TNLNTFTC - the view are amazing - the lack of a cafe that I thought used to be up here was quite disappointing. How/where are you getting your containers made with name etc? Or do you have a laser engraver?

Several reports say needs maintenance, and I’m unable to get there for sometime, so will disable for the moment.

Sadly it appears this cache passed away and was cremated during the bushfires.

I have an Oregon 300 and have had no issues with caches being out whether I've placed them or found them, since just after getting the unit.
I found early on that it would appear to be misdirecting me, and would reboot it and it would be fine, but it seemed to fix itself, either that or I've not had any problems since reading on a forum that on this unit, you MUST recalibrate the compass after EVERY battery change or there can seem to be problems. Not had the problem since, so either it fixed itself, or following that tip has fixed it.

Basically my first cache in a very long time. Way overdue to get back into caching. TNLN Thanks for the cache.

Can't imagine why vehicles would want to go through - it wouldn't be much of a shortcut to anywhere by the time you factored in twists and turns. TNLN

Bypassed suspicious neighbors and found cache slightly exposed, hid a little better before leaving.

16-May-10
Wish I'd found this on the way IN to Bendethera for the weekend instead of on the way out. Got a lousy splinter and found none of us had a needle to help remove it.
There was a nice packet of needles in this cache, so I replaced them with a new roll of Rescue tape (if someone breaks down nearby it's pretty handy stuff).

Thanks for the cache, I've driven past it so many times now and not stopped to find it, that this time I was determined not to pass it up again.

Those who might be put off by the unFORE!tunate DNF of the previous searcher, may rest assured it is still up here.
Says he as he posts from right next to the cache using the Geocaching app on the iPhone.
And might I add that my test of "Five Fingers" footwear for bushwalking was a huge success.

PI-ning to be there, but alas I won't be anywhere within that Radius.
It's not that I'm a Square, it's just that I'll be Encircled with work in another Area.
However, looking at it from this Angle, I hope that cachers turn up to such a Degree that in
the last Minutes and Seconds the building's Circumference is seriously tested by the number of people Circling at GZ.

Have come to the distinct conclusion that Victorian Cachers are mad - we tried two caches while down here, and both were near sewerage air outlets that made breathing whilst caching incredibly unpleasant. The problem with this is that I actually quite like breathing while caching.

Anyway, no go on this one.
Found the most likely spot for it, but twas not to be.

Oh well, time for a wander up the path to the one that crow flies was closest to the Caravan park we were staying at.
Which alas, was also to turn out to be a non-event.

After all the junk food we ate on the way down here, and at a lunch at "The Chocolate Room" in Queenscliffe, we thought a nice late afternoon walk would help remove some of those unwanted calories.
Looked up the caches closest to the cabin in the caravan park, and lo this one was only a short walk apparently. Turns out it's a short walk if you have a boat, or wings, we had neither. Nevertheless, we did have a LOT of calories to remove, so we set off anyway on the walk the long way around with plans of grabbing another cache on the way.
Got to A peaceful spot only to find the "peace" somewhat lacking due to sewerage gases being released nearby. Spent way way way too long looking because no-one had logged it as missing, and then gave up and headed off for this one.
More sewerage gases here too. I'm sure Victorian cachers are stark raving mad. Do you all LIKE the smell of sewer when caching ?
Alas, when we got here we had two problems. The GPS was going nuts, and we were almost out of light.
I rebooted the GPS and got it to stop sending us right back down to the river, then back up to the hillside, but by this time we had well and truly lost the light and unfortunately also the opportunity.
Maybe someone we know will get married down here again and we'll have reason to give it another go.

How many years I've been meaning to do this one!
Finally got it crossed off the list!
Had a friend meet me at CIT for lunch, and when my afternoon class was cancelled and I suddenly had all arvo, we set off to go do this one. Me armed only with the iPhone and he - being super efficient - had my old Garmin Vista in his car.
Note to would be cachers: 1pm on a very warm summer day is a stupid time to climb mountains - especially if you are seriously unfit, and taking only a 750ml bottle of water was just barely enough. My caching partner used over 1 litre.
Found cache with the Geocaching app on the iPhone and logged it the same way. Cool little app!
TNLNSL Thanks for the cache and the leg stretches. I love caches where the hard part is GETTING there, not FINDING the darned thing!

