I had logged this under another userID (LacBac) previously. That log had been deleted and moved here. Thanks!
This is the state line separating Fall River MA from Tiverton RI, along Route 138. There is a triangular monument at the spot as well.

OK, I make no claim to be expert on old mill sites. Most of what follows is conjecture on my part. In CoolLibrarian's pic, Sis and I are standing in a wheel pit. The water would exit the raceway (tunnel) through the opening seen in her other pic. It would then flow past where we are standing (tailrace) and back down into the river. It appears the raceways were excavated, walled, and roofed with granite blocks. The mill bldg would have been constructed over them. I believe this mill had multiple wheel pits. See my pics and notes for the rest of the "story".

I toured the site this afternoon with CoolLibrarian and CTBlueBird. We used the March 23 log of Kc0dxh to locate ONE of the tunnel entrances. The tunnel NETWORK I explored appears to be the raceways of the old mill complex. Additional pictures and details will be forthcoming.

The first time I was with the kids in Orlando, the Magic Kingdom was the only themed site we visited. Standing at the coordinates brought back a lot of memories.

I suppose you would have to call this a modified flatiron design. The architect chose to round the angle and essentially make a bowfront. If need be, I will change this to a "note", but I just think this is a beautiful building. It is One Citizen Place in Providence RI. It is located on a triangular shaped penisula, thus the three-cornered design.
I found this simple, yet elegant, gilded ship sailing high above Providence RI. My earlier grasshopper, and then horse & buggy, vanes ended up being duplicates. If you think finding a ship vane is easy, trying examining ALL the current ones to see if yours is unique. I believe this one is from what I can SEE in the photos.
This is the Witherbee School, in Middletown RI. The 1892 schoolhouse was built by Joseph Coggeshall at a cost of $1,975. This building was destroyed by fire in 1907 and immediately rebuilt, on the 1892 foundation, to the same design, by John R. Coggeshall, son of Joseph, at a cost of $3,500. The schoolhouse is a one-story, end-gabled, wood balloon-frame structure of modest Queen Anne style, set upon a foundation of rubble-stone and mortar. The Middletown Historical Society currently is housed here. The Witherbee School was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on November 27, 1989. More history can be found here: http://members.cox.net/mhs1875/Witherbee.htm
You might ask why this one-room schoolhouse from 1875 needs two identical entrances in the front? Why, form two lines boys and girls. I did not see specific signs on the doors, but I believe the convention was "girls on the left, boys on the right". There is history on the building here: http://members.cox.net/mhs1875/paradise.htm

This is the Mowry Fire Tower. It is located on Woonsocket Hill in North Smithfield RI (Providence County). The elevation is 586 feet, and the height is 65 feet. It was constructed in 1956. It replaced a previous tower that had been built in 1926. The State sold the tower and land to the town in 1990. It is in good shape, but I don't believe anyone goes up on a regular basis.

This is Taunton Public Library in Taunton MA: http://www.tauntonlibrary.org/home.html The structure was not built until 1902, when philanthropist Andrew Carnegie donated $60,000 to the city for the erection of a free public library building. Carved into the facade is the original inscription bibliotheca fons ervditionis, or "the library is the fountain of knowledge."
This is a low key barbershop in Dighton MA. It is in the lower level of an old house. It does have a nice barber pole though.

This seems to be more of a virtual than a locationless. I was able to "find" it without using GPS, so it is worthy of a log. Nice job on the interview. I will post my certificate when it arrives.

This is the Miantonomi Park Tower in Newport RI. It is an early needle type monument that was built to provide great views from the top of Miantonomi Hill. It was constructed in 1929 and is 100 feet tall, with an observation level at the top.
This is the New England Aquarium/Exploration Center in Newport RI. This "educational" aquarium does not have the massive tanks you can find at a larger facility, but instead relies on smaller exhibits and its seashore location. They run summer camps that stress the importance of conservation and preserving the environment.
This is the Burr's Hill Bandshell in Warren RI. It is located across from their town beach and is host to a summer concert series. As you can see from my pics, it is not summer at the moment.

This is the old BRISTOL DEVELOPMENT COMPANY water tower in Bristol RI. It used to be a nice silver color but has developed quite a coat of rust. How long before they tear it down?

This is the Goat Island (Newport Harbor) lighthouse. http://www.lighthouse.cc/newportharbor/history.html for lots of info.
This mural was spotted in Newport RI. The artist has painted a number of similar ones across the country.
This historic opera house is located in Newport RI. It had the misfortune of being converted into a movie house, but restoration is under way. The ugly modern facade has been torn off. Once the interior work is done, opera can once again be performed in an opulent setting.
This is the Sarah Kendall House, built in 1871 in Newport RI. http://www.sarahkendallhouse.com/ It is on the National Register of Historic Places.
595 Thames Street, Newport RI.
Firehouse Pizza now occupies the building.

I never got very close to the coordinates while doing the Austin tour de virtuals, but Net research led me to an answer that was auto-confirmed. The cache owners said to go for the find.

Now that I know this is here, maybe I won't argue against the next shopping trip to Freeport. Thanks for pointing this one out.

Teach gave me a passing grade on this. It was a great new spin on the old caching game. It was pretty much a desk chair exercise, but I have been in all the specified areas at one time or another. It is nice to come away from a cache with some new knowledge instead of just thorn wounds and insect bites.
