Logs for South49

25-Jan-15
Have been waiting for the renovations to be completed to this quaint little hall so we can access the area. All done now and ready for a big Australia Day Breakfast tomorrow. The hall looks wonderful.

Quick cache on the way home. Liked this one for the views along the Indigo Valley.
Yes the clue was right. TFTC Coruze

Nice hide out of the rain. This was a quick one and no time to explore the area. I would imagine there are many pioneering family of the area buried there. Great old cemetery that is still in use.

Picked up TB 4KNJ4J after dropping a TB off at the last cache. This whale needs a swim.

Nice surprise.
Good size cache so dropped off TB. Popular spot for TB. Last one taken 2 days ago.

Yeh! Found this one last after a day of caching- love school holidays.

Beware of the ants nearby, they do give a nip and crawl up your legs. Seems to be a lot of them around and particularly active after the rain.
Thanks Bettyboo3747

First one for the day. nice easy walk to GZ. No horse but cockatoos in the paddock.
Thanks mvyrmnd

Doing a run up the King Valley looking to drop off TB. no such luck, still traveling.

Another on of the Spirit of Salts ticked off. Nice little hide

Was concerned that the cache was no longer their after the new shelter was erected. Previous logs assured us everything was as it should be. Fun stop

A popular spot and difficult to find between mugglers. Driven past on numerous occasions with the intent of ticking this one off but had to keep going.

Another nice cache along the bike track.

Had a better look today and found it in no time. Must have been the dim light last time that camouflaged it to well for me.

Out for another run of caches in the area, hoping for a quieter day and fewer mugglers during the holidays.

I had this cache on the radar for some time and pegged it as the area when driving past. Great little spot.
Thanks again BettyBoo3747

Revisited this popular spot today in search of the cache.

Quick look around and the cache was in hand in no time. Should have packed the swimmers it appears to be a popular swimming hole on hot days in the Ovens River.

We thought we would have a day caching, but tourists in the area at all the popular spots meant we only came home with one completed. Fun day though - i will put it down as reconnaissance for a future days outing.

Nice lot of history associated with this cache. A bit of long grass around the cache but this has been cleaned up (3 days later) making it easier for others now.
Thanks BetyBoo3747

Recent damage to one of the seats at the entry of the Avenue which appears to have been incurred by the slasher when cutting the grass, pity as they are a great entrance, This cache was relatively easy to find but well camouflaged due to recent vegetation growth. Good hide.

26-Dec-14
Nice walk in to this cache, pity there is no signage to speak about the history of the area. TFTC

Last one of the night and battling nightfall with out a torch. Spied it with a glisten of light, signed the log and off home after an informative round of caches in the cemetery area.

Called in on this one on the way to cache the cemetery. Nice hide and well camouflaged.

I recall Herman the German as a child growing up in Ballarat, and I wondered what ever became of him. Nice to see a lovely resting place and poem for Herman. TFTC

In the area for Xmas and ticked off a few cache whilst riding the bikes of an evening. This is a great way to see the areas historic and interesting sites TFTC

Great to read the history of this cache location. Nice hide TFTC

Nice little park area I never knew was there. Tricky hide.
Funnest thing was one of us trying to push the bike up the steps of the bridge......WHY? Never laughed so much in the race to find the cache. TFTC

Nice cache with a bit of history attached. Thanks BettyBoo

With a fellow cacher and the race was on to find this one late in the afternoon. Found with out to much difficult. nice hide with trinkets. TFTC

The GPS was jumping around a bit for this one and we spent a bit of time narrowing down the hide position, but finally found it. Alot of activity on the trail which didnt help as well. A quick sign and then we were out of there.

Thanks BettyBoo3747

Out with another geocaching nut tonight visiting a few local sites. Nice easy find on a clear pathway.
and walking distance to others. what else would you do on a summer evening.

Thanks BettyBoo3747

Yes this one is camouflaged and took a bit of finding, but persistence paid off. This is a high muggle area and had to be cautious.

Thanks for the tricky hide

Suffering cabin fever after a week of tropical downpours and lightning we did a quick cache run after tea.

I knew this one was there for some time, I was just saving it for a day like today.

A nice hide without to much difficult. Thankyou BettyBoo3747

Sad thing about this letter box, it was stolen about 6 weeks ago so there is only a cream colored can there now. I much liked the old one. The cache must be in cahoots with the old letter box as I could not find it either.
I will think about this one before I return for a more thorough search....Mnnnnn. The GPS was jumping around a bit with all the cloud cover, but the area I was searching looked like a good caching spot. Felt good just couldn't find it.

Being local, I knew the letter boxes this log is near. A nice area with happy frogs in the dam..... going nuts after the rain but we were there for the cache.
One of the party found it much easier that the other. A nice little hide.
Thanks Again BettyBoo3747

Last find on a quick wizz around Myrtleford after suffering cabin fever all day, drove right to it. 10 paces and it was in the hand. A nice one to finish off on and to ensure my day was not waisted.
Slowly ticking off BettyyBoo3747 caches, always a sure thing.

Thank you

Clever camouflage in a beautiful area as the name suggests, yes dont drop it as the description mentions. It took a while the jubilation when the cache revealed itself.

Ticked off another BettyBoo3747

A nice small hide in an inconspicuous place. The GPS took me with in a couple of steps of the location. There are couple of trades in the box.
Signed the log and I was onto the next.

Thankyou

My daughter had the GPS and was off in a flash, finding this one before I had got out of the car. A quick fine is always good to lift the spirit and makes up for those head scratching/ cant find ones.

This one has me barking up the wrong tree. If I had only followed my GPS it would have been much quicker. It took me right to it. The log book was wet as the plastic bag was punctured, but a nice hide had me staring at it wondering if that was it?

Was interrupted by mugglers so I had to pretend I was looking for pine mushrooms after all the rain, couldn't find them either. Hmmmmm!

Will have another try when the coast is clear and I have a bit more time according to the previous logs. Thinking time.............

Quick wiz around a few close caches after work took me to this one. Tricky hide but after a thorough search it revealed itself. Frustration and then jubilation at finding it as it was getting dark. We love Bettyboo3747 hides.

This one close to home has been waiting for me to wander by. Tonight was the night, after hours on a warm evening to avoid mugglers. GPS took me right to the spot, signed the log and I was on my way to the next without notice. Nice hide, I had thoughts it could be elsewhere in the area.

Tiny hide but not to difficult thanks to the GPS. Had to wait until mugglers has wandered on, before undertaking a quick hit and run.

Great way to spend the holiday for Melbourne cup, geocaching in N.E. Vic. Another great hide with a bit of seasonal camouflage. Nice one

Picking up a few caches on the way home, another one to tick off. Quick search and there it was. Yeh Yeh Yeh

Nice hide, last on a days outing, love looking for BettyBoo3747, always worth it

Another of Bettyboo3747, nice twist to this one, popular cache with 2 other entries today. What else would you be doing on a sunny long Melbourne Cup w/end.

All happy after finding this one, on a roll and off to the next one in no time.

A sneaky hide, just about to walk away and then bingo, found it. Much jubilation. Thanks Bettyboo3747

This cache has the most spectacular views on the journey there. Well worth the effort. After a short walk up a track it revealed itself.
