Logs for outward bound

12-Oct-06
What is the actual date of "childrens day"?

04-Oct-06
Replaced cache container. I note the sculpture is down for maintenance for an undisclosed period.

30-Sep-06
Found on the way to Rangipo, good thing we did that as 2 buses parked on the corner when we came back and would have prevented us searching. TFTC +-0

Stopped 4 lunch en route home. GPS didnt like the trees, but the clue helped a lot. Cache a little damp. +_ 0 TFTC

29-Sep-06
Clever container, will steal idea. +-0. Many Trout, looked tempting. TFTC

Now realise the puns involved with cache title, page contents and clues. Groan. TFTC

26-Sep-06
Nice spot, thanks Steve. +_0 TFTC

Found with the help of my kids, (who enjoyed the hunt even though they think geocaching is dorky!) -Geocoin + Tape

25-Sep-06
You could see forever, well it seemed like it.
+giant green chalk
- nothing

24-Sep-06
Enjoyed the legend , thnaks for seting this up. Found after a enjoyable MTB ride along riverbank. TNLN

What a lovely spot. The track up to the lake is like a motorway its been made so well. Its a slow steady climb but quite easy to do. Nice big cache. TFTC.

Baby swans are seriously cute animals. We watched one get repeatedly dunked, as it was riding on its mother/fathers back whilst the adult was diving for weeds! Not to much in the brain dept as it took ages to figure this out and get off! TFTC

23-Sep-06
Wherever you turn in this part of the country, we are taking water from somewwhere and sending it somewhere else. Neat container. TFTC

sharpenend pencil to within a fraction of its life so I could enter log, might need a new one soon. TFTC

19-Sep-06
Offline till I replace the cache.

17-Sep-06
Log replaced. I wonder how the log went missing in the first place - I would be very surprised if a muggle would put the cache back at all. Odd

30-Aug-06
This park has a lovely open feeling, I wish I could have spent more time here. A really playful fantail was diving at my feet all the way back to the car. + Shampoo, - nothing. Thanks for bringing me to this place.

29-Aug-06
Driving from the airport to town and had a few spare minutes.. Clever container TK, I may steal the idea. BTW, you did us all proud with that interview.

Only about 1000 cars went past while I was hunting the cache, wonder how many saw me hiding under the tree? Where do the access doors in the tunnel walls go?

03-Aug-06
A bit damp underfoot after all that rain, cache dry though. Note to out-of-towners like me, you cant just walk along the river path to get there. +-0 TFTC.

Its frustrating, you can get to within 20M of the cache by ignoring the suggested start point... The gardens are fantastic , not normally my thing, but they are great. The cahe had fallen from its magnetic perch, back in what I understand to be its intended home. You almost need a GPS to escape the maze on the way out though. TFTC

Looking for a bug to take to europe, none took my fancy. The cahe was quite wet inside, poured out maybe a cup of water. I put it back lid-side-down.

Had to wait for a muggle party to depart, they spent ages looking at the construction... +-0, TFTC.

1st cache during my Hamilton stay, lovely day by the river. Cache pen was stuffed, sorry I didnt have one I could leave there - next visitor please go equipped.

It was hammering down when I got to the cache, coming down in sheets. I elected not to open the cache and drown the contents. Nice tree. Caution, track slippery when wet.

31-Jul-06
Raining when I got there - still see a bit of the view However

This was a disapointment. My Excel tool calculated GZ as a place you wouldnt want to stand if the neighbours were doing their sport. I checked all of the likely locations given the clue, to no avail. Given prior logs, I was shoping for an easy find.

Was raining when I found the cache, and dark. +- nothing TFTC

No paint left on the container now. It was unpleasant there today, rain got down my neck and I wondered why I was doing this. Packed it in for the day. - bath gel
TFTC

Was raining when I found the cache, and dark. +- nothing TFTC

Replaced cache container (hairline crack was leaking) and log.

Was raining when I found the cache, but the view was still worth it . +- nothing TFTC

26-Jul-06
!st Auckland cache. Lovely walk across the domain in the sun to get here. Cache dry. +- nothing.

25-Jul-06
Quiet little spot. Neat trick to support cache.

22-Jul-06
Verified cache OK. (I was wondering how high the river may have gone during the heavy rains... not too far it would seem)

16-Jul-06
FTF!
Somewhat surprised to find the first page of the log MT, I figured that after all that wet horrible weather, that the Sunday sun would bring a few shivering cachers out to play, and that the FTF would be an obvious target. As I didnt get there till 2pm, I was sure I would be beaten.
Fantastic birdsong in the trees not far from the cache itself - (I am always a sucker for Tui-song)
+- nothing
NB Parking near the top of the path is a challenge.
Thanks for bringing me here.

Fantastic day on Sunday, you could see for miles from the cache site. No-one around, reasonable easy find
+- nothing

The still sunny day on Sunday bought hords of muggles to look at the view, so many that even after loitering for 20 mins there wasnt a gap long enough for me to open the cache. Its there, I tapped it with my toe, but I wasnt brave enough to grab it.
Not any wind, the blades were still - even the tiny little aneometer at the back (the spinning cup thingy) was still.
Nice.

01-Jul-06
Lovely day, somewhat weird with all that fog about over the sea. - Geocoin.

Lovely day, the cache site was above the fog that lingered around the sea all day. We wimped out and drove to the cache.

Access to M1 denied due to setup for the firework display, and it was dark at M2. Next time...

20-Jun-06
Replaced log, scanned current log to the gallery.

I took the cache owners suggestion and wandered up from the CBD at lunchtime. Totally unaware the place existed. +- nothing. TFTC

15-Jun-06
A quick find while I was passing through. I dint know LOTR was filmed here at all. The cache is VERY soggy inside. The log book bag is dry , everything else is wet. TFTC

Returned under cover of darkness to grab the cache itself. No-one around at 10pm. +- nothing, thanks for a fun time. Can I claim the first to find since official publication?

13-Jun-06
Had a fairly good look as no-one around. No sign.

12-Jun-06
Raining cats & dogs when I passed by, however it only took 5 secs to gather the required info. You have to ask why, there had to be an easier way! TFTC

Hosing down when I found the cache, so I made a very hasty log entry annd closed it up again.

10-Jun-06
Lovely day, great view & calm conditions. Lots of walkers about. -bell, + candle. TFTC.

Found the intersection of the circles, but way too many muggles about for the grab. time will tell. I suspect the rubbbish bin talked about on the last circle point has been moved..
