Logs for TaylorBrats

04-Nov-13
Didn't find this time. Lost my gps a while back and haven't really cached since, but got the bug over the weekend. I-phone is not yet set up for caching, so will try again once it is, but it had us in the rough area.
Lovely spot for a late afternoon walk with geo-pup, before picking hubbie up from work nearby.
Bonus was spotting of an adorable little echidna, and I think they had some others nearby judging by the similar rustling.

Will attempt this again soon. In the mean time, thank you for pointing out a lovely spot that I assumed wasteland Smile

Stopped in on the way back from Charlton to Melbourne after picking up my new puppy George - his first cache!

So I don't know if I can truly claim this seeing we 'found' it without really looking - ie; no gps in hand, no plans to cache that day.
But stopping to take a photo of a local marker, and seeing a car with the numberplate 'cacher' was too hard to resist enquiring about... And so we ended up signing the log.

Pt Leo - nice little spot - thanks for the (almost) cache experience!

Well, after about an hour long search in the wee hours of this morning, we called it a bust. No rowers, no joggers, but no sign of gnomey either Sad Was really hoping to find this little bewdie!
Another time perhaps...

Was all set to give up on this chappy, when I decided to bite the bullet and read the hint. One more look, and there he was!
So cute!
Will pop him in our cache in the morn (well, later this morn...)

We couldn't find it either, despite a thorough late night effort! Sad

30-Jan-11
Lots of muggles still packing up and heading home at 2am after the tennis. But busy enough to ignore our presence.
GPS couldn't decide if it were up, or down, but we found it in the end. Camera is un-nervingly close, but no alarms raised!

Not sure if this will work.

Oh, here he is hanging out at Flinders Street with TaylorBrats boy.

And yes, Metro staff are aware, and allowed him free passage!
Possibly some disability pass, seeing he has no use of his arms or legs... :p

Thanks again pwags !! Very Happy

So! We found the 'urgent' cache containing the detatched member (and managed to locate the patient) in time to reattach the limb!
Bought him home to perform the 'surgery', and he'll be in for observation at least overnight.
If the heat isn't too severe, we'll see if we can get him back on his feet, and ready for more adventures in the morning.
Unfortunately Shadow will be left with a scar to encircle his arm, and one fairly deep scar that goes all the way through the outer 'dermis', to reveal what lies beneath. The Bandaids will hide all that...

Was a lovely night for a spot of 1st Caidching. Albeit a tad strange rummaging in the bushes at 2am...

Will post new co-ords once he's well enough to be moved on!

TFTC Very Happy

So what happens with Shadow and others like him, once the 'race' is over??

ps - It's amazing what a difference one digit can make in a set of co-ords. For instance, typing a '2' instead of the required '3', can have you a few kilometres away from a severed limb, and smack bang in the middle of a cemetary full of spiderwebs. Not fun. Especially at 1am... Got there in the end tho!

pps - Loved the care taken in preparing this one!

ppps - another FTF!! on a roll Very Happy

I'm happy to return it to you, or keep the tube of superglue moving along - your call!

Probably easiest if you email me - [email protected]

Don't suppose you've found another small square of plaster in your car boot, have you? He's still missing a small section...

So! Found the carriage. Now for a little ride, and wait til all these muggles have gone!! Very helpful train operator Very Happy

Found it! Found it! Found it! Yay!!!! And first to find to boot! Nice to return the favour Pwags Very Happy

Will be moving this little dawgy along...

So this gorgeous little chappie, having been found and given the opportunity to share in our excitment, then inspected inside and out by Metro staff to ensure he wasn't a suicide bomber, has been given a new hide-e-hole, almost identical to his previous spot... except on board carriage 390M.

Last seen leaving Flinders Street Station, Upfield bound!

48 hours to find him - GO! Very Happy

Princess Diala, we took about an hour and a half once on the platform at Flinders.
Should be noted that we were able to enlist some help Wink

He is a gorgeous little fellow. Hope some more find him before the game is up!

The second cache tucked under my belt while out caching with Sam Carter this evening.

