy find, but am not so sure about the "abandoned structure"?? This little corner of the world is very much alive all hours of the day and night with trains constantly using all tracks. Even while we were writing out the log, a local, known to us, stopped and asked what we were doing!! There is not an abandoned structure in the vicinity of the cache!! However, it was fun to go and squiz after such a long time. Cache was in good condition and dry. Take your own writing implement tho..... there was only the log paper in the cache itself!! [^]

16-Mar-11
Glad to see this coin is now over in the Great Southern Land, enjoying the sun....ironically, at present at the Pony Club. We have miniature horses ourselves, so we could not think of a nicer place for the travelling coin to rest awhile!!

27-Nov-09
When we placed that cache in the area it is now at, there was a very nice resting place for weary travellers. However, eventually all over NZ one sees the rubbish and the filth and the mentality of this country becoming worse and worse. After all, it is being taken over by you-know-who so the decline is becoming more obvious day by day. This is why we have ceased to participate in Geocaching anymore. No matter where you place a cache these days, someone follows behind and relieves themselves, without a thought for anyone else who may stop for a few minutes. Having spent twenty years on different turf overseas, we sure had our eyes opened when we returned, as to the decline of hygiene around the great outdoors in NZ and it does not help much when the Councils refuse to place rubbish bins or toilets at popular Rest Areas. New Zealand is becoming one big smelly rubbish dump!!! Unfortunately many visitors to this country do not seek out toilets in the nearest Town but choose to use a wayside area to relieve themselves, so it is not always the natives of this country. Many are too lazy to go that bit further to complete the task properly. But with no indication as to where the next Pit Stop is, no wonder many choose to sully the areas on the roadside. So do not blame the geocacher for the mess around the cache thankyou.

18-Oct-09
Congratulations to Graeme.N for finding the cache after such a lengthy time.......would be ideal for other cachers to have more than one to find out there on the coast. Will make it a worth while trip........Happy Caching. Smile

15-Aug-09
We flew past this one and suddenly realised that there was a cache here. Well we looked in all the wet soggy places and did not find it. Been a long time since it was discovered, and the gardens have been re-arranged since then too..............so who knows.........good luck to others.......

Had stuff collected from other caches in the Wairarapa, so decided to drop off something into this cache while heading to town. Could say we have not found this one before because it was not this high up the bank last time. Green Eagle, it is Limeburners, NOT Limebuners. Oh boy.......

- TN
+ placed two "silver" goblets
TFTC again

Very easy find. Had to rid a snotty muggle puffing like a steam train on the seat. Banjo (the doggie) did that, by getting rather close with leg held high....!! Wow the park was impressive. Had been 40 years since Pipi had been there. Am eyeing the silver beet......hehe This will probably be our last cache for another year. Big Grin

Have walked past this cache a hundred times or more. My sis and I (Pipi) make it a regular event on sunny days with the dog. I knew there was a cache here and always meant to seek it out. This time Kina came with me. Easily found. Albeit very wet with water inside the plastic container. Log book very damp. Would have done something about it, but did not have anything with me peejay. Great place for a cache tho.....

+ "Silver" Goblet......ex Suicide Rock (Wairarapa) over a year ago.

And if Tramper Ted reads this, or someone tells him......Yes he is correct. The track was an old railway line from Onerahi (down by the yacht club) to Whangarei. The bridges are actually the original structures underneath. The large bridge went across into Port Road. Lots of history around that area.

14-Jul-09
Well, at over two days drive away from this cache and no longer living in the area, the log book will have to remain damp and soggy. Other than someone kindly replacing the log book for us instead of moaning about it, we may consider archiving the caches that we have placed around the Wairarapa. However, the thoughtfulness of one or two cachers keeping an eye out for us, so far many of our caches have been able to remain in tact. Thank you to those very few....[^]

07-Feb-09
Well we assure you the cache was NEVER in a pill-like bottle. So whatever you found does not have anything to do with the cache we initially had hidden in that vicinity.