17-Jul-09
just as we finished our Maccas I thought to use the free wi-fi to check for more caches on the iPhone and found there was one 19 metres away. thanks for the detailed hint as the iPhone is pretty crap as a caching GPS. Contents were spread everywhere, and log is damp. restored the best I could but could use some TLC. thanks for the cache.

great, now drive home with wet shoes. all the ones I drove past I choose THIS wet grass hike to stop and do. thanks for the leg stretch. TNLNSL

Thanks for that info.
Damn muggles, just what the hell do they get out of removing a cache ? A handful of trinkets and a $3.00 plastic container ?
Grrr.....

Might not get down here for a month or more, might have to temporarily archive it.
If the next finder is a DNF then I'll take it offline for a while till I can fix it up.
Sorry peoples.

OK, I'm starting to think this cache has weird poltergeists playing games with it.
First it gets published with the wrong co-ordinates, then tonight, I load all the new caches into my GPS unit, set off in search of this one, park in the perfect spot that I'd seen on the satellite image (actually taken by plane not by satellite believe it or not), walk to the bottom of the hill, turn on the GPS unit, and ...... what the HECK ???? ...... none of the caches that I loaded, had actually loaded.

Well, it's not beating me, so I set off up the hill while using the "phone a friend" option, "Hey Pajbasher, you near your computer?" ... "yes?" ... "Cool, could you log into Geocaching and look up the co-ordinates for me ?" ... "Cool, thanks for that, I owe you a coffee"

See. Where there's a will there's a way.

After you do the cache, I strongly advise a walk the last few metres to the top with a pair of Barska Binoculars (some of the best small binoculars I've used). You have 360degrees of view to enjoy, and with good eyes, or good binoculars, you can see all sorts of interesting things, even the War Memorial from up here.

And sitting back at home and logging this, I realise that in the rush to put the cache under my feet and try to look inconspicously like I was sitting enjoying the view, as a muggle went past, I have realised that AGAIN I have forgotten to write down the code under the lid. Oh well, pretty sure that with this one I actually remember correctly what it was - unlike yesterday's one.

Thanks for the caches, this series looks like it's going to give me a week's worth of exercise.

Well, this was in my inbox when I got home from work, and already several hours old, but since I can actually SEE ground zero from my window, I thought to myself, "What the heck, if I'm not back in time for the kids, they can catch the bus" and then set off at insane speed to try for a FTF.
Stupidly decided that beeline didn't look too steep, so chose to head straight for it. That combined with the speed I set, meant that I got to GZ in such a state, that at one stage I was pretty sure the FTF was going to be next person, and that they'd be FTF my dead body keeled over the rocks, or FTF me gasping there in mid-heart-attack.
But after a few minutes resting there to recover my breath, I set about searching for the cache.
Hmmmm... there in is a minor problem.... there's about 3 zillion perfect hiding places.
Beware when searching one of the said perfect hiding spots, there's a broken bottle inside it.
The number of bottles of various forms of alcoholic beverage up here makes me wonder if the cache won't eventually be found by drunken muggles, but so far it's very well hidden.

Thanks for the cache, I happily filled my name in on the "First to find honours go to..." section of the first page, and set off to the car, still with time to get the kids ... well sort of ... they'd rung while I was searching, and decided to wait me out at Maccas rather than bus it. Not a bad thing actually, cause after that energy outlay, I was sweating like a pig and exhausted, so a nice frozen coke slushie was just the perfect post-cache refresher.
Now to prune those trees so I can watch GZ and see all the other poor suckers searching three hundred spots trying to find the right one.

Maybe it's because it's a protected species, but I'm obviously a very poor Echidna Hunter, because I couldn't find this one.
Mind you, what self respecting echidna would live in this dump is anyone's guess. Broken chairs, broken fans, and heaps of rubbish, made it one of the least pleasant places I've ever been to look for a cache.
Not sure I'll go back for another look, certainly not without a better clue, because combing through people's illegally discarded rubbish at length wasn't much fun.
Hope whoever dumped it didn't scare (read: steal) away the Echidna.