Initially took the wrong way around the path to the cache location, so had a slightly longer 'walk by the creek', and both GPS devices indicated a position east of where it was actually found, but got there in the end!

I think this artwork suits the nearby development, but obviously not as plastic... Okay, claws withdrawn! :p

VERY nice camo work! I actually saw it, and had a hand on it, but didn't realise!! It was only that my evening caching partner Sam Carter twigged, that we didn't go away empty handed!

Think you may need to pop the cache container inside a larger, more water tight container, as the log book is now mildewy. Not nice...

So Toby's 1st ended up being mine and Sam Carters first in an evening caching run.

Construction works leading upto the park didn't hamper efforts too severely, the mesh fench was ajar enough to pass through easily (though it was considerably more open on our return), and we made our way to the cache site without too much drama, even if *something* was moving about in that grass...

Cache was found rather easily, and it should be pointed out that the camoflauge is wearing off. Perhaps some repair is in order?

Lovely spot, and nearby a local mob was enjoying the late summer afternoon too.

One of a few caches - found by myself and Sam Carter tonight - on this type of structure.

Have a feeling this would have been ridiculously easy if I were a person of short stature...
As it was, the cache was not terribly well concealed, so you might want to look into that.

Still, nice spot, and the evening sky did inspire a bit of a Don McLean singalong...

Decided to try this one after an event in the area. Dragged hubby and dd unwillingly, but ds jumped out and helped search - and he ended up finding it!

Interesting to find that type of building there, as I wouldn't have expected it in among that type of suburbia.

Found while killing time waiting for a nearby event to wrap-up.

Thought I was being stealthy, but not sure if some muggles who came seemingly out of nowhere saw what I was upto or not.

Go past there often enough, but was a good chance to look at it from a different perspective!

Well, after not caching for much of 2010, this was a nice little spot to get reaquainted with it!

Don't go that way very often, but it was only last week I'd noticed the name of this place as Hubbie and I were wizzing past, and thought I'd like to go back and investigate some day. And here we are!

Some old biddy casting a skeptical eye our way, but she eventually went about her business, and we got on with finding the cache.
Success at 20.30

Glad it had been replaced - we'd already spent long enough scrounging round in the dark with signals going all over the place, that if it had been MIA, I might have cried! haha

We did resort to using the clue, but even then without a working torch we had a job finding it!

Lovely when caching reveals these spots that we usually drive past, or may not otherwise be aware of. Nice bit of history to walk through Smile

Found this behind our 'home base', as we are Scouts in the area.

Not terribly challenging, and I can see it getting muggled easily, as it was spotted firstly by one of the Cub leaders whilst they were doing some cleaning up for service, and secondly because it was found by one of my Scouts without a GPS, or even co-ordinates.

Still, SL TN LN introduced another to the fold!

Sam and I found it reasonably quickly, but ironically, our Jackyboy took quite a while - sure it was under the structure! haha

Finally!
After finding the 'dial' sans GPS, showing up to the dial with GPS but sans decoder image, no time, flat batteries... WE FINALLY FOUND IT!!!

Very simple to get to the 'gate' once all the right items were at hand and some time availed itself to us.

Muggles GALORE at the 'gate' due to the start of semester, and one muggle gave a cheeky grin a few times which made us wonder if she knew what we were upto. But once the coast was clear, the cache was retrieved, log signed, travel bug sent on its way, cache returned, and 2 TaylorBrats were very relieved to have gotten that one knocked over at last!

Dropped off Jack Russel TB (should have dropped the other Jack off while I was there :p)

FOUND IT! FOUND IT! FOUND IT!!

Had wrestled with this one for about a year now off and on. So blindingly obvious, and slightly embarrassing to contemplate the lengths to which I overly-over-thought this one, and definately managed to have the rather 'doh'-worthy moment of realising it had been staring me in the face all along!

And then, we both managed to get dyslexic and punch in the wrong co-ords!

