Logs for Whirly Wombats

18-Nov-11
Yeah, found it! Although recent rains and spring weather meant there was quite some vegetation to negotiate. Nice spot!

02-Feb-08
Found this lovely spot on our last day heading out to Christchurch. Nice one.

It sounds creepy but somehow normal for a place like this, but we found bones while looking for the cache (no digging). Nice hide if you are a goth on a night caching expedition Wink

Beautiful spot that I wouldn't have wanted to miss - so much that I did it twice (which could also be attributed to the fact that I left the GPS nearby and only realised once back on the road).

Nice views and a top hiding spot.

31-Jan-08
Found it second time happy (after being stopped by a hayfever attack last time round) while coming back from the mountains. Looks like the site has found a new and not very glamorous new calling Sad

28-Feb-05
Schwarz-Weiss-Baer heard of this Bug-Party going on and so we tagged along. He liked it and so we left him with the others (don't really have a trip planned to help any of them soon).

12-Feb-05
Found it with no problems, the marks of many geocachers (and now mine) leading the way. Nice place. Thanks.

Just a quick note regarding access to this cache: Yesterday and Today the area of at least the first waypoint was closed due to fire danger. I have no idea for how long, but the last day of rain didn't change anything (very dry pine forest,...). We went soaking in the springs anyway.

09-Feb-05
Lots of little bunnies around! Found it ok, no swaps. Cheers!

Quick find, no swap. Thanks.

Amazing rock/limestone formation, indeed. Great spot, thanks.

Relatively easy find, busy highway nearby! Thanks.

Nice warm walk, and found it. Thanks!

08-Feb-05
Greetings there! seemed like this cache hasn't been visited for a while. We postponed our trip to De La Beche so instead we did a day trip to the shelter. Found the cache, no worries. Spectacular views! Cheers.

07-Feb-05
Good views on a lunchtime break. Thanks.

Grabbed this first on our way to Mt Cook. Beautifull valley and the name says it all... Thanks !

Took us a while (busy spot on a long weekend), even with the hint, but the unusual setting made up for it. Great.

We found the TB (Schwarz-Weiss-Baer), and took it but so far the drop hasn't been logged.

06-Feb-05
Easy find of a well named site. No swaps. Thanks.

Truly convenient it is (not so much for satellite reception,...). No swaps (also some girl dropped the clothing of her barby doll on the track which we were tempted to leave,...).

Quite a track that is (now we understand why the welcome pass was the 'quick route' over the alps in those days,... )
Nice spot, no swaps.

Reading the clue would have left a lot of sandflies hungry. Nice spot, thanks.

30-Jan-05
Found it without even searching - the cache was clearly visible from the track (hid it with a rock after not swapping anything). Cheers.

29-Jan-05
Found it! and yes, quite obvious after a bit of a look around.
A nice spot, which we would've otherwise just driven past. No trades, just logged it. Cheers!

Found the location, but next time we won't go on a sunny afternoon on a weekend...we'll be back to log it (on a stormy and cold weeknight).

12-Sep-04
Had a quick visit to drop off Bucko!

29-Aug-04
Been past this point many times on bushwalks and many people passed us on theirs when found it. Pitt St. is nothing... Took the laundry bag, left a mobile phone cover.

Found this cache with the magnificent view and magnificent location (if you look from the other side) on second attempt (the first time at night the only thing we found was darkness on our clothes).
We took the strange travel bug, no swaps.

Been past there many times, but never found this beautifull spot! No swaps, but the lid of the cache is broken (the cache itself is still dry and well protected).

The cache must have a curse - as soon as we drove off the main road it startet raining... Nice spot, no swaps (we reckonned that the bouncing ball would be too dangerous for our windows Wink

30-May-04
Great hidden part of the coast, well hidden for those who don't play golf...
Found both WPs without much trouble.
Great stuff for our first multicache (and then on top a first visit) !
Took the carabiner, left a finger puppet.
P.S.: Dogs are not allowed in most of the area of the cache (sorry, we don't want to get political, but the sign was too large not the mention it)

29-May-04
Truly a maze !
We were about to give up when something in the dark (that gave my girlfriend a scare) showed us the way.
A great spot for a relaxed search while stacks of people pass by a few meters from you Wink
Took a surfing DVD, left a compass.

12-Apr-04
First we tried from the wrong side, then there was a couple guarding the cache sleeping? nearby and then finally...
Good spot for an easy location !

We love the Blue Mountains, no matter where it takes us (also next time we will be more carefull entering the coordinates - it helps Wink
The actual cache location is superb.

Left a smiling frog in this location with great views.
Good spot we often drove past, but never stopped by.
Cheers.

11-Apr-04
Splendid stroll for an evening - take a camera and catch the setting sun makes the cliffs on the other side of the Grose glow red. It looks like the animal living in trees above the cache had a 'taste' of it Sad - the next one down might want to take some tape,...

14-Mar-04
Nice location - a well secluded place given the crouds pretty much every where else !

Spent 5 min looking to be the first to find this cache overlooking some waves crashing into the cliffs. Spent 15 minutes waiting for a group of japanese tourists to finish their foto session to put back the cache Wink

Took the bouncing balls and left a finger puppet. Also took the travel bug to find a new home for it.

The Whirly Wombats (and a visiting Koala).

P.S.: Got a bit confused and logged our visit for the 13th, but it was in fact a Sunday walk.

09-Feb-04
We found it on a muggy evening, just before it started to rain. A little less light and things woul have become spooky,...

Nice place !

08-Feb-04
Nice cache in a nice location for a Sunday afternoon stroll along the headlands.
You can tell we are beginners since we still didn't fill our
pockets with items to swap,...

03-Feb-04
Hi !

We came back 3 times to avoid the campers (went to look for seals inbetween).

Nice location,

The whirly wombats (no changes made)

02-Feb-04
Amazing cache !
For once it was more than just stepping out of the car and logging the visit, We loved the location and the hideout (well, one half of us).

We did get wet, and we did get 'eaten'.

01-Feb-04
Nice location !

We recommend the pumpkin soup and the panini Fetta-Salami-Pesto in the laid-back cafe nearby (we are not in any way connected to the business).
We emailed the answer.

Found it, signed it and left the seal (as we don't know of any seals in Sydney, AU).
Nice place with a good view and a historical twist Wink

31-Jan-04
Found the cache within 5 mins and using the hint from Mill Family.
Beatiful location and don't forget the swimmers (like we did) Wink

10-Jan-04
We came, found, signed and emailed. The cache is conquered.

Now that is a proper box for a cache ! And we were that discret that a GPS was hidden from us by some other cachers, so we thought Wink

Found it, great views - next time we go there we go snorkling,...
