#1900A mini milestone for me as I hit 1900. Just goes to show how little caching I have done since the awards night last year which was my 1800 mini milestone! Whats funny is I didnt even plan or realise it until I got home. A great night had by all. Attended with my daughter Ge0_Bug whilst The Welder stayed at home and held the fort with remaining kids! Happy birthday GVI!

#1898We arrived in Port Macquarie last night and have set up camp for the week. But not long after we set up the rain started and so up went the annex as well! A nice sleep in and a lazy morning was had by all at camp before we started to do some local site seeing. Its sure a pretty place! Only cache for us today but found with The Welder, Ge0Bug and Ge0-Ninja whilst the pupster barked at us drawing attention from any stealth mode the family may have had. Thanks for the cache.

#1897Second day of driving for our family holiday. Up from Melbourne and heading to Port Macquarie. Not long to go now: we could have done the last leg, but this is as high as The Welder and I have driven or should I say its a brand new LGA for us to cache in. We needed a quick stop as camper was still in tow and we want to set up before the sun goes down. This mumma decided to let the kids go in hunt of the cache but after both Ge0Bug missed it and Ge0-Ninja was more interested in the puffer fish nearby I circled and waited to see what The Welder would do.. he too was walking in circles with his internal gps bouncing as it tried to remember what this caching game is about lol! Oh well, time to hone in on the treasure! Was interested to read of the history of this town and reflect of what was and what was left. The cycles of life and all the changes that follow. Thanks for the cache.

#1896Now you know you are on holidays when you get a cache! Sadly the last cache The Welder and I got was when we went to the Canberra Megabut finally its family road-tripping holiday after what has been a tough year. Happy to sign into this cache with The Welder and my two minis Ge0Bug and Ge0-Ninja and of course our fur baby Ally who is having her first family holiday. Camper in tow tonight we head to Goulburn for an overnighter before we head to the beautiful Port Macquarie. Bring it on!

#1895First cache since April. Yes life happens like that sometimes. But today The Welder and I found ourselves on a special errand to Mornington to collect a beautiful gift. A treasure not just for now but for a generation. And so like old traditions go, moments like this should be celebrated with a cache. Although we are sadly out of practice. This has been sitting in my solved pile for many years and was an early Covid puzzle solve but its taken all these years later to find my way down this way to collect it. On eventually collecting the cache, I sat and paused admiring the view. We soaked up the rays of the sun a moment of glimmer. Thanks both for the puzzle and bringing us to this beautiful location.

Despite best endeavours, I couldnt pull off a magic trick to get there. Juggling sick kids. Was really hoping to come and say hi and celebrate. Best wishes for a good event!

I have barely been to an event other Canberra mega in last year. Actually I have barely cached. But this event may be doable at a train park with a life time of memories. Will am to be there! Thanks Omegaman1971

#1894Having driven up from Melbourne for the Canberra GeoBash Mega, The Welder and I decided to head up further north for a few nights staying in Umina Beach and even make it as far as Frying Pan in Dungog, one of Australias oldest caches. But its now the downward trip home with some big long drives. Last night we stayed in Cowra and today our destination is back home in Melbourne. But there is no better way to break up the trip with some caches particularly as there as still some LGAs in NSW we dont have. This will likely be the last one before we cross the border into Victoria. As the sun goes down we reflect on the awesome week we have had with 27 new NSW LGAs collected! Now for the long drive back to Melbourne.

#1872Having driven up from Melbourne for the Canberra GeoBash Mega, The Welder and I are decided to head up further north for a few nights. We are a little excited, as normally our busy brady bunch family keep us busy and at best afford us to take a weekend away. But with lots of planning 18 months in advance, we have managed to get a whole week away together. A first for sure! Despite the rain, we have some caching to do, so off we go! Our main target today was Frying Pan, one of Australias oldest caches, which we can happily say now has a big smily. We are also just collected other caches in various LGAs as we meander back to camp. All is well at the cache. Thanks for the hide.

Its been a long day, caching along the way. But this is the last stop so hopefully we will get to Cowra by midnight. Found was made by The Welder tonight. Thanks for the cache.

#1871When The Welder and I realised that we had a kid free Easter and it was Mega weekend in Canberra we hatched a plan. Now with our crazy brady bunch existence, this has been 18 months in the planning. Normally Easter and school holidays is all about the kids and as we have kids coming and going it can get a little crazy. But on this occasion with some sweet talking (actually tough negotiation) we managed to not just score Easter but a few days the following week totally kid free!! What to do what to doNow we live in the out skirts of Melbourne so with us booking in Mega plans in Canberra I looked at The Welder with a big grin and said, I have a plan. Now at this time, he looked at me cautiously I said, what cache do you most wanna collect The Welder said well Frypan of course. Flippantly I responded and said. Well isnt Canberra halfway to Frying Pan? Now after planting that seed, it didnt take long to lock it in and wait for the time to pass. Despite 18 months in the planning, life happened and continued to throw things our way that made us wonder if we were actually going to be able to pull the trip off. It was only the few months before we saw a glimmer our hope that it may come to fruition. We fast forward to now, after a great time at the Mega, we drive and camped at Umina Beach last night with a view of doing the rest of the drive to frying pan today. But whats an adventure without a little weather driving up we got torrential rain possibly the remnants of the NT Cyclone pushing south easterly in our direction. As we started the long windy climb to gz we cautiously turned each corner knowing that some of our friends had encountered some unfriendly logging trucks, thankfully for us, we only encountered one and it was not the one that had me squealing in horror! Onwards we pushed through the eerie but beautiful fog. But the scenery drive was short with the wet and sticky clay and rocks were the graders had been churning up sections of the road. We envisage they got sick of the rain and called it quits leaving their graders in the center of the track for us to dodge. Finally we arrived at GZ and could set out to get this much sought after cache. This cache has been on our to do list for many many years. What makes this extra special is that it is the last one the Welder needs for his Jasmer, having picked up the other required caches in the USA many years back. Celebrations of signing the log could only be done after a ceremonial dance or should I say a unceremonious strip and scream back at the car to remove all the leaches that had decided to come on the adventure with us! Blah!! Hate leaches! Once we regained our composure (or should I say my composure) we were able to stop and enjoy the beautiful views. I was particularly taken by the small wrens and petite birds that danced around us showing off their delightful colours. I paused and reflected how much my Nan loved these birds. Now in theory, Frying Pan is about 1100km from home as far as the crow flies and Canberra is half way. But as a geocacher drives it was more like 1500km from home! Thanks so much for maintaining this cache in such a beautiful part of the world. Im glad we finally made it as there were so many times this trip was not going to happen. A big favourite from me.

But with lots of planning 18 months in advance, we have managed to get a whole week away together. A first for sure! So as we head to our next destination, we have carefully planned a route so that we can collect some new LGAs as well. But not only are they new LGAs but places neither of us have been to before, so we are looking forward to visiting some new places. As we pulled up to collected this cache, I was greeted by a call by my daughter to wish me Happy birthday! She wondered what I was doing well caching of course! Isnt that the best way to spend your birthday? Roadtripping and caching! All is well at the cache. Thanks for the cache