So after three attempts (today) dancing all round the grounds, back and forth through traffic with incorrect co-ords... and waiting for council working muggles to actually _stop_ doing some work (?) & wander off, we finally had the chance to put our hands on the long elusive sweet, sweet, Fudge! (How did you know I like fudge logs? haha)

Curiously, after our discussion over drinks this afternoon, there was a white-tail in the cache container. A few other bugs too. They were suitably 'managed', log was signed, and cache returned to it's home.

Thankyou Sam. Love your caches, and this one had me amused well before it had me frustrating myself. Still get a grin on my face when I read the cache description Smile

Now, I think you're going to have to get some more caches out into the world. Short of climbing the mountain (which will happen, hopefully soon), or boating over to the Haiku, we've wrapped up the set. And they've been great fun!

Thanks again, YIC, May of TaylorBrats.

(ps - Jack says hi, and that it was interesting! (He is an odd child....))

Yes, as mentioned by Sam Carter, we were out for a day of caching, and managed to get to this lovely spot to knock over this cache.

Wasn't sure we were going to keep looking, but then Sam went past the place I'd seen a lovely little gecko run into when I did my first pass by, and found that all important first clue.
After that I wasn't long before we had the cache in hand, found a nice shady spot, and signed the log.

Took TB 520191 and will take it on a journey south.

As Sam mentioned, a good excuse to visit this site on ur 'day off'.

Not sure I'd want to stay at Barney's indefinately, but quite an enjoyable day for a visit.

Not a place you'd want to set up home, but in the scheme of things, didn't seem to bad in our day of caching.

Sam found it first, but I spotted it shortly after some prompting from Sam.

Had been wanting to stop in and visit this spot since I was much younger. Good to finally get the chance (and have an excuse) to do so.

Nice to take in some of the details.

Rather muggy morning while visiting the spot, but overall, a good caching day out.

Found with SamCarter this morning after Mrs Macquaries Chair.

Forgot to take a pic, but we remembered to pick up the rubbish and bin it before searching out the cache.

Had to wait for a few keen joggers and exercise enthusiasts to go by before we could access the cache, but once they'd passed, we had it in hand rather quickly.

Lovely spot. TNLN. TFTC

Still no container, but found the ziplock bag while out caching with Sam Carter during a day off in Sydney.

Another one of those "I would never have gone there if I wasn't looking for a cache" caches.

Odd little spot. Not sure the sea creatures were making the noises they were supposed to, but something different for a muggy Tuesday morning none-the-less!

Found this one after escaping a leader 'reception' that I didn't want to be at.

Sam Carter was up for a little night caching, as was Mattcen.

Two head torches and Gps between three, made for interesting night caching, but before long (and with some encouragement from someone on the other side of the fence) we had cache in hand.

Well stocked at the moment! But TNLN & SL

Thanks to Hoojar and co for these caches which provided much needed relief.

Well now. On a night that definately required some fun to save the sanity, this cache fit the bill perfectly!

Taylorbrats May & Jack will be staying in Troop #108 (B.R.a.T.S - look for the banner), so we'll definately be there. Looking forward to this!

*edit* Just realised an amusing little coincidence! The 'B.R.a.T.S' (Ballarat, Romsey, Tullapark, Strathmore) nickname for our AJ Troop, was actually my co-leaders idea, and she has no idea about our 'TaylorBrats' moniker - but I guess there's no escaping the facts, hey? haha

Have been working nearby periodically, and ALWAYS seem to forget to bring my GPSr.

Was quite dismayed by this fact this morning. But after looking at the picture (which looks directly to the building I'm working in!) and noting a few other clues you've laid out for us, I thought I'd take a stab. And bingo!
Out for lunch, in a lovely stretch of green, on a perfect Melbourne spring day, and found in under a minute! No GPSr!!!
Happy day.

Have had a cache-finding-time deficit lately, so am over the moon to have broken the drought!

May 30, well I hope it was a different bunch of Scouts, and not that the date was wrong in that post Jyetara!

After waiting on one half of the hiking party who took the long way after deciding to cross the river somewhere past Whats the Score, we were then sent around in circles as one of the navigators had miscalculated the equation to give us the correct co-ords!