28-Jan-09
Gorse my foot!!!!! Tis an Australian Protective Bush, protecting a cache. What a lot of wooses you are........[8]

27-Jan-09
No longer in the vicinity to maintain this cache.......[xx(]

16-Jan-09
Looks like this cache has taken a permanent walk. Happy caching elsewhere......[xx(]

07-Jan-09
Well thank you Butterfly Lady. Cool Obviously another considerate cacher wished to see this cache continue for others. We do appreciate the care given to this cache to get it up and running again. Happy New Year to you all......[^]

03-Jan-09
Am enabling this cash for others to find......not being in the area anymore, we are hoping someone else might like to keep an eye on it...Razz

02-Jan-09
May as well enable this cache again so others may seek it out. Looks like it is there after all.....however we are no longer in the area to maintain it, so hope someone will keep an eye on it..........

31-Dec-08
Looks like this cache is still there after much ado.......am re-instating it, but we are no longer in the area to maintain it. Happy caching.....

29-Dec-08
Looks like another one bites the dust. Happy caching to all in 2009. Cheers....Big Grin

18-Dec-08
Another one bites the dust. Sad Happy caching.....elsewhere........

04-Dec-08
Thank you MalcolmB and nutcase99 for responding to the closure of this cache. Because of your concern and willingness to see that the cache remains for other cachers, I have reopened it. Thank you very much both of you. Happy Caching in the Wairarapa, lets hope one day someone else will place caches in that Valley for others enjoyment.Cool

25-Nov-08
No longer in the area to manage our caches. If someone wants to replace the log book, then we will activate this cache once more. Thank you.....Smile

Looks like this cache is no longer here, and we are also no longer in the area.........sorry folks, it seems that no one else wants to place caches around the Wairarapa, so they are dying a slow death....Wink

28-Apr-08
Kindly direct your comments re the positioning of the two caches to the Geocaching Constabulary thank you, J'N'K. We know they are in the Waiararapa, however, obviously others on the Board of Directors, do NOT!!!!!! We did question it ourselves initially, but to no avail.

Decided to not renew this cache. The circumstances are not suitable. Thank you one and all for your visits to this micro when it was available. Happy Caching Big Grin

26-Mar-08
Throwing another cache into the Trash can. Sorry folks, we are not going to replace this cache. Laughed at the childish comment placed re 'too close to the Toilets'. You are lucky we actually put it where we did.....Big Grin Happy caching everyone.........

01-Mar-08
Yipppppeeeee.......FTF...on a fabulous calm day, the Bay looked like a Mill Pond. Great hide ADV, and Kina knew what a half round meant...Wink...thank god, or we may have been there longer than necessary. We did not venture any higher up into the Putangirua Pinnacles. Will let another cacher beat us to that one. We had bumped our way up the riverbed once before on our quad bikes. A great hiding place for a cache. Thx ADV 4 another great cache.
In...Party Popper and a Trout Fly
Out...Viking Geocoin

Dropped this lovely Viking Geocoin off after a trip out to Palliser Bay to try out another "big boy's toy".......and of course another successful geocaching find. [:o)]

Oh dear ryanja, you have us slightly worried!!!! Surprised You have failed to mention that you brought the girlfriends' back down, and out of the Gully. LOL....Should all cachers be on the alert when they venture into the area???? Big Grin

17-Feb-08
Decided to stop quickly at this cache to add two Travel Bugs, on our trip back from Auckland. Too busy in the big smoke to worry about caching, we did not get to dispose of them way up there. Wink Bob the Penguin wanted to attempt tobogganing down the slopes of Mt Ruapehu and was hoping some kind cacher would take him up amid the clouds to let him slip and slide his way back down.....
The Generic Geocoin would like to be moved on into the great beyond..........Razz

10-Feb-08
Found this one easily when we lengthened our paces...Big Grin Took a bit of doing tho, coz the GPS almost danced itself off the planet!! Plenty of exciting goodies in the cache. In....Party Popper and Spirit of Holiday Geocoin
Out...Bob The Penguin TB and Generic Geocoin. TFTC

09-Feb-08
Decided not to continue on with this Cache. It would eventually need to be adopted anyway, for obvious reasons, so have archived it instead. Cool

Yipppppeeeee FTF. Was surprised tho, as this cache had been sitting out at X Creek for a few days. Goes to show us all, that without that map of NZ that we used to depend on conveniently pinpointing all caches, one does not always realise there is a cache newly placed. Pity really. Sad

Excellent place for a cache. Easy narrow track, altho high up above the Creek at times, balancing on the side of the hill. BEWARE of Mountain Bikers. We were almost knocked off the track more than once as they came flying up and down the hilly track without a care in the world!!!! Not just one or two, but at least 10 spasmodically whizzed past us, and we had to lean against the upper banks to stop from being pushed off the path. Surprised Banjo had to be grabbed by the scruff of his neck each time and hoisted out of harms way. Seemed we picked a day when they were having the Hutt Valley M. B. Club Race. But it is a very popular "race track" for some it seems!!
Great history about the Fell Railway, once you have reached GZ. We thoroughly enjoyed finding this cache. TFTC....In Party Popper....Out....Spirit of the Holidays Coin

02-Feb-08
Left this post a while longer because we saw in the Log Book where nzcoozer had been this same day, but before us. Was no TB in the cache so hope he is the one to have taken it, as his log neglected to mention having done so. Wink Great spot for a cache ADV. Funniest part was......we did not need a GPS because ironically Banjo our dog walked right to it. Kina close on his heels tho in case he went over the bank. Razz Bush Lawyer caught Kina as he sidled thru the shrubs. Lovely views and a beautiful windless day. TFTC
In....Party Poppa and a Yoyo
Out...Nowt Twisted

GenCuster.......wooooooooo hooooooooo we can do one better than you. Kina drives the one and only Big Wine Tanker for the Martinboro Bottling Company that bottles the wine from the many Vineyards in Martinboro and beyond. All we need is a ladle sometimes, when he parks the "beast" outside our backdoor for the night!!!!! Big Grin Good on you. Sounds as tho you had a marvellous day. Tis what caching is all about. Cool

27-Jan-08
Not going to replace this cache, as it seems it is too easy to vandalise. Happy Caching.....Big Grin

We knew the right gate.....Big Grin, because we have sped up and down the river in the boat many times. Drove right up to the cache, within 1 metre of it anyway!! Beautiful arvo, but very windy. Was an easy find. Nice sized container for wee treasures.
Out....Tape Measure
In.....Party Poppa, Antz on a Skateboard and Chinese B/Opener (but opens more than chinese bottles)...Twisted

19-Jan-08
No time to go and check this cache at the moment. In the process of heading north to check properties for a big move.......the winterless north is beckoning..Big Grin Will take a trip out to the beach on our return. In the meantime, thank you to all the cachers that have informed us of the loss. Happy Caching

01-Jan-08
Decided to drop Fox the Trout TB off in this new cache. His constant yapping had driven us nuts on the return journey from Tora, so took the opportunity to dispose of him....Cool

A FTF on the FIRST day of the Year 2008. Big Grin Hair pin bends and a part metal road just clinging to the sides of the hills in some places, tended to make the passenger's stomach churn once or twice. But the spectacular 360° views included the ocean several kms away. Easily discovered and in a great hiding place, the co-ords for the cache were spot on. Beautiful day but very windy. Unfortunately Fox the Trout TB could not fit in the container and he would have ended up a squishy mess if we had insisted. Red Face Lo and Behold…………we were stopped by two Fishery Officers on our return trip from Tora. High on a hill, they insisted on searching our vehicle, and checking in the Esky. The disappointed look on their faces made me think of Fox. I instantly produced the TB for them to measure and check for weight and size. Both men ended up with cheeky looks and let us go on our merry way. Fox lives on………but I am sure it was only coz I put my finger over his mouth to shut him up. Razz

Another one bites the dust...!!!!! [:(!] We went to check on this cache this evening, and could not find it ourselves. The area was in complete disarray. Looked like someone had used the hidey hole for a step to clamber up the Wattle Tree. Sad Oh well..... we will have to re-think this one and place another cache soon within the same vicinity as it proved to be a popular 'passing-by' cache. Wink
